  1. Srila Prabhupadas vani includes specific promise to guide his follower from within. This is the criteria for which we analyze all teachings from disciples of this Parampara. So we can take a bit of instruction from even Malcolm X, who always stated "The truth I speak comes from Allah, all the errors are mine alone." A vaisnava will gladly hear from all vaisnavas who speak the truth, and we have the mechanism to glean errors out of the equasion. This is the meaning of paramahamsa, that, like a swan, we can drink a mixture of water and milk, injesting either water or milk, rejecting the other substance. When we hear from a disciple of an acarya, the acarya is speaking thru him, but we also must discern the truth from such source. Guru-shastra-sadhu is the filtering mechanism. Vaisnavas are very keen to the old adage of "A wise man can learn from a fool, but a fool cannot learn from anyone." Shastra gives us instruction (guru-vani, because srimad bhagavatam is both shastra and guru, who represents perfectly Vyasadeva) that those literatures (or posts, discussions, internet ramblings) that describe the glories, pastimes, PARAPHENALIA (meaning the devotee associates of the Supreme Lord), lila, guna, rupa, nama, all are appreciated by those who are thoroughly honest, EVEN THO SUCH LITERATURE MAY BE IMPERFECTLY COMPOSED. If I cannot HEAR Srila Prabhupada through the medium of his glorious disciples and followers, disciples of his disciples, disciples of his contemporaries, etc, then I must concede that he has not reached any of them, that he is an utter failure. I do accept the teachings of those whom he planted the seed of bhakti because I accept his disciplic succession, fully functional although it may seem quite concealed. It is not the nectar I seek, these descriptions of faults of others, of problematic dogma, of true crime stories that become novels fit for a supermarket check out stand. I actually gladly hear from an old classmate who has contacted me for our fortieth high school reunion. She tells me she is into meditation and jesus christ, and has chanted with another classmate who also became a devotee-disciple of Srila Prabhupada and his Parampara. Using filtering mechanism, I tell myself, I can hear from such a person, because meditation is quite a grand thing for one who simultaneously accepts the bhakti yoga of Lord Jesus Christ. A meditator will not fall into a bad trap of imagined divinity with Lord Jesus Protecting them from such tomfoolery. The vedavadis may protest and call me apostate, but frankly, my deah, I dont give a damn. If we have no guru, then we cannot hear from one. It is as simple as that. Our friend alex has, for years, given examples of true initiation into this process of bhakti yoga. We are ultinmately responsibel for actually becoming paramahamsa, swanlike. If not, all we get is watered down milk or water polluted with the bodily fluids of a cow. No discernment of the truth means acceptance of lies. Hare Krsna, ys, mahaksadasa BTW Are we still on topic, or should we discuss that ugly phrase, "Discernment of the TRUE"?
  2. Yeah, but where did he say that vapu is nonsense and should be so completely rejected. If one truely is adherant to vani, then vapu is also there, because the presence of guru is in the heart of those who follow vani. The vani-vadi must actually become conversant in vani, then discuss the glories of vani. Because there is a clause in vani that clearly notes that full presence is promised, for those who actually follow. Then we see no more vani vs vapu nonsense.
