  1. it is confusing. Good for organizational unity but it appears to me to weaken the guru disciple relationship. I mean shouldn't someone who is initiating one into Krsna consciousness themselves be able to hear Krsna's instruction to do so from within their own heart? What happens if Krsna says do it and the GBC votes against you doing it? Also if one of these guru's decides to work on his own he is supposed to surrender his disciples to ISKCON at the door as he leaves. So whose disciples are they? The guru's or the GBC's? Of course the abandoned disciples are told to then take shelter of Prabhupada until they can get reinitiated. Which brings up the question that if I can still take shelter of Prabhupada as my guru then why do I even need another offical one from ISKCON? Why did I need the one that just left? Is this what they call soft ritvik? Is ISKCON already ritvik in essence, even as they verbaly decry it?
  2. I know what you mean, what is left to say. I guess they aren't considered mundane being GBC. Which raises the question that since they aren't mundane wouldn't they all see the self-effulgent nature of any person in question and therefore be expected to vote the same on any one candidate? So one member should speak for all? Why the need for a vote? And why are there dissenting votes? What does that mean? But some people desire an ecclesiastical guru so Krsna provides.

  4. In that case I wouldn't skip school when the pep rallies roled around.
  5. Is anybody going to bother and ask Supersoul? Does He get a vote too?

  7. if people demand it from their politicians and if they vote, don't vote for Democrats then it will become a reality in a few short years. Hare Krsna High nice ring to it
  8. One day when just crossing through the gate into MVT Gargamuni who was just ahead of me turned around and said "let me show you a most disgusting thing"(words to that effect). He showed me just outside the gate a McMurder burger wrapper right in front of the gate laying in the holy sand of Raman Reti.

  10. I want in on this line too. McDonalds has even managed to set up a McMurders just outside of Vrndaban. May lightning strike that particular shop some night soon as a sign of Krsna's displeasure.

  12. You should ask him I think. I have never heard that. If you are more attracted to Ramachandra then let no one stop you.
  13. I see we have a couple here who are into showing off their hmlt(or is that htlm?) skills. OK I'll go to that page and someday when you are not expecting I will manifest my skills in an astonishing manner. BEHOLD..... Thanks for the link LE /images/graemlins/smile.gif
  14. Prabhupada said it can refer to either Balarama or Ramachandra it doesn't matter. This mantra is eternal. I don't think we should see it as a static thing. Nor should we impose our minds meanings onto it. One person may be chanting it with more internal emphasis on the name Rama and thinking of Ramachandra. Another Balarama. Who could say this would be wrong. I have also heard more esoteric(to me) explanations where the whole mantra is understood as Radha/Krsna lila. I don't see these as contradictions.
  15. Of course babhru is not suggesting that one should try to wait for marriage even though the desire may be strong. Actually conservative Christians have been fighting to have abstinence( as no sex before marriage) taught in the public schools sex education classes for years. The schools being controlled by the left have fought them at every step, favoring handing out of condoms and abortions to school children instead, calling it more practical.
  16. Priitaa I also have ADD. And then I made it much worse by consuming large amounts of pyschodelic substances, LSD shrooms, ganja etc. What worked well for me at one point was cylert. An allopathic concoction, prescription only amphetamine related drug. It was great. But then i read it was taken off the Canadian market due to some people having liver failure due to its use. So i quit right then. Choline helps alot as do a lot of other things and herbs. The best by far though has been Calamus root. Vacha in sanskrit. AKA sweet flag. Without this herb I can't finish a book before I have two or three others started. LOL seriously. There seems to be two types on the market. i don't have the botanicle names. Both help but one is much stronger. I hate the taste but some don't and just chew a little peice in their mouth. They say they get immediate benefits. I grind the root up in a coffee blender and then mix the powder with OJ or something else and drink about a 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon at a time. A small amount is all one needs. The effects take longer to show up this way than chewing a peice but i hate even the smell. He shouldn't take too much at once or he will induce vomiting. Take throughout the day everyday and the effects of ADD will disappear. Yes I mean disappear. Hippies try to get high on this herb and chew large doses. All they usually get is sick. In Ayurveda it is said to clear the subtle nadis and it is said that past practioners of kundalini yoga would take it to help prepare the sushumna for the appearance and movement of kundalini-shakti. Wonderful herb. I hope he tries this and let's us know how it worked for him. PS buy in bulk and skip the expensive pre-capsulated versions. It is rather cheap in bulk considering how little one must use. Hare Krsna
  17. Choline has been proven to be very effective in memory improvement. This is well known. What is not as well known is that it has very positive effects on the developing brains of children in the womb. These positive effect shows benefits in improved learning abilities in the child after birth and as the child continues to grow. Pregnant or will be? Please consider extra choline. Do a google search and learn more.
  18. would that doctor get a birth where he could be introduced to Krsna?
  19. So I am back afterall. I'm simply out of control. You see Mahak I don't fault you for an interest in the affairs of the world. I just don't see it as an anartha or maya when connected up with Krsna. That was my point. Social progress (towards Godhead) is the point of varnashrama. It's the point of government. The Pandavas were involved. Krsna Himself is involved. The brahmana's who got rid of Vena were involved and so was Maharaja Prthu. The way i see we are not going to be able to impose some romanticized version of Vedic culture on Western society. We have to work with what is actually before us to move society towards some essential principles that are laid out in the shastra without worrying about the externals too much. For one thing there is no more monarchy. The idea of a saintly king may be best but its time is gone for this age. So we are left with this democracy with all its faults. I see the nexus between animal slaughter abortion and war as brought to light by Srila Prabhupada. As these predominate in society self realization because a near impossibility. To deny some soul a human form which is the one form from which self realization can be realized is to me the height of demonic acts. The Democratics are sold out to the abortion rights lobby 100%. therefore I oppose them. Other reasons also. They are all sold out to hard core capitalists. Kerry who wants to be President is married to the heiress of the Heinz catsup fortune. The Rockefellers are Democrats. The Kennedys' are Democrats. To think the Demos are the peoples party and the Republicans are the rich capitalists is really too simplistic.
  20. Please share this link with someone who supports this factor farming by buying animal products. It is short and only takes a couple of minutes. This is the updated version narrated by Alec Baldwin. View it online http://www.meetyourmeat.com/
  21. This has already happened in the 1970's and the results were disasterous. "I can lie and steal because I am doing it for Krsna...I'm a devotee and beyond karma..etc"
  22. No public schools do this presently, that is the problem. With the educational system opened up by the voucher system there would be founding, from the vouchers themselves, for new schools to be built. Hare Krsna schools, run and taught by qualified devotees. With pictures of Mahaprabhu and Govinda on the walls even. The government could not force anyone to go there or prevent anyone either. It's none of their business.
  23. Hazing, that's it. funny but not really. Yeah these doctors are in training and should be well rested and aware as possible. This system is geared towards emergencies. Kind of a patch 'em up and move along sort of approach. Not too wise. When Clinton was president he actually paid medical schools to NOT produce more doctors as he thought there were already too many.
  24. A few years ago the allopaths were still receiving only six hours of nutritional training in med school. Can you believe that?! Things may have changed by now. They also tried(the FDA) to make it illegal to sell vitamins without a prescription from one of these allopaths. The head of the FDA then was I think Kessler. The Republican from Utah, Orin Hatch, saved the day, by pushing through a bill to protect our rights in this matter.
