  1. Always been a bit slow but eventually I will work out what your saying. sorry about that prabhu. Um, yes xmas meant Christmas to John but there IS no mention of the real spirit of Christmas, Jesus, in his song.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:" /><o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Actually I still don't know what you mean. Well maybe this is what you mean - to John and to many who just go by Sound, xmas and Christmas are the same. <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> However, I personally see xmas spelling for Santa clause and Christmas for the birth of Jesus. Sometimes, like many, I may have used the word xmas simply because its a shorter word to type. <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> But to really remind people of the true spirit of Christmas, then it should be spelt 'Christmas' because it is Jesus Christs birthday<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Lennon has always used the word xmas for his song however, same cover versions portray baby Jesus in that song. I personally don't think he meant christs birthday but only Yoko knows that.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> So YOU ARE RIGHT, who am I to judge weather he acknowledged JESUS or not. It's just that in the song he doesn't.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> DID i GET IT RIGHT THIS TIME?? <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> JESUS CHRIST!!
  2. Tuesay, December 02 - Night report: HH Jayapataka Swami Maharaja's status report by Dr Madhavananda das, Director of Bhaktivedanta Hospital, Mumbai: Maharaja is recovering gradually. The physiotherapist is teaching him exercises to strengthen his trunk muscles so that he can sit up on his own gradually. The power in his limbs is getting better everyday. His oral feeds are going on. Blood pressure is under control with medication. Other parameters are stable. Tuesay, December 02 - A message from HH Jayapataka Swami Guru Maharaja: Dear Devotees, Hare Krsna. Please accept my most humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. All glories to Srila Gurudeva. One of the duties of the JPS care givers is to read letters written to Guru Maharaja. Apart from the other devotional and rehabilitation program, Guru Maharaja also likes to listen to the devotees’ letters. Whatever letters we receive, we print them and send it for reading. Today while Iksvaku prabhu was reading letters, Guru Maharaja stopped him and said he wants a message to be posted on the web! His message is as follows: "I want to walk. I am not strong. Please pray for me to become strong so I can walk in 10 days." Although medically they say it might take a longer period of time, by Guru Maharaja's message we can understand his desire to walk soon. Let us keep continuously praying to Krsna. It seems that the Lord is enjoying the devotees’ intense prayers to Him. Your humble servant, Ratnavali dd Tuesay, December 02 - Report from HG Isvara Puri prabhu: 21-Nov-08 Today I had the good fortune to hear Guru Maharaja speak for the first time in the Hindhuja hospital. I was doing my security services at the entrance in the ground floor outside the lobby. After waiting patiently outside the hospital for 5 hours, Dharesh prabhu asked me to come up to the floor where Guru Maharaja was. When I went to the ICCU Guru Maharaja was resting. I just took a brief darshan and came out of the ICCU. When Guru Maharaja woke up after a while, Dr. Shiromani Mataji went to see him. Later she came out and said Guru Maharaja is trying to say something. So I went inside and when Guru Maharaja saw me, he cried out... "GAURANGAAA" (of course to the best of his capability) Then, the nurse told me that I could go near him. When I went nearby him, he told me, "HARE KRISHNA". It took Guru Maharaja a lot of effort, but I saw it as a child begin to say his first words. I began to massage his lotus feet and to do some physiotherapy exercises that a devotee had taught us. Dharesh prabhu came in to check and asked Guru Maharaja if I was doing it properly. Guru Maharaja lifted up his right hand and showed his thumb up, confirming it was good. I felt happy to please Guru Maharaja. Click here to go to the History page to read the previous health updates of HH Jayapataka Swami Maharaja.

