To purify the mind: there is only one solution: Think constantly about God,His names,His pastimes,His abode and His associates,who are themselves pure and spiritual and situated in spiritual/pure goodness. Since the Supreme Lord Is supremely pure,the mind gradually takes on these qualities-viz purity.Truthfulness,integrity,honesty,compassion,humility ALL THE GOOD QUALITIES NATURALLY FOLLOW once the mind is under the purification process. However merely being good is not it.It needs to become spiritual to grasp an all-spirtual God.When the mind becomes completely pure...when there is not a single trace of malice,hatred,lust,etc etc,God IMMEDIATELY bestows His mercy. Since God is causelessly merciful...as soon as He realises,"Here is a pure vessel",He immediately bestows His personal energy on that pure person. The energy enters the heart-pure vessel-and immediately makes the mind-senses-intelligence spiritual,thus making the person eligible to experience God directly,even on earth. This is only confirmed when lakhs of hindus witness a great saint reach heights of bliss and exhibit divine symptoms of achieving God EVERY SINGLE GENERATION...NOT that I'm boasting or anything..but the saints on Hinduism's roster are just too many to even count. And so WE HAVE ACTUAL CONVICTION that after the person performs constant remembrance of the Lord and develops love for Him,he ACTUALLY goes to the spiritual world. 500 years ago,hundreds of people witnessed a saint mount a divine-blinding chariot of light and ride towards the kingdom of God. His name was tukaram.

chant gayatri mantra ???? and what go to hell ?? Gayatri is a ved mantra in meters..you can't just chant it.. Worship Sri Krsna and tell Him,"I will attach my mind to you...just remove these evil spirits." Don't ask Him for money.Do this.There is no need for paath...just think about Sri Krsna all the time.Try to enact certain leelas with Him in your mind.This is the only way...and also chant Radheshyam wit every breath.

lORD buddha taught there no God at all.It is best not to read ramkrishna's teachings but it is imperative to respect him from afar,eventhough it is hard to respect some of his disciples.

This is wrong...If Shankaracharya was preaching his advaita in this age,Srila Prabhupada would have said the same thing about him. But we all know that Shankaracharya was acting like that... I honestly find prabhupad's critism wrong...maybe it was meant for his devotees-so that they would not meander towards ramkrishna mission..

in fact...Tulsidas is considered as an incarnation of Valmiki... Lord Shankara is said to have concieved the idea of RCM,Hanumanji sat on Tulsidas's tongue and rest is history.

I have quoted from Shiva purana,From Shankaracharya and from the devi bhagavatam... There's no harm in quoting ramakrishna.Agreed,many of his teachings are misleading...but then again so were Shankaracharya's...But this doesn't mean you insult him or dismiss his writings altogether. Lord Shiva has maintained that whatever conforms with the Bhagavatam HAS TO BE ACCEPTED,EVEN IF A SHAIVITE IS SAYING IT.

Regular people DO CONTINUE LIVING IN THEIR SUKSHMA SARIRA. The fact is God,His associates,His Abodes,His Names,His pastimes are all indifferent from Him. If a devotee calls upon his spiritual master in all sincerity,even though he may be in the spiritual world,he comes at once.This is very very mysterious. More mysterious is the fact that he assumes the same form in that which he had attained samadhi and not his siddha sarira. So raghavendra swami manifesting in the form of an old man is done by yogmaya. The spiritual potency is the cause,yet the work is performed on the mayic plane...Similary...a mahatma certainly eats,sleeps and passes urine...but he is under yogmaya. Thus he can perform all mayic tasks,ordinary or extraordinary,without ever remaining attached to it.

Btw,Shankara is indifferent from Sri Vishnu is not a mayavadi conclusion. That the Person,Mahesvara,is an expansion of the Person,Sri Vishnu and is indiffrent from Him,is a gaudiya conclusion.

Srila Vedavyasa wrote the Bhagavatam AFTER sRi KRsna departed.This is how it is.Leela avtaras are HARDLY EVER RECOGNISED AT THE THEIR TIME.Now we do Hare Krsna Hare Rama but when we saw Rama/Krsna we laughed at their Godhood status. All I'm saying is ,just let it be.

it's funny how Sri Ramakrishna...one of the most respected personalities(respected mostly by the advaitists) roars his confirmation,"Chaitanya was an incarnation of God" and sings,"Balarama has come as Nityaananda,Shankara has come as Advaita,Narada as Srivasa and Radhika as Gadadhara,when will You come,oh Krsna,as the son of Saci ??" and petty mayavadis think they are perfectly situated in the knowledge about the avtaarhood of Gauranga.

