  1. Mahaksa; give a listen to the U2 song 'Walk On' from the recent 'All That You Can't Leave Behind'. In the chorus it sounds exactly like 'Hare, Hare, Hare' and a Hallelujah! [This message has been edited by Bhaktavasya (edited 05-09-2002).]
  2. Initiation day for me was like being 'officially' married in my soul to Krishna. My diksha guru was the one who joined us together for better or worse never do we part. Of course common law marriages are considered just as valid these days.
  3. And all glories to the dark-skinned man carrying the sandwhich board. What a wonderful story, a true modern parable!
  4. I agree with this statement. If all sufferring can be shrugged off as karma then no-one should mind when fanatical Hindus and Muslims kill each other, and 'compassion for sufferring humanity' has no meaning. During the reign of King Kamsa pious men like Ugrasena were imprisioned and persecuted, Devaki's children were taken away from her and murdered. Was this their karma? Haridas Thakhur beat in numerous market places; was he just getting his karmic reaction? Evil deeds are often inflicted on the innocent; to not care or try to prevent unleashed evil is to silently condone it.
  5. What I find appallingly hyocritical with some of these comments is that if Elton John or K.D. Lang came out tomorrow and said they chant Hare Krishna, the threads would be hopping with "Jai Elton prabhu! "Our Godsister; K.D. Lang!" Teams of devotees would be dispatched to various concert venues with offerings of maha-prasadam & flower garlands, with the ultimate 'score' of the evening being asked to sing on stage with either or both of them. They would have to be pro-GALVA, so proclaimations of them as sinners would be dismissed as 'southern baptist-style preaching'. In time, it wouldn't be surprising to hear that Tripurari Swami was giving them initiation.
  6. Ha! I once saw a man get kicked in the testicles and he doubled over it pain; when I had a manogram it made me think of that for some reason because it hurt so bad and maybe (one never knows for sure) I was in a male body previously and so it was still 'close to home'.
  7. OOh! 'the ranks of the self-realized' 'if you know it all, you have it all' Shiva, you must consider yourself deeply entrenched within the ranks of self-realized, or you wouldn't be so strongly convinced that you know and have 'it all'. Please read in Chaitanya Charitamrita, adi lila chapter 4, beginning with txt 103: "There is a principal cause for Lord Krishna's appearance. It grows from his own engagements as the foremost enjoyer of loving exchanges." all the way through to txt 177: "Lord Krishna has made a promise to reciprocate with his devotees according to the way they worship him." Then let us discuss and discover as gentle-persons the true identity of Sri Chaitanya and purpose of the Appearance!
  8. Shiva; here's some verses by Krishna das Kaviraj in Chaitanya Chaitamrita: CC adi lila txt 6 "Desiring to understand the glory of Radharnai's love, the wonderful qualities in him that she alone relishes through her love and the happiness she feels when she realizes the sweetness of his love, the Supreme Lord Hari, richly endowed with her emotions, appears from the womb of Srimati Sachidevi as the moon appears from the ocean." adi lila ch.4 txt 55 " The loving affairs of Sri Radha and Krishna are manifestations of the Lord's internal pleasure-giving potency. Although Radha and Krishna are one in their identities they have separated themselves etenally. Now these two transcendental identities have again UNITED, in the form of Sri Krishna Chaitanya. I bow down to him, who has manifested himself with the SENTIMENT and COMPLEXION of Srimati Radharani, although he is Krishna himself." adi lila ch.4 txt 220 & 221 "Lord Chaitanya appeared with the sentiment of Radha. He preached the dharma of the age- the chanting of the holy name and pure love of God. In the mood of Srimati Radharani, He also fulfilled his own desires. This is the principal reasons for his appearance. adi lila ch.7 txt 6 "Let me offer my obeisances unto Lord Sri Krishna, who has manifested himself in five as a devotee, expansion of a devotee, incarnation of a devotee. pure devotee and devotional energy" adi lila ch.7 txts 18 &19 "The INTERNAL devotees or potencies are all eternal associates in the pastimes of the Lord. Only with them does the Lord advent to propound the sankirtan movement, only with them does the Lord taste the mellow of conjugal love, and only with them does he distribute this love of God to people in general." BTW, could you please post the exact reference when AC Bhaktivedanta Swami said (in purport?) that Krishna becomes Radha?
  9. The edit thing doesn't seem to be working; the last post is supposed to refer to Krishna as the one who gives PLEASURE to the cows and senses, and not the one who gives PLEASE. (then again...a Krishnian slip?)
