  1. i can't understand how "eating a fruit" corlates to "Existing of God within" , sorry i can't even connect the two with my wildest imaganation. Think harder. /images/graemlins/wink.gif so you mean to say only mindless persons can "become" God? What is a Mind? Mind is product of the Brain and the Sensors; both the Gita and Buddhism (and even Sufism for that matter) will agree to it. Since the Mind is a product of the Brain and Sensors, it is false because you create the Mind by experiencing your world. Can a False notion of a Self promote you to find the Absolute truth? I don't believe it can. A drop of Ocean is not different from Ocean, Qualitiatively, it has all the properties of the Ocean , which i quoted in an earlier reply, "Whatever is present in Macrosom (God) is also present in Microsom (Me)" Nonsense ... that is your Ego speaking. /images/graemlins/wink.gif If you mix a droplet of poison with a droplet of water and mix both, then drink it, you will die (depends on how strong the poison is). If you mix the same poison in a jug of water and drink it, you will die in much slower rate. If you mix it in the ocean and drink some of its water, you will not die because the ocean is so vast, the poison will lost its characteristics and its poison effects. In this statement, the poison do not exist, only the Ocean. Same way, those who returned back to God will lose their own Self and become part of everything else (and God). They will not become God but a part of God, like your eyes is yours to use but not for you to hold on to.
  2. We are talking about Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian topic, NOT about Jesus or whether I'm a Jew, Hindu or anything. So get on with the discussion. And IF you believe I spoke wrongly about Jesus, go to where I have spoken and challenge me there. Don't bring an unrelated matters into unrelated thread and waste everyone's time? Understood?
  3. Kabbalah was one of the A-vaidic (not Vedic) religions practiced in ancient times, where its disciples , worship God with Skulls (Kabalah means skull in sanskrit), we come across one such instance in Adi Shankarachrya's history. I don't know what you know about Kaballah (or referring to what), but you make two mistake : 1. Kaballah is NOT a religion. Jews follow Laws of Moses as religious practise and only a handful of people, especially chosen elders who are above 30 years old age and well-known in Jewish society as God-fearing individuals, chosen to study Kaballah. 2. Kaballah has nothing to do with worshipping Skulls. Descreting a dead body is one of the gravest sins in Jewish tradition, because Jews believe that in Judgement Day, the body shall be awakened to face Judgement by God.
  4. Now I understand your predictment. You are seeking GOD elsewhere, whereas you do not realize that GOD is within you. God is everywhere but I don't look for Him everywhere either. In myself, there is my True Self and my Mind (my Self). True Self (Soul) comes from God and my Mind comes from my sensors. I'm trying to find path back to God by my True Self (Soul) and not by influence of my other Self (Mind). For this, controlling my mind is what I'm after.
  5. First of all congrats on accepting mistakes, it needs a brave heart to do so. Nonsense ... Humans make mistake and Humans correct their mistakes. I don't see what so hard about that or why a brave heart is required for anything. All the eight paths are mentioned in Gita (including the correct and wrong ways of doing them), that is why the leaders of all Paths had quoted and written commentary on it (but of course each person exaggragtes his path, while ignoring or skipping other Paths) I only know (and recognise) 4 Yogas - Dharma, Jnana and Karma as Yoga for Action and Bhakti as Yoga for Beliefs. This is as accordance to Puranas and the Gita. The rest are add-ons which comes later. If GOD exists within me then I am GOD, where is the question of Becoming GOD? If you believe such, then you are a fool. /images/graemlins/wink.gif It is like saying, you eat a fruit (with seeds in them) and proclaim you are a tree which bears fruit. Humans have Mind - product of the Brain and its sensors. As long as the Mind exists, you are you alone.
  6. One of the rules of engagement in Internet (whether it is friendly discussion or heated one is) a person do not need to reveal his/her personal data online to anyone. If you respect people, then you should respect people's privacy as well. I have openly spoke the reason for me being here - I need data from Hindusm for another website where I'm active in and there, not many Hindus around. That is my reason here.