  3. I sing the glories of all my gurus, they ARE the repository of all truth. What I say is perfect if I speak on their behalf, errors are my own. The humble endorsement of prospective disciples glorifying their gurus is the basis of this movement. It is the humble words of DISCIPLES that constitute the Parampara, called by my spiritual master a DISCIPLIC succession. Had I not had the benefit of such endorsement by disciples toward their masters, be it Lord Jesus, Prabhupada, et al, I would surely remain less advanced, less knowledgable, less qualified, etc. We spend our lives seeking out the association of masters, yet the vaisnava always advizes that we seek out the servants. Masters have no access to God, but servants live with him in intimate relationship always. nuff said. hare krsna, ys, mahaksadasa
  4. and no more than just two. Remember, if its hard to play, its hard to listen to. (sorry, my jabb on jazz) I like D and A, one chord per line. Then, save the complex riffs for the lead within the structure of di ryddum. Singing style? Watch the sunrise services of Yellowman I posted on you tube faves. All words come very fast, but when we chant "Purrosatam, Baladeva, Subhadra," very slow, very electric, lotsa floydian feedback. But this song can go anyway. Maybe even "alanis Morrisette" stylee. Just not jazz.:eek4: Have fun, maybe Ill send a recording, but since this song is so old, Ill have to dig deeper in my secret stash. mahaksadasa
  5. Fooled you. I was going to yuo-tube a classic reggae song, but ill do a more serious one, about the plight of the world, and the appearance of Krsna amidst the turmoil, to retrieve His Own. Hare Krsna, and merry Marymas. (What good is a birth without a mother, eh?) (Note, think dance hall regae, a la yellowmon. Fury of Puri c-1993, mahaksadasa The world has to trust in the warmth and the strength of Their healing Love Purosattama, Baladeva, Subhadra Because the world has cracked, fallen off the tracks Bodies being stacked, kids depend on coke and smack Common sense we lack, we just run with the pack We cannot turn our backs, we have to face the facts. For thousands of years, we have cries endless tears We are full of massive fear at the point of the spear Another war breaking there, soon to move over here A soldier or a prison guard for our only career. Purosattama.... Do we think we'll see a world that is truely free Is there victory for the proles like you or me Will missile factories produce peace and harmony Does the future hold the key to a different destiny. We must wear the disguise and show no surprise A world run with lies will meet certain demise We can see it in our eyes, we can hear it in our cries We have to realize that no Phoenix gonna rise. Purosattama.... Purosattama dances in every circumstance Only by His glances will we get the chance We are the seed He plants, we can slip into the trance When we turn away from the fool who raves and rants. Sometimes He conceals the Form He has revealed Without removing this shield we can never be healed We have to cling to His feet because our lives are incomplete One day we are sure to meet, we'll be dancing in the street. Purosattama.... PS He does dance in every circumstance. hare krsna, ys, mahaksadasa
  6. mechanical repetition. A new thread should be started on this point alone. My view is that the teachings of the acaryas are prasadam. Of course, our duty as disciple is to distribute prasadam, yet is it proper or even wise to distribute without tasting as well. If we view teachings of the acaryas in this light, then there is no mechanical repetition, there is just tasting first, then distributing. This means "scrutinizingly understand" (one of my favorite prabhupada phrases, right up there with phantasmagoria and gradual process) as much as practicable, (meaning apply what one understands, take a notch above the theory level), then begin spreading this movement, telling all you meet what you have come to REALIZE. There is no mechanical repetition in this process, only krsna katha, only hartinama samkirtana, bhakti yoga. There is no value in hearing teachings from those who warp the meaning of such teachings. Tape recorders are much better, because there is no additives that can reverse meanings. Hare Krsna, ys, mahaksadasa
  7. haribol. If it is innocent, then you are innocent. My basic point is that srila prabhupada initia;lly initiated us all by saying "Chant hare krsna and your life will be siblime." Perhaps when I read from those who dont seem to have basic joy in the process, well, maybe they did not take the gift. I, too, have no need for fanaticism, if this is what you are speaking of. Fanaticism is evident when folks spout off stuuff that they have yet to realize, then it comes off very weird, very shallow, and in this, Im totally in agreement with you. I did not get that vibe from our friend you were responding to, so this is where my post may read strange to some. Sorry if my post offended, as said, if innocent, innocent it is. Hare Krsna, ys, mahaksadasa
  8. good stuff alex, so glad you came to audarya, yer surf ant, mahaksadasa
