  1. I hope theist prabhuji thinks my post is civilized.
  2. Yes! I think that Tirisilex is talking about the Shyama tribhanga form of Krishna. I don't know if he meant His other forms such as Mahaprabhu etc.
  3. Yes! He is giving you a chance to be more dependent on Him and to strengthen your faith in Him. This is wonderful opportunity. If you take things in this light, then you won't be so depressed.
  4. Do your meditation in the early morning when you do not have distractions. The Brahma Muhurta period is the best.
  5. Yes, he comes once in a day of Brahma. That is a long time from now.
  6. Yes, we can chant it but it probably wont be too pure because or attention is diverted...however there is no harm in chanting in the car. Just don't do it on your beads, you might have an accident. I personally listen to bhajans in the car.
  7. Yes, that is true but externally The Divine Couple were separated, this is what we are talking about.
  8. Please read the following verse and try to understand: atmaramas ca munayo nirgrantha apy urukrame kurvanty ahaitukim bhaktim ittham-bhuta-guno harih SYNONYMS atma-aramah--persons who take pleasure in being transcendentally situated in the service of the Lord; ca--also; munayah--great saintly persons who have completely rejected material aspirations, fruitive activities and so forth; nirgranthah--without interest in any material desire; api--certainly; urukrame--unto the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krsna, whose activities are wonderful; kurvanti--do; ahaitukim--causeless, or without material desires; bhaktim--devotional service; ittham-bhuta--so wonderful as to attract the attention of the self-satisfied; gunah--who has transcendental qualities; harih--the Supreme Personality of Godhead. TRANSLATION " 'Those who are self-satisfied and unattracted by external material desires are also attracted to the loving service of Sri Krsna, whose qualities are transcendental and whose activities are wonderful. Hari, the Personality of Godhead, is called Krsna because He has such transcendentally attractive features.' If He has no form then how can he have attractive features?
  9. No problem, it is my pleasure. I like to assist people in their spiritual quest, even though most of the time my contribution is minimal.
  10. Shivaduta is right, it is usually water for cleansing the feet. High class arghya is often scented.
  11. A person can decide by trying to detect if they have the 26 qualities of a devotee that I posted above. However basically only the Supreme Lord or a another bona fide Vaishnava can understand who is a pure devotee. I had said that as long as a person is in an authorized Vaishnava sampradaya, then he is a Vaishnava. What I meant was- he may not identify himself with a sampradaya but as long as he is following the methods and philosophy of a bona fide sampradaya then he is of that sampradaya. For example if I said- I am not attached to any sort of sampradaya. However my belief is that Narayana is the Supreme Lord and there is no form of the Lord higher than Him. Then we can understand that even though I said that I am not from any sampradaya, I follow the teachings of the Sri Sampradaya and therefore I can be called a Sri Vaishnava. Do you understand?
  12. No, not restrictive. You didn't care to be with Krishna and so Krishna sent you to the place you wanted to be because he didn't want a forced relationship of love and devotion. Yes, unfortunately this immortal philosophy has not changed your heart, so go wherever you want to, I wish you all the best. I am sure that Krishna was pleased with whatever devotional service you gave to him and will help you understand either in this life or the next the nectar that can be found in devotional service that comes in time.
  13. Thats what I am saying. I totally agree with you.
  14. gHari's name should be Prakasananda Saraswati and a person with a username like Chaitanya should try to deliver him. Hahaha. No offense gHari it was a good hearted joke.
  15. Guliaditya prabhuji, I hope you didn't get the impression that I said only Gaudiya Vaishnavas are Vaishnavas. That is absolutely not true. Anyone who belongs to the authorized 4 Sampradayas (follows the philosophy)- Sri, Brahma Madhva, Nimbarka, Rudra should be considered a Vaishnava and offered the highest respect. Your insignificant servant eternally, indulekhadasi
  16. Wonderful! Keep going like this and Lord Shiva will bestow his unlimited mercy upon you.
  17. Hare Krishna Redsox! Wake up. This is Kali yuga, the Iron age. We have not been serious enough. First of all it was our crazy decision to come to the material world. Krishna gives us that much independence because how can he force us to come to his lotus feet when we don't want to? That would be a forced relationship! Second of all we were not serious in trying to go back to godhead and so after millions of lifetimes we are still in this horrible material world. And now it is Kali yuga and we are still not ready to go back to godhead. Krishna is trying to show us the disgusting nature of the material world that is why rapes are happening so often. And still after the rapes we are not ready to go back to Krishna. This is our philosophy- No! I shall stay in the material world despite all its horrible things like rapes and murders. No matter that ever so often I must die and take birth and when I simply want to live a peaceful life I must go through disease and then old age. It is ok. I rather be here than with Krishna! Even for the person who was raped...this is their philosophy so what can Krishna do? No way does he want a one sided relationship, so why would he try to bring that fallen soul to him when that fallen soul is not ready, anyway? Who is asking you to quit your job? Krishna never advises us to quit our job so we can serve him. Krishna wants us to continue our job but in the spirit that "I am doing this job for Krishna, because Krishna wants me to do my duty." Krishna helps those who help themselves- this is my favorite quote.