  4. No, I thought you did not like the word xmas because it does not represent what christmas (christ mass) really is? Agree, Although this is how I humbly saw the history I lived through -- Historically, if we look at this history of the 1960s that many of us lived through as teenagers, we understand the Beatles years was the beginning of a great cultural and religious shift.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:" /><o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> This was enhanced by the hippie movement of so called peace and love, made more popular by the fame of the Beatles and the communications revolution of TV, Radio and Print media. <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> This also includes the famous 'peace' saying of Hare Krishna that came from both Prabhupada and Ginsberg in 1966. Also, 'Xmas' to Lennon was NEVER about Jesus, it was about his peace and free love trip that he got off Ginsberg, Leary and Kesey. Also, 'Hare Krishna' to Lennon was NEVER about Krsna originally at the beginning of 1967, it was just another word for 'peace'. The 'saying' of Hare Krsna was just another way to say 'peace man' Turn on, tune in, drop out" and was part of a counterculture phrase originally coined by Timothy Leary and Alan Ginsburg in the 1960s.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Later on however, it's real meaning was explained by Prabhupada when he lived at Lennon’s Mansion that frankly, Lennon did originally like due to his search for truth but unfortuately, his wife Yoko detested. <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> She never liked the devotees, that's an historical fact and frankly John never got into the real understanding of Hare Krishna either. Only George Harrison did that<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Like many historical events, the interest is various; many could not care about this. Does this really matter?<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Not really, this was started simply because I listened to an old version of happy xmas and could hear not just Hare Rama, but Hare Krishna CLEARLY as well, then hear the modern version where its now simply not there.
  5. Album: Shaved Fish [1975] Happy Xmas (War Is Over) I only wrote what I read in front of me now finishing with Hare Rama, if you want it, e_t_c. Hare Rama, now e_t_c. Happy Xmas http://lyrics.rockmagic.net/lyrics/l..._1975.html#s11 note this link has mysteriously been deleted, probably by Ono I see your point, historically if we look at this history that many of us lived through in the 60s as teenagers, the Beatles years was enhanced the hippie movement of so called peace and love made more populr by the fame of the beatles. This also inclues the famouse 'peace' saying of Hare Krishna. Also, 'Xmas' to Lennon was NEVER about Jesus, it was about his peace and free love tripthat he got off Ginsberg, Leary and Kesey. Also 'Hare Krishna' to Lennon also was NEVER about Krsna, the 'saying' of Hare Krsna was also another way to say 'peace man' that he got from Ginberg and later on, it's real meaning from Prabhupada that frankly, he did not like and Yoko detested, she never liked the devotees, that's an historical fact and frankly John was never into the real undertanding of Hare Krishna either. What he prpaged in song was what he thought Krsna was and not Krsna PERSONALLY. The word 'Krishna' was IN, was cool, was the rave of the Grateful Dead, Alan Ginsburg and the Beatles (I am the Walrus) It was another way of saying - 'peace man and chicks, letsd have free love, drop acid and eat brown rice' It was never about the real Krishna until they met Prabhupada and learnt singing and chanting Hare Krishna was not about all their nonsense peace love, anti-Vietnam war and brown rice peace trip It's the same with the word Xmas as opposed to the real Christ- mass. That song is NOT about Jesus. Lennons trip was trying to build the Kingdom of God without God (the IMAGINE song) · Happy Xmas (War Is Over)
  6. Obama Praises Akshaya Patra For Its Noble Work founded by the hare Krishna members US president elect Barack Obama has praised the charitable work of Akshaya Patra, considered the world's largest non-governmental organisation (NGO) working for the uplift of the underprivileged, describing it as a model not only for India but also for other nations as well. "It has an imaginative approach that has the potential to serve as a model for other countries," Mr Obama said. His remarks came in a letter he wrote to Akshaya Patra's US president Madhu Sridhar. The Karnataka-based organisation serves five other states in India where about a million underprivileged children at 5,600 schools are served free Mr Obama hailed Sridhar and others associated with the charitable organisation. "Congratulations for you and the people at the Akshaya Patra foundation for the incredible progress you have made in feeding the children of India," the Democratic Party leader said, adding "your use of efficient and innovative business practices to scale up in just a few years from feeding 1,500 schoolchildren daily to almost a million is a powerful demonstration of what is possible when people work together." The letter pointed out that behavioral problems are more prevalent among children who suffer from hunger. Hunger and malnutrition make it more difficult to fight AIDS and other public health issues. Mr Obama added, "By feeding children now, you're helping to avoid many negative