  2. love your handle, since I was a wee lad, I loved the baobab tree. You ought to get a good photo of one to use for your avatar. In fact, Ill get you one and post it here. I dont speak from a platform of ISKCON, Gaudiya, or any of that. Im just and old hipster who spends much time in graveyards (as an occupation, not a necro-hobby, which aint a bad hobby BTW). I speak trying to convey the messaage of my guru maharaja, Srila AC BHaktivedanta Swami. He teaches there is no hard and fast rules for performing yuga dharma. Puja means worship, which is connected to sanatana dharma. In this age, Kali Yuga, the process for puja is hearing and chanting the names of Krsna. Lord Chaitanya insists there are no hard and fast rules for performing such. There are many levels of rules and regulations, as explained by the acaryas in the line of Srila Prabhupada, but when summarizing, Srila Rupa Goswami, the basis for the4 science of sadhana bhakti yoga, he states that there are only two rules, one to always remember Krsna, and two is to never forget him. By Krsna, we mean his name, form, pastimes, his unalloyed servants, etc. As far as what you seek, I suggest to go to a post by THEIST, who has a signature hotlink to veda basee where chaitanya charitamrta, bhyagavad gita, srimad bhagavatam, all are available on-line. I also strongly recommend to go to GHARI's signature hotlink titled "kingdom of God", where there is nicely published everything needed to know about anything at all. But, bottom line, to practice Gaudiya Vaisnavism, one need only to chant the names of Krsna. Hare krsna, yus, mahaksadasa
  3. They are the norm, not the exception. Life itself is a paradox. There is no rise and fall at all, this is the perversion of the mind, mental phantasmagoria. So those who say we fell, maybe influenced too much my childrens bible stories, these folks are no more or less dillusional than those who insist that we can rise to the platform of actually being a cowherd hangin with Mr. K. We are who we are, and as the initial instruction by Prabhupada insists (initiation by the way, these initial instructions on the methodology and the reasoniong for taking up this sadhana bhakti procewss), "somehow or other we have become illusioned by maya." Sounds like a temporary spell, not really that unlike what jaya and vijaya agreed to when they incarnated as Hiranyakasipu, Hiranyaksa, Ravana, Kamsa, Jagai and Madhai. Is this a fall down?, Some may insist that these were great demons, and while surely these activities performed by jaya and Vijaya while in this realm may be truely demoniac, they are nonetheless nitya siddha spiritual associates of the Supreme Lord. As doorkeepers for narayana, they were bored, therefore, the kumaras tricked them into brutal service in the rasa of chivalry, and the weapons they used against Krsna were accepted equally as the kisses from the damsels of Vraja. Jaya and Vijaya did not fall, they actually increased their service of the pleasure of the chivalrous Lords Nrsmha, Viraha, Rama, Krsna, lords nityananda and sri Chaitanya mahaprabhu. The stories of their demoniac activities of opposing the Lord are stories for us to guide us away from similar behavior, but they should never bee seen as anyone other than intimate associates of the Lord. They were influenced by Yogamaya, not mahamaya. Which brings up to paradoxical multidimensional (and as of today, theoretical) physics. Simultaneous realities. Some cringe, sayin "mahaksadasa is at it again with his drug induced 60s hippie speculations". So I gotta cite examples in our literature of such simultaneous reality. The poor brahmana waqs too dirty to go into a temple, he had no transportation. He had no gold ghee lamps. But where did the blisters on his fingers come from if there was not a paradoxical other dimension he was operating from? This is a most important story that we all should revisit from time to time, just to experiance transcendence. Srila Prabhupada has given us a portal to another dimension, one where we can actually act as nitya siddha. No, we are still old, feeble, cleaning toilets and polishing gravestones, but simultaneously, we are sitting on the banks of the hidden Crystal Lake hearing Sri Sanjaya speak Bhagavad Gita to the vanquished and remorseful Sri Duryodhana. We are simultaneously placing tulasi buds in the hands of Srimati Radharani to place at the feet of Krsna while we are simultaneously trying to find a tow truck that can make it up the muddy road to get the beater oldsmobile to the mechanic. The guy pushing metal cars that dont run anymore didnt fall from anywhere, and the guy intimately assisting Sri Sri Radha Krsna in their pastimes did not rise up from a perverted position. Its the same person, a paradox per gHaris #4 above. So, we can disregard this issue altogether as a non issue. Multidimensional physics is beyond theory, is a fact of puranic literature. That one cannot see clearly the other dimension while being so attached to the related to dimension is of no copnsequence to reality. Okay, carry on. gHari is the only one making sense here. hare krsna (see, that came from the other dimension, I just proved what the theoretical physicists are spending soo much on). ys in cooperation, mahaksadasa source: "As I have explained on the cover of the record album...." Multidimensional physics. String theory, multiverse, simultaneous reality, time travel, using Death herself as a means to step into the car (Puskara) that doesnt break down, ala Dhruva Maharaja.