  18. You should offer arghya, sandalwood, flowers, incense, lamp, and food everyday. Do it in the order I have listed. While offering each thing there are special mantras to say: First take a vow and say the following mantra: sri nrsimha mahabhima dayam kuru madopari adyaham te vidhasyami vrata nirvighnatam naya "Oh ferocious Nrismha please be merciful to me. Today I will worship you. Please remove all obstacles from my vrata." Then offer arghya and say: nrsimhacyuta devesa laksmi kanta jagatpate anenarghya pradanena saphalah syur manorathah "Oh Nrsimha, acyuta, Lord of lords, the dearmost of Laksmi, the master of the universe, may all my desires be fulfilled by this offering of arghya." Then the sandalwood paste: candanam sitalam divyam candra kumkuma misritam dadami te pratustryartham nrsimha paramesvara "Oh nrsimha, Supreme Lord, I offer you this wonderful, cool sandal wood mixed with kumkuma and camphor for your satisfaction." Then the flowers: kalodbhavani puspani tulasyadini vai prabho pujayami nrsimhesa laksmya saha namo'stu te "Oh Master, Nrsimha, Oh Lord, I worship you along with Laksmi with seasonal flowers and tulasi leaves. I pay my respects to you." Incense: kalaguru mayam dhupam sarva deva sudurlabham karomi te mahavisno sarva kama samrddhaye "Oh Mahavisnu, I offer you this aguru incense which is rare even to the demigods, for fulfilment of all desires." Continue to dipa: dipah papa harah proktas tamasam rasi nasanah dipena labhyate tejas tasmad dipam dadami te "This lamp is said to remove all sin and destroys heaps of ignorance and darkness. By the lamp illumination and glory are attained. Therefore I offer this lamp to you." Finally the food: naivedyam saukhyadam castu bhaksya bhojya samanvitam dadami te ramakanta sarva papa ksayam kuru "May his offering wonderful edible foods bring happiness to you. Oh Lord of Laksmi, I offer this to you. Please destroy all my sins." Hope this helps, indulekhadasi
  19. Pingala was a prostitute. One day she stood outside waiting for customers to enjoy her but no one came. In her disappointment, Pingala developed disgust for her material desires and became a devotee of the Lord. The lesson that the avadhuta learned was that material desires are the cause of distress. Therefore we should only have spiritual desires. Ahh...feeling feverish now. I think I better go and take some rest. It was really hard doing my rounds this morning. It was about 3 o'clock and I felt feverish while chanting my rounds. My rounds were of a very poor quality today. There is so much nectar in chanting and I missed out, especially so today. I hate it when I am sick it takes away from my spiritual life.
  20. I love the story of Pingala in the second chapter. This story is also in the Bhagavatam. Ever since I have heard Karanamrita dd sing "Pingala uvaca" I have been into that story. At the temple we were recently playing Antyakshari and when it came to "pa" I grabbed the microphone and I almost shouted "Pingala uvaca"... my group was grateful and they said if I hadn't done that they would be lost because we had already used up all the verses and songs we could think of that started with the syllable "pa".
  21. Quality of devotion will go up and quantity of anarthas will go down. It may take many lifetimes but we must not give up hope.
  22. Just see this wonderful thread started by Redsox prabhuji. What has happened? He was going on strong... This is SO sad.
  23. Yes, those were when your sadhana was not performed purely enough. Probably you were relieved when you put down your japa bag and were engaged in something else. This is the case with most of us right now but we are not giving up hope like you, because we know that with time and when we get more devotee association things will be much different. indulekhadasi
  24. Ha, ha. But you also quoted the part where I said that I enjoyed talking with him about different names of Krishna and I was sad that he fell back from such activites, so I was confused. Thanks for clarifying. indulekhadasi
  25. Haribol. Please try to chant your rounds in the early morning. You will see an improvement in concentration. indulekhadasi