  9. There is no fault in one who has come to know reality from nonsense. That one objects to one who is content with the food that is on the table is noteworthy in that there seems to be envy and even anger displayed. No apologies will come from one who has guru. There is also no condescending attitude, either, especially from those whose liberal minded gurus accept the notion of other practices that have actual spiritual benefit. This is actually covered in Srila Prabhupadas teachings. He speaks of those who say "neti, neti", meaning those whose whole goal in life is to find the flaw in everyone elses religious leanings. This is actually the mentality of extreme immaturity. It reads, loud and clear, "I dont know the TRUE from the glitter, and because I dont know, neither can anyone else. I have no faith, therefore faith is imp[ossible." This is ultimate display of false identification of the self with the supreme god, because if such a fool makes determination that something is not the TRUE because one cannot fathom such, then ultimately, the supreme authority on such matters is the fool himself. The anger is so clear that there seems to be attack against one who is merely expressing serenity and contentment with the fact of very self realization. What some fools may see as patronizing is just blatant animosity against the devotees, who, whethger christian, vaisnava, muslim, etc, all have realization to some degree of the TRUE. What, should we patronize you and say, "Yes sir, you are right. There is no way out. My guru has fooled me and has offended you by not revealing himself to you." pelau, to luv jah mean to fea no mon. mahaksadasa
  10. there is no fault. Not a blade of grass moves without the sanction of krsna. It may nopt be perfect, but if Srimati Tulasi devi grows on the premises, then Krsna can be understood to be present. If the chanting of the holy names takes place on their properties, we must see that as faultless. All life is hard, happiness comes from lightening up, becoming aloof, wishins others well, etc. hARE Krsna, ys, mahaksadasa
  11. He welcomes the religious impulse in humankind, as does Srila AC Bhaktivedanta Swami. The key ingredient in this non-sectarian movement is that the sentiments of all religious faith is not crushed by dogma difference, rather enhanced by the addition of scientific sadhana bhakti processes. Thus, althpugh we may argue a bit about dogma, we can also see the significance and benefits of sentimental devotion as a spiritual attribute, to be recognized, encouraged, and welcome by the sane struggling through this rubble of armageddonist march into history. Even in our own corner of shared consciousness, we can apply the good will that is mentioned in relationship with the season of Lord Jesus to our own. We can certainly have fun with our differences, but we share the good will with the vaiosnava community. Hare Crishna, ys, mahaksadasa
  12. Asked and answered, the lawyer will object. Krsna remembers all, no one else, even Arjuna, remembers. Arjuna was Nara previously, Ramananda Raya was the great bowman. Does Johnny Depp remember Edward Scissorshand or 21 Jump Street? What, when ya get back to goloka, youre still wondering if roger clemens took steroids? Or if Hillary will cackle her way to the white house? If, by assumption, a golokian remembered the material world, he would be in the material world. This is confirmed by all the fall stories in the puranic histories. Gods become men because they think of the human world. This is how King Bhisma was born, a couple of gods wanted to think of the material world, and while they werent from goloka, Siddhaloka is the spiritual world for all intents and purposes. haribol, ys, mahaksadasa
  13. Haribol, vikrama. I dont object to your posts, but I do want to clarify two things. Srila Prabhupada spoke, of course, of how indiscriminate intimate association with women was detrimental to spiritual growth. This is not discriminatory, but a fact. Even martial art practitioners are told this, wasted sex life has no benefit if one wants to conc4entrate on anything. That said, some followers of Srila Prabhupada have never risen to aham brahmasmi status. In other words, gender issues are often a shambles in his society of devotees. Because they have not yet grasped the very rudimentary prerequisite of understanding that these forms do not constitute the self in any way. So, if we hear devotees speaking of inferiority of women, this is because they are not yet even able to understand the basic premise of bhagavad gita. Prabhupada is being blamed for something that is simply not true. His disciples are all vaisnavas, therefore, if one judges them due to their material form, they are actually offensive, very much so. We are told not to associate with women, but we are told that we must associate with vaisnavas. When one says a vaisnava in a female form is lust, maya devi, all these ignorant terms, this only indicates the inherant lust in the male who makes these assertions, not the innocent female who is being subtly raped by such losers. While I always reafd about the brain size and other things, it is never said that Srila Prabhupada also made it very clear that female disciples possess many times more of two special qualities, so much more important than insignificant brain size (BTW There is a form of encephilitis that makes one have no brain at all, only spinal fluid, and these folks are mensa qulaity.) These qualities of loyalty and devotion are things that men only wish for. No man in the stories possesses such devotion as Queen Draupadi, who krsna served as a menial servant, at her beck and call throughout, regardless of what he was doing at the time. No one has a better grasp on loyalty as do the great queens of our literature. So all this mysogenistic arguement is a bunch of meaningless crap, and Im actually ashamed of those who should know better. Srila Prabhuopadas female disciples are such great queens and we have lost out by mistaking them for their temporary material forms. And Srila Prabhupada thought this way as well. He always asked about govinda dasi's welfare before he even thought of Goursundara, this is my experiance, and it was first hand. Hare krsna, ys, mahaksadasa