consequences that would be much more difficult and expensive to address later on." Mr Sridhar pointed out that US Senator Edward M Kennedy, another Democratic leader, had earlier praised his organisation, which is based in Stoneham, Massachusetts. The foundation recently received from American Express and amounting to 100,000 dollar and 40,000 dollar respectively. The foundation was inspired by the Hare Krishna movement and has its main office in Hubli. Among its foundation's backers are N R Narayana Murthy of Infosys Technologies and Gururaj Deshpande of the Deshpande Foundation. In September it raised at its annual fundraiser 750,000 dollar. I really believe a ‘photo’ being burned would NOT offend Prabhupada; in fact he would chuckle to himself and say <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> "AH, NOW WE HAVE GOT THEIR ATTENTION, NOW THEY ARE STARTING TO RECOGNISE US".<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> I base this assumption on an incident in Melbourne Australia when Prabhupada's life was threatened. As temple commander in 1976, PustaKrsna prabhu and myself told Prabhupada about the threat from a group of men in suites with guns from a Christian organization known as the Catholic Church. One of them known as Erikson, pointed a gun at me as I got out of a car, this was witnessed by Amogha dasa. Prabhupada’s response –<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Srila Prabhupada - "AH, NOW WE HAVE GOT THEIR ATTENTION, NOW THEY ARE STARTING TO RECOGNISE US".<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> The story of Jagai and Madhai is specifically about an offence to a Vaishnava, and Lord Caitanya's response was not to "tolerate that offence <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> One day while Nityananda Prabhu was returning in the dark the two brothers accosted him. On learning His identity, Madhai became furious and struck Him with a broken earthen pot. When Jagai saw the blood flow from the wound, he became compassionate and restrained his brother. <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> While Nityananda Prabhu patiently stood, looking at the brothers with compassion, tolerating the pain and humiliation, people ran to tell Caitanya Mahaprabhu about the incident.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Hearing that the brothers had hurt Nityananda Prabhu, Caitanya Mahaprabhu ran towards them with the intention to kill them. He summoned His chakra, which looked like death personified to the two terrified brothers. However Nityananda Prabhu quickly intervened and begged Caitanya Mahaprabhu to stop. He reminded Him of His mission to kill the sinners by saturating them with love of Godhead. Thus appeased the Lord took back His chakra.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> It seems none of us have the right to forgive the offenders who have offended Srila Prabhupada because they must seek forgiveness themselves however, in Kali-yuga, these rules have also changed thanks to the causeless mercy of Lord Nityananda. <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> We must preach intelligently for Krishna. <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Doing nothing about ISKCON’S founder's 'photo' being burned is not Prabhupada's way. <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Why? <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> We can tolerate our own sufferings, hardships and offences but we should NEVER tolerate our Spiritual Master being treated this way even if he does see the bigger picture of Lord Caitanya's Golden Age unfolding.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> All Glorious to Srila Prabhupada, your fallen servant Gauragopala dasa ACBSP<o:p></o:p>
  8. Eulogy for Hayagriva Prabhu (1940-1989) By Hrishikesh dasa The photograph posted above is from Kirtanananda Swami's 1989 Vyasa-Puja Book (the year Hayagriva Prabhu passed away). I appear in this photograph behind Bhaktipada. Bhakta Steve was Hayagriva's caretaker and he appears behind Hayagriva. The photograph was taken in Bhaktipada's driveway at his new house (built in 1986). In this photo Hayagriva is reading some computer printouts, perhaps a text written by Kirtanananda or Umapati Swami. I considered myself a servant--if not a friend--of Hayagriva, as I worked with him setting music to his super-excellent English poetic translations of Vaishnava verses (he was a brilliant man and a genius in my opinion with the English language), and I also visited him frequently after he had become bedridden with cancer of the spine. I was always inspired to remember and serve Krishna by my visits with him. I found him to be thoughtful and philosophical, and he kept a good sense of humor, even as his life came to the very end, joking about his embarrasing condition when he was too weak to walk to the bathroom, and a nurse had to wipe the stool from his backside. He was initiated into the sannyas order by Kirtanananda after it was clear that he was about to leave the planet. I was very happy to render some small service by providing music for his funeral ceremony. As was apparent by observing the dozens and dozens of Brijabasis who participated in his funeral internment, he was respected, if not loved, by the residents of New Vrindaban. His samadhi can still be seen between Prabhupada's Palace and the Temple. Before I met him, I understand Hayagriva earned a Master Degree in English at New York University, and became Srila