  1. Tulsidas says: jo sampaty siv ravanahi dhinhi diye das math soyi sampata Vbhishanahi sakuchi dhinhi Ragunath. Meaning What riches Ravana attained from Lord Siva after sacrificing his ten heads, the same riches is immediately got by Vibhishana just after his surrender to Raama. Surrender is the best means to attain the God. Vibhishana is the typical example of such surrender.
  2. Hello all, In my opinion Krishna closes His eyes to think if I am going to give Mukthi to Pootana who has come to kill me; what I am I going to give all the Gopikas who love me with pure devotion? What is your opinion?
  3. If Education or devotion does not make a person polite, such education or devotion is waste. May God shower His grace on us to be polite. HariBhol!
  4. Dear jndas, Why do you get perturbed by the truth? Do you justify janadanaprabu's words? If you do not want matured people to participate in this forum, the forum will end up with nonsense. Learn to face truth. HariBhol!
  5. Dear jndas, I do not have any hatred or prejudice for ISKCON. Infact I am a life member of ISKCON. I feel sorry that few people of ISKCON bring bad name to whole of the organisation. Donation for admission to ISKCON School at Mumbai is my personal experience. I feel as a teacher, education should be given free of cost, if not possible, at lower cost. Do you justify the compulsory donation? Tulsidas says in his Raamacharitmaanas: kama, krodh, madh ,lobh, sab nath narak ke pant. Meaning lust, anger , pride & greed are gate way to hell. Krishna also says same thing in Gita in 16th chapter. Truth is bitter. I was not angry when I wrote the previous message & now also I am not affected by your comments. Those who are not able to control their anger when they face the truth have to do sadana to overcome it. Let us see how many of us accept it & do? HariBhol! viji
  6. Dear gauracandra, Even some Hindu cults like ISKCON started preaching our religion like other religions which is not at all necessary. They want us to accept their views with out questioning. Chaitanya MahaPrabu started Krishna Prema through bajans, as it is always easy to attain God through music. Chaitanya Prabu's followers also had faith in their Guru's words & started ISKCON. But few fanatics bring bad name to ISKCON by their wrong interpretations. In the name of School (where education should be given freely)ISKCON (Mumbai)people are collecting donation of 15 thousand per child in 1995. Now I do not know how much they have increased. They are making money like business. Even education has become commercial in the name of God.From Balaji's money (In Andra pradesh )many free services are done to devotees. Education in Tirupati is very low compared to any city in India. Hostel fees,is very low. Hospital services are free. So many facilities are done to devotees. It should be like that from ISKCON also. But unfortunately it is not so. In the Kaliyuga even religion has become commercial, money grabbing agencies. Whether there is connection between religion & economic development, There is surely connection betwwen religion , money & power hunger. Hari Bhol! viji
  7. Dear shvu, I really appreciate your knowledge & maturity. We can not argue with immatured people. Maturity is not related with age. 5 year old Prahalada was more matured than his father Hiranyakasipu. When our Dharma gives us freedom to dispute who are these ISKCON people to refuse it?. Purpose of Hindu religion which teaches tolerence loses its value if we are forced to accept which we do not agree. Hari Bhol! viji
  8. Lord Narayana took 10 main avatars. Of this Rama & Krishna avatars are called as paripurna avatars. Because God has taken the human form to show how to live & what to follow. Act like Rama & do what Krishna said. We are fortunate to get this human body; we are fortunate to think & differentiate, which other animals can not do. Even after obtaining the human body if we do not realize God it looks like exchanging diamond for glass. Let us stop arguing whether Krishna is the original form or not. Let each individual choose his form & worship. The main purpose of worship loses its value if harsh words are used while arguing. God is One. Let Him be Narayana, Rama or Krishna or Hari. He is the Supreme Reality. He is the shelter, storehouse , beginning middle & end, welwisher etc. Hari Bhol!
