  1. Pandu das, No offenses are made by such honesty. I and many others had some interesting LSD trips before taking up the chanting. But let us not digress. If we do fall away the answer is prayer and association. That will lead to renewed chanting. You've past the stage of drug induced states.
  2. Priitaa, Nice site. I was fortunate to have met Jayananda and he engaged me for a couple weeks on building Lord Jagannatha's carts. No an easy task since I have no building ability and couldn't even build a box on my own. Amazing soul. He kept so many people engaged. Some times he would disappear from the lot where we were building the carts and then shortly show up with piles of Krsna prasadam. He would drive up and distribute it to us himself. I never understood at the time but I have grown some since then and now realize Krsna allowed me some brief association with one of His saints. Such an oceanic heart.
  3. But what makes you think it would be so close?
  4. One thing to remember is that those four regs are for strict following by those that have taken vows to their guru concerning them. They are not prerequisite for chanting. That said caffein and stimulants in general tend to increase brain activity in a way that is not so conducive to meditation. Someone said Jayananda das would sometimes drink a cup of coffee during Ratha-yatra preperation to help him get more service done. I DON"T KNOWN THAT TO BE A FACT myself. But I do know he did the service of 100 men.
  5. On another forum many people are discussing clones and wondering if they have souls. And if they say yes no one is able to state when that soul arrived. Have we fallen behind? This question most likely will not have been taken up in the past writings so what do we do? How would you answer that question if it should be asked of you? Most likely it will be in the near future.
  6. A perfect wall paper for some mediation centers. Now instead of staring at a dot on the wall people can stare at Krsna. True samadhi.
  7. Pure evil. Like the tobacco industries campaign to hook them when their young and you'll have a customer for life. Don't get too comfortable folks this is a war.
  8. that is why I asked to hear more from you gopaldas in addition to the other posts.
  9. Often when anger shows itself and we get mad at someone it can be found that we are not really all that angry at that person but really someone in the past or a whole constellation of things that have built up. This can most often be traced back to childhood or some lingering impression from a past life. It is tricky to find out the real source beyond the immediate drama that first appears to be the source. An example is: say a bank teller is perceived to be a little rude and I blow up in her face. That's the drama but she wasn't the cause. The cause lies much deeper. She was actually a victim. It is like a nasty virus as it spreads. That bank teller may have to swallow it now but it and other experiences like it build in her also and she may later blow up at her professor in class. And on and on. Chanting will eventually clear all this stuff up for us, but there is no reason one can't chant and also consult with a professional. I would avoid the typical pyscho-analysts and seek out an experienced pyschologist who practices past life hypnotherapy. Beware of the flakes and self promoters. Seek help from our Inner Guide, the Lord Hari who can take this burden off of you. It is good you are recognizing this and dealing with it. Good luck Hare Krsna
  10. our own, in intially trying to claim Krsna's energy as our own. The rest is details.
  11. If he suddenly appeared in a Hare Krishna temple, would the authorities ask him to give class ? /images/graemlins/smile.gif If we expand our perception a little could we appreciate at least some measure of Krsna consciousness in those Christians who, rejecting societies version, choose to meditate of Christ's appearance?
  12. Hare Krsna Mahak, Like you this is my main association and often my only, even though I live a five minute walk from the temple. My hermit like nature is dominant I guess but not total, so I also greatly value this and other forums where I can make some contact with others who kindly remind me of Krsna. You are certainly one such kind soul. On the mundane protest lines we may be on the other side from each other by in the blessed kirtan I am right behind you. I am presently trying to learn a more mature and refined way of communicating and will try not to get too involved in such heated topics that really only serve to divide. Yoga afterall means union. My positions remain but in time I hope to quiet my false ego as far as possible in expressing them. I have found a mountain of a "I am siksa-guru, so listen to me" attitude in myself and my previous posts. So much work to do, so little time and no real strength to complete the task. Krsna is making me remember the sparrow on the beach and Garuda. Without that hope I would have floated to the void long ago. What was that about controlling the urge to speak? My apologies to all I have offended by this brusque and ungenerous nature that currently encases me. My respects to all. ps whatever happened to BB anyway?
  13. Yasodanandana, I agree, a festival celebrating the Lord and His devotees everyday is Vaikuntha. I just meant I don't think he laid it out as something that must be offically celebrated in the temples. I would also like to hear if he mentioned this at all. About the x-mas thing. It is most common in America to use this term. Mostly by the secular commercial interests that want to ignore Lord Jesus and sell their jeans and other trinkets instead. It may have had some genuine relevance with a connection to the Greek language a couple thousand years ago but now its just a way to cross out Christ as irrelevant. I know this was certainly not your intent. Just another of my little crusades. But since the transcendental essence is in the name I think we should keep pronouncing it. Haribol
  14. "Critics of the war in Iraq have paid little attention to the ongoing discovery of mass graves all over the country, preferring instead to debate endlessly the ''reasons for going to war.'' Accordingly, the mainstream media has done its best to ignore the mass graves filled with the bodies of men, women, and children. The topic is avoided because it hints at the possibility that this was, as President Bush has stated repeatedly, a just war after all. "
  15. If you really think it best to stay back and chant I wonder why you are also expressing your political opinion. That was my point. As for myself I have finally, hopefully learned that these types of arguements go nowhere. So I will occasionally post some article or short comment but decline to debate the subject. Hare Krsna
  16. pay special attention to that day irregardless of what the "Hare Krsna's" decide to do. If Prabhupada's disciples hold some rememberance celebration that would be very nice, but I don't think Prabhupada told them they must, just like every Avatar's appearance day may not be specifically honored, like Lord Buddha's for example. Hare Krsna ps I thought Vaisnava's were resectful the to the Lord's name. What's with x-mas? CHRIST-mass or CHRISTmas sounds much better.
  17. One who knows the transcendental nature of My appearance and activities does not, upon leaving the body, take his birth again in this material world, but attains My eternal abode, O Arjuna.- Bhagavad-gita 4.9
  18. to like the word spiritself more than spiritsoul. Somehow to me it gives a clearer meaning.
  19. caffein content plays a part. Better to drink that grape juice fresh, red or white. Hare Krsna
  20. for those translated by Srila Prabhupada http://vedabase.net/
  21. to read this info. is the Srimad Bhagavatam available online free here http://vedabase.net/ Second canto may have what you are looking for but best start from the first if you have time. Hare Krsna
  22. Did I say the US or anyone else was blameless? May I ask why you are commenting if you think it best to stay back and chant?

    PURE devotion is liberation.
  24. Not sure if he is or what type. Everyone is harassed by this material energy and money and fame cannot protect us. It's always good to hear of celebreties taking up some practice in hopes of finding some internal peace rather that drugs and booze which is too often the case. It helps start a trend that their fans may pick on. Of course we all hope this leads to chanting God's names and it must to be truly effective in the long run.
