1. Are you suggesting Bhaktatraveller that there will only be harmony in this world when a world-wide varna-ashrama system is in place? If that is the case, how will it be implemented? And will the process of implementation (for such a diverse world) be a harmonious affair? I am a bit cautious when people consider their way the only way. Or was Srila Prabhupada hoping to have it implemented in smaller scale farm communities, so that the bigger world could see its good effect, and then follow suite? For many years I aspired to live in such a place, but unfortunately there was no such place and the places that be were super-selective. I am of the opinion that a functioning varna-ashrama farm living Krsna consciousness well, would be nice to see (and to live within). And very beneficial for the surrounding communities and area. But I also feel an individual heart felt life full of gratitude inspires others? Maybe times have changed in the world, or as you suggest kali has set in (is a one world system possible - is that what the rishis envisioned for today)? These days Bhakta I am not sure I desire to follow the way that considers the world to be stuffed with a poor future (degrading kali). If that is what we think, that may well be what we get! I would rather live with hope for the future... and live well... with a practical positive outlook to life... and discover the gift of consciousness and its potential. What do you think. (please do not use forceful or condemning speech or I will not be covinced) Some thoughts from your heart Mark, backed with Prabhupada quotes would be appreciated.

3. wise jahnava... all that other stuff (that we all carry) is not worth it... whereas life is! the unconscious is unlimited and not what soul is (original). somedays sarva there is real bliss, even in the gaze of a sage (salvia) flower, that is life. it would be intersting to calculate world stats, how many are perfect in this world...I am guessing it would be 0% jahnava is right and so is theist. and humility is the door way to heaven... 4. Ranjeet, your gurudeva is teaching you so nicely. Do you think jnana-misra-bhakti or karma-misra-bhakti has any place in our sadhana?
5. Nice verse. The nature of giving and receiving offence lies in one's own heart, and so does peace. Vedic thought presents the idea that the heart gets tainted or colored by the material elements. Sometimes I see the seeds of unforgiveness (that have not yet sprouted) like a big machine that lie in a strata above the earth (a collective noosphere - atmosphere) - fundamental blocks of pradhana (material energy). The unformed seed blocks drive our heart, manifesting, and creating suffering (due to wrong desire), and when we act upon them we again feed the collective drives...and the development deepens. A wheel of samsara. An evolution of suffering. We are all inter-connected. Nothing is seperate from the self. This is also applicable in the conditioned life, due to material energy being one fundamental block in its unformed seed state. The enlightened soul, by broad vision, can change that bind of the machine by being unnattached and performing duty in the mode of goodness. With that non-passion the noosphere can be activated to feed goodness (in its cycle). And eventually the soul (and its greater connections - atmosphere) will perceive God consciousness and pure evolution. So really the area of the heart is the centre of what happens, as Jesus is suggesting. Full responsibility is our lot in life. And eventually a new earth. The heavenly father is kind to his devotee, and the devotee understands through that kindness the way of the father. God consciousness. The devotee out of love chooses to move toward the Omega point...and to create an atmosphere of peace. To live well in mother earth. Cultivate gratitude, cultivate honesty, cultivate your heart! Cultivate love...then we will have the new earth coming! Do not cultivate doubt! You are it...a member of the new earth that is! Or as Jeff puts it much more simply: *note the word atmosphere and atman have a similar root. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierre_Teilhard_de_Chardin
6. Subtle Energies and Uncharted Realms of the Mind An Esalen Invitational Conference July 2 - 7, 2000 Electromagnetic and Other Subtle Energies in Psi Research Beverly Rubik, Ph.D. Beverly Rubik opened the formal presentations with some interesting theories and data that, when taken together, pave the way to a possible relationship between subtle energies and psi. From the start, Rubik pointed out that psi research is still unconsciously rooted in the paradigm of physics. In other words, when trying to explain psi phenomenon, theorists automatically turn to quantum theory without considering the fact that psi is mediated through embodied, biological organisms, namely humans, plants, and animals. Thus, Rubik challenged the psi field to move beyond the old paradigm, in which physics predominates, towards a "life-source" paradigm, in which the life sciences are central. In this new paradigm, researchers would start with the assumption that things are alive with sentience and bio-information, as opposed to the old paradigm, in which researchers unconsciously assume a life-less and mechanical context in which humans are the only living beings. Furthermore, Rubik also pointed out another unconscious tendency in psi