  1. Prabhupada is enlightened. Also, yes, he was a great man who did not care for anything except the truth. However, we must not follow a living entity blindly, because it is the vedas that carry wisdom, not the living entities. In the vedas, it has been said that soft words work over hard words. Being nice is not something that only we gullible teenagers use to get stuff from their parents /images/graemlins/grin.gif , even though it works very well. It is also a wonderful instrument to express great philosophical truths that cuts the delusion and does not make a big mess. personally, I agree with Vedas, however, we must not refrain from using harsh words when needed. But, my krishna in bhagavath gita is always sweet, and was sweet all his life. He is still sweet now, he will be sweet in vraja. Why use harsh words to express our views and make a mess, when we can do the samething with no mess, by using sweet and gentle words./images/graemlins/smile.gif
  2. But I will stop speaking because this is turning into a "spiritual quarrel" . The Enlightened stay away from such things /images/graemlins/grin.gif
  3. I think you can get it in an Indian Store.
  4. You BELONG HERE! /images/graemlins/smile.gif
  5. is ridiculous and I think what you are trying to do is start something that does not really belong here. /images/graemlins/mad.gif thank you.
  6. Guruvani, may be you should take time to introspect on trying to be optimistic and friendly. It is called "Fellowship" you know /images/graemlins/grin.gif . You do not have to look at everything through the eyes of pessimism and suspicion. If you wear blue glasses, you start seeing everything in blue, it is better to remove the contacts and see the beauty with in the nature around you. People have many misunderstandings, its better to stop it before it turns into ridiculous bashing that has no basis except to veil over the very ego with in.
  7. May be I should just wait until I find the right person.
  8. Brahman = krishna= Omnipresent being. However, such omnipresence is not the whole truth. In Bhagavath Gita, Krishna explains that he is everything, yet different from everything.
  9. Cool! I want an online spiritual master! If you are really a spiritual master, will you be my spiritual master raga? /images/graemlins/crazy.gif
  10. stupid beliefs and and stupid explanations to keep women under men.
  11. If you are truly a spiritually elevated person, which you are ofcourse. Then, why do you need to be upset of something that is of such a base nature as this? As we all know, the true wisdom, as in Bhagavath gita, lies in staying a friend and gentle , even if the person is in a hostile situation. It was truly funny to see guruvani go to such an extent of saying something so improper , but please don't take this so harshly upon yourself. Guruvani's accusations are out of ignorance, ignorance of the worldly knowledge. For example, In australia, people call each other "mates" if the guy is like your friend. that does not mean mate = sexual mate. If a person does not know such a thing , then he would accuse him of being improper. /images/graemlins/smile.gif That doesn't mean, the australian should all of a sudden get mad and never say mate again. ________ Sorry, but Guruvani has not made you mad (angry) in this situation. It is your ego. Your ego has been hurt, so you have said "No" to this forum. Your ego has veiled over the true perfection in you. Truly, you are a great devottee, so leave this delusion. It was a simple misunderstanding, even krishna had to deal with misunderstandings, so if the maya of this world did not stop for krishna, how can it stop for you or me, or guruvani /images/graemlins/grin.gif And please administrator, delete the entire thread of posts, the whole notion of Homosexuality is just a temporary delusion, this entire thread of posts is useless. /images/graemlins/grin.gif
  12. It is as if you go to a higher plane of consciousness when you see such beauty of krishna and radha.
  13. /images/graemlins/smile.gif I know the Indian customs, because my parents are 100% Indians. Funny thing is , Indian women don't hug and Indian men hug. They hug themselves calling brothers, it is a little wierd to see grown men hugging. Anyway, The fact is , Indians don't have the "Homosexuals " in their country. Don't know why... they just don't. Or may be they do, but if they act Homosexually they are just put in Mental hospitals or something... no idea. Anyway, so I guess hugging among men in Indian culture is not something of a sexual nature, it is a way of showing brotherly love. Women never hug. No body hugs except when some "American" friends come to our house. No one hugs!. And Indian men never hug Indian women. Indian boys also never talk to Indian girls, its wierd. Like my cousin who came from India, never talks!. /images/graemlins/grin.gif Actually, even though the krishna conscious philosophy took its birth in India, The Modern Indians are very body conscious than any one else. /images/graemlins/grin.gif its actually funny in a way. So this may serve as a brief guide to Indian Culture for Theist and Guruvani. /images/graemlins/smile.gif
  14. Ok, first of all what is GALVA. Second of all, what did he say that was so offensive. By his name, its clear that he likes krishna. He is an Indian, I could tell by his name, well, he usually writes it as "shyam". Shyam is a well known Indian name, which means Krishna. May be he just liked the name Krishna. Most people, and even my self put my birth year after their names. I could have I_love_krishna_86 or something like that. Whats wrong with that? May be he was born in 69, who knows?. May be you are terribly accusing some individual who has no relation what so ever to what you are accusing him off. Please stop saying such things with out any sort of real knowledge about the subject. /images/graemlins/mad.gif And also, in the picture, Arjuna is not trying to get a hold of krishna, but he is trying to beg him to stop attacking Bhisma with that big wheel. /images/graemlins/grin.gif I do agree with the fact that most of the pictures that we see are feminized, but I thought that it is a way of showing beauty in the North Indian Art. Because, we see the same thing all over India. Where Gods and Goddesses are all looking like girls. Most Gods are shown with long curly hair, with bindis, and with earings and all the fashionable things that are considered feminine. /images/graemlins/grin.gif