Prabhupada's senior editor from the very beginning of ISKCON in 1966 and into the early 1970s: he was in fact Prabhupada's right hand man for book editing for quite a few years. Hayagriva was a gifted writer and editor; he wrote 42 articles and poems for Back To Godhead magazine, beginning with the first issue in 1966: Volume 1, Number 1. His last article published in BTG was in 1980. Hayagriva was also the author of two excellent books: "The Hare Krishna Explosion: The Birth of Krishna Consciousness In America (1966-1969)" and "Vrindaban Days: Memories of an Indian Holy Town." The first was published by Palace Press in 1985, and the second published posthumously by Palace Publishing in 1990. I heartily recommend these books to anyone. When Kirtanananda Swami left Prabhupada's service in 1967 and was banned from the New York ISKCON temple and spat upon, Hayagriva gave his long-time friend shelter and allowed him to live with him at his home in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, where on Prabhupada's recommendation, Hayagriva had accepted a position in the English Department of the Wilkes Barre Community College. Prabhupada specifically asked Hayagriva to try to find some land in Pennsylvania for an ISKCON Community Ashram. A few months later, in April 1968, Hayagriva and Kirtanananda visited the backwoods farm in West Virginia which Prabhupada dubbed "New Vrindaban." Hayagriva and Kirtanananda were the two original residents of New Vrindaban (co-founders, if I may say so) and remained so for many years. When Kirtanananda left New Vrindaban with his Traveling Road Show, Hayagriva remained at New Vrindaban as Temple President. For two years (1964-65 and again in 1969) Hayagriva worked as an Associate Professor of English at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. I believe during this time he established the first Columbus ISKCON Temple. In 1969 he worked at Ohio State University from Tuesday through Thursday, and worked at New Vrindaban from Friday through Monday, building cabins, repairing the old farmhouse and barn, preparing for Prabhupada's month-long visit in May 1969, and spending the money he earned in Ohio for supplies for his West Virginia spiritual home. Hayagriva was instrumental in attracting some of his students to Krishna Consciousness; a few came to New Vrindaban and were initiated by Srila Prabhupada. Prabhupada considered Hayagriva one of the leaders of his society, and appointed him as one of the twelve original members of the first GBC during July 1970. It is clear from reading Prabhupada's letters, that Hayagriva was dearly loved by Prabhupada. Hayagriva showed his true colors when he defended Prabhupada during the Great ISKCON Crisis during the New Vrindaban Janmastami Festival of 1970. Four newly-initiated ISKCON sannyasis began spouting mayavadi philosophy and confusing the devotees, but only Hayagriva, who had done the editing for Prabhupada's books, understood Vaishnava philosophy clearly enough to see the errors in the sanyasis' arguments, and he courageously attempted to defeat them by scripture and logic. One eyewitness reported: "The GBC kept meeting and discussing and trying to figure out what was going on. Because it felt really weird, really off, but nobody knew the philosophy well enough, except Hayagriva, who had done all the editing of the books. Rupanuga was baffled. Hayagriva was the only one who had them pegged. He was unequivocal." One point I try to make here, and this is perfectly clear from reading Prabhupada's letters, is that although Kirtanananda left Prabhupada's service for nearly a year during the late 1960s, Hayagriva remained in constant communication with his spiritual master, and encouraged his rebellious friend Kirtanananda to make up with and surrender to Prabhupada. Hayagriva loved Prabhupada. He never really left Prabhupada's service, although he may have certainly been distracted at times. Granted, Hayagriva may have had some difficulties in his devotional life, which Satsvarupa das Goswami briefly alludes to in the Foreword to Hayagriva's book "The Hare Krishna Explosion," but Hayagriva always remained devoted to Prabhupada. Satsvarupa called Hayagriva "an honest, adoring disciple." Hayagriva's faith in and service to Prabhupada made him a great man; worthy of our respect, despite his weaknesses. In the long run, Hayagriva's devotion to Srila Prabhupada and Krishna should be the all-important factor in how his legacy is remembered. From my visits with Hayagriva near the end of his life, I believe he was constantly remembering Prabhupada and Krishna, and for this inspiration he provided me, I will be forever grateful to him. I wish him well, wherever he might be, in whatever form of life, on whatever planet, but I have the feeling that wherever he is, he is continuing his progress in Krishna Consciousness. I can only hope that in the future I can experience the same. Sincerely, Hrishikesh dasa (Henry Doktorski)