research, which is to seek out a singular explanation for its behavior. In contrast, Rubik offered that there may be multiple mediating forces at work in psi phenomena, and our challenge is to be open to them all rather than always try to explain things via physics, and quantum theories of non-locality in particular. Does "Energy" Mediate Psi? At the beginning of her presentation, Rubik addressed this enigmatic issue. Most psi phenomena betray the normal laws of physics. For example, psi seems to be independent of space and time in that repeated experiments have shown that distance does not reduce the effects of psi, nor can psi be shielded by a Faraday cage. This has lead theorists to turn immediately to quantum concepts (particularly John Bell’s theorem of non-locality) to explain psi. Rubik, however, asked the conference participants to entertain the idea that psi may be mediated by an energy that is so low in frequency that is not detectable by our current instrumentation. Unfortunately, the use of the word "energy" is very problematic because it has so many associations. Thus, Rubik and a number of the participants discussed the need for a new word that would match the new paradigm that Rubik and others are tying to foster. Bioelectromagnetics Coming from her background in biophysics, Rubik discussed the emerging field of bioelectromagnetics, which looks at the electromagnetic field that surrounds living organisms. To demonstrate the power of a even just a slight increase in strength in this field, Rubik pointed out that a salamander can regenerate a full leg after it has been amputated, while a frog cannot. This is due to the fact that the salamander has a slight difference in the milivolts of power of its electromagnetic field. Turning to humans, Rubik discussed how SQUID machines use liquid helium to measure our various magnetic fields. Interestingly, the human heart emits the largest electromagnetic field, while the second largest is produced when we open our eyes in the morning (called an occulargram). Surprisingly, our brain waves are low on the list, even below the field generated by our muscle activity. To explain how psi information gets transmitted to our physical bodies, Rubik theorized that low level electromagnetic waves may activate receptors on the surface of our cells. Thus, a small amount of energy coming from a psychic or subtle energy healer would be capable of having a larger physical effect. To understand how this works, Rubik pointed out that what is important is not the energy content in a transmission but the information content. The physicist Fritz Popp coined the term "electromagnetic bio-information" to describe this. Rubik speculated that the electromagnetic bio-information is encoded in the human biofield (aura), and maybe our bodies receive and decode signals that then translate into physical healing. Importantly, Rubik emphasized that the wave frequencies that carry healing information are most likely ELF (extra low frequency), meaning they have less than 300 waves per second and cannot be shielded by a Faraday cage. Measuring the Biofield Rubik presented a number of attempts that have been made by various researchers to measure the biofield: 1. John Zimmerman used a SQUID machine to measure the magnetic emission of a therapeutic touch practitioner during the act of healing. He measured 7 to 8 hertz emitting from the hands of the practitioner. 2. Elmer Green has measured healers in copper lined rooms with surges of up to 100 volts. 3. Researchers at the Heart Math Institute have measured greater coherence in the EKG (meaning the electrocardiogram) patterns of those who are meditating on loving-kindness. 4. At a convention in New York city a few years ago, Rubik herself measured the electrostatic potential of Dr. Yan Xia by using a multimeter measuring the atmospheric potential. While the meter was 50 feet from Dr. Xia, Rubik noted a spurt in the energy up from the baseline of 35 milivolts. At the end of the conference, she measured up to 100 milivolts of energy. 5. Using a solid state photon counting device made by Hamamatsu, Eugene Wallace measured biophotons from people’s hands. When they intended to emit more energy, more photons were measured. 6. Hokoba Greenberg Ziberbrau put loving couples in separate Faraday cages. When one partner was given a visual stimulus, the second partner measured an evoked potential, even though the second partner did not have a visual stimulus. Marilyn Schlitz noted that Leon Standish got grant from the National Institutes of Health to do that same study. 