  1. I loved this thing which I found over the net /images/graemlins/smile.gif Special thanks to : Malatilata _______ Sri Sri Radha-Krishna Ujjvala Kusuma Keli By Srila Raghunatha dasa Gosvami Once, Sri Radhika and Her girlfriends entered the forest maintained by Vrinda, named Vrindavana, and blissfully began to pick their favorite flowers, leaves, buds and fruits there. As soon as Giridhari heard them, He went up to them and began to pick the following rasika quarrel with them: "O you thieves! What are you doing there so secretly? You are intoxicated by pride, and now you are destroying My precious garden! In return I will plunder Your vine-like bodies for the vines you plundered, I will take away your fruit-like breasts for the fruits you have stolen, and I will plunder your sprout-like lips in return for all the buds that you have picked!" Hearing Krishna's words, Lalita looked at Him with frowned eyebrows. The different other gopis smiled slightly and told Him: "O You rascal! We are speaking truthfully, and for Your benefit! Give up Your false proud words and quickly return to Your father's abode Nandisvara! Don't You know the great power of harsh Lalita, who has destroyed Your masculine fame time and again in this forest?" When He heard Visakha's words, Sri Krishna, feigning pride, again spoke: "Aho! Are you so bold and shameless towards me, whereas you are My disciples? Hearing your words even this vine-pavillion becomes angry, for how many times has a great abode of attributes like Me not acted as your guru by giving you initiation in the Jain-religion in this vine pavillion?" All the gopis became angry and ashamed when they heard these words of Krishna. Visakha, desiring to defeat Krishna, then changed the subject and spoke the following reasonable words: "The person who spent money and employed many workers on its construction is the owner of a garden, but Vrindavana was never made by anyone, therefore everyone has equal rights here; why do You claim it all for Yourself then?" Hearing there words of Visakha, Krishna spoke again with feigned pride: "In Vaikuntha, in heaven, on earth and in hell the Vedas proclaim that this forest is Mine and mention it in the connection with My name, too! Have you never heard that? It is clear to Me that three faults have made you deaf: inebriation, pride and youthful beauty!" Hearing Krishna's wors, Radhika looked in a crooked way and smiled slightly while saying: "Ohe Svamin! If a thing belongs to the person it is named after, then, O cheater, this Vrindavana-forest belongs to our sakhi Vrinda, after whom it it named! All the people in the three worlds, and even You Yourself call this place Vrindavana, but no one ever calls this place after You!" Sri Krishna became inebriated by drinking these nectarean words of Sri Radhika and said with a slight smile: "This Vrinda, who is sweeter than all the goddesses of fortune, is My wife! If you don't believe that, then you can ask that chaste girl to take an oath on it! In the Vedas it is said that there is no difference between husband and wife, therefore this forest is called after both of us in the three worlds."
  2. Bush scored 600 big points on his SATS! lmao /images/graemlins/smile.gif Its not on one part but 2 parts put together... hmm In which part do you think he scored the most points? English or Math? /images/graemlins/grin.gif I can't do that poll thing because i don't know how! damn it!
  3. The blessing "May you be the mother of 100 children" is just a blessing in disguise. The true meaning of the blessing as said by some one saintly in my life is to ensure fertility in the young woman. Also, the intimacy in the couple. Thats all. The best thing for us to do is to decrease the attachment to our material bodies and increase attachment to our soul and krishna. So, my opinion on this is have kids but keep the number down to two or one. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

  6. In my view, there is no danger in believing the truth... The truth is my krishna, the truth is only him. He alone exists in the bible, Quran and Geeta. He is Yaweh he is everything.

  8. Chinmayananda who also quotes vivekananda explains : "By this famous verse-- which is daily repeated as grace before meals in cultured Indian homes--Krishna wants to divinise all our activies, all through the day, with this constant invocation of the Lord and by the continuous reconition of Lord's play in all happenings with in and with out us. Thus, prayer to the Hindu is not a special day of rest once a week, nor even a few minutes of devoted engagements every day. Religion to the Hindu is not merely in the house of gods, but it is constant daylong inner attitude of dedication to his(or her) lord, who is none other than the Lord of the Universe-- whose every manifestation is the cosmos. In such an all-embracing atmosphere of the divine awareness when one lives, all his/her actions , even the most insignificant and mundane , must become an unconscious but powerful invocation of the supreme and the total dedication of his/her ego at the Supreme (krishna)." Isn't this familiar to Prabhupada's teaching? Srila Prabhupada says give all you got to krishna because you are krishna's property (L.E. mam, I am not speculating now am I) . And these guys say " Give all you got to the supreme self. Krishna lives in our heart, he is our controller. The supreme self that they refer to is the true controller and they think that that self alone exists not them. In other words, they are kind of things controlled by the supreme self... very familiar... you are controlled by krishna, you belong to krishna and krishna makes up everything... thats what they say too.

  10. i_l_k, They taught different goals than did Caitanya. That is the point. ********************************************************** I have read 2 books given to us by Srila Prabhupada, the first is called "Bhagavath gita" with all its purports. The second is "Science of Self Realization" I also read a book called "The Path of Yoga" but that does not really count because it is an online book at www.krishna.org and I don't know if it is really written by prabhupada. Also, I three books by Swami Chinmayananda : 1. Self-Unfoldment 2. Kindle Life 3. Art of Man Making( which is bhagavath Gita and purports explaining each verse) The reason I am telling you this is because, After reading these books I don't see much difference in the teachings of prabhupada and chinmayananda. As said in the bhagavath Gita... Knowledge and devotion are not different from each other. In the same way, the admirer of Adi shankaracharya and Vivekananda who is Swami Chinmayananda and the follower of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Tukarama come to the same conclusions even though they use different terminology. This is no speculation ,but simple truth which I have discovered through a little analysis.