  7. Beforehand, thanks for correcting it. Jnana Yoga - Attaining Him through Knowledge Karma Yoga-through action Bhakti Yoga- Through devotion Yes, accordance to the Gita. Note that you had interchanged Jnana and Karma , Jnana means knowledge and Karma means action. Sorry, my mistake. I interchanged the words but the meaning is the same. One approach God by action and other by seeking knowledge. As for the rest, if it is not stated in the Gita, I will not be bothered ... no insulted attended. Bhagavan says in Gita- "First you will see the entire creation within yourself and then in Me" "I am Arjuna among Pandavas" "Brahama is the fire, Brahama is the Ghee, Brahama is the laddle and Brahama is the one who pours Ghee into the Fire with Laddle" And note that it does not matter in which chapter He tells these, truth does not change from chapter to chapter. He said He exist within ALL creations, including you and me. It didn't say you will become God.
  8. I admit nothing. Because it doesn't matters whether I'm an Indian or a Hindu to speak in accordance to Purana and the Gita with respect to Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva.
  9. Are Kundalini and Kabbalah the same thing? Answer is No, both are not similar but I do not know whether the end outcome is similar or not. Kundalini as far as I know is "exercise" (no insult attended since I'm lack of proper word) in producing and using human's internal energy. Kaballah is "study" (again, cannot find proper words) of God's attributes. Each attributes such as Mercy, Love etc is called Sephiroth. There are 10 Sephiroths in Kaballah which corresponds to 10 major attributes of God. What is the foundation for both of them? Are they very similar? Vastly different? Or basically similar, but with slight differences? Not sure about foundation of Kundalini. My guess is, it is developed by Siddhars throught the ages. Kaballah in the other hand, state to come from God, who gave to Moses by oral (word by mouth), together with Laws of Moses to the Hebrew. One (Kundalini) is study of Man's inner energy and the other (Kaballah) is study of God's attributes.
  10. t may be true that i had not understood Gita properly , in the first thread itself i told i am not an expert. Sounds like you didn't listen to their advice. /images/graemlins/wink.gif Now Bhagvan says in Gita, "Whoever offers me fruit, flower, leaves or even water With LOVE, I appear in person before him and accept his offerings". Where does He say you should only offer yourself and what do you think He will do with your offering? My dear friend it is LOVE that matters, it does not matter what you offer him and he does need anything also. He said it in Bhakti Yoga - All man performs Actions and some tries to become actionless (by performing meditation etc) to cut themselves from accumulating Karma, which almost impossible because even thoughts (which become action) are actions as well, thus generate Karma. So what is the best way? Be inaction or do action for His sake and be free of Karma? Jnana Yoga is method of performing action without seeking its fruits of the action, surrending oneself to the Lord your actions and fruits of the action and thus cutting yourself from good and bad Karma. So, i think you are applying A-brahmic filter to Gita and telling that He expects you to completely surrender to Him and He is not expecting any love from you , because He is at higher Altar than you, but Hinduism says that you and God are at the same level - Atman (Jiva and Prama) Wrong ... it is not Abrahamic filter. To me, Abrahamic religion (Islam) twisted Bhakti and Jnana Yoga into idiotic beliefs, to the fact that some Muslim actually believe that going to toilet and wash their a$$ properly is sign of Bhakti. Also that action of screwing their wives are alos method of Bhakti. Makes my skin crawl. And WHERE did it say that you and God are in same level? Show me. Your Soul is like a drop of water - just one droplet in billions of other droplets in the river known as Society. By stating that you and God is in same level is like saying a droplet of water will become an Ocean when it emerges with the Ocean at the end of the journey. And i dont know why you are comparing Muslims and Jnana yogis, Muslims are mainly based on Faith or Submission and Jnana Yogis are full of questioning (Read vedantha) they question the very concept of God. Wrong again ... Jnana Yogis are people who commit themselves in field of Action to reunite with God. Bhakti Yogis are people who commit themselves in feild of Submission and Faith to reunite with God. Dharma Yogis are the one who commit themselves to field of knowledge and Science in order to reunite with God. This three category is from Bhavagad Gita and, frankly speaking, I don't know what you are.
  11. This is surprising to see so many not fasting in holy occassions. In Malaysia, fasting is a act of purifying the mind and body before conducting some functions. Only time Hindus in Malaysia do not fast is when Deepavalli comes around. Yet, you guys making a big fuss of withholding food for 8 ~ 12 hours in one day.
