Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, did often, parables are quite helpful, so I will give a brief one to get past this idea of many gods. Pretend we are ants. There is the dog. Now, that is God, no question. Only a fool ant would deny the dog's position as supreme, so all the ants bow down. Out of thousands of ants grovelling at the feet of dog-god, one will notice the activities of this god, and be in wonder. In such observance, the ant notices that god is not supreme, that, in fact, god is bowing to another, a human. While this intelligent ant does not denigrate his awesome respect for dog-god, he is also interested in the dog's God, the human. So this ant may choose to worship that which his god worships, and thus we have Vaisnavism. The vaisnava worships the god who is the Creator of the cosmos and everything we see. He is called Lord Brahma. But we take a cue from the son of Lord Brahma, Sri Narada Muni, because he has noticed Lord Brahma in meditation, and asks him who is he meditating upon. Lord Brahma, being very pleased with Sri Narada muni, initiates him as his disciple, and bestows upon him the Srimad Bhagavatam, the story of the Supreme Lord, the one even worshipped by the creator. Haridas Thakur chanted no specific mantra, for he was outside VAD and hinduism, he was muslim by birth. But Lord Chaitanya delivers prasadam daily to haridas thakur, who takes gleefully without prerequisite formal ingestion mantra. If you are eating potato chips and a pepsi, forget the mantra, just get the snack over with, and get on with real life. "Sarira" is a classic prayer that glorifies prasadam, but not a mantra to prevent ill effects of doing materialistic activity (like eating). Our friend here is referring to faith, not Srimati Sraddha. Srimati Sraddha is none other that Radharani, and there is no faith in her, only Krsna. Self realization requires no faith. This is actually meeting, and spawned by intense separation, such actual meeting is fully there. Separation can also be understood in the story of the poor brahmana. He had only facility to imagine himself as pujari, yet, when he imagined being accidentally burned by the ghee lamp, his finger actually became blistered. Perhaps, soon even, we should discuss simultaneous reality that is presently being discovered by the theoretical physicist and how it relates to the science of acintya bheda bhead tattwa. The gopis had a simultaneous reality, where they went about normal business while Krsna was thousands of miles away in Sri Dwarakadhama, yet they danced with him personally always. This simultaneous reality is present when the guru disappears. The acarya always states that the relationship is eternal, so how can such a thing come to an end. How can something end with disappearance, yet continue eternally. Now poor cbrahma is trying to convey the vani clause, and this is not misunderstood by myself. I accept that the teachings of the acarya produces the same result, even better result, than personal physical association. However, the basis of murti philosophy is at stake here. If we do not accept full appearance of guru in the heart of disciple, then the disciple is not representing Him and he is not representing Krsna. If Krsna is not fully appeared in the form of his murti, then such a thing is idol worship. Vani is presented as more important because there is no vapu without vani. One may know srila prabhupada, but they are not spiritually linked by that which we call vapu. They collect the rent, sell him an airline ticket, give him immigration status. Only those who serve vani can have vapu. Srila Prabhupada EMPHASIZES vani because this is his gift. Thousands have no physical association, but real association is possible, and is promised. If he states he will be with us, guiding us, we take that to mean his full appearance, not unlike when he tells us Krsna is there on the altar, we actually perceive Krsna (or we dont). Srila Narayana Maharaja speaks of this phenomenon. Dhruva, as a five year old, had the vapu of Lord Narayana, and the disappearance of such vapu linked him up to vani. Therefore, both were there, both were attractive, both spurred him on to understand real kingdoms from temporary ones. The kingdom he received will never disappear, even though situated in this temporary portion of the mahat tattwa. This simultaneous reality is also there for us to judge whether a disciple represents guru, thus guru in his (her) own right. Srila Prabhupada made bhaktisiddhanta, narottama, bhaktivinode, chaitanya, madhavendra puri fully present to his disciple. Just that there was and is a bunch of smoke so we cant see the fire means that the sadhana purification process is functional and must always be continued, even when the smoke clears and all dimensions are simultaneously perceived at once. There is no including christianity into hinduism. Both will deny this vehemently. However, a vaisnava has the ability to recognize vaisnavas, those who worship the person God. Lord Jesus Christ is properly recognized as one who worships the Supreme Perrson. Siolidarity is there, and some acaryas have pointed this fact out. This is not to assume all those who call themselves christian or hindu must accept the dogma of each system, this is impossible. Mahak's answer is to bring him back, give him the elevated vyasasana in your heart, relate to VAPU. If VAPU has no bearing, then this whole science is nullified, because the real founder of the samkirtana movement, Srila Maqdhavendra Puri, demonstrated pure vapu with his disciple, Srila Iswara Puri. I just wanted to speak up about my dear godbrother, dhirs govinda's prominant link project. Our friend alex has worked very hard on this project as well, and I am honored to read his work. As yall know, Im not a great fan of either the so-called rtvik theory or those who expound it. The reason I have reservations is that the basis is questionable documentation in which even the most vocal will admit is fragmented and often not at all contextual. Prominant Link, however, has not used such things as an obscure GBC meeting where Srila Prabhupada makes a brief appearance or a document produced by a secretary to expound the ideology of guru tattwa. Prominant Link does not reject the idea of disciplic succession, meaning disciples continue guru tattwa. In presenting ideas on how the ISKCON society should function, PL merely refers to shastra and good documentation to show that disciples, indeed, do carry out the missionary works of the acaryas. I have never rejected the idea of a disciple who may initiate on behalf of the spiritual master, regardless of the appearance/disappearance of whom (s)he represents. My rejection of rtvik as presented is that the movement is a contrived program of officiality that has all the earmarkings of eccliastic religiosity, degrading the vyasasana to a chair with a statue on it. However, the disciple has full right to not only initiate in proxy for hisw guru, but may also choose to initiate by the same authority as "regular guru". To the chagrin of rtviks, I have always maintained that the rtvik must have ALL the qualifications of regulkar guru to properly represent srila prabhupada. I deeply appreciate PL for this reason. The conclusions are drawn without the need for all the buzzy documents like M28 and J9. I always read PL with an open mind, and virtually accept the conclusions of such. I dont have this acceptance at all when doing the PADA or Final Order stuff, because I always place my hands directly into the wounds of Lord Jesus Christ. My doubt is my armor.
