  1. Sri Gurudeva is a personality that speaks directly to disciple. A disciple is someone who has an inherant culture, a means of communication. So guru, who is inspired by Lord Nityananda to go retrieve that sleeper:eek4:, will somewhat adapt to that cultural communication. We have heard the disclaimer about time and place, and this is what is meant. Not changing meaning at all, the messaGE OF vYASADEVA IS INTACT, FULLY. The referral to home is clearly discussed in the content of his teachiongs, the teachings of Lord Vyasadeva, the person's residence, in a variegated world. mam esyasi means "You will come to me." Me (Krsna) also means his home, his environment, his devotee, his name. You may not like the word "back", or "return". Maybe you dont like "mam". But let me ask, is yudhisthiras trek north to go back home the same as Sisupalas trek. Both of them mam esyasied, but one went home, one lost his identity. Its kinda essential to the science, this understanding of home as compared to the other "mam" like kamsa and sisupala and ravana attained. Or is it just "Back" that you are referring to. This could be a problem, because when the topic The sinister movement came up, my potential commenatry was never even discussed, and I never wrote because I was in fear of the nutso peeing all over everything. Srila Prabhupada objected to the German title, eliminating "Back to Godhead." His displeasure expressed about his disciples capricious decision to make such a change and remove "BACK" from his teachings, well, Im never going there. Back to Godhead is perfect and complete, to me, call me a fanatic who doesnt understand sanskrit language and nuance like jagat prabhu, but frankly, my deah, I dont give a damn. mam esyasi means that Krsna really wants us to come BACK to Him, come back to Godhead
  2. Slow computers are okay, they just reminded me of the holy land. But to this topic, A letter from Parbhupada that starts out, "Dear Mahaksa Das", such a letter would be an eternal treasure, and the content would be my life goal regardless of anything anyone else ever said to me, ever. If I read a letter that starts out, "dear <somebody other than me> das", am I not interfering in a personal matter. In fact, isnt this a human rights violation? Srila Prabhupada is expert in communication. If a personal letter to a disciple is meant to be viewed by others, such permission would be granted in the content of such a letter. I have often made this opinion known to those who reject his books in favor of personal letters to others. Only those who subvertly deny the fact of individual personality go for this nonsense. Only those who were asleep when Srila Prabhupada always referred to letters from Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati to various disciples were an intricate part of GM confusion about guru tattwa would use personal letters as authoritive. When Srila Prabhupada writes, "Dear ----das", everthing in that letter is direct personal instruction from prabhupada to the INDIVIDUAL disciple. His instructions to all who dont have any letters from him to you are fully present in his published books. If there is something missing after one realizes everything contained in those books, well, maybe that person will not learn anything else anyway. The letters are good in the sense that they can be seen in ways contrary to what the letter pushers desire. Just like mad quoters disease, often the quote they provide is the very thing that defeats their proposals. Hare Krsna, ys, mahaksadasa
  3. See, the whole message of Krsna and the Great Acaryas is there in the title of this topic. Need I say more? Well, since this is a forum, I digress. I apologize to the forum members for being such a grouch. Time seems short, though, to jar my memory of what Prahlada said to his classmates. And he was only 5. Yeah, his daddy was making this world and even the heavenly planets virtually unlivable by his exploitation of society and nature, so maybe these times today can be seen in that light. At any time, everything can change, zap, like that. The conspiracy theorists can say the NSA has a particle beam focussed on Mt Rainier, ready to create a Lahar that will give rise to martial law. Or the Bushies can provoke Ahmad-in-the-jihad into nuke war, boom, zap, lie dat, a flash in the pan that neither you, nor I will read about in tomorrows USAToday. No chance for us to log in to even say goodbye to gHari, Murali, Theist and the gang. So, todays posts are very important. They are the only things we got to say, something of value, something to reflect the PROPER education we have adequately received, despite the great odds against such a thing (like education). So, we reflect. And in doing so, we associate, but who do we associate with. If not the Acarya, then no one else is worth it, so we reflect the Acarya. We hear Prabhupada from the lips of his disciples. Is this not Parampara? While passing from this world, did he not promisew guidance forever from within the core of our hearts? When we were taught to hit the deck when we see each other, offering humble obiesancies, is this done to the stoolbag we think we are? No, we hit the deck because there is our spiritual master, there is the person who has heard from the