  9. GBC Cannot Guarantee Proper Personal Association BY: KURMA DASA Dec 01, AUSTRALIA (SUN) — After everything that has occurred and is occurring within ISKCON since Srila Prabhupada's departure, it is a fact that ISKCON's current day leadership cannot guarantee that its bogus gurus and their supporters can give proper personal association to advance the Society. Our current day ISKCON can only offer association with strings attached. In other words, if you accept the bogus concocted voted-in gurus then association is possible. If you do not accept the concoction, and even if you meet the required standards of chanting the prescribed rounds, etc., then association is denied. It is really that simple. They have created a club. Many of ISKCON's current plethora of gurus are not interested in your liberation, they are simply interested in what they can get from you, how much money you can add to their bottom line. If we consider the facts as they are presented -- gurus having sex, gurus stealing money, gurus criticizing Srila Prabhupada's books, gurus having lots of money, gurus ambitious for control, gurus being voted-in -- generally speaking, we have a society based on bogus gurus. Association need not be personal. You won't hear this from the bogus guru camp though! If we go to the general index in the back of Bhagavad-gita, and look under Devotees, (association with) , and then look through each reference listed there, we find that on page 186, Srila Prabhupada states: "…the Srimad-Bhagavatam also affirms that one should follow in the footsteps of great devotees, and that is the way of progress on the path of spiritual realisation." (Ch. 3, page 186) If we follow Srila Prabhupada are we not following a great devotee? On page 239 of the Bhagavad-gita, Srila Prabhupada states: "To act in Krsna Consciousness, one has to follow the leadership of authorised persons who are in a line of disciplic succession as explained in the beginning of this chapter" (Ch. 4, page 239) If we follow Srila Prabhupada are we not following authorised leadership? On page 241 of Bhagavad-gita, Srila Prabhupada states: "To understand all this one has to associate with authorities in Krsna consciousness and learn the secret from them; this is as good as learning from the Lord directly." (Ch. 4, page 241) Are we not associating with Srila Prabhupada as His followers and learning the secret from Him within His books? On page 333 of Bhagavad-gita, Srila Prabhupada states: "The process of bhakti-yoga can be executed successfully with full-hearted enthusiasm, perseverance, and determination by following the prescribed duties in the association of devotees and by engaging completely in activities' of goodness." (Ch. 6, page 333) If we cannot be within the association of devotees due to the corrupt nature of a society, does this mean we would not get the same benefit by simply following Srila Prabhupada? On page 362 of the Bhagavad-gita, Srila Prabhupada states: "One has therefore to learn from Krsna directly or from a pure devotee of the Krsna and not from a non-devotee upstart, puffed up with academic education." (Ch. 7, page 362) By following Srila Prabhupada, are we not learning from a pure devotee of Krsna? On page 389 of Bhagavad-gita Srila Prabhupada states: "So by association with pure devotees, the inquisitive, the distressed, the seeker after material amelioration and the man in knowledge all become themselves pure." (Ch. 7, page 388) Are these variety of seekers not associating with a pure devotee by reading Srila Prabhupada's books? On page 404 of Bhagavad-gita, Srila Prabhupada states: "This elevation is possible in Krsna consciousness in the association of pure devotees who can deliver one from delusion." (Ch. 7, page 404) Once again, is it not possible for a follower of Srila Prabhupada to be elevated? On page 442 of Bhagavad-gita Srila Prabhupada states: "…the Lord understands the mentality and sincerity of a particular living entity who is engaged Krsna consciousness and gives him the intelligence to understand the science of Krsna in the association of devotees. Discussion of Krsna is very potent, and if a fortunate person has such association and tries to assimilate the knowledge, then he will surely make advancement toward spiritual realisation." (Ch. 9, page 442) There are many followers of Srila Prabhupada around the world offering such association for discussion of Krishna. There are four or five more entries in Bhagavad-gita regarding association, and they all have similar options. If we follow Srila Prabhupada how is this not association? We do not need to follow Bogus Hoaxers, even though they may control His assets and temples, which says even more about how materialistic they are. Prasadam can be offered practically anywhere, and association with Srila Prabhupada cannot be locked up. By following Srila Prabhupada we are, in fact, getting everything we need in the matter of association. Kurma dasa (not the chef)
  10. CAN THIS HAPPEN AGAIN TO iskcon? LEST WE FORGET!! The gurukula children all dressed up in their Fryar Tuck robes on the recommendation of Radhanatha Swami. Training the young girls to grow up to be sannyasinis like Malati Swami. <!-- PHOTO CONTENT: DESCRIPTION, NOTES, COMMENTS -->The giant Prabhupada Buddha deity at New Vrindavan. Radhanatha couldn't figure out that something wasn't right. New Vrindavan Swami's with their special kirtans. An even more special New Vrindavan kirtan. Ilike this photo, very cultural and beautifully performed however, with all due repects, this is not the Prabhupada way, the way his REAL ISKCON is suppose to be. Actually ISKCON today is a watered down version of Prabhupada's REAL ISKCON. Soul brother Devamrita Swami in the present, no more time for laying down the funk. Aniruddha dasa's savour down under these days