some one here(k ... ?) talks about Sri Gauranga as if he were some sathya sai baba...it speaks a lot about how DISGUSTINGLY insensitive and short sighted he is. As for raghu... Ramananda was disowned by the Sri Sampradaya because he wished to accept even the shudras as disciples. The bhagavatam describes- "Even the women and shudras have right to Sri Krsna bhakti." So who should we follow ?? The Sri Vaishnavas will roar,"He is a offender !" But Ramananda was simply following what the Lord willed. Tulsidasa comes in this lineage. You openly deny Ramcharitmanasa.But this is just your sampradayic feeling...a kind of elitism on your part (the teachings in that book are nonsense...just read Ramanuja's works.oh.). It is the SAME WITH THE SAMPRADAYAS ALL OVER. It should however be crystal clear: is the person pure? Is he teaching what the sastras are teaching ? Is he realised ? Lastly,can he establish-the vedas point only towards Sri Krsna/sri Visnu etc ????? this is the criteria. we cannot just insult a mahatma just because he says ,"Worship Sri Nrsingha." and not Sri Varaha. Caitanya's avtaarhood is out of question.The present iskonites are mostly mislead and can't handle it properly.It's never necessary to accept Sri Caitanya as HAri.But if we are intelligent,we should all respect him just as every vaishnava repects Ramanujacharyas...otherwise...we all go to hell. *** Caitanya bhagavata was written by a maharasika saint in the Gaudiya line.There.It's NOT vedic sastra. your first seven thoughts are good questions. even the verses from Bhagavatam-"Taking Hari's name even once liberates the person." gives the bhaktas a tough time. fact of the matter is- the mind has to jump in along with any of the activities.Unless the mind surrenders...starts to feel humble and tears come from the eyes,Bhagavan will never be attained. Srila Bhakti Vinode strictly condemned mechanical japa.He said it uproots the faith of the neophytes when there is no effect of such chanting..

but,dear melvin,surely attachment of the mind(which we call love in the material wolrd) is certainly supposed to aimed towards someone who is spiritual-shuddha sattva-Like Hari and guru. Mam ekam sharnam vraja. attachment of mind only towards Me-Sri Krsna. all the other good deeds...go on doing...who will stop us ??? but the mind should always remain in Sri Krsna. 95% of Gauranga's associates were householders.Love is a very general term.We have to be specific: Love towards Sri Krsna and guru and all the compassion etc etc towards the downtrodden. This is the ideal.

This may appear random but : When Sri Krsna told Uddhava Paramhamsa: "Go and give Brahmgyan to the gopis of Vrindavana." And so the great Uddhava went.He met the gopis and gave his lecture on Niraakar Brahm. The gopis told him,"Uddhavji you expect us to meditate on Niraakar Brahm.We would definitely meditate but we do not have control over our minds ! gayyo(hindi) !! The mind has gone !!! It is with your Shyamsundara !!!" Sri Kripaluji Maharaj : "Oh Gyanis don't call Brahm only Niraakar.If He were only Niraakar,how would He be able to become the mascara of the Gopis' eyes and chase them in Brajadhama ?" In Hinduism... There is no beginning as such.The Purusha Sukta describes God(Virat Purusha) as projecting uncountable Planetary systems from a single pore of His body.His body is Divine,Spiritual,Unchanging and He is Unborn,The Origin of all that is formless and with Form in the material universe.So say the vedas.Further,This Divine Person,The Primeval Lord maintains these innumerable planetary systems by His mere will.Similarly,by His will,after billions of years come to pass,This Supreme Person,withdraws the Universe in His being. This is the God of the Hindus. Soul. There are infinite souls.Just as the Primeval Godhead is spiritual and not material,so the souls are spiritual.Just as God exists from eternity and will continue to exist forever,even after destruction,the innumerable souls continue to exist. We see that a rock is not eternal.It is destroyed with time.But the soul and God,both are eternal becoz they are both spiritual and conscious. The rock has no consciousness. The svetasvatara upanishad describes how infinte souls appear(not born) from the Supreme Person.Even when the universe is unmanifest,the souls remain within the Supreme Person in a dormant state(thus they are never destroyed or created even.) Maya. This is the third truth.Maya is the energy of the Supreme Person.The visnu Purana talks of this maya.The Bhagavad Geeta clearly describes the nature of this maya as being the energy of the Supreme Person. Maya means material energy.God transforms maya,with His will.He brings about creation with this maya,then He Himself enters this maya's universe.The soul comes in the maya's world and according to the stored karma,the individual soul gets a body.This feat is performed also by God,Who enters every particle of the universe and thus is called all-knowing and all-powerful. Maya is not consious. So the combination of God(Who maintains His purity and supremacy and spritual nature) and soul(who is spiritual yet situated in a material body) and maya(who is inert) is the total universe. Now the goal of Hinduism is : To purify the mind.This is the goal of EACH AND EVERY RELIGION ON THE EARTH. when the mind is purified,naturally the senses are purified. Now the soul is eligible to see,hear the Spirtual Primeval Person. When the soul obtains a vision of the Supreme Person,he is immediately liberated.He becomes free from maya. The soul now leaves his material body by his own will and crosses the material universe into the region of the Supreme Person.This region is spiritual and always eternal.It is never created,nor destroyed. The vedas call this Paravyoma/Vaikuntha and christians call this Kingdom of God. Here,the soul enjoys ETERNAL,UNLIMITED and EVER INCREASING bliss in the company of the Supreme Lord. This is the supreme goal of the hindus. Now,there is another aspect of the Supreme Lord.Since He is all powerful and has infinite,excellent energies,He(the Supreme Person) is also formless.This formless aspect is all-pervasive and performs no work. other,better people will describe the ways to achieve this formless aspect but remember one thing: Even to attain this formless aspect of God,the mind has to be purified.There is no other way.