  14. You discover is the lie. There is no death, this is an illusion created by those who think that the biological form is all that there is to define life. So, as we hover, watching those left behind deal with that rotting corpse, we have some decisions to make, and they are not very easily accomplished, because the gross elements have left us, leaving only mind, intellect, and what is left of the false ego. Then we see the guide, the light, and the dogs, which door do we take? My recommendation is to treat the light like the fires of hell, for in that light is cessation of existance, a real death. The guides will lead one away from the dogs, but according to how one has lived, the dogs may be disguised as guides. So, best case scenario, is dont wait. Time. Time. Time. Not ours to waste. PS The above is what i have seen when I died three times this time around (NDEs). Not presented as absolute truth, but close, because Lord Yama was there. Helping me, not giving me to his hungry hobgoblins (those cute lil guys, I want that job when I grow up.) Mahaksadasa
  15. Haribol. Many times, I have been thought to be another mahaksadasa. Unfortunately for him, the other mahaksa dasa has been confused with me, giving him much headache. I really like the other mahaksa das, and have found a nice you tube featuring this nice devotee, disciple of Srila Prabhupada. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfK6XW7OIhw Hare Krsna, ys, the not so talented mahaksa dasa
  16. Icke and jones and the others with their views are very important to science. In fact, a program employed by the US Dept of the Navy, the Demming program of quality management, included brainstorming as the very first step to development of policy. I actually facillitated many of these brainstorming sessions which included top brass, chief executives, engineers, technicians qand deck plate labor. In these sessions, everything blurted out, even off the wall humor, was duly recorded initially. Later, as development took place, more often than not these silly ideas got developed into substantial gains. The stealth of submarines, for instance, grew from a funny guy who said that the subs needed a rubber (prophylactic). I cant say more, but this was actually done, and woulda been fool-proof if not for the misdeeds of the Falcon and the snowman (of laguna beach brotherhood of eternal light fame.) There is no science without testing in the laboratory and a record of accuracy. 50% of what is called science has failed this primary criteria, especially in the field of pharmaceuticals.
  17. Thus we are taught by our guru maharaja to become paramahamsa and dhira, swanlike and unconfused. As Vedesu has shown, there is another authentic version. The dynasty in which King Nebudcadnezzar reigned was at the end of their cycle. The history of King Tut can be compared by humanist researchers to mirror that of Lord Jesus Christ. The Sumarians have similar lore. We do not discount cultural interpretation of the same thing, that whenever there is a decline of inhumanity and the world gets to be too burdened by its citizens, intervention takes place. Maui riding the sky with his fiery chariot, Gilgamesh crashing into the surface, Ragnarok. Then there is always the greatest and hidden culture of them all, the Mdogonnes of western Afrika, plying the global seas while the euro stock was living in fear in their survival caves. All have their lore, and all can rightfully be considered accurate descriptions of witnessed events. If their is litewrary license on the walls of the caves, maybe so, but one needs experiance before any imagination can take place. Plato did not pull Atlantis out of the air, he worked from documents of writing and of sound, the lore passed from generation to generation by the storyteller, the minstrel, the guru, the shaman. I accept modern science WITH these other accounts, not over and above them, being so puffed up that it is almost cultlike in their demands for allegiance and acceptance of their view as the only truth. If they had one truth that held up to the test of time, Id consider. But their presentation is beyond all arrogance and presumptiveness, and I refuse to accept their mastery. Ill use their internet, but its rather primitive in comparison with Lord Brahma and company approaching Svetadvip or Narada appearing at will to whomever. Even Mother Mary has full reign of both the material and spiritual strata, and back to NASA, they cannot even go 200 miles up without losing half their astronauts in fiery failures. Back to the topic, if they went, why did they stop? Not lack of funding, America was never more wealthy or had a greater tax base than the decade following Nam. I know what you mean about those who see conspiracy everywhere, but just because Im paranoid doesnt mean they arent out to get me. My objection to the way the phrase "conspiracy theory" is used is a conspiracy in itself, an official US Government policy of Ridicule. Anyone with anything to say outside the box of convention can be shut down, shut up, and laughed out of the room for doubting their god. And this, my friend, is anti-scientific. Proposals should be investigated, not dismissed out of hand. The former is research, the latter is fanatic close-mindedness. Thanx for discussing, at least we can do such. If you were debunker and I was conspiracy theorist, there would only be the discord, not a sensible discussion of all ideas laid out on the table (Of the laboratory). Hare Krsna, ys, mahaksadasa