Acarya and is now speaking on His behalf. There is Supersoul who has revealed himself as the devotee of Krsna. Anyway, time is short, and there IS time, to sing Jah Holy Name. Interpreting Psalm 40, I sing: (music to follow, if I find it) Psalm 40 Patiently, I wait for the Lord He turns to me and He hears me cry He lifts me out of this slimy pit Out of the muck and mire He sets my feet upon the Rock And gives me firm place to stand He puts a New Song into my mouth A song of praise to Sweet Lord (Yet) I am poor and needy, may the Lord think of me You are mny help and my deliverer Oh, my Lord, please do not delay Be pleased, Oh Lord, to save me, my heart fails within me May Your Love and Your Truth always protect me Troubles without number always surround me My sins all defeat me, and I cannot see (Yet) I am poor and needy, may the Lord think of me You are mny help and my deliverer Oh, my Lord, please do not delay Be pleased, Oh Lord, to save me Oh Lord, come quickly to help me May all who seek to take my life be put to shame and confusion May all who desire my ruin be turned back in disgrace May all tose who say to me, "Aha Aha!" be appalled at their own plight (Yet) I am poor and needy, may the Lord think of me You are mny help and my deliverer Oh, my Lord, please do not delay May all those who seek You Those who freely sing Your Names Let them rejoice and be glad in You Recognizing always Your Fame May those who love Your salvation Always say "The Lord be exalted!" (Yet) I am poor and needy, may the Lord think of me You are mny help and my deliverer Oh, my Lord, please do not delay Hare krsna, ys, mahaksadasa
  4. and I dont go where spam is allowed. Later for now, mahak
  5. To a disciple, guru is never away fro a moment. Even If a disciples guru disappears from the biology of the world, the presence is there. The vyasasana of the heart, is what I have called it over the years. Paramatma for the Vaisnava is Guru, Chaita guru, which also includes all whom chaita guru empowers to act in his service, inspired to approach a "sleeper" (dont get bent, folks) who may be stirring from slumber. Omnipresence is Lord Paramatma. Guru is linked to Paramatma, so omnipresence can be claimed. Omniscience cannot. Krsna tells Arjuna, "I remember all, you dont". Arjuna thinks Nara was someone else. Ramananda Raya is not a bowman. But Krsna is fully omniscient and recollects intimacy with nara and arjuna and ramananda raya simultaneously. One must be careful in applying false attributes. It serves no purpose to think that Prabhupada knows your next move. All it does is makes you lose faith in him because he entrusted one who burned him as well as us. Gotta bring it up again, probably my most often used mahaksadasa quote (meaning no veda base reference) in discussion with my friends who are of rtvik persuasion. He stated, "I am not perfect, I am but an old man. But I am repeating this perfect science perfectly, and this is my perfection". Dont set yourself for a future fall into despondency. Dont make Jesus into His Father, because in doing so, you will lose the flavor of relationship, you lose bhakti yoga. Prabhupada is not Krsna, not omnescient, but he is fully with him at all times, so when we meditate on Krsna, we can also acknowledge this relationship between Sri Guru and Sri gauranga. Hare Krsna, ys, mahaksadasa
  6. Okay, I will clarify. I am not opposed to humor, and well placed humor, even on serious threads, serves to act as comedy relief. Actually, this reflects on my spiritual master, who I regard as the most humorous, the most genuinely funny person, full of pleasing personality. Sometimes, humor serves to wake us up from our own illusions of self-importance. My complaint is that threads are constantly interrupted by self serving and not-at-all funny remarks that add nothing to the otherwise pleasing atmosphere of audarya fellowship. In fact, there have been posts recently that are downright contemptable, lower than off color, borderline perverted. Followed up by his nonsense laughing at his own cuteness, the hehehe, makes me thing of a flasher waiting to prey on some unexpecting kid with his perversion. Spamming is never cool. If you engage in sensible discussion, then you have every right, even responsibility, to break it up with a humorous remark. But if you spoil seven different threads at once, with nothing substantial to add to any of them, just playing a "disturbance" game, this is spamming. The fact that one has used so many names is proof positive, because the devotees who use this thread with the spirit of why it was created by Jahnava Nitai das keep their identities intact, have signed on with their own trademark personalities, etc. Even devotees who change their handles from time to time continue to honestly participate in what, despite claims from our detractors, is nothing other than bhakti yoga. If anyone types the URL with intent other than the practice of sadhana bhakti, I object fully. This actually includes those who may be greatly offensive to the sensibilities of the vaisnava community, yet are not envious and honestly are in the inquisitive mode. We all get upset with the opinions of others, and we react. I block Guruvani, but after awhile, I crave to hear from him. There