  11. A word of caution from Dr Madhavananda das, Director of Bhaktivedanta Hospital, Mumbai: Maharaja is still in the ICU. Even though he's not critical, infection may set in and that will delay his recovery and create some complications. That should be borne in mind. Urgent request regarding HH Jayapataka Swami Maharaja's health: Dear Devotees, Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. As you all know from the Doctor's report that HH Jayapataka Swami Maharaja got an infection yesterday. His moving out of the ICCU to the special ward is delayed because of this. The doctors are annoyed with the devotees for allowing many visitors. And hence, we are writing this urgent message. NO VISITORS will be allowed even the SENIOR DEVOTEES OR THE LEADERS for a week, starting from tomorrow the 2nd until the 10th of December. HH Jayapataka Swami Maharaja wants to come out of the ICCU soon so we need everyone's cooperation. Instead of your coming you can write get well letters or send get well cards to Ratnavali Mataji at rdd@pamho.net and the letters will be read to Maharaja. For a man who is at School of Film, Music and Media University of Hertfordshire, in the UK, you would think he would know better. Lennon/Ono <CENTER></CENTER>BY: ALAN CLARK <CENTER></CENTER> Nov 30, HATFIELD, ENGLAND, UK (SUN) — I am writing in response to <A href="http://www.harekrsna.com/sun/editorials/11-08/editorials3678.htm" target=_blank>the article by Gauragopala dasa about John Lennon's song, 'Happy Christmas War is Over'. <CENTER>FULL STORY</CENTER> John Lennon - 'Happy Xmas and Hare Rama if you want'.‏ I am surprised by Alan Clark’s ignorance of such an historical song as Happy Xmas, the War is Over by John Lennon.. For a man who is at School of Film, Music and Media University of Hertfordshire, in the UK, you would think he would know better. I have the Album in front of me http://lyrics.rockmagic.net/lyrics/lennon_john/shaved_fish_1975.html#s11 And further more the slow background chorus in the background originally alternates between Hare Krishna if you want and war is over if you want. History should remember that His Divine Grace AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada lived with John and Yoko at the Tittenhurst Mansion in 1969. As far as Yoko Ono is concerned, age has nothing to do with it, I’m old myself. Nevertheless, she was kind enough to host the devotees and Prabhupada however, for some reason, all her historical accounts barely mentions the influence of ‘Hare Krishna’ on John. Also, her constant complaining to the devotees was vindictive - John was really getting into the mood of Hare Krishna. Did you know he used to sing different tunes of Hare Krishna on the piano for hours? As the saying goes, history is never recognised while it’s happening and non was taped but some photos were taken. You cannot change history. John Lennon lyrics Album: Shaved Fish [1975] Happy Xmas (War Is Over) Happy Xmas Yoko Happy Xmas John So this is Xmas And what have you done Another year over And a new one just begun And so this is Xmas I home you have fun The near and the dear one The old and the young A very Merry Xmas And a happy New Year Let's hope it's a good one Without any fear And, so this is Xmas For weak and for strong For rich and the poor ones The world is so wrong And so happy Xmas For black and for white For yellow and red ones Let's stop all the fight A very Merry Xmas And a happy New Year Let's hope it's a good one Without any fear And, so this is Xmas And what have we done Another year over And a new one just begun And, so happy Xmas We hope you have fun The near and the dear one The old and the young A very Merry Xmas And a happy New Year Let's hope it's a good one Without any fear Hare Rama, if you want it, e_t_c. Hare Rama, now e_t_c. 14. Jayapataka Swami Out of Danger Monday, December 1st 2008 <!--paging_filter-->Doctors say that ISKCON guru and GBC Jayapataka Swami, who has been recovering from a brain hemorrhage in Mumbai’s Hinduja hospital since late October, will be moved out of the Intensive Care Unit early next week. He was taken off ventilator support on November 21, after which he had an alert and coherent conversation with several godbrothers and other devotees including Radhanatha Swami and Bhakti Purushottam Swami. Speech was painful, however, and he had to use a “speaking valve” provided by doctors. The situation continued to grow more positive as Jayapataka Swami continued to breathe without ventilator support throughout the week. His food intake also increased, and he remained fully conscious and alert. He is currently receiving limb physiotherapy, and at last notice has been breathing comfortably without the ventilator for five days. Devotees around the world, while continuing to pray for his swift recovery, are breathing sighs of relief and thanking Krishna. This message, dictated to Ekanatha Gaura Dasa by Jayapakta Swami on November 24, says it all: “Hare Krishna! Thirty days I am here. I am very tired. Doctor says I am out of danger. GAURANGA!!” Monday, December 1st 2008 - Report: HH Jayapataka Swami Maharaja's status report by Dr Madhavananda das, Director of Bhaktivedanta Hospital, Mumbai: Maharaja is continuing to show steady improvement. Yesterday he was made to sit on the edge of the bed with legs hanging down and support at the back. He's also made to sit on a chair (with support) daily for 4 to 5 hours during which he does hand and leg exercises. He is being fed soft solids orally. Maharaja had fever this morning. The doctors have sent his blood and urine cultures to find the source of infection and have started him on antibiotics. By evening his fever had settled. Please continue your prayers.