  6. So important thsat I actually heard him say, "It is better for my disciples to bring back one disciple than to bring in ten new disciples." Write him a letter, wish him well, remind him of his guru's special mercy, his position as patita pavana. We all express such high feelings when we hear of one dying of cancer. What about alzeimers or other mental illnesses. These, too are biological diseases, so when we see someone who has lost it to some degree, consider it another form of cancer, and have the same feelings of well wishing. Our books are full of wayward folks who have had devotees on their side.
  7. boy, youse guys get up early. I like these discussions, especially gHaris points about dimenisons. Its funny that we have such knowledge based on beeps from maqchines, yet we still dont know nuttin. We have such a grasp on space, yet we cannot even continue to go 200 miloes away from the planet. They say we went to the moon, and I dont want to go there with this discussion, but we are not there, are we? And we didnt bring any green cheese back, did we? Thats that way, but we have puranic info of very terra firma stuff right here on earth. We have the tala regions, which are planets that are called subterranean, which means they are beneath our feet, within the earth (terra). So, as puranas indiacte, perhaps we should view this stuff dimensionally, like onion skins, like layers. Man has not set foot even a mile below the surface4 of the earth. their machines have not penetrated tem miles below the surface, yet we (the stupid scientist specualtor) claim to know the whole constitution of that which is 8000 miles thick (if their geometry is correct and that the circumference is 25,000 miles at the equator). Abnyway, what Im saying here is that galaxies and universes are beyond our understanding, despite the arrogance of the carl sagans of the world. We know nothing (as shultz says to Klink). I walked 20 feet into a rain forest and was hopelessly lost in that three dimensional world, so how can I presume to know anything about the possible multidimensions that exist. It is said that our brahma has foru heads to face the four directions or the four dimensions, yet therer are brahmas with a million heads, meani ng universes with a million directions and dimensions. I love the teachings of Lord Chaitanya book and the great stories of inconceivable reality therein. Even this material realm is acintya, inconceivable, imagine the whole thing to be the water within the footprint of a calf compared to the great ocean of Vaikuntha. But I surmise there are some who have taht all figured out as well. Multiverse is now a theory of physicists. I persoanlly acceot this theory, that folks can and do share space, pass thru each other atomically. Miles mean nothing to me, especially that we cannot travel anyway with the traveling mechanics that make up our froms. The human is designerd to go no more than 1000 miles within one full lifetime. That we make machines to increase is frine and dandy, but we still cannot go anywhere, not even a mile into the Tala regions, the opulent subterraneans that exist within this planet itse4lf. Just two miles away, and no one has or ever will be there. haribol, ys, mahaksadasa PS They wonder about black holes in space, but they are so fearful of holes right here on earth, go figure.
  8. If we are not about compassion and forgiveness, then we have nothing at all. Srila Prabhupada had many disciples go astray, and he rejected none of them. In fact, he personifies Lord Jesus story of the good shepherd. He looks for the lost one, leaving 99 to carry on. Ive had up front and personal experiance with this, as I was standing right there with sriman babhru when Srila Prabhupada, with ecstatic love in his eyes, asked govinda dasi of the welfare of his lost servant goursundara. To witness his relationship with this person while all his leaders just wanted to do away with him, well, I follow, him, not them. While I have not necessarily withheld criticism against the excesses of my godbrudren over the years, I have always noted that our best response is to ask Krsna to make their "token" karma short and restore them asw He has always restored me. Ya see, I got this plank in my eye, and I cannot see that well to remove the speck from me bredrens eye. But I do have the ability to ask krsna to restore both of our visions. Hare Krsna, ys, mahaksadasa
  9. Srila Prabhupada promised me initially (which means initiation in the purest sense if I take him up on his offer) that if I chant hare krsna, my life will be sublime. He has kept his promise, and I still chant forty years later. My life is very sublime, but only if I KNOW what is meant by "life". If I consider my material plight, maybe it doesnt seem so sublime, with my car problems, my severe poverty, my 57 year old physical form full of cancers, viri, chemical poisonings, horrible position as expendible human designation for genocide by maniacal social forces and the wranglings of the mind mixed with natural calamity. But this is not my life. My real life is when I see a sunset and on a lark, start dancing or singing hare krsna, and feel ecstatic symptoms. My real life is the one where eyes fill with tears when I come to realize that even duryodhana is not demon, but a devotee, a pure one, who in the crystal lake heard bhagavad gita from the lips of Sri Sanjaya and purified his life at the very end, that his rasa was a chivalrous one as he simply played a role of animosity against Krsna (all the while maintaining close friendship with Lord Balarama BTW). My real life is with Lord Ganesha as he met his father, Lord Siva, for the first time and lost his head. This is reality, to absorb ones existance in the pastimes of Lord Krsna and his confidential associates. As far as the car and the food supply goes, krsna will provide, or he wont. But that is nothing to do with the promise of my guru maharaja, which has come to pass. So, to answer your question, I say "VERY". hare krsna, ys, mahaksadasa