  9. Dear ggohil, Srimad Bhagavatam is the proof or Vedic reference for the avatar of krishna. Lord Narayana took 10 main avatars to protect His devotees(Dushta nigraham & shishta paripalanam). 9th avatar is Krishna. To kill Kamsa & Sisupala Narayana took the avatar of Krishna. After killing Kamsa & sisupala also He was protecting His devotees. Even today He is protecting His devotees. As Shvu pointed out Incarnations of Lord Vishnu other than Krishna are not inferior. Rama, Narasimha, Vamana , or Hari or Krishna, He is the same supreme God. Which ever form you like you worship Him in that form. Do not force anybody to accept your form. Hindu religion is against compulsions. Hari Bhol! viji
  10. Dear animesh, You are correct. ISKCON people can not expect every one to accept blindly what their Guru says is correct.Lord Krishna Himself will not like such type of impoliteness in His name. First of all let me say that Hinduism is like Banyan tree & it will spread itself. We do not need any preaching for spreading it. If at all non hidus need any preaching ; they should be correctly taught about Bhagavatam which clearly says Krishna is one of the avatars of Lord Narayana. Narayana is the Supreme God. By the impoliteness of few people the name of ISKCON gets spoiled. What is the use of being a devotee of Krishna if you do not have politeness? Janardana Prabu's ahankara is clearly shown in his words. Lord Krishna never likes the persons who speaks harsh words. First let us learn to speak sweet words then we can talk about God & philosophy. Hari Bhol! viji
  11. Maha Vishnu (Narayana) took the avatar as Krishna. Vishnu took the human form for the sake of His devotees. He also showed ,every one who is born has to die one day by dying Himself at the age of 125 yrs. Also when Krishna showed His Visvaroopa He showed the form of Vishnu with everything in Him. So Krishna is one of the forms of Vishnu( Narayana) Who has Form & is formless. Narayana is the Paramodevata whether ISKCON people agree or not. Krishna is one of the avatars of Lord Vishnu. He is one of the forms of Vishnu. Krishna surely had a form as Krishna. Krishna was born from the womb of Devaki & died like other human being. It is Vishnu's lila which revealed Krishna's form & through Him we are fortunate to get Gita. It is therefore Narayana is the Ultimate God & Krishna is one forms of Narayana. Hari Bhol!
  12. Tilak also reminds us that one who has born has to die one day. That means death is certain for the born. We should be prepared for our death also. In this world we are prepared for everything except death.
  13. In my opinion, tilak reminds us that when we die we will be either burnt or burried. If burnt you get ash that is what is represented by vibhudhi. When burried we have to be burried under the sand that is what is represented by Thiruman. Chandan represents the devotion of Gopikas. We should love God like Gopikas. Also Tilak can be used to concentrate our mind by focussing our eyes on tilak when we do meditation. Tilak can also prevent mesmerism because we are blocking the spot (by tilak) which can be used for mesmerisem.
  14. Dear nitai, Thirumizhisai azhvar is called as Bhakthisaran, Nila is Thirumangaiazhvar & Vipranarayana is Thondaradipodiazhvar. viji
  15. Maha Vishnu took avataars as Raama & Krishna. Lord Vishnu on His own will took the humans form for the sake of His devotees. As Raama He has never showed He is God. But Krishna from the beginning showed that He is God. Krishna proved to the world that unscrupulous things can never succeed & Only dharma will win. He gave Gita to the world through Arjuna. As long as we understand the saramsa of the Gita that is enough. Why to bother about word to word translations. In my opinion ahankara is arrogance& pride. In Gita ahankara is mentioned along with kama,or krodha orloba. So the word ahankara is ego which should be shedoff whether false or true. Unless we shed off our ego we can not go forward in the spiritual path.
  16. Dear animesh, Tulsidas says,Binu Hari krupa milahi nahi santa. Payo Parama vishramu, Rama saman Prabu naahi kahu! visit my sites; http://www.geocities.com/viji_53 http://geocities.com/kvv_53 You will like it. I have talked about Rama there. write your comments in my guest books.Hari Bhol! viji
  17. Raamayana possesses unique power. This is the reason why It is sung with love and devotion to this day. It is true that Raamayana has given the highest truths of religion and philosophy, in a charming & graceful way that even an ignorant person could be benefited by It. It commands great respect from rich and poor alike. Written Centuries ago, It still retains a freshness and charm almost unrivalled in the literature of the whole world. There can be no one who can not be thrilled and inspired by the great events and noble ideas of the Ramayana. It has done a great service in the domain of spiritual development.