  10. Applause for Jagat! I agree, it not as if Radharani is just laying there on her friend's shoulder saying "Please me; it's actually my enjoyment that's of prime importance around here. Forget about Krishna as the one who gives please to the cows and senses, that's my gig now!"
  11. An elderly woman (83 years old) tapes his shows and insists I watch them with her. Although his readings or contacts are uncanny, I bring up reincarnation with her and she prefers to believe that after death everyone goes to a place where they look the same only younger and are there with all their friends and loved ones. She doesn't like the idea of reincarnation because she had a hard life, growing up during the Depression and has no desire to come back again. The Lord fulfills all desires, so maybe some people go to some kind of ethereal realm to meet up with their relatives for a while (a few decades being like moments outside of time as we know it). When I tell her that I want to come back again, which I do, she just shakes her head; "Whatever for?" she's asked me. I told her that it's like watching a movie, I want to see what happens to good old Mother Earth and the humans on Her.
  12. Funny that no women are commenting so far on this subject. A lot of women these days wear light cotton sports bras. Take it from woman; those restrictive harnasses were hellish. Cholies with saris were liberation! I've always held the same view about manograms; imagine having your testicles squiched like a pancake! I had one once and never again. My cousin died of breast cancer at 44 years old and my mother said she couldn't understand it, that my cousin was very diligent about having a manogram every six months.
  13. Maybe I am knowing that I am receiver, Godhead is the main radio station, paramatma is the dee jay. Sometimes more than one person will tune into the same program.
  14. Pride kept me from the vedic verses despair said 'what's new under the sun?' Ignore-ance was sure there'd be some curses And from imagined cut&paste hell did I run Love disguised as boredom got me searching looking for that highest taste around Opened up the secret vedic verses and the ever-livin' truth is what I found. Thankyou much much
  15. hmmm. Maybe we are on a same wave length after all!
  16. Shashi; Guru means heavy, heavy in knowledge so I am not a heavy, more like a feather-weight. Which reminds me of a Beatles song, 'She's so heavy', which in turn reminds me of goddess Kali. Now SHE's heavy!
  17. Why not? He said, "you can imagine", "it becomes real". You don't like it? Oh, I will create a very beautiful place in my heart, and I will imagine and fantasize that I am rendering all kinds of exquisite and wonderful services! And one day, when Radha and Syama recognize desires, They will appear in this very beautiful mandir I have prepared for Them, and accept all the service I have imagined and fantasized about, longing to please Them... And it becomes real! Isn't this wonderful?! Who will stop me, who will prevent me from doing this? Can you? B] Right on! Fantasizing about serving Radha and Krishna can only come to an auspicious end or better yet, beginning.
  18. One more thing, Shashiji; I am not 'so fearful' of separation or union. As for your earlier comment that, if given the chance, you would talk to Krishna about the 'fallen devotees', fallen like fear and beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. As long as there is remembrance of God there is no fall from Grace. The only fallen condition is forgetfulness, and a person can be clean and sober while still forgetful. And please stop calling me Masterji!
  19. Sorry, Shashi. I don't think we're on the same wave length. I'm not trying to reach an object, just engage in some light bantering and theosophical speculation mostly on what the sound of Krishna's voice is like. And the last thing I want to do is argue or defend myself from accusations of Mayavadism. As Jijaji is fond of saying; 'Lighten Up!'
  20. Agreed. Doesn't Krishna say in the Gita that when we see him in everything than we are never lost to him nor is he lost to us? When I was a young girl, 13 and 14 years old, certain songs like the Beatles 'Till there was you', 'p.s. I love you' and the Shirelles 'Baby it's you' melted my heart although I was too young to have boyfriends and never thought of anyone in particular. Only when I discovered Krishna did the mystery of who those songs were meant for become revealed. Just add Krishna, just recall the love between Radha and Krishna and it's a 'bonefide' love song.
  21. Thank you for clearing up the mystery! Delightfully Defeated
  22. All pervasive separation later; first can we go back to your original premise that no-one would believe it, if Krishna spoke in my ear, and my reply that it wouldn't make any difference to me. Each person's mystical communion with God is unique and oh so personal, don't you agree? Someone believing or disbelieving another's testimonial doesn't validate or invalidate it. As for eternal separation, no way am I in favor of that! A lifetime or more? Sure, it's tough but what can you do? Get lost in love songs that can go back far enough in time to be aptly applied to what's been said about Vraja-lifestyle; Moon River I'll be Seeing You Unchained Melody ...as time goes on there'll be more internal songs to be singing than Ananta Sesa has stories to tell. Aloneness helps to grow the spirit body, so we aren't needy desperate and too clingy when that day comes and the meeting is a reality.