  12. you will learn that the big bang has been completely discredited for some time now, kept alive by those whose careers and dogma are at stake(the big bang theory was originated by a catholic priest). Do you know what is the Church's stand on this? They believed that God made the Heaven and Earth (meaning space and the Planets) in 7 days. So, to say they believe in Big Bang is to say that Church accepted the Universe to form without a God to create it and took millions of years (not 7 days) to form. Both are against Christianity. So how do you say that Big Bang is a theory originated by Catholic Priest?
  13. As for the atheist, it would not trouble them coz than theu would believe in the creater and Karma. Nope, they will whine like pigs and complain that God pushed them into situations which requires work (in their behalf) to mend the situation. I have been "fighting" Atheism in another forum for weeks and I conclude that, many become Atheists not because they don't have logical defination of God, but many of them choose not to believe in God. To a person who do not believe in God but remembers his past life, it just be another excuse to show how unfair God is. Yours is only assuption, may or may not do such. But there are those lucky ones who have recalled their past life and are able to accept it. By knowing our past life would give us an opportunity to make amends and steer of the bad path in order to attain motcham. You can say I make assumption and I can say you making assumptions also. Both are correct, no one is wrong. Our assumptions is based on our view of society - your view maybe one with Hope for better outcome in Life, mine is one without Hope, just Cold-hearted Strictness. The present self is not living but discovering. We are not puppets and God is not the puppeter. We have our own free will and it works according to our past karma while God is only a wittness to all our action. I never said God is a puppeter. Karma (past and present) is our Puppeteer. We are bound by it. Discover thy self before dicovering God. "THE TRUTH IS THAT TRUTH IS" Is there a true Self in me? Some say got, some say don't have. If God is true, I rather choose to discover Him rather than waste it on myself.
  14. Know what you speak, don't simply shoot if you do not have information. The people known as Jews were actually comes from a region known as Amarna in Egyth around 3000 B.C. You know who is King Tut? His father is the 1st in Abrahamic Religion to throw away all the old Eyptian Gods and embrace worship of a single God - begin of Abrahamic Religion. After he did, King Tut reign in his place but Tut can only last till he reach 18. He died (some say he was murdered, some say he had an accident). Anyway, the Cult of the Sun Disk (as it was known) were disbanded and the people were forced back into mainstream society which worshipped the many Gods for next new generations. My guess is, that the Cult of the Sun Disk didn't die away but remain as small group within the society. Maybe because of this, this group were treated with less love by the Pharoahs and the mainstream society. Moses came, took this people who later calls themselves Hebrews out of Eygpt and to what is today, known as Israel, which is their Promised Land. This people continue to exist as Jews. Jesus came from this people, bring with him Christianity, but Jews rejected him because he potray himself as God/Son of God - both which is against teaching of Moses. Later, Muhammad came and Jews accepted him at first but his methods were barbaric and accordance to low-level Arabs. Many of his Laws were against both teachings of Moses and Jesus and therefore, Jews rejected him as well.
  15. What would US choose? Pak (a dictator) is a "friend" of US to fight terrorism. F-16 sale would mean US desires nuclear arms race. US wants to make iraq a democracy. Would US care to befriend the largest existing democracy - India? My answer ... No, US will not become friends with India. As long as India supplies mental power to power up Americans' industry and also provide market opportunities, America is India's friend. When India wants to become independant and self-sufficient, America will not support.
  16. While Maadhav may not be good in Science, his reaction is a proper one. Like him, I too do not like this technology much because in order to harvest stem cells, you need to kill life. Here's a website about Stem Cells : http://stemcells.nih.gov/info/basics/ [Qoute] Embryonic stem cells, as their name suggests, are derived from embryos. Specifically, embryonic stem cells are derived from embryos that develop from eggs that have been fertilized in vitro—in an in vitro fertilization clinic—and then donated for research purposes with informed consent of the donors. They are not derived from eggs fertilized in a woman's body. [/Qoute] Basically, Stem Cells can ONLY harvested from eggs that is fertilized (which means have essence of Life in it) and not from unfertilized eggs. Questions now which you should :- 1. Do you believe whether fertilized Eggs have Souls in them or not? 2. Is this practise morale according to Hindusm? 3. Is killing a fertilized egg equals to kill a new born baby? I also like to bring your attentions to what happened Dorna's Son - Ashawathan when he attempt to kill an unborn child to satisfy his anger and hatred. God (through Sri Krishna) already shown His stance in this matter.