  10. Johnny come lately? Not likely, as Srimad bhagavatam is the very first sound vibration uttered, for all intents and purposes. Srimad bhagavatam is originally seven verses uttered to Lord Brahma by Lord Narayana. How many years ago? Sorry, this computer does not have enough gigabytes to write all the zeroes following the one. Using sacred math, it was nine years ago, and nine is reserved for the Supreme Lord. Back then, there was Lord Narayana, his only begotten son Lord Brahma, and Narada Muni. For the best of informatrions, read the answers by citing the lords version: SB 2.9.31: The Personality of Godhead said: Knowledge about Me as described in the scriptures is very confidential, and it has to be realized in conjunction with devotional service. The necessary paraphernalia for that process is being explained by Me. You may take it up carefully. SB 2.9.32: All of Me, namely My actual eternal form and My transcendental existence, color, qualities and activities -- let all be awakened within you by factual realization, out of My causeless mercy. SB 2.9.33: Brahma, it is I, the Personality of Godhead, who was existing before the creation, when there was nothing but Myself. Nor was there the material nature, the cause of this creation. That which you see now is also I, the Personality of Godhead, and after annihilation what remains will also be I, the Personality of Godhead. SB 2.9.34: O Brahma, whatever appears to be of any value, if it is without relation to Me, has no reality. Know it as My illusory energy, that reflection which appears to be in darkness. SB 2.9.35: O Brahma, please know that the universal elements enter into the cosmos and at the same time do not enter into the cosmos; similarly, I Myself also exist within everything created, and at the same time I am outside of everything. SB 2.9.36: A person who is searching after the Supreme Absolute Truth, the Personality of Godhead, most certainly search for it up to this, in all circumstances, in all space and time, and both directly and indirectly. SB 2.9.37: O Brahma, just follow this conclusion by fixed concentration of mind, and no pride will disturb you, neither in the partial nor in the final devastation. The purports can be attained by entering the highlighted verse numbers.
  11. Haribol. This is a great thread, one which discusses dhira and this multiple krsnas that gHari alludes to. Srila Prabhupada taught of these different krsnas, one the sublime master, the other a tool which we use to establish our rightful place as the all in all. Smarta brahmanism is the process where one takes up the process of bhakti yoga in order to become God. Krsna is worshipped, but only as a process for ones selfish aspirations. While we may not think we are krsna or will become krsna (or gopis for that matter), if we do not eventually become dhira, unconfused about our swarupa, then our desires are still our priority. We still aspire to become great, great devotees, great philosophers, great leaders of spiritual society. However, the true vaisnavism is where we become less and less, lower than the straw in the street. From there, we actually engage in bhakti yoga, selfless service in the spirit of Lord Chaitanyas Siksa Stakam, the true bhakti yoga practice without any other motive than krsnas pleasure. Even at our own expense, as he prays: (1.) Glory to the Sri Krsna sankirtana, which cleanses the heart of all the dust accumulated for years and extinguishes the fire of conditional life, of repeated birth and death. This sankirtana movement is the prime benediction for humanity at large because it spreads the rays of the benediction moon. It is the life of all transcendental knowledge. It increases the ocean of transcendental bliss, and it enables us to fully taste the nectar for which we are always anxious. (2.) O my Lord, Your holy name alone can render all benediction to living beings, and thus You have hundreds and millions of names like Krsna and Govinda. In these transcendental names You have invested all Your transcendental energies. There are not even hard and fast rules for chanting these names. O my Lord, out of kindness You enable us to easily approach You by chanting Your holy names, but I am so unfortunate that I have no attraction for them. (3.) One should chant the holy name of the Lord in a humble state of mind, thinking oneself lower than the straw in the street; one should be more tolerant than a tree, devoid of all sense of false prestige, and ready to offer all respect to others. In such a state of mind one can chant the holy name of the Lord constantly. (4.) O almighty Lord, I have no desire to accumulate wealth, nor do I desire beautiful women, nor do I want any number of followers. I only want Your causeless devotional service birth after birth. (5.) O son of Maharaja Nanda (Krsna), I am Your eternal servitor, yet somehow or other I have fallen into the ocean of birth and death. Please pick me up from this ocean of death and place me as one of the atoms of Your lotus feet. (6.) O my Lord, when will my eyes be decorated with tears of love flowing constantly when I chant Your holy name? When will my voice choke up, and when will the hairs on my body stand on end at the recitation of Your name? (7.) O Govinda! Felling Your separation, I am considering a moment to be like twelve years or more. Tears are flowing from my eyes like torrents of rain, and I am feeling all vacant in the world in Your absence. (8.) I know no one but Krsna as my Lord, and He shall remain so even if He handles me roughly in His embrace or makes me brokenhearted by not being present before me. He is completely free to do anything and everything, for He is always my worshipful Lord unconditionally. This is the krsna we should aspire to, not the one who is designed to serve our superficial whims. Hare Krsna, ys, mahaksadasa
