Ghandarva, Ghandarva by itself means "Celestial". Clearly Gods such as Shiva , Laxmi and Saraswati are not Ghandharvas or celestials... they are more than celestials they are devas. Deva itself is God. But God in English would mean "THE GOD". I think thats why it is not used in english /images/graemlins/smirk.gif. The word Demigod is more appropriate... well thats the way I look at it /images/graemlins/crazy.gif.

My opinion: keep chanting and do not pay attention to them. Maya is a powerful thing, we cannot fight the desires of this material world alone... for that we seek a higher being (krishna) and with him we get rid of anarthas. So, if we just chant and try to do things that clear our consciousness instead of trying to remove anarthas , then they will automatically perish. Vedas and bhagavath gita tell us to do! not what not to do (as said in "The path of Yoga").

linga=penis in sanskrit. In Kamasutra it is mentioned that linga is penis and Yoni is Vagina. I have also read the book where the trinities , brahma, vishnu and parameshwar are given a curse... According to shiva's curse, the people will worship only his linga, not himself. I also read that Shiva is also the God of fertility and Parvati is the Goddess of fertility. So, the worship of linga is the worship of the auspicious union between shiva and parvati.

I went to my dad's village, even though it is kind of an old method, the milkmen sell their milk to the government and they pasteurize and sell it to the public. Sometimes they don't pasteurize the milk , but the people boil the milk when they buy it... so that all the pathogens are dead. The cows and Indian buffalos are kept free to roam and be happy. They graze over the grazing areas and you see people taking care of them. They are not hooked up to machines and they are certainly not killed after their milk days are over. Their calves are not taken away from them, their calves are allowed to drink their mother's milk. If a cow or an Ox(male cow) comes in front of the house, it is given something to eat... whether it be fruits or grass or water. Pigs are definitely not killed... even though they are ignored ... which is really disgusting. The Oxens are used to plow the fields and for transport and they are fed very well for the job. It is fine to enslave the cows and Oxens, but they shouldn't treat them so cruelly like they do here. Please guruvani, Go to the website and if that does not make your heart cry then I really feel bad for those cows and for you. Even pigs get hurt. How can they boil them alive like that. How can they treat animals like they are inanimate objects? This is alot worser than those Nazi Concentration camps. To drink this milk is to support that treatment of the cows. And they are not given meat (which is unnatural) in India, they are not given abnormal hormones that make them give 10 times more milk than usual.

Monotheism vs Polytheism: Islam vs Hinduism
I_love_krishna_ replied to Avinash's topic in Spiritual Discussions
neither you nor we proclaim that he is!. We worship him as he is , which is in perfection. He is perfect, He is all beautiful, containing all opulences. You are mistakenly thinking that he is a man! which he is not. We do not think that either. We think that he is perfect, all rupas(forms) are his, he is everything yet different from everything. So, whatever form you like him, you worship him with reverence and intimacy. If he is worshipped as a little boy, then we show love for him (krishna) , if we worship him as a king (Rama), we show love for him that way, if we worship him in the form of a saint (buddha) we show love for him that way. If you want to worship him as if he is void of any form (brahman) it is fine. However, we cannot achieve the intimate affection we have for the lord, if we worship him in a formless state. That love with intimacy is what we want to show him, why? because he is soooo lovable. Thats what this is all about. -

He is the creator of everything even if you agree with me or not. Every thing he created now that you see before you has a form, thus proving that all forms exist in him initially. In other words, he has all forms, thus he is full of forms , not formless. We call him Krishna. The Vedas do not say he has no form at all and he is just nothing. You can say he is formless if you would like, but that would mean you have to agree that your body has no form and it is nothing. It is no where in site and you cannot think because to do something you need a form and thinking is doing something!. Allah is formless, so you too are formless. Because you have no form, you are then above all physical laws etc. Allah is helpless, because you have no form. He has to look at you formful people enjoying yourself in this world. So sad... I feel bad for the guy -

When a person has no intention of listening to a rational explanation then he will use all methods of logic to see the rational explanation as an irrational one. "You cannot answer the questions that I put to you regarding verses from your books." That proves it. Individuals like you should keep away and just watch the discussions as you are being very irrational. Also you should first try to open your mind even if that mind is irrational. Sorry for being straight. Aree moork,I have used inappropriate words to question your qualification. There are always questions in life.... and there are always answers to those questions too, my friend. -
tell that to Guruvani. All this forum was doing was talking about politics and forgetting krishna.

Thank you Ghari prabhu, SS is not qualified because to understand something, you should be willing to understand. If not, then it will be like my grandmom used to say, It goes into one ear and comes out from another! /images/graemlins/smile.gif -

There is a place called Laxithipet in the state called Andhra, over there there is a temple and after the evening puja on sundays... it is said that Lord Jagannath with laxmi dances around the temple. The people say it because they hear the jingle of the deities footwear in the middle of the night.

In south Indian belief system it is said that only some people born at a specific cosmic time can see Ghosts, not others. My grandfather was one of them, he used to travel to other towns on a bicycle (they were quite poor in india in 1950s). Anyway, one day he was going to sit at a near by tree and have his lunch some where in the forests of South India. A spirit from the tree came down in a smokey way and started harrassing him. He said that it even talked to him saying " Look a brahmana is here, you know what I do to brahmanas". Out of fear, he said "Jai Sriman Narayana" then something happened, it vanished out of site. He said it ran away -- vanished samething...

I mean , If we commit sin then that sin helps us suffer and if we suffer then we go search for krishna to help us get out of it. If we do good deeds and if we are aware of the ego and keep it at minimum, then we will become satvic and develop bhakthi again and go back to krishna. They are both helpful /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/cool.gif