are bush-heads out there that apall me, but their grasp on spiritual ideology makes me want to associate with them. This is a temple, full of diversity, but bhakti yoga takes place, even in the midst of our incessant disagreements. Speaking (only) for myself, I come here for association of my peers. My self imposed exile for the last thirty years wears on me, and If I can come here to associate with the great souls that participate, I regard this as a special gift. Because I regard audarya fellowship as a temple of the Supreme Lord, if I see someone who is being not just silly, but disruptive, I gotta say something. To allow this is to say I approve of his disruption. Then I get very sad because I want more of those who dont come often, post once a year (like sad lone wolf). Her Servant, a very respected member of this forum, made a good point last week, touching on a subject very seldom discussed. It is seldom discussed for good reason, because the subject is "mauna", silence. If one doesnt have anything to say, nothing should be said. Period, end of sentence. This is not just a desire of mine to have us practice such restraint, this is a principle central to this scientific process. The nectar of instruction tells us who to hear from, one who controls the pullings of certain senses, headed by the tongue itself. I dont really think I could stand to be in a room with one wolfing down big macs with cow blood dripping down his shirt, so it is not much of a stretch to be offended by another form of complete loss of control of the tongue Maybe one doesnt accept that fingerboards and screens are hearing and chanting, but my spiritual master does, and has said so in regards to reading and writing. I sincerely hope the person doesnt respond to this post, because this will be offensive to me personally. Ive had enough, then and now. But he doesnt care, and Im all but certain his drivel will follow. because he has no respect, even for himself, having rejected all the good advice from the wonderful devotee participants. Anyway, Ive said my piece. If someone took the time to correct any bad behavior on my part, Id certainly do something about it. What we need here and now is mauna. Unless, of course, something valid is to be said. Hare Krsna, ys, mahaksadasa
  7. But he gives me the creeps. Ill go somewhere else until hes gone. Im sick of his mememe crap
  8. not to mention the fact that the so-called murti doesnt break out the whip and clear the temple.
  9. when is kickoff. Id like to see than. Ya know, when I see the title of this topic, I think of the beginning of the beginning, the origin of everything, Lord Kurma acting as the vehicle where demons and devotees are churning all. I take this churning literally, this is where we can like all the demons, headed by Bali and Prahlada. Kick off at 1 PM, eastern standard time.
  10. The whole idea od murti is that stone, paint, paper, etc is utilized to enable one to have intimate relationship with the supreme lord./ Without the relationship, there is only stone. Idols in a temple of religionists who do not abandon religion in favor of surrendering to the Supreme Lord, are just that, idols. A devotee can see if Krsna is present or absent. Non-devotees cannot. Now, if devotees are mcaring for the murti, then Krsna is preswent, even to onlookers. But if there is no acknowledgement of the personality of Prabhupada, there is no murti. These dudes would never act the way they do in front of Srila Prabhupada, so the statue is not a murti. I always thing of Radha Ramana, when I chant rama, but I also think of Sesa Balarama, the Sri Guru of Sri Guru and Sri Gauranga. Whenever I chant Jaya Jaya Sita Rama, I go off into ayodhya, outer space. I must be a Ramavadi. mahaksadasa
  11. I gotta a bit of floydness hidden away in my dusty casettes. HS is quite gilmore.
  12. Thanks, HS. All the philosophizing in the world does not have an impact on yuga dharma, which not only means singing the names of god, but composing and singing the glorious pastimes, fame and glory of the supreme person. As I say, some may object, but ya gotta ask, "what else are you doing with your time, talent, etc." This movement is started to gradually infuse krsna consciousness in our lives. No one ever said to empty our cups, engage in penance with austerities that only serve to make one a nut case. No, we engage in a positive approach, where we utilize our talents in Their service. The cup always remains full, but by the gradual infusion of (from another topic) actions in Krsna consciousness, the full cup of pollution is gradually diluted with the pure nectar of yuga dharma. So, even though there may be specific and even noticeable discrepancies in such service, Krsna accepts the service. This is the process of sadhana bhakti, to inject krsna consciousness in our usually mundane activities. We should get an "Audarya Fellowship Greatest hits" CD, sell it for big bucks, and use the money for worthwhile krsna conscious philantrophy and charities. Thanx, HS, ys, mahaksadasa PS Caves, eh? My next project is to take my harmonium deep within these 1900 bunkers near where I live, maybe even film it. The sound is awesome in there. Your music is very awesome. And I dont throw congrats around lie dat.
