If one examines the organizations and committees that the pope sat on while the first charges came to be made, will find out that these committees were directly involved in protecting their priests at all costs, which means that they ALLOWED and ENABLED crimes against children. I was a big fan of John Paul II. Im not a fan of the new one, for the following reasons. I hope catholics who read here will simply regard this as opinion and also take heed of the necessity to give up all varieties of religion and surrender to the Supreme Lord. There is an ancient prophet whose record of hits (meaning those that come true) is even greater than the more famous Nostradamus. Malachi the Prophet lived sometime in the 5th century, yet he accurately described each pope since. His list ends with this present pope and he refers to the one following JPII as the anti-pope. It is not just because Malachi says it, but the history of Benedict verifies this disqualification that may sound similar to those who accept the PADA investigations and claims as accurate concerning cover-ups of horrific crimes against children that has plagued our own society for a quarter century. Benedict was part of an anti defamation league of bureaucrats that refused to acknowledge crimes against children by priests. In fact, this commision included transfering "hot" priests from one parish to another, even involving international flight to avoid prosecution. This is not just a cover-up to avoid defaming the integrity of the catholic church, this is actually an enabling crime that allowed pedophiles to continue their crimes from parish to parish. This person has no qualifications to be a spiritual guide for anyone who wants to follow Lord Jesus Christ whom the pope purportedly represents. I see him flowing with that war criminal who is the fascist leader of america, and I dont see who has held that office since I was born. I see the same thing happening in a vedic sense, a large group have decided that Srila Prabhupada is somehow God, not even knowing empowerment from self determination, not knowing what shakti-avesa means. Krsna sends his devotee often to preach his glories, and such empowered folks have made their points, presented tattwa for the taking or rejecting as one sees fit. Fools who like to turn their heroes into God are not just christians, but they do so quite blatantly, against Lord Jesus actual teachings on the subject. He tells them to pray as he does, hallowing the Name of His Father, and they reply that the father is the son, negating actual ideas of Vaisnavism. So, if one says Christianity is not vaisnavism, I agree. Christianity is a devil religion that even Lord Jesus rejects, teaching "There will be many who in my name will baptize, heal, etc, but I know them not for they fail to do the will of He who has sent me." The will of the Father is laid out clearly by Lord Jesus, both in the canon as well as extra-biblical documentation. (BTW, Jesus Christs actual existance is affirmed by secular documentation by the government of Rome, fanatic writers and record keepers. The christian version is fantastic, and full of control mechanisms, a perfect vehicle for power holders who maintain their power by crushing their people with views of a better afterlife while they such em dry right here and now. However, Lord Jesus the person teaches that God exists as a person, whom we are missing and suffering because of such neglect of the sole purpose of life. He teaches a manner of linking up to Him, remembering Him, and the vehicle for such a practice is not joining a religion, but in accepting his justice and mercy and having full shelter in his Hallowed Names. To speak of the glory of God, His Alone, and to advise others to join in the utterance of his names, this is the work of a vaisnava. And by definition, a vaisnava is empowered by Visnu to rescue humankind from forgetfulness of our swarup. The purist always says that he did not teach full vaisnavism, but if a vaisnava understands that yuga dharma is not all that extensive due to our unfortunate plight as denizens of kali yuga, they may not be so willing to criticize. Some expect that Jesus should teach from the vedas or begin a program of deity worship, but these dharmas are for other ages anyway, not the perscribed method of self-realization for this age. Lord Chaitanya emphasizes the yuga dharma as not unlike Lord Jesus prayer he initiated disciples with. Accepting the will of God, Honoring his holy name, developing a huble attitude where others' offenses are minimal compared to our own, etc. It is not the fault of Lord Jesus that the weapon used for his assassination has been adopted as the symbol of christ, and used still to this day as a weapon of assassination. While the christian world today is told of the terrorism of Islam, ti would take centuries for muslims to match the corpse count created by manifest destiny, the christian motto for their blood sport. So, we can see from the content of this thread why religion is to be abandoned. There is no value in identifying with a religion, pledging allegiance to crosses, stars, crescents. I never shout "aparadhi" at this activity, because he speaks to all of us (thus jagat guru), and none of us are very together as far as viewpoints or purposes. However, is ISKCON established as a religion, when Srila Prabhupadas main teaching is emphasized with the sloka of the gita that is described here, abandonment of all varieties of religion (not just religion, but all varieties of religion)? If so, this would be a severe inconsistancy. But ISKCON was not established as a religion. It is a practical vehicle that Srila Prabhupada utilized to preach bhakti yoga in the form of samkirtana yajna. The so-called successors may have made it into a religion, but it is