  18. In Gita when Krishna said shed off your ego, He meant our pride. He meant as long as we do not shed off I & mine it is not possible to reach Him. Self is meant by the word atma. Why He meant the word self realization?. Devotees should not be fanatics. Our Vedas allows all sort off questions through JabaliMuni. Gurus should encourage queries by the desciples.Though I am also ISKCON life member, sometimes I feel ISKCON people are a bit fanatics which is against our religion. Everybody must be encouraged to understand the real meaning of Gita irrespective of the transolaters. As Shvu said I read one translation in 9th chapter 32 sloka, saying sinnesrs like women, vaisyas & sudras. I donot think Krishna would have meant like that, if He said that how can you say Gopikas attained Krishna easily than Gopalas? Some male chuvanist must have interpreted like that. I do not want to hurt anyone. At the same time you can not expect everybody to follow what you think is correct. HariBhol!
  19. Dear Melvin, The Damodara lila was played by Krishna to show that He can be tied by devotion. And also He shows that He can not be tied as long as the person is having the feeling of I & mine.If you leave the feeling of I & mine He will be tied by your devotion. HariBhol! viji
  20. Nammazhwar wrote in his one of the pasurams in ThiruvoiMozhi The body is in a fit state. We must be thankful to the Lord for this;but at the same time we must use body for doing service to the Lord & good deeds. We must not let the favourable situation to be exploited for adding to our sins. So go to AZhagar koil, perform suitable services. It is more proper to do these services when one is in good health. Even Devas & Nitya Suryas perfom pujas for their interest there. So we also must go & prostrate to Azhagar with HIS Consorts, who take a stoll now & then.
  21. Alavandar in Tamil means one who has come to rule. Really he was a great scholor. I am priveleged to come from South India.
  22. Immorality can never be thrown out with money. you may close the eyes of people around you with money & not the God who is watching your every movement. The points you have said are the signs of Kaliyuga. You may earn abundant wealth but won't be able to take it with you when you are leaving the world. Every one has to die one day. We have to remember that & avoid forbidden acts. Our actions are responsible for our rebirth. God is impartial, why is then one is sick & one is healthy? one is rich & one is poor? It is because of our karma. That is why Gita says destroy the desires. In the 18th chapter Krishna says sacrifice even Moksha. Do not desire anything. Desire is the root cause of all evils. Two negatives can not become positive in reality. Just because churches close their eyes to immorality(for what so ever), it can not be justified. Hinduism even today says control your senses so that you won't commit sins. Therefore forbidden acts should be avoided under any circumstances. Hari Bhol!
  23. Even the Almighty God in His Avatar as Krishna took the unique position of the teacher to inculcate the highest Truth upon His disciple Arjuna. Thus it is evident that the teacher is responsible for the human progress ;and for his benevolent services to mankind, he is adored more than God.

  25. There were 12 Azhvars. They were all Vaishnavas. All of them have contributed 4000 pasurams(poems), called as Naalayira Divya Prabandam. The names of 12 azhvars are, Poigai azhvar, Peya azhvar, Bhudatha azhvar,Peria azhvar, Andal ,Thiruppana Azhvar, Kulasekar Azhvar, Madura Kavi azhvar, Nammazhvar, Thirumagai Azhvar, Thirumizhisai azhvar, Thondaradi podi azhvar.Out of 4000 pasurams 1000 pasurams are by Nammazhvar. The speciality of this azhvar is Lord vishnu in His severalforms came to him & got pasurams on Him. Madhurakavi azhvar sang only 10 pasurams that to on His Guru Nammazhvar. Thiruppanazhvar sang 10 pasurams on Ranganatha at Sri Rangam. All other azhvars went to many temples & sang about the Lord. There are 108 Padal petra stalangal. That means in these 108 temples Lord got mangalasanam by azhvars. Sri Ranganatha & Balagi of Tirupati got Mangalasanam by all the Azhvars. If you know Tamil you will love the Pasurams. It is so beautiful. If you are interested I will give meanings of some pasuram from Nammazhvar.