  17. I find it annoying that a Guest who didn't register or registered but didn't login could come forth and ask a registered member about his/her personal details. One of the rules of conduct in Internet is, it is your right whether or not you want to be anoymous or not. It is very confusing. In some places, you post like an expert on Hinduism and suddenly, you deny being hindu. At other places, you speak as if you're Indian and in this post, you say you aren't. Which is true? The truth is this - if what I spoke of is accordance to Bhavagad Gita and the Puranas, with respect to Lord Shiva, Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu, then that is all that matters. My personal details is not necessary if I speak the truth.
  18. To redeem ourself we should know the past karma otherwise it is a BIG question mark. People are suffering in all kinds of situation, sickness, lost of livelyhood, lost of wife or children and the latest to the list are victims of tsunami. They all would like to know the reason for their sufferings. May be by knowing the reason and the bad karma of their past life, it would give them a chance redeem for a better life after this. If people know their past existence, there will be trouble, like : 1. Muslims will make noise, saying it is devil's play. 2. Christians will make noise, saying it is devil's play also because, if reincarnation is proven, Jesus's so-called sacrifice is false. 3. Buddhist and Hindus are least to make noise, I guess. 4. Atheists will call it illusion and swallow a few dozen medicine to correct their brains. /images/graemlins/wink.gif Furthermore, some will accept it and improve on present life, some will be attached himself to his past self (like the day in the example), and some doesn't care. Some will be burdened by his past sins, and he will view whatever he is doing now will not be enough and that could lead him astray. Yes, truely I do no know about my past life. What was I or who was I and where do I go from here. It would be interesting to know all this. Although the scriptures tells us of our existence it does not tell us precisely about our bad karmas in the past life. May be by tapas one may aquire the knowledge to know the secret but it would not be possible for all to do such. That because God wants you to concentrate in living in the present self. Know which is bad and which is good and do it accordingly. Also, according to Buddhist scriptures, Buddha stated that by doing meditations and spiritual activities, one can remember his past life as his spiritual strenght increases. So, it is safe to say, to know your past, you must become strong to accept it, and many people cannot even accept their bad deeds in this one. So, my learned friend could you tell me of your past life? And how did you go about knowing it? Sufficient enough to say ... some people have less attachment in Life than others.
  19. So what? Muslims views pre-Islamic era as Zaman Jahilliah (Age of Ignorance) so even if you present all this (so-called) facts to a muslim, he will turn the table around, say that all the teachings of prophets before Muhammad were corrupted and Muhammad come to correct that mistake.
  20. You know ... for someone who claims to be follower of Gita, I truly think you don't know Bhavagad Gita. what you believe or don't believe doesn't and everything is His choice you are echoing some very old beliefs in Hinduism (called the fate theory), which in turn means that you are not Responsible for your actions or beliefs, everything is His choice in other word Fate. Now you can do anything and everything you like within your capacity, and no matter what you do (or don't do) is going to change what you would experience, what an irrational belief. Wrong interpretation. You do everything to the best of your ability as an offering to Him (whether He is Lord Shiva or Lord Vishnu), whether He accept it or not, it depends on Him. IF He accept your offering, you will be successful in your endavour. THAT is Jnana Yoga and those who does it are Jnana Yogis. What? Your Vaishnavas didn't teach you that? Funny thing is, you talk about making offering of food to Him but forget about offering yourself. /images/graemlins/wink.gif And major difference between Muslims and Jnana Yogis is, Jnana Yogis MUST offer their best. Muslim on the other hand offer only what they could and even that, they don't do properly and call such lazy endavours Fate. You go and buy gold, you choose the best for your money. You go and eat in restaurant, you expect the best food available and best service you can get. You go to doctor and you expect the best medicine money can buy. Yet, when you choose to make offering to God, you give what you can and think it is enough. And no, it is NOT irrational belief, it is Jnana Yoga which you failed to understand. /images/graemlins/wink.gif Samurais in Japan, Knights of Christianity in Europe and Kyastrias of India all gave their very lives as offering to God in the way of Jnana Yogis. Sun God and Yama Dharma (Angel of Death) also Jnana Yogis as well for conducting their duties properly. All of them do not follow irrational beliefs. /images/graemlins/wink.gif Also please note that destroying This Planent does not mean destroying You (unless you claim you are the body), even destroying the Whole universe will not destroy you, since you are beyond the material universe and an eternal Jiva. You can be "destroyed" only when you loose your identity or ego. [i mean this in literal sense, not in the meaning of a humble person where You supress your ego for some cause] Wrong belief or interpretation again. /images/graemlins/wink.gif You seems to have this twisted notion that you are a God here. I don't know which tree you fall down from (or which tree fell on you) but your interpretation of Gita is as accurate as saying Prostitutes are virgins.(Sarcasm) /images/graemlins/wink.gif It is said in Bhavagad Gita that the Lord is the ONLY one who is capable of "killing" the Soul. When men kill another, he kills the body but the soul will find another host and reborn. But when the Lord kills the body, He will take the Soul and there is no more rebirth. What the Lord does is His business. So, by destroying the world and cease to have a place where the Souls will reborn in, humanity WILL perish. Even if the World is not destroyed but humanity is wiped out, the soul will find other hosts to be reborn in and thus, the circle begins anew.