  18. Time comes to play. Words that reflect time are the teachings of Srila Prabhupada. A prime exaqmple of such time-teachings is when he emphasizes "Gradual process" so many times. He also explains the stage of kanistha adhikari, a stage where one still commits offenses, yet has desire for Krsna and acts on such desire (sadhana bhakti). The offensive stage matures to a clearing stage (madhyama adhikari) as a gradual process, not a wall to a room, very fluid. Fluctuation is natural, and Srila Prabhupada counts kanistha adhikaris among the pure vaisnava class of those going back home, back to godhead. Giving up nonsense is never of greater import than never giving up the gradual process of hearing of, chanting about and remembering Sri Visnu. When Rupa Goswami summarised the entire list of sadhana bhakti practices, restrictions, regulations, and cautions, he states that there are only two regulative principles, one, to always remember Krsna, and two, never forget Krsna. All other regs are subservient to these two, and possession of all perfect practices are worth nothing at all without these two. Just dont drop that thread, its the lifeline, hare krsna, ys, mahaksadasa
  19. Haribol, Vikram, I am being very serious here. You insist that my views must comply with the latest scientific journals, but this is what I contend as not science, but rather bling belief in convention. If science is not cutting edge, then it is academics. Academics is just a temporary fact, to be disproved by real science at a later date. Piltdown Man is a prime example, but there are millions of others. Modern scientists refuse to say, "It is beyond me." Therefore, they are inelligible to participate in any scientific debate, because they place too much value on their faulty ionterpretations. I recommended Velikovsky, but you pooh pooh without comment, probably because of the widely published countra proposals of the 50s. Yet, by the 60s, these ideas have been actually the basis for progressive theoretical scientific processes that have given rise to that which may be convention in another fifty years. I mean really, Dick Tracy's watch is so passe, yet was such novelty. Star Trek Enterprise was on the megabite level compared to the gigabyte generation that is also soon to be obsolete. Velikovsky actually used his scientific observations of the solar system structure to surmise cataclysm which todays scientists still have no real grasp on. Velikovsky actually proved that what you may refer to as myth as actual witnessed scientific observations by predecessor humanity that is perhaps much more advanced that todays pygmy world. (BTW, did I not say that Mauritius was too young to make the trip north?) He actually came to see the puranic histories as not only possible from a scientific analysis, but probable as well. Maybe one cannot perceive of the personal activities of King Prthu, but the result is there for all to witness. A theist/scientist understands that energy cannot stand alone, that energy is manipulated by the Energetic Being. Even modern science journals have authenticated the science of plate techtonics, effects of cosmic rays, planets in chaos, wobbling, flipping over, spinning backwardss, travelling in orbits aloof from the plate of the solar system. The only thing what you call mythology adds is the personal touch. And if one is a true scientist, they will give credit to the energetic, not come up with hair-brained schemes that have never undergone true scientific testins and positive result. The "energy only" theorists cannot make a grain of rice, cannot fabricate any new material from nothing. There are no creators among the scientists, only technicians that move about stuff already created by another. Just because someone has branded the histories written on the walls of holocaust survival caves as mythology, there is no scientific evidence available to disprove any of it as fact. Giants and centaurs and leprichans and druids moving huge stones with their mental mantras have never bveen disproven, but evidences of their actual existance abounds, sure as the visible bridge tro Lanka of the Waves. Hare Krsna, ys, mahaksadasa
  20. pre cambrian, pre akkadian, you know, back when india and sri lanka were part of mother afrika, before Prthu slammed india into himalaya and lanka surfed the wake. Madagaskar stayed behind, though, marcus garvey freak. Mauritius wanted to go, too, but was too little, and needed to stay to spiritually guide mother afrioca. Seriously, though, I always recommend to the progressive scientist types to consider the works of velikovsky without placing credence in the debunkers who have since been discredited themselves. This is science. First, theory, then practical application to see if theory holds up. Not just believing the latest scientific journals owned by murdock or other conglomerates.