  12. Haribol. This is a fact of both the ministry of Lord Jesus and the teachings of guru tattwa according to vaisnava tradition. That when one commits oneself to the process of the acarya, the acarya agrees to help in the area of karma heaped up from time immemorial. However, when we speak of commitment, we speak of reciprocal relationship between guru and disciple. Lord Jesus teaches "Take up my yoke, it is light and bearable." So, perhaps the disciple should understand things from this angle. When we commit to guru (Jesus Chruist or other specifically empowered individualks acting on behalf of Lord Paramatma), we take on their karma, which is light. Our karma is not in question, because the wheels keep spinning even if we discontinue action that produces both negative and positive reaction. So, jesus christ also tells his followers to take up the cross as well. There is no jesus or guru or god that allows us to wipe our bloody sins upon. There is absolutely no wevidence anywhere where one has done this. All the stories of libveration from the bonds of materilaism are about devotees who actively commit to guru. Even Ajamila, where it seems that someone relieved him of bad karma from a bad life, even the story of dismas, http://geocities.com/mahaksadasa/dd.html when studies carefully, one will see that such personas acted on instruction of acarya. Ajamila nameed his son Narayana because he had heard from acarya in the distant past. The thioef and murderer dismas also had taken on the yoke of Mary (according to the story, which authenticity can be rightfully questioned, but I personally do not). The acarya will not suffer for us because the acarya is not suffering period. The acarya is beyond the duality of pleasure and misery. Tjhe father did not crucify Lord Jesus, fools who thought jesus christ was desiring their material kingdom assassinated him, but even their murder proved to be quite faulty, because Death has no need to approach one who is beyond the materialistic illusion of birth and death. Just looking at things from a different angle, horrible suffering is undergone by those who have not committed and taken on the light load of the acarya. Only illusion will make one think he no longer has to pay his karmic bills by pledging allegiance to one where reciprocal commitment has not taken place. This reciprocal commitment is called initiation in its tangible form, beyond the scope of ritual and officiousness. hare krsna, ys, mahaksadasa Hare Krsna, ys, mahaksadasa
  13. While living at goursundaras farm on isle of big, this song came out as a TV special. Temple life didnt stop us from all watchin. mahak
  14. Sorry, murali, that wasnt the g version. There is the same song sung by a twisted japanese group and accompanied by awesome japanimation. This is the one I should have done http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pg35wJlxcQY&feature=related yeah, I like you tube, stuff you cant find anywhere. I even found a "collectors" (Canadas Doors) riff, which ya cant find anywhere, clouds by pink floyd, all the obscurred (no beacon from mars by illinois speed press though). Haribol, bro. yer surf ant, mahaksadasa
  15. Less time is okay, but not at the expense of your quality posts. And as far as behavior goes, we all do the best we can. We come here for exposure to devotional service in the forms, mainly, of sravanam, kirtanam, visnoh smaranam. We hear (read), we chant (write), and we remember Visnu. The other stuff is really just a chemical released in our biology that causes actions of anger. We can all get over this "hurt feelings" real soon if we understand that all vaisnavas are quite rare. The tangible results sghould be a noticing within of increase of vaisnava behavior (like your expressed humility in recognizing excessive behavior. I just got a dose myself in the form of two PMs reminding me what a jerk I can be at times.) along with a decrease of materialistic tendency. For myse3lf, these things can be tangibly measured, and the vedic terms have something to do with nirvrtti marga and pavriti marga. I forget the rest:smash: So, I have measured an increased unwillingness to jump on bandwagons to heap scorn on my troubled and perhaps insane godbrothers. I have more inclination to think of these folks in better days, with recognition that, just as he has not abandoned me, he certainly has not abandoned them either, considering their impact on helping him greatly in his missionary activities. One can follow my writings over the last ten years and see that such a change has taken place. While I dont blindside myself into thinking they are greater than Bozo, it is not me walking within that dying frame with that set of consciousness to the personal armageddon (kuruksetra) we must apply ourselves to. Ive got my own chariot going thru final preparation for when the sparks will fly. Anyway, have a tangibly successful new year, one and all, hare krsna, ys, mahaksadasa PS Now this is a good topic, I hope my participation is less harsh as well.