  21. so, to say 'mohammed was a yogi' is like saying 'skunk sprays rose fragrence.' A good one. /images/graemlins/smile.gif I heard of Kundalini from a few places but don't have proper information. Have you seen a Discovery program on Self-Immolation which linked to Kundalini running amok in the body? I forgot what it was called ... Human Combustion Theory (SHC) I think.
  22. so, such knowledge needs to be spread. if people do not know it, they will be meat eaters and asuras, and the society will suffer. if a vegetarisan lievs in a meat eater society he will suffer too, to some extent. it is not fun to live with asuras. Ahem ... in what way, Asurans not fun to live with? so, each vegetarisn should be ready to prove any one that his choice is very intellegent. if he is not ready, the asuras will ridicule vegetarians (and this may cause some to become meat eaters, which is not progress.) Not all like that, you know. Some meat-eaters (like myself ... I could almost hear a few Vegetarians scream in horror now) recognise the beneficts of Vegetarians. Matter a fact, I work with Indians and many of them (ladies especially) eat vegetarian food. I have no problem with them as long as they have no problem with me gnawing in meat. /images/graemlins/smile.gif BTW ... I remember one funny incident. I usually give blood donations whenever the "suckers" (doctors) comes by to my company. There was this Indian fellow who were talking with me once and he asked me whether I gave blood or not. I said I did and you know what he said. "Good," he said with a smile, "people need blood from Vegetarians like US." I told him I wasn't a vegetarian and he gave me a look like I just opened my mouth and shown my fangs or something. It was so cute ... and he's quite pale also. Does blood of a Vegetarian and a Non-Vegetarians have any difference? What will happen if you are a Vegetarian and you receive donation from blood of a non-Vegetarian?
  23. Sephiroth

    brittain

Anyway, you want to know how Germany FELT after losing the war OR how Germany lost the war? Either question are unrelated to Hindusm, by the way.
  24. Good article, but you forget some facts also. If after getting independance India did some things using traditional approach, it could be modern India where the people will be united, but it made a few mistakes. Those mistakes are : 1. It never incorporated Religion into Politics because Indian Government were afraid giving too much power to one religious supporters will promote uneaseness toward others, especially Muslim. I heard somewhere that British actually thought India going to suffer due to its vast majority of Hindus and Muslims. 2. A lot of their religous thinkers were either dead, behind bars or pushed aside by politicians who grab power. I believe if Mahatma Gandhi become the 1st President, India could have a good foundation to become India which can stand on its own today. 3. Lack of good politicians and too much power given to young, unexperience groups to shape the country. 4. The most important failure I see in India is its failure to choose a proper model to model itself. India choose America as it's friend and model and we all know that America is the biggest abuser of Civil right in the world for the past 250 years. I couldn't help but to wonder whether Indians were stupid when they choose US. I mean ... how can you reject one thief (British) only to choose another thief (America)? Malaysia choose Japan as its model, simply because, while Malays were conquered and somewhat abused by Japanese during World War 2, Malays recognised Japanese qualities and their love for tradition, heritage and hard-work.