  21. excellent, inedible, and here you were wondering if you could follow along here. Krsna kinda says that too, give up all these control freak religions, ABANDON them, shake the dirt off your feet as you leave. Didjas ever read how the pandavas left hastinapura on their way to exile? Quite profound, maybe a story is brewing, maybe Ill title it, "How to leave the temple". We shoulod always be wary. We are very slow, barely awake, easy to take advantage of. Srila Prabhupada always had concern for us in regard to being swayed by those who want to control us. The relative propaganda (I cannot call it science, because they do not even know how to count) media machine is there to dominate every aspect of your life, the ultimate fascism. Eisenhower warned of the military-industrial-congressional complex that is the greatest terror to humanity. This is science. And religion. Without the pulpit, science has no sway. This has been known since middle ages. Why lump science in with eisenhowers prophecy? Because fact sways that 85-90% of those who call themselves scientist of engineer are fully funded by the machine. No science is recognized without the sanction of the machine, just ask michael cremo or his contemporaries like graham hancock and others, or their predecessors like tesla or velikovsky. Pure science is what we want, clean and clear, without tinges of temporal propaganda or sentimental fanaticism. And old mahaksadasa folk song goes like this: Although He praised the glories of non-seers who believed The Thomas touch on Lord Jesus wounds were still quite well received Dull or brilliant blinding faith never seemed to show much style So please forgive my non-belief without the benefit of your trial Srimati Sraddha is quite different than faith. The goddess is there. Maybe her servant makes the story. mo latah, hare krsna, ys, mahaksadasa
  22. DANCE IN TRANCE -c-1993-mahaksadasa One day, I heard the singing It was to chant, dance in trance, the bell was ringing There was pounding of many drums Like the thunder from the clouds Voices praising the Lord with song A complete symphony never ruined with scales Carried from most High, written in the soul From overture to grand finale Pipers, shenais, and didjari doos Timbales, tympani, tablas Bellows, strings and rhythms Chant, dance in trance, it's what He is pleading It's needed in the towns and cities bleeding It's the focal point of life, but are we heeding? Can we change the way we think of the lives we are leading? Jeweled turbans and solid golden crowns Are just heavy burdens if heads never touch the ground Voices sound just like frogs when not singing of His Fame Sing praises to the Lion, glorify His Holy Name Hear the songs of the mother to the child in her womb Hear the drones of the pipers and mourners at the tomb Hear the sound of the teacher's lesson to his ward Hear the chanting of the minister's praise to Sweet Lord The Christ and Mohammed sing the same song At the bay of Bengal, lepers, too, sing along Ice-fishers living on top of the world Sing praises to the Master with their bodies unfurled Strings, Drums, and cymbals, voices all chime This sweetest of messages carried through time Carry through history His Glory and His Fame The Waves of the Sound of His Holy Names Harinama, Harinama, Harinama ewa kevalam Kalau nasteva, nasteva, nasteva, gatih anyatha Haribol, folks. Well, we have another timeline proposal, another beginningless beginning. What do I think if I knew the Bhagavatam was written 800 CE? Here is my answer, please listen carefully. It is not unlike my reaction when a faultfinding godbrother told me about my siksa gurus forsaking his sanyassi vow to take a wife. I said, "Who's the lucky gal?" It is of no consequence when Bhagavatam was written. The key understanding is when it was spoken, from Lord Brahma to his disciple, Srila Narada Muni. Four verses. Read it, you will find them. Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada has taught us everything there is to know in his elaborate purports to these four verses. We take it from there. Since Bhagavatam was uttered, humanity has come and gone perhaps thousands upon thousands of times, the planet is covered with layer upon layer of lost civilizations. It is Martyaloka we are speaking of, the planet where all who reside here die very quickly, never knowing what has been or what will be. So bhagavatam touches a few of us. This touchstone has effect, especially when it is personally delivered by Srimad Bhagavatam, the Vaisnava Acarya representative of the author of the literary Bhagavatam. One who knows bhagavatam, the Vaisnava, has clearing vision of reality. (S)he is not fooled by the arrangements of these oh-so-short lived cultures. There is no confusion on the aryan issue, because sumerians and druids and lakota all spring from Srimad Bhagavatam, Lord Brahma, our originator spiritual master. Lord Nitya has eternally taken residence in the hearts of akkadians, atlanteans, Panasians, the residents of the real one world regieme when only one continent floated upon the ocean of milk, Venus resting on the cradle of Himalaya while King Prthu performed his rasa. 800 CE? So whats your point? mahaksadasa
  23. Yeah, me too, jahnavi dasi, except back then, I was mahaksadasa. Oh, and Guruvani, no stay worry, brah. Lifeline can get very thin, but by holding on, it will work. We let go, he doesnt. Ive made a life practice of being in exile, and it works for some folks. And the only thing we sacrificed is our youth, which is highly over-rated. I would never trade my backache plagued wisdom for that buff surfer body the babes always hassled me for. And the bucks you coulda made maybe wouldve went up the ol nose, so now, the hard work and the meager paycheck keeps us in line. Like the great hare krsna song by Dylan, Quinn the Eskimo, we got certain benefits, poverty is not a stretch, we got it figgured out. When the rich get a rude awakening, all is equal, except we will have the experiance. Its worth something, my money sure aint. whoda thought that canadian bucks would drown US greenback that is now red white and black and blue. Just remember, there is a citizen from addis ababa who wants your gig, and he doesnt even have to move here to get it. Toilets and tombstones, there is a future in this work.
  24. One will always hear that discernment is not for the vaisnava, that one must put personal intellect in the box and just surrender. However, this idea has no place at all. In fact, this leads to sentimentalism and fanaticism, and is wholly responsible for the worlds burdens in the name of religion. They strap on the dynamite and remember how they were controlled, ambition with life tossed aside. The response is that one wraps himself in flags and the blood of jesus, and we just drop the bombs without even considering the limbs and other various childrens' body parts tossed in large holes in grim aftermaths. Personal ambition should never be tossed aside. If one does not have self preservation, then there is no life there, just zombies. A zombie doing crimes for prabhupada is a zombie criminal, nothing more. Ambition is like all neutral things, How one utilizes natural ambition is the key, not ambition alone. Just like there is no ban on anger in our theology, none at all, because anger cannot be prevented, it comes and goes like summer heat and winter cold. The ACTIONS of anger is what we are held responsible for. So, those control freaks that insist the ambition be artificially renounced, as one last party before such a leap is done should be analysis of the ambition of he who tells ya that ambition must be given up. Why is he saying this? You will find almost every time that such an instruction is merely a device to make you a servant of anothers selfish ambition. Keep ambition, use it to ones best benefit, in Krsnas service. Did prabhupada ever tell george to renounce his ambition as a musician? No, he actually sanctioned his recording of My Sweet Lord, and this person no longer was self absorbed, but rather used properly. I have desire, to get to the other side. If I give that up, who else will lead me there. See, they must lead, because without ambition, how do I take any step. Is that dude supposed to carry me? Many will demand that Prabhupada bleed for us, take all our karma, and deliver us suffering wimp babies to krsna, but what then? Its like the coffee-table mystics that demand to be free from ego. Hows that? Without materialistic ego, how can we breathe? Not easting because its a materialistic ego trip? It is just that, but such eating should never be given up. only changed to eating life rather that all the dead things we are accustomed to. Haribol, ys, mahaksadasaq