  13. They dragged Srila Prabhupada into their may 28 meeting to ask him for clarification. He tells them. Then Tamal grabs the chair with his sanskrit term, the new buzz word (that none of the rest of even heard anywhere). Has nothing with content, it has everything to do with mentality. You must remember the atmosphere in summer 1977. He was dying. black keith had gathered together his hillbillie mafia, and tamal had usurped the brahmacari hustlers he injected into Visnujnanas TSP, maybe even offing him in the process. Two groups, which one was gonna win. He pleaded with us to cooperate, and rank and file did, but the gundas and their minions (many of today's sour grape rtvik proponants) caused great turmoil, purged the movement, especially of the old timers who knew these dudes were frauds. This is the sinister plot, not just in 70, but continuing until they finally let him die in peace, which turns out to perhaps not have been very peaceful at that. I dont argue the validity of ISKCON anymore, in fact, I ran away gladly in '75. I never tell anyone to go anywhere near one of their centers. If by chance someone wants a recommendation, Ill tell them of whom Ive heard who is valid according to my level of understanding and self-realization, but never recommend any foundation or any team that separates itself from other vaisnavas. I lent my ears to the rtviks for many years, but had about three questions that I asked them, and they never answered, never had a clue, so I call them the other side of the same nonsense coin as whom they rebel against (sour grapes). Rtvik came from the may 28th discussion before they brought prabhupada into the room. They needed a diploma, they demanded, as always, service from prabhupada. This is definition of sinister (ass backwards, left handed, literally). The sinister movement is puffed up disciples, when disciple means meek and mild, submissive inquirers, not those eager to correct and enlighten the senile old man.
  14. one thing I always liked about my friend subal was his honesty. And that he started his own movement makes me like him even more. Wasnt much of a singer though, but his caratalas were good, and he had the moves. Subal is the one who looks like a surfer, shaking his head, entranced. This tape has em all, jayananda, goursundara, et all, better daze. Real.
  15. the date is on the letter. It kept going. The sinister movement is that disciples tried to know better than guru, and this was consistant. And blatant. The bible of the rtviks contains this same mentality, one sanyassi putting the word "rtvik" into srila prabhupadas mouth. My experiance is that when he says "hmmm", hes really saying, "what a total fool. What a mistake I made in thinking this dude has the mentality to be an actual disciple." Bramananda is (was when I knew him) a very nice disciple. He bucked the kirtanananda and tamal bandwagon, was usually on the side of those who were blown away by the black politics of the leadership. He acted as an emisary of srila prabhupada to give best wishes to those of us who HAD TO live in exile from ISKCON even while prabhupada was with us. Unfortunately, we are all victims of our association. I, too, made serious offenses to innocent devotees because of trying to gain favor of those who I thought may deserve it. Fortunately, Srila Prabhupada punished me severely for this "following the kali cela because Im blind as a bat" syndrome, and has granted me refuge in my exile. I dont think the letter above is that complex. It is in the same vein as his disappointment that his disciples were selling tirtha maharaja literature as if it were as good as the books their own spiritual master was working hard at publishing. I think his sadness is the issue here, not betrayal, because no one seemed to grasp the idea of discipleship. There were no Iswara Puris at his death bed, just cursed devotees waiting patiently for him to hurry up and die so they could grab his seat and the power and prestiege (not to mention the fine brahmacarinis) he would leave behind. The sinister movement is easily translated as useless disciples who ruined everything they touched. mahaksadasa, not the nectar I am anxious for.
  16. maybe some do, I know one devotee who is way up there in ISKCON that even kinda likes me, and I have, in the past, been very publically harsh against his way of serving srila prabhupada. Yeah, youre right, though, as a whole, there is not much tolerance for those who may look at things with a different perspective. This is sadly called fascism, in political jargon.