7. Dan Winter did experiments with trees in which people did loving meditation towards a tree and thereby influenced the local geo-magnetic power spectrum. Geomagnetic and Geocosmic hypotheses Rubik emphasized the importance of including the magnetic field of the earth itself into the larger pool of theories of how psi is mediated. She noted that every 11 years there is aberrant geomagnetic activity that correlates with the sun spot cycle. Rubik also discussed the Schumann resonance pattern, which is a natural resonant frequency that circles the earth and is produced by the resonant cavity between the earth and the ionosphere and all the lightening storms that bounce off the earth. The normal resonance is 7-8 hertz, but it is disrupted during geomagnetic storms and disruptive solar activity. All the wave lengths are in the ELF range. Rubik emphasized that the Schumann resonance is a virtually identical frequency to the human brain alpha emission, which is associated with relaxation. Barbara Brennen noted her experience that healers having a good day are in resonance with the Schumann frequency. Rubik added that Scott Hill wrote a book called Cycles of Heaven in which he looked at how the changes in Schumann resonance change human behavior. Most research on this topic is happening in Eastern Europe and Russia. Turning from the earth to the universe, Rubik also asked us to consider cosmic hypotheses for psi effects. When looking closely at what time is most conducive for psi effects, the parapsychologist, Ed May, found that 13.5 hours sidereal time is the most optimal moment. One theory to explain this proposes that when the Milky Way galaxy is on the horizon instead of directly overhead, our earth is more exposed to empty space. Dean Radin added that we may need to consider how our relationship to the Milky Way influences the amount of radiation impinging upon the earth. Rubik noted briefly that Gaussian distributions for random processes (such as nuclear decay) are not so random after all, because they seem to correlate and coincide with certain cosmic cycles. In conclusion, Rubik stated that we are creatures of our solar system, and as such, it is possible that our energies, our consciousness, and even our psi abilities are linked to the larger cosmic picture. taken from: http://www.esalenctr.org/display/confpage.cfm?confid=8&pageid=69&pgtype=1
7. Religious Harmony Religion and gratitude are connected in two ways: The very core of every religious tradition is gratefulness; and, if we have caught on to this basic unity of all religions, we will be grateful for the variety by which they express and celebrate their shared essence. This provides a firm basis for religious harmony. Thankfulness is a virtue highly praised by all religious people. But gratefulness goes even further. As the mystical essence at the heart of every spiritual tradition, gratefulness unites different religions at their very center. Each tradition flows from its source in the founder’s own experience of communion with ultimate mystery. This experience wells up again and again in the hearts of all followers throughout the generations. It finds expression in the full response to life as gift, which is nothing other than grateful living. We humans experience spiritual reality under three aspects: as the unfathomable mystery that surrounds and transcends our life, as our own innermost being, and as the life breath and love energy that flows through the universe and holds all things in harmony. Different traditions emphasize different aspects of this continuum. This alone creates a great diversity, within which historical, geographic, and cultural conditions make for amazingly rich variations. The closer we are to the heart of our own tradition, the more freely we will appreciate the forms in which others celebrate the supreme mystery for which every human heart longs. taken from gratefulness.org
8. Have access to organic non pastuerized milk here (expensive though - so dont buy it all the time)- they have to sell it as a body lotion - criminal to sell it for drinking. The cows are fed the best and nurtured. Fairdinkum Jan it tastes like one is drinking cow straight from the nipple - when I first bought it I thought, hmmm do I like this experience (taste). Beautiful milk though... Yeah. And when the practicioner tells the person, 'you got that cancer coz the rivers are bad, or, you got that virus coz the trees are dying.' The patient will say, 'come on man, get real...give me a pill!'
9. In the west since 17th century to modern science, subjective experience was considered to have flaws. Therefore objective rational, and analytical viewpoints were held in high esteem. Before that rational scientific viewpoint took hold subjective experience was the natural flow. So in a sense experience of brahman could be considered as super-subjective. Here is an example. Last week I was testing a small portable digital tv antenna on my laptop. There was another tv in the room also. It was interesting because both tv's were receiving signal differently, there was a time lapse, therefore the two tv's picture and sound did no sync perfectly with each other. As an observor of these two fields I was able to distinguish the difference in the time lapse - it was a subjective experience for me, even though I was viewing two objects. Also, with that subjective encounter I was also able to perceive that the original digital signal was above the two tv's and also a higher principle than my obervation - but still known. The lower frequency objects (two tv's), and my mind, were dependant on a higher function for that particular experience, therefore a super-subjective field and encounter. Interesting to note in obervation that as one begins to identify with a higher frequency the quality of that higher (truth) frequency begins to manifest in one's being, and all fields both higher and lower become relishable. This is the mystery where relative levels begin to disperse, and subjective conscious experience begins to flow. Infact those in connection with a deeper truth are very potent beings - because they have the broader conscious experience (above relative vision).