a commercial venture. They were not appointed gurus of a religion, priests were not ordained to perform materialistic and cheap baptisms. The leaders were given the duty to MANAGE. Thus the word itself implies that this foundation is a preaching apparatus, not a religion or a variety of hinduism. Srila Prabhupadas disciples were not even all members of ISKCON. I knew many who were initiated without even ever being in an official temple recognized by ISKCON. I lived in a center where ISKCON hierarchy had declared us their enemy, yet whenever Srila Prabhupada came to the big city, he personally sent emissaries to give his well wishes and directives and teachings. This is not unlike Lord Jesus, who was also reproached by his disciples, who worried about devotees not part of the religion they were attempting to create. Lord Jesus Christ admonished them by stating clearly that "those who are not against us are with us". Srila Prabhupada did not establish the religion of hare krsna or ISKCON. He established harinama samkirtana as practical application of yuga dharma, for Jews, Muslims, Christians, Hindus and all others who have a conception of a personality of Godhead. His first statements upon arriving in the west is that his movement was non-sectarian. So, I read where some say ISKCON is dependent on hindu support. I fully agree, this is a fact. Years ago, a decision was made that ISKCON is a religion. Which brings me to my main point. How can one follow the most important verse in Bhagavad Gita while refusing to abandon the religion of ISKCON. Because it has come to be known over the last quarter of a century that ISKCON as a religion is full of the same disqualifications as any other fool's religion, from huge money scams, greed, mysogeny, child abuse, fanaticism, fundamental sectarianism. ISKCON as a preaching apparatus to spread the teachings of Srila Prabhupada is another story, though. There is a pure society of devotees who reject fools religions fully. They accept Haridas Thakur, despite material disqualification. They will give full guru status to a prostitute who directs them to Krsna. Our acaryas were not religionists at all. In fact, such fanatics actually hate delving into the actual teachings of Lord Jesus Christ. Hindus, Muslims, and Jews also have no need for the teachings of any Vaisnava because they refuse to follow the very rudimentary and primary instruction in regard to abandonment of all varieties of religion in favor of actually attaining spiritual life. The following teaching of Lord Jesus Christ is not unlike the demand from Krsna that Arjuna choose His Actual Self while rejecting all varieties of religion. (Matt 8: 5-13) As Lord Jesus Christ entered Capernaum, a Roman officer approached and requested His healing mercy. He agreed, and began following him, but the official said, "My Dear Lord, I have folks who are required to follow my orders, but You, Sir, are much beyond this realm. I do not deserve Your mercy, but, if You wish, say only the word and my son will be healed." The Lord said to His followers, "I have not seen such trust in all of Judea. I predict that folks from East and West will dine with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, with My Father, but for those who may think that the Spiritual Realm belongs to a segment of society will be left in darkness. Go, My friend, your son is well and awaiting your arrival." On my website, I commented: "Sri Gurudeva comes to give Love of God to all without discrimination, he is never bound by sectarian ideas or imprisoned by the cultural bars of the ignorant." I would briefly further add that the christian may perhaps find a true follower of Lord Jesus Christ who is not at all identified with their sect or group, may not even hint at being one of them, any more than this Roman soldier could be confused with the known followers of Christ, the rebels, scholars, and blue collars who were always by his side. Further, it can be that the muslim may be surprised that their awaited "Madhi" may not share their barbarian wahabi fanaticism, that the awaited "messaiah" may come outside the realm of political zionism, or that a Vaisnava Guru may not even resemble a hindu in any way, shape or form. When Krsna advises Arjuna to abandon all varieties of religion, the reasons are plain. Religion is a watered down materialism that rejects "aham brahmasmi" that is incompatible with virtually any teaching of a Vaisnava. My own spiritual master, Srila Prabhupada, may have utilized som reflection of hindu type practices, however, he did not teach hinduism, and did not refer to his foundation as a hindu organization. The first rule of religion is to falsely identify the self as linked to the hierarchy of that religious system. This ends all hope of hearing from the Vaisnava Acarya. This is why the brahmanas of Puri cannot be counted among the followers of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu because they reject the topmost vaisnava Haridas Thakur, who is the caretaker of the Holy Names of Krsna, therefore the absolute link for all who claim to practice the yuga dharma of Harinama Samkirtana. The true vaisnava must accept a casteless person, outside varnasrama dharma, a lowly muslim by birth, as the ultimate GURU MAHARAJA (actually the very foundation of the entire Brahma-Madhava-Gaudiya Sampradaya). Lord Jesus speaks plainly, yet only for those with ears to hear. Those not hearing will consider their false identity of being cultural Judeans as superior to a Roman soldier occupying their homeland. However, Lord Jesus here calls him not only superior, but also affirms that this roman's position has no comparison in "all of Judea". Anyway, food for thought. "When Worlds Collide" is very topical, as we may be on the brink of this eventuality.