  16. your title is guru tattwa, plain and simple. No rocket science here, it is covered completely in the books Srila Prabhupada brought to america, the first canto of bhagavatam. In this wonderful nectar, we see gurus appearing to disciples, inspired by krsna to make such appearancesw. Srila Prabhupada appears to us in the same manner. If we were left to our own devices, we would choose hendrix, velvet underground, jefferson airplane. Guru tattwa is not a search engine, guru does not have trouble finding sincere candidates for devotional service. Descending process is the phrase describing guru tattwa. Krsna dewscends thru the via medium. We dont build towers of babel to reach him, our endeavors are indeed useless. haribol, ys, mahaksadasa
  17. satswarupa did a good job on the book in my opinion. Mistakes? Sure, but what is the motive? Just as sanatana said, to give opportunity for those who didnt know him to have a bio presentation. The severe critics want everything to be perfect, and maybe this is because the guru trip of the eighties misled us into expecting that they were perfect. But when we take into consideration naradas instruction to vyasadeva, about errors made in describing transcendental activities of the Lord and his servants, maybe we should all chill out. The alternative is to become like PADA, and criticize everyone without cause most of the time. Now the art? Well, we can critique this:eek4: , but even then, art is in the eyes of the beholder. Satsvarupa has made mistakes, but we must remember srila prabhupadas relationship with him. How can we hate such a beloved disciple of prabhupada. If he has gone wrong, lets pray for quick recovery, not like a fly plunge into his sores. Thanks for the reminder, sanatana. Hare Krsna, ys, mahaksadasa

  19. He taught others the system of retirement, can he do what he taught? Head North, bro, renounce truely everything. As Vidura said to Drtarastra, "Get out of here. What an embarassment to live getting hand fed by Bhimasena who killed every one of your 100 sons." So, quit all, retire from your embarassment as well. You taught me, now I teach you, become avadhuta and live on nothing in the holy places. Dont drop by the temples for respect or handouts, be a phenop, living only on fruit you find on the ground. Grow your hair, quit painting (please). mahak
  20. ditto here, hope my sense of humor doesnt take away from the great contributions of audarya fellows.
  21. the one accross the street. Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose. Shes a babe, but shes gotta go to work now, shes a police-person, nice MAC.
  22. Yeah, I heard of many in South America. There is a cave dug from Lanka to South America, and them reptilians live there, in that hole. Holes are more interesting than UFOs, because no one comes here from space, they come from the talas, beneath the surface of the earth (the subterranean planetary systems). These beings can be seen by our eyes because they have gross elements making up their forms. Those living "up there" became invisible since the age of Kali began, their forms are more mental, more etheric.
  23. me neither, but its nothing to cry over. The liberated just move to the next prison, just ask the woman who is liberated.
  24. same way you know what prabhupada taught, use discernment and the tri-criteria of guru shastra and sadhu. How about the version of revelation? This is how it works, because all publications and movements are manipulated (ie polluted by opinion of those who are not devotee). Any teaching of Jesus, Prabhupada, et al, must be heard from devotee. The coptic Pope Shenouda III teaches that THEISM can only be discussed by those who love God and their disciples. So, how do we know? Ask, hes there. haribol, mahaksadasa
  25. And I bet theist sees some now and then too, right there in bezerkeley. I saw hundreds of angels at altamont speedway in december 69. I even got to know some angels, sonny barger et all, SF Chapter. We got devils up here way north, but they be spanish, so they call themselves diablos. As far as orbs go on cameras, it always happens in the rain or by a waterfall. Clean the lens. I bet ol vikram was expecting a conspiracy theory from me saying that they were all shot down by the air farce in 47 in new mexico. No, they werent angels then, they were robots made by the reptilians. Some of the altamont angels were reptilians as well.