  18. the true is true because it is true, no pollution of fact is possible. What is that old saying, "an intelligent man can even learn from a fool, a fool can learn from no one". So, as malcolm X said, "all the truth of what I say comes from God (Allah), all the mistakes are mine alone." And the idea that we must become paramahamsa, swan like, comes to play. There is water mixed with milk, a swan can take either the water or the milk, leaving the other. haribol, ys, mahaksadasa
  19. Sriman BA Paramadvaiti Swami really covers this issue nicely in his eulogy of his departed godbrother, Sriman Tusta Krsna das. http://geocities.com/mahaksadasa/dsp.html Toward the end, he mentions a possible difference in their views, but quickly give the solution. Why sacrifice everything for the sake of useless and meaningless arguement. "One day we discovered a philosophical difference in our opinions. The first thing we concluded at that very moment was: Let us not destroy our relationship over this difference. And so it was. Pettiness creates a judgmental attitude, a feeling of superiority over all who understand things even slightly different than you." All glories to both unity and diversity, hare krsna, ys, mahaksadasa
  20. some criticize home grown stuff, saying that only bengali stylee is okay. However, there is a case where the melody stays the same, but the instrumentation is different. There is a Prabhupada melody of hare haraya namah that has been put to exotic instrumnentation that works really well. All sound comes from ether. Jimi knew this, and never took credit for what came out of his guitar. When the etherical mahamantra is added, the zero becomes greatly valuable. Prabhupada gives the musicians the words, they take it from there. (Nina Hagen, Chrissie Hynde, Bro George, Dylan, Petty, Donavan, ras michael). All glories to the hurdy gurdy man, if we could only be his monkeys. Rolly Poli, Rolly Poli, Poli Poli, the SOUND.
  21. We citizens call for a council. Mothers Bhumi and Ganges go to their rep, Lord Brahma, who immediately sets off for Swetadvipa, the ocean of Milk. The power of the goddesses is unfathomable. All that trash is incinerated, then begins anew, refreshed. King Vena is dethroned, and the reign of Sri Sri Arci Prthu begins.
  22. Great stuff. The pronunciation goes right to the heart. Whatta band, gotta send this to tulasi and anthony. Music is what drew me to Krsna, and the "no hard and fast" ruling is what organic means. This really reminds me of my experiance twelve years ago at the Island Reggaefest in Duncan BC. Many of the top groups were there, and the folks from berekeley, like the wonderful reggae goddess Della Grant, took Srila Prabhupadas lyrics to their dance hall stylee. Even gangsta rap works, in the earlier recording, the rappin "Gopala govinda rama madana mohana" really worked well, Im madly lookin for another tape where I have a multi mixed version of this song. But this one I just heard is totally grand, thanks for sharing this nectar, murali. Hare nKrsna, ys, mahaksadasa
  23. BTW, VALUABLE post, Suchandra. Your comments are also spot on.
  24. Finding the anti-prabhupada is no more difficult that finding the anti christ. The one who claims unalloyed love is the one, sure as judas betrayed with a kiss.
  25. Haribol. Forgive the seemingly callousness of my above posts. I am not that way at all, but as you can tell from my you tube thread, I listen to my past, being a child of the (Oh God, euthanize him) sixties. Alvin Lee cries, "Id love to change the world, but I dont know what to do, so Im leaving it up to you." We tried, we died. Now we are remembered as idiots, and they want to off us all before us boomers become more of a burden than we are now (even though our tax base allows them to do their adventures in the middle east). Majority rules. Materialistic democracy. And our numbers are dwindled by contrived conspiracy of the hiranyaksas who want to continue to suck earth dry. What if. Gore was at the white house and got a photo with bush, Who shoulda been there, for our real interests? Not him, hes a boomer who has given his life in government and US and world citizen service. Damn bleedin heart. Another kucinich, with his departmewnt of peace proposals that extract funding for global clean-up. But all THEY gotta do is have fox news trot out their scientists to affirm cigareettes are perfectly safe, that crude oil has no carcinogens. Mother Ganges has been brutally treated by these hiranyaksa forces. Id love to change the world. Give me power, and Id employ immediately 1,000,000 high paid professionals scientists, technicians, laborers, declare the whole Ganges path a sacred wetland and make a mile in all directions a park, with rebuilt and reclaimed ghats. But I have no power, so I listen to ten years after admit defeat, and say as I enter my gas chamber, "Im leaving it up to you". hare krsna, ys, mahaksadasa