10. Here lies one of the points of contention. Higher and lower. One thought holds to a deep seated transcendental viewpoint, where the other sees the transcendent in the living substance. Where is home really? Or is all this relativity (and word usage) only necessary to lead us from the gross. The Gaudiya seems to have harmonized that discord of the two substances with Sada-shiva...but still that harmony has not yet reached out to other schools (or satisfied them). Therefore I suggest, that is the limit set, by those still in the relative (not the deeper meaning of the teaching itself). Kind of like the little beast worshiping the big beast, and all must follow under the sway of the little beast (caught in dogma). And all schools (people) holding the mark, all must worship that beast. When infact with the mystical encounter, all that is matter (of the beast) is to be burned in the final fire (of sacrifice). Then the appearance of a new earth, which has been here all along.
11. Mate, in real life I am grumpier than the xmas grinch:eek:. It must be mas. (middle age syndrome). Lately I really do feel like I am fragmenting into a million and one pieces..and merging into a cosmic maelstrom. And spiritually livin' in shakedown street - ******************************************************** You tell me this town aint got no heart. well, well, well, you can never tell. The sunny side of the street is dark. well, well, well, you can never tell. Maybe thats cause its midnight, in the dark of the moon besides. Maybe the dark is from your eyes, maybe the dark is from your eyes, Maybe the dark is from your eyes, maybe the dark is from your eyes, Maybe the dark is from your eyes, maybe the dark is from your eyes, You know you got such dark eyes! Nothin shakin on shakedown street. used to be the heart of town. Dont tell me this town aint got no heart. you just gotta poke around. You think youve seen this town clear through. Well, well, well, you can never tell. Nothin here that could intrest you. well, well, well, you can never tell. Its not because you missed out on the thing that we had to start. Maybe you had too much too fast. maybe you had too much too fast. Maybe you had too much too fast. maybe you had too much too fast. Maybe you had too much too fast. maybe you had too much too fast. Or just over played your part. Nothin shakin on shakedown street. used to be the heart of town. Dont tell me this town aint got no heart. you just gotta poke around. Since Im passing your way today. well, well, well, you can never tell. I just stopped in cause I want to say, well, well, well, you can never tell. I recall your darkness when it crackled like a thundercloud. Dont tell me this town aint got no heart. Dont tell me this town aint got no heart. Dont tell me this town aint got no heart. Dont tell me this town aint got no heart. Dont tell me this town aint got no heart. Dont tell me this town aint got no heart. When I can hear it beat out loud! Nothin shakin on shakedown street. used to be the heart of town. Dont tell me this town aint got no heart. you just gotta poke around.
12. sanatan, most of us know you, coz we been here long time...you are nice bloke, with lots of good things to say...it was nice to see you call in again i like reading your posts from when you were here months back the only thing that needs de-fragging is this jumble on my shoulders om shanti...sorry
13. Thx Jan. I will place this in sticky notes, as a reminder to de-frag the fragmented....my new Medion (keeping it clean) is surely the way (and the life)...God speed!
14. this was on a person's window this morning:
15. Thank you Theist...a real nice article. Mea Culpa!
16. cool...thx... really nice album, hey? might make a few copies to hand out this xmas
17. Maybe Melvin. I can only speak personally, but the best place for me at the moment is terra-firma. God has given that (place and body) in wisdom. Then oneday, one birth, I may know what love is... Time exists here, and I am glad it does. I do not see much benefit in abstraction (in my bhajan), but great benefit in application. Here now, there is time to learn and purify (vaidhi-bhakti) one's mind. Then the mind will be spiritually prepared to seek rasika devotees association - and taste that conjugal rasa in its purity. Accepting of where we are each at, that is a key to surrender, as Beggar is sharing (I presume).
