The acarya does not use tactics, because such a thing is duplicitous, and this is against the vaisnava character of straightforwardness. Srila Prabhupada is not about vaisnava tradition. He is about yuga dharma, chanting Gods many names, and those who do, follow the vaisnava even if they dont give a hoot about traditionalists who just march off into their party spirit history. Without giving up such sectarianism, there is no hope of becoming Krsna Conscious. Krsna is not a tribal god, he is the Lord of all, Lord Jagannatha, who is specially relating to all who choose to hear him, who chant his name, fame, glories, and have deep respect for all the great lovers of God regardless of their traditions. Uproar is for fools who are threatened by the competition. Lord Jesus' followers were in such an uproar, and complained about the other devotee who at the time was speaking similarly to Lord Jesus. Lord Jesus was not disturbed, and told his disciples in their sectarian uproar that "those who are not against us are with us." He called a roman centurian a better devotee with more faith that all the faith in Judea. Disturbance and uproars just let us know that those so situated are neophytes, unle to have very strong faith, and thus they have unrealistic concerns for what they feel is competitive. But Srila Prabhupada relieves the neophyte consciousness by letting us know there is no competition, the absolute truth is there within the self, and can be revealed by any method so chosen by Lord Nityananda. Religion wars deny this, and their uproar is the destruction of all that is required for advancement in actual krsna consciousness. Vaisnavas who feel threatened by Lord Jesus Christ are kanistha adhikaris, very doubtful of their own proclaimed religious principle. An advanced devotee feels no such threat, thus he can actually get value from all sources, and give value from such sources, as Lord Chaitanya did in his successful preaching of Qoran to the Kazi. My advice to the uproaring vaisnava, just breathe. You are watching the hourglass that is glued to the table. No one here is demanding that you give up krsna and be a jesus freak. In fact, the devotees here who speak fondly about Lord Jesus are most critical of the religion that is known as christianity.. And if someone does demand that a vaisnava study jesus, such a person should be severely challenged. Haribol. I dont mean disrespect with my title, just making a point for all those who insist vaisnavism is somehow made impure by the injection of teachings from Lord Jesus Christ. The vaisnava will gladly hear from a vansnava, regardless of how such nectar is framed. We have complete authority in our insistance that Srila Prabhupada is quite proper by accepting Lord Jesus as vaisnava. The vaisnava himself establishes the criteria for recognizing vaisnavas by their characteristics. Our example is that Lord Chaitanya used the Holy Qoran to convince the Kazi thaT THE samkirtana movement is authorized by Mohammed Himself. This is not to say that the vaisnava advertizes the bible or the qoran as authority, but the Vaisnava Himself IS IN FACT, the authority. The vaisnava can use even time magazine, even the lyrics of a contemporary song (see PS to gHari), to make other vaisnavas. So, I am guilty of supporting Lord Jesus, but one will always note that my approval is completely linked to the commentary of the Vaisnava. We do not hear theism unless it is spoken by a lover of God. This also includes the bhagavad gita, which is useless in the hands and on the lips of those envious of the Supreme Lord. the bible is fine literature, and because it praises the glories of the Supreme person, Srimad bhagavatam tells us that such literature is acceptable to those who are tghoroughly honest, even though such literature may be imperfectly composesd. However, there is a caveat. Just as bhagavad gita can and is dangerous when commented upon by those envious of Krsna, it is very imporatnt that we follow the advice of Pope Shenouda III, who defines theism as something beyond the realm of all except those who love God, and the followeras of such lovers of God. The bible is therefore, theistic, the science of the Supreme Lord, but must be heard from a lover of the supreme Lord. Otherweise, it becomes the scripture of death. We see this all over the world, death spewing from so-called religion. This is because the commentary of materialists has polluted the meaning drastically. I picked up a small booklet titled "answers by citing the Lords version" Which later became a chapter of second canto of Srimad Bhagavatam. This is the common perception of ancient times, by those who think we are advancing. However, why is it that the puranic histories, dating thousands of years ago, depict this very planet as a globe, when the euros thought they would fall off the flat earth just 600 years ago. Anthropologists have affirmed that there have beeen great scientific and technological advancement in some of these ancient cultures, some things have been built then that cannot even be made into our present computed generated models. The ancient kingdom of Mali was cruising around in naval vessels, wearing gold chains, their women greatly honored, when the european was still walking around like apes, having spent centuries in caves due to the effects of the great Thera explosions that Plato attributes for the destruction of the northern hemisphere. Because there is destruction of all evidence of these past cultures, we are reduced to wondering. But, according to our own philosophy, we can understand that all these human beings also have the full presence of Lord Nityananda Prabhu in their hearts, that Krsna always reveals himself to those who are sincerely trying to please the Supreme Person. Now we are in Kali Yuga, and we are unfortunate and short lived, 100 years max, and the world is stupid, unintelligent, living in squalor, and everyone here thinks they have the most advanced, liberal, and enlightened way of life ever. But the study of history is awesome, there are great thinkers out there (like velikovski, hancock, and our own Mr. Cremo) that spark our inquisitive natures. It is a classical answer to this controversy, and his teachings of other dimensions, other "strata", is quite clear. Please examine the following for the TRUE STORY: "As explained on the cover of the record album, this transcendental vibration--by chanting of Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare--is the sublime method for reviving our Krsna consciousness. As living spiritual souls we are all originally Krsna conscious entities, but due to our asociation with matter since time immemorial, our consciousness is now poluted by material atmosphere. In this polluted concept of life, we are all trying to exploit the resources of material nature, but actually we are becoming more and more entangled in our complexities. This illusion is called maya, or hard struggle for existence over the stringent laws of material nature. This illusory struggle against the material nature can at once be stopped by revival of our Krsna consciousness. Krsna consciousness is not an artificial imposition on the mind. This consciousness is the original energy of the living entity. When we hear the transcendental vibration, this consciousness is revived. And the process is recommended by authorities for this age. By practical experience also, we can perceive that by chanting this maha-mantra, or the Great Chanting for Deliverance, one can at once feel transcendental ecstasy from the spiritual stratum. There is no need of understanding the language of the mantra, nor is there any need of mental speculation nor any intellectual adjustment for chanting this maha-mantra. It springs automatically from the spiritual platform, and as such, anyone can take part in this transcendental sound vibration, without any previous qualification, and dance in ecstasy. We have seen it practically. Even a child can take part in the chanting, or even a dog can take part in it. The chanting should be heard, however, from the lips of a pure devotee of the Lord, so that immediate effect can be achieved. As far as possible, chanting from the lips of a nondevotee should be avoided, as much as milk touched by the lips of a serpent causes poisonous effect. The word Hara is a form of addressing the energy of the Lord. Both Krsna and Rama are forms of addressing directly the Lord, and they mean " the highest pleasure, eternal." Hara is the supreme pleasure potency of the Lord. This potency, when addressed are Hare, helps us in reaching the Supreme Lord. The material energy, called as maya, is also one of the multipotencies of the Lord, as much as we are also marginal potency of the Lord. The living entities are described as superior energy than matter. When the superior energy is in contact with inferior energy, it becomes an incompatible situation. But when the supreme marginal potency is in contact with the spiritual potency, Hara,it becomes the happy, normal condition of the living entity. The three words, namely Hara, Krsna and Rama, are transcendental seeds of the maha-mantra, and the chanting is a spiritual call for the Lord and His internal energy, Hara, for giving protection to the conditioned soul. The chanting is exactly like a genuine cry by the chold for the mother. Mother Hara helps in achieving the grace of the supreme father, Hari, or Krsna, and the Lord reveals Himself to such a sincere devotee. No other means, therefore, of spiritual realization is as effective in this age, as chanting the maha-mantra, Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare." Of course, our spiritual master brought the paraphenalia of Krsna Puja to the west, and he set up very nice facility for his disciples to engage in such ritual. However, ritual is a type of yajna prescribed in different ages, where brahmanicaL STANDARD were normaL, not exceptional. Thus the ritual prescribed by srila prabhupada, when viewed by a ritualist (caste brahmanas, et al), is fraught with many errors. But when we study the methodology of Srila Prabhupada, we see that ritual is not the goal, just a means where his disciple can facillitate the actual yuga dharma, samkirtana yajna. So we do deity worship, do it our best as fraught with error that it is, because we chant hare krsna while doing this puja. The temple life, the vows, the ritual, all are just a means to the real end of hearing and chanting the names of Krsna. Srila Prabhupada, throughout his teachings, emphasizes this fact, that chanting Krsna's names is the puja for this age, exclusive of all other ritualistic practice. When Lord Chaitanya performed samkirtana to give us all the example for yuga dharma, he included in his kirtana the following prayer, "Harinama, harinama, harinama eva kevelam, kalau nasteva, nasteva, nasteva gatih anyatha." Chant the holy names of the Lord Hari, Chant the holy names of the Lord Hari, Chant the holy names of the Lord Hari, continually. In this age of Kali yuga, there is no other way, there is no other way, there is no other way, for true deliverance. The three utterences are described by praBHUPADA as exstreme emphasis, that there is truely no superior method of worshipping the supreme Lord than chanting HARINAMA. Srila Prabhupada set up the ISKCON foundation to give us all a place to gather and perform this samkirtana yajna. Samkirtana yajna is performed simultaneously with all the other ritual he has made available, and the ritual without samkirtana is never approved, nor has any value whatsoever. Hope this is sufficient explanation. Bottom line, any kind of puja is perfected by the addition of harinama samkirtana, even christian ritual, even druid ritual. why not muslim or christian or jewish. Why just hindu. When Srila Prabhupada founded ISKCON, he insisted non-denomination, non-sectarian. Once HINDU is linked, we dont attract favorable hindus, we rebuff favorable christians, jews, muslims. This is human nature, and our business is to present this science free from all religious designation that is the bane of the world. Our main study concludes that we must abandon all varieties of religion in favor of surrendering to the Supreme Lord. Our science was founded on the principle that we are NOT christians, jews, muslims, hindus. I dont object, mind you. But if this is patronization of religion, it is apostacy, and against the actual teachings of Srila Prabhupada. I suggest that ISKCON use "sanatana dharma", because this phrase describes rweality and eternal function of the living being, not some fools religion that anyone can join, quit, be acceprted by or excommunicated from. Hindu is a culture anyway, not a religion, therefore, I do not object, as long as ISKCON keeps the teachings of the necessity of abandoning all varieties of religfion in favor of serving the supreme lord intact.