  15. Is it some kind of a group that preaches against hare krishnas?
  16. wow, that is so sad. But first of all, you are not alone. In every cell of your body there is krishna, and in every shape and form, he is there. You don't have to stay away from your boyfriend, you can live with him and care for him, but not through sex, take care of him for krishna through love and compassion. Sex is not allowed for the so called "straight " people and also the so called "gay" people. Unless it is for procreation. But first of all, give up this notion that you are your body, which you are not. Then, you can start by not paying attention to the stuff that discriminates your kind. Next, give up the sense of attraction toward your lover (male or female) whoever, then you are free. Freedom is intelligent self restraint (In the words of vedanta). Your love in this world is pure, but yet perverted because it deals with the body. If you love him, start seeing the soul in him, then you will start seeing that every one , you , me and the rest of this world are non different. Thus, leading to equilibrium and peace. I hope i help, if i don't, sorry /images/graemlins/crazy.gif
  17. Don't eat meat, follow non-violence, No drugs(ofcourse duh), gambling and also... __________ 1. never follow temptation 2. Do what you are supposed to do with out any intention of the result. 3. prefer internal peace over external glory. 4. Be content with what you have. 5. Never show anger. 6. Accept every feeling as natural. 7. Live in modesty, honesty and in a simple organized way of life. _________
  18. So true, /images/graemlins/smile.gif . So... very very true.
  19. How from attachment one gets anger and from anger the poor little soul's life is destroyed. Its there somewhere, I don't know where in bhagavath gita.
  20. Well , we are in some sort of conditioning due to our bodies. Yeah its true , we are attracted to males if we are females and females if we are males. And also, it is true that females are better at somethings and males better at other things. However, on the over all perspective, we can get over the conditioning of being a male or female for some extent. well, Hare krishna movement is about finding our true place near Krishna. So, we need to realize that being attracted to opposite sex is just a conditioning that is temporary. Moreover, the homosexuals need to realize that the conditioning that they have is also temporary. The sexual urge of homosexuals is just illicit sex, because it does not have a basis on giving birth to a beautiful child. The sexual urge between male and female bodies is fine, but only if we are trying to see a cute baby in the future /images/graemlins/blush.gif. The real attraction is between Krishna and a spirit soul. However, this attraction is not perverted , but is based on love /images/graemlins/grin.gif.
  21. Thank you for your wonderful advice. I guess I can't expect anything for granted because I don't know what krishna has in store for me. /images/graemlins/smile.gif thank you all. Thank you all again /images/graemlins/grin.gif
  22. Male and Female. Aren't we all souls , so aren't we all equal on that basis. The fact is our bodies are not ours and every body has a special purpose. If it is a female body , it is your purpose to give birth to a beautiful child (ofcourse after you marry) and if you are a male body , it is your purpose to give a female the chance to have a baby( ofcourse after marriage). The rest of the "gender roles" that are so well defined are useless in the present era. _________ In the vedic times, they were ofcourse useful, because it was hard work that men had to accomplish so that they can "bring the bread" to feed their families. The woman part of the society had to take care of the children so that the next generation can survive in this cruel and harsh world. __________ but what now? We are not trying to fight off lions and tigers on a daily basis. so , being a male or a female has nothing to do with any roles except in giving birth and raising the next generation. The rest of our goals are the same here, it is to reach krishna. In reality, all the "strong" males who have lived for 50 years and survived wars are nothing but feminine souls in front of krishna, and they are no different from the souls that exist in those cute babies that we see in hospitals /images/graemlins/smirk.gif. You (the person who is reading) , Me , and every one on this planet is nothing but a soul which is small and vulnerable in front of krishna /images/graemlins/grin.gif. Krishna is the true controller and he(she) is there in every one's heart /images/graemlins/cool.gif. So can't we just treat people with out judging them by what bodies they wear for a year of Indra's life?). More over, Homosexuality is the same thing here, just because you have an attraction to the same sex does not mean its bad. Its just another type of conditioning. However, you need to get over such type of conditioning by developing knowledge and bhakthi toward God. /images/graemlins/smile.gif Honestly, sometimes it seems that "big grown ups" act like little children who wear costumes on Halloween and fight as if they are that character. Take an example of a young boy, If he dresses up like a batman, he starts to act all tough and plays like batman, and if he is superman he starts to imitate like he is flying. However, in reality such qualities are not inherent in the little boy. /images/graemlins/grin.gif This talk about gender roles seems to be synonymous to that situation, but in an Adult way. Krishna would probably be laughing his head off /images/graemlins/smile.gif
  23. "man without vision shall perish" Some quote somewhere in bhagavath gita, it ends in "Buddhi Nasho Pranashyathi" Buddhi= Intelligence Nasho= destruction Pranashyathi= leads to total destruction. Krishna basically explains the path of destruction of the man where the Man gets attached, with attachment gets angry if he does not receive what he wanted to receive, and due to anger loses his sense of judgement, with losing of the sense of judgement the guy loses intelligence, thus leading him to destruction. So, in the words of Krishna the Vision would be non-attachment to the worldly objects. Vision gets destroyed... the guy has no vision, so he gets destroyed. May be it is vision to see maya Correct me if i am wrong /images/graemlins/grin.gif thanks!