  12. I know you are probably older than me and know better... but you are as guilty of speculating on a higher being (prabhupada) as I am.

  14. In my view, homosexuality is a minor issue, because it is another type of conditioning of this material world. As we try to give up the attraction to the opposite sex, the homosexuals should give up the attraction to the same sex. As far as I know, the attraction and repulsion and also the sexuality of the human being lies in a small almond shaped structure called amygdala in an area called limbic system in the brain. The amygdala is the reason why we have the urge to the biological mating process also it controls many flight or fight mechanisms. The amygdala is and can be controlled by the prefrontal cortex with its connection to it ... this is proven in the research conducted by Mario Beauregard1, Johanne Lévesque, Pierre Bourgouin1. Their research can be found here: http://www.jneurosci.org/cgi/content/full/21/18/RC165 The homosexuality is just a rush toward the same sex due to the confusion in amygdala. Even though new research has to prove this, this is a valid hypothesis. So, it is wise to dwell on the nature of the soul rather than the body, because what body you get into depends on soul's karma which is controlled by maya and not the soul. So, why should we dwell into matters that have no importance? I fear to think what will happen to people in their next life when they realize that they have become into what they have so despised. I think that they would become into such miserable creatures because they are constantly thinking about such creatures and despising them. As my beloved krishna has always said , whatever you think of when you die, you will certainly attain that . If we keep thinking about homosexuals then we will surely attain their status in our next life. This is not an insult, but a simple explanation of the truth.
  15. Yes I liked it too /images/graemlins/smile.gif
  16. Born by the banks of the sacred Ganges river in 1896, Srila Prabhupada was destined to become the greatest ever ambassador of lndia’s spiritual knowledge to the world. ********************************************************** He is a great spiritual master, but why is he destined to become one? I thought the spiritual masters are self realized thus making them transcendental and not the subject to karma. If Srila prabhupada was destined then what about Gandhi? He freed the country of India from the control of the british by non violence. I saw the movie, he rose from being a materialistic man to a simple man who lived by showing nothing but compassion to others, even to his so-called "enemies". Was he destined? So we have to wait for an avatar to save us again? Can't we rise to a avatar level ourselves thus making the whole society lift itself up to a whole new level of consciousness?
  17. To say that Ramakrishna paramahamsa is not a paramahamsa is idiotic. He is a great devotee, his teachings are wonderful and he is self realized. The same thing goes to Vivekananda who was self realized after giving up all materialism and material activities. Please don't say that they lack any spirituality just because they ate meat, then that would mean that my role model: Jesus had no spirituality just because he ate meat. So did Moses... he ate meat, so he was unfit to see god? /images/graemlins/confused.gif that would be ridiculous Not eating meat is good, because it is a sign for our devotion to krishna. Meat eating is considered as a tamasic activity because first you kill an animal very cruelly and eat it later . It is a task of an asura, but even asuras are loved by krishna. Narasimha loved Hiranyaskhapu, why? because he was thinking of hari day and night even in his sleep (vira bhakthi) . Anyway, the point is this, we vaishnavas like to be the servants of the supreme and we would like to make the supreme happy. What Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Vivekananda were doing is trying to get out of this mire of material existence and realize that there is a supreme and the supreme is the cause of everything. What we are trying to do is get an easy pass to bliss by bhakthi and through the service to that supreme because we know that the supreme already exists. What they tried to do was realize the supreme with their intelligent (yet human so mundane) brains. It is possible to realize the supreme with our brains as told by krishna in bhagavath Gita, but it is quite hard and almost impossible for a seeker such as myself. Well thats what I think they did, and also the teachings of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Vivekananda do not contradict with teachings of Chaitanya, even though they appear to contradict one another in the eyes of an unintelligent seeker.

  19. Poverty in India is horrible, The chief minister of that state called "Chandra babu Naidu" is trying his best to bring the whole state out of poverty but the times are not good. I hear that there is no water in HYD and the rains are not coming so the farmers are dying with hunger. Most of the people who try to work have no jobs and who work have no will to work. The chief minister of that state spends like hell over making HYD into a "cyber city" but in reality people are dying of starvation . Who cares if you have the most technologically advanced city for a few rich bastards, what about the poor? they just let them die like that. Its horrible!
  20. I think I read about him but for conformation... Is he the devotee of Pandu Rangalu Vittal? If he is I think he is fond of Vishista advaita, where Pandu Ranga is everything yet different from him. I don't think he is an impersonalist because at the end he goes to Vaikunta with out dying. But then again he makes things appear like magic and says it is krishna not him.

  22. They will anything for a buck. They kill millions of cows and other animals every month. Their bill is astronomical.Sinful reactions on a cosmic scale. I don't care if they set up a vegan salad bar in their lobby, they won't get a penny from me. Now I hear they are contaminating India.Indians should protest them out of the country.Even if they avoid cow killing there they certainly are killing them everywhere else in the world. Why does India need these low class places?Trade Indian food for that slop?No way. *********************************************************** Indians extol any western thing as being "cool" or "aristocratic" , it is hard for them to get over the conditioning and see the truth. They did protest against Mc Donalds , but I am not sure if the whole business has gone out of the country. When I went to India, I was hoping for Samosas or kalakands or Gullab jamuns but some of my relatives tended to prefer vege burgers... its so wierd.
  23. like the gratification we get as if we need nothing of the material nature when we chant the Mantra?