MASTER (to the devotees): "Ordinary people do not recognize the advent of an Incarnation of God. He comes in secret. Only a few of His intimate disciples can recognize Him. That Rama was both Brahman Absolute and a perfect Incarnation of God in human form was known only to twelve rishis. The other sages said to Him, 'Rama, we know You only as Dasaratha's son.' I think word of the mahatmas of the recent past-those ones whom we actually KNOW to be realised is the final word. When we accept Sri Ramacandra as Supreme Brahm,the historicity of Ramayana falls into place. Dravidians and aryans are THE LAST THINGS THAT SHOULD MATTER.

In the thread,"Maha shiv puran doubts" i posted : some forms of Uma Mahesvara are horrendous,even revolting. (obviously all the people who replied to that actually missed the word which i have now underlined.) It sounded harsh(i reread it later) but none of you can actually ever know the tone in my mind while I was posting. Many may know the characteristics of one the Mahavidyas-Dhumavati.And so she has many associates... Even Mother Kali has many associates...Are they not naked? Are they not wearing Skulls around their necks ? Do they not drink blood ? Yes they do all those things. I think 'frightening' would me more apt...since this is such a impersonal way of communicating what i feel...But it is true that people who are weak at heart(myself) cannot imagine myself going near a Mother Who has such frightening associates and a frightening appearance Herself(thus,revolting). Now comes 'some of her devotees'. IT IS COLD HARD FACT THAT MOST LEFT HAND TANTRIKS DO LOTS OF DISGUSTING THINGS-YES DISGUSTING AND MOST OF THEM ARE SIMPLY AFTER SIDDHIS. SAME GOES WITH(some of the) AGHORIS. Am i denying the Nayanmars' pure devotion,or am I denying saints like Ramakrishna ???? Same goes with the Kumaras.They sure as hell worshipped Shankra on Kailasa.These four paramhamsas have better realistion than most of the devas even. I accept this. But have you heard of Ravana ?? Yes. There are many such examples. Demons are attracted to Uma-Mahesvara-or forms of Them.THIS IS FACT. If you can't take the facts in your face...say so.I shall shut up and please for God's sake,don't delete this thread. *** A certain reply was,"Has your Guruji taught you this ????" The answer is no. Instead he has only taught: that Uma and Mahesvara are not different from Sri Krsna. But the thing is; I have eyes and a general definition of tamasic-rajasic-sattvic gunas is at the back of my head (weren't you the one who defended meat eating as harmless ?). At the end of the day, what should i have said is: Some forms of Uma-Mahesvara are frightening.And some of Their 'devotees' are tamasic in nature. But unless you consider my stance on the nature/position of Uma MAhesvara,and you read the previous line,you will obviously consider me as an offender(Daksha ?).

You cannot grasp how deep this actually runs... Shankara's parshads hardly glorify Him as Lord Hari's devotee. They always maintain Him as the Supreme Truth. Hanuman never said that Goloka is situated somewhere above His master's abode.Rama is Godhead,this was his belief. The vaikunthavasis don't confirm in the visnu purana etc. that Sri Mahavishnu is a amsa of Sri KRsna. All forms of God in Vaikuntha-Sri Krsna ,Sri Rama,Sri Narayana,Durga and Shiva are all God.God doesn't become inferior.That's nonsense... but you must be plain dumb to not know the mode of worship of some forms of Uma-Mahesvara.