18. A New Phase Begins Whatever the experiences in the womb, the time arrives when this situation must come to an end. The fetus must undergo the phenomenal transition from a symbiotic aquatic organism to an entirely different form of existence. Even with the smoothest deliveries, this has to be viewed as a major ordeal, a true heroic journey, associated with considerable emotional and physical challenges. As the delivery begins, the child's universe within the womb is severely disturbed. The first signs of this disturbance are fairly subtle, coming in the form of hormonal influences. However, they become increasingly dramatic and mechanical with the onset of uterine contractions. The fetus begins to experience intense physical discomfort and a situation of extreme emergency. With the early signals of the beginning of the birth process, the fetal consciousness is introduced to an entirely new set of experiences quite different from what it has known up to this time. These are the experiences that are associated with BPM II—the loss of the amniotic universe and the engagement in the birth process. This phase of the early drama of life is the subject of the next chapter.
19. The two main things that keep the world turning hey Melvin. Desire for food and (prosterity). I have never considered a waffle as evil. (I thought chocolate was at one stage:rolleyes: - silly really). But sex seems to get the bad wrap! Poor Eve! Maybe we should have followed her and worshiped the serpent. Let's face it, there is some truth to Kundalini. Anyhow...back to my cave with the 'coiled serpent'. cya... *beggar knows that I am a yogi and not a bhakta. wish I was a bhakta. things would be simpler that way....instead of having to contimnually align my higher and lower chakras and de-fragging my old fragmented brain!!!
20. Yes, you are right. And that is why Beggar is not such a big fool like me. He has chosen to keep realizations within...unlike me who just waffles words. But I suppose there is some method in the madness. And hopefully speaking the positive can uplift us in some way... In reality, many of us are really fallen. And the quiet who speak very little have always been the wiser ones. And some who have spoken much, oneday will be quiet too...
21. It is a fair analysis Beggar. Both realities do exist. But when it comes to bhajan (even those who experienced siddha-deha - like Bhaktivinoda) took the position of seperation - and even the humble position of Caitanya's quote you have expressed. This is mercy. As far as I can understand in my own bhajan, this world is very conducive for cultivation of love in seperation. Infact, even when one can intuit the kingdom of God everywhere (even in this world) that sense of seperation is deepened. Love seems to be that way, even in its more undeveloped stages. And liberation, even amidst the greatest suffering, takes back stage. In love, lack and falleness becomes very prominent! Therefore as it matures that subtle nuance remains, to enhance the various emotions. And in that lower position, all items of life can be applied in service and application. Every thought. Even for the developing neophyte. I would even go further and say, that raganuga bhakti is our present lot (if we are qualified in due course). To follow the ragatmika devotees (nitya-siddhas) - not to be exactly like them, but to learn their mood. I feel as raganuga's we take the position of followers of Sri Rupa (Caitanya lila) and meditate on Sri Vrindavan Dham (in India - if you know what I mean). And in due course, with that humble bhajan we are taken to Gokula for deeper association with Ragatmika's then home>>>>Goloka. Not that we practice bhajan with the mood that we are already there! I am not against seeing the world as eternally perfect and taking the vision of uttama adhikari, but I am convinced that accepting the madhyama platform and worshipping the sacred from a distance, for this time being, is the safe path of requesting admittance into Sri Sri Radha-Krsna lila.
22. Diddly dum...diddaly dee... All Good Boys and Girls will see... Merry Christmas and good cheer. Tradition seems to be accepted, ringing true some times without need of reason. Transforming from day to day, year to year, and from millenium to millenium. But all the good boys and girls see, from early days, that the gifts are many beneath the tree 'ever-green'. The children eagerly know that one gift at least awaits for their unwrapping. Beneath the tree in Northern Lands laid the Raindeers spoil, of white and red earthy type. Lifting the Rain-deer onward, carrying the Gift Giver....who enters through the secret door. These are the gifts I found on my Fair-Travail this year...by an Elven grace. This year Santa-Claus will come, in the spirit that has always been. In the hearts of the dreamers and the imaginative. The young can feel it, see it, smell it...or sense it in the Air. That is the Good Cheer! Merry Christmas all you small and meek! Now gently on this Fair Travail! Merry Christmas to you all (Audaryians)!