  16. What is written below by Jahnava Nitai Das is not eactly correct in this age of Kali-yuga. By taking shelter of Lord Caitanyas pure devotee puts one above the need to apologise to anyone - Why? Because such srrender puts one above material bodily identity that is the cause of the offense. So Technically the material body is controlled by the modes of nature, just as the puppet master controls a puppet. Once we REALIZE it is just playing a role in Maha Vishnu's cosmic dream play, then we SEE the so called offence is just part of the LILA or 'PLAY' to make Prabhupada even more famous. See the bigger picture of what is really going on here. I really believe Prabhupada woUld NOT be offended by a 'photo' being burned, in fact he would chuckle to himself and say Srila Prabhupada would most likely say - "AH, NOW WE HAVE GOT THEIR ATTENTION, NOW THEY ARE STARTING TO RECOGNISE US". Rather Lord Caitanya wanted to punish the offenders severely. Only the person who is offended has the right to forgive the offender. None of us have the right to forgive the offenders who have offended Srila Prabhupada. It is not within our rights to tolerate it, forgive them for it, or remain humble about it. Why? Because it wasnt an offense to us. We can only tolerate our own sufferings, hardships and offenses. We have no right to tolerate someone else's sufferings, hardships or offenses. </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
  17. Good idea, but be careful, people are not as understanding as you may think. So many judgemental types out there, THE MEAT HEAD aUSSIES ARE KNOWN FOR THIS. The fact is, we have had millions of lives anyway, so I try to remember Krishna rather than all the bodily vessels I have murdered, abused, molestered, plundered raped and ripped off over millions of life times. Forget the past it sleeps, and ner the future dream at all. Act in times that are with thee, and progress ye shall call." -Bhaktivinode Thakur

The hotel was one of several places attacked on November 26th. The attacks have left at least 190 dead. (CNN) Many people in the Baltimore area have ties to India, and they’re keeping a close eye on news from that country where terrorists attacked the city of Mumbai this week. The leader of a local Hare Krishna temple says he’s been trying to stay in contact with loved ones, but it hasn’t been easy. Communication out of India has been difficult ever since the attacks happened. Dr. Jagadish Patel grew up in India, but he's lived in the Baltimore area since the late 1960's. He has watched with horror this week -- as gunmen stormed into India's largest city. ‘This is fanaticism; if a person is religious he wouldn't do it,’ he said. The Indian government has not officially determined who the attackers are; Dr. Patel believes they're Muslim extremists from Pakistan. His wife is in India -- and she was in Mumbai on the day of the attack. ‘She was in actually that area, right there,’ he said. But her flight to another part of the country departed a few hours before the chaos began. ‘She just left, luckily, that same day. Her flight was like 6:30 or so and this thing happened at like midnight.’ As he waits to hear from more friends and family members, he worries that whoever struck Mumbai, may be preparing for more attacks. ‘This is like a hectic thing, we are worried, but nothing we can do anything except pray,’ he said. Dr. Patel's Hare Krishna Temple on Bloomsbury Avenue in Catonsville will hold a special service in response to the terror attacks on Friday morning at 9:30. They will also pray for those killed and injured at their regular service this Sunday. </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
