  1. That painting is from the 1972 Gita. If you watch long enough, He will step out of the painting.

A priest, a rabbi, and a Vaishnava go into a bar. The priest says, "Without doubt, this is the best bar in Dublin." "I'll be the judge of that!" says the rabbi. <img src=http://www.dream-hits.de/galaxy5/anigifs/C/computers/computers19.gif>they both fall down. Pouring the rest of the bottle on their heads, the Vaishnava yells: "No, it's inconceivably one and different!"<font color="#dedfdf"> [This message has been edited by gHari (edited 03-01-2002).]
  4. Next Tuesday may prove exciting given this from http://www.chalomumbai.com/asp/article.asp?cat_id=29&art_id=20919&cat_code=2F574841545F535F4F4E5F4D554D4241492F5441415A415F4B4841424152&name=afroz February 19,2002 Mohammad Afroz's uncle, who is currently in Australia, has close links with Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda, according to a Mumbai police team, led by Joint Commissioner Bhujangrao S Mohite, which returned from Australia on Sunday. The team, which visited Melbourne and Canberra, claims to have returned with extensive information of Afroz's involvement with al-Qaeda. Police in India have charged Afroz with being part of a suicide squad that was to crash a plane into the House of Commons in London on September 11. Other planes were to be allegedly crashed into Parliament House and Rialto Towers, Sydney. "The Australian police cooperated with us," Mohite said. Others on the team included Assistant Commissioner Ramakant Padwal and Senior Inspector Dilip Patil. Mohite said, ''Afroz's uncle, Mubarak, who is at present in Australia, is closely linked to al-Qaeda. Afroz was called to Australia for pilot training along with 50 others, including Bangladeshi, Pakistani and Irani nationals. Only 34 of them were selected for suicide squads. Sketches of the 34 alleged to have trained with Afroz had been drawn up according to descriptions he provided after his arrest in October 2001. "We sent the sketches to several countries where the suspects are likely to be," Mohite said. Police also procured evidence of Afroz's registration in Australian pilot training institutes, attendance register details and information of the rented house. Police had said they seized large sums of money from three bank accounts in Mumbai registered in the names of his family members and discovered that Afroz had received funds of over Rs 1 crore in the past five years. Another police team, headed by Commissioner M N Singh and comprising Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Sawant and Senior Inspector Dilip Patil, is expected to leave for the US and UK on Friday.
  5. Avinash, You have to get the images onto the web somewhere. You can get free web sites at http://geocities.com or perhaps your ISP (Internet Service Provider) may have included some space with your account. You can see the code to be used on the forum to get a web image to display by clicking the EDIT icon above this message (see the pencil). <center><img src=http://home.earthlink.net/~jay540/syama.jpg></center> gHari P.S. - It seems that geocities.com may no longer allow downloading images from your geo web sites. If you want, you can e-mail the images to me, and I will place them on my ISP web space, and then forward the URL addresses to you for them. 12. Avinash, Is a Mami like a grand mother? You are so fortunate to be able to share Krsna with them. I wish a good future, knowable or unknowable, for all three of you. gHari
  13. Well it's been a dozen years since my staff in New York dragged this Canadian boy into their hockey league. I'm a goaltender from childhood (the only safe place on the ice), but they needed me as a forward. It was fun and I got into shape, but I just had to play goal in another league. After buying veggie pads like the NHL, the night before my first game in the nets again, I couldn't sleep - just like Christmas eve for a little kid. I couldn't figure out why I had quit when I got married, and didn't play from 25 to 42. It seems that two years on Long Island was enough to get it out my system, and make me a kid again, forever. But anyway, that is all behind me; yet I must note that this year was a very special year for us Canucks at the Olympics. Our boys and girls both brought home gold after ousting strong Merican contenders in what may have been the best hockey that will ever be played. We don't have much of an army, but we are the warriors of the ice! I wonder if those poor shlubs in the war-infested territories realize that life can be so nice. Maybe they can't chant japa, but at least they could play like nice little boys and girls. It doesn't take much to be happy in this world.<font color="#f7f7f7"> [This message has been edited by gHari (edited 02-25-2002).]
  14. I think we'd call good: pleasing God. And if we use algebra to resolve the additional equations supplied in the two previous posts, we can reduce them to: therefore we can conclude that: 1. That which pleases God, leads us to God; 2. Enmity towards God leads us away from Him. These both seem quite reasonable; and down right astute. if you ask me.

  17. Who knows what will please God? Srimati Radharani. Who knows Her? The gopis. What is the best religion? The only one that knows these esoteric truths? Lord Sri Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu's dharma. Is it the best executed? When I see that huge world wars erupt when great devotees leave the world, then I have to know that there is no higher dharma. Other religions may produce many moral people, but I have no doubt that very few can actually achieve the real goal of life - such a great soul is very rare.
  18. I was just watching some Indian music videos on the tube. I must say I really love the music, and the dancing is also very nice. But the women were so very elegantly beautiful and so nicely dressed, I had to turn my eyes away in fear. (My bad) I guess it is okay for a good woman to look so attractive, but is it sattvic for women in general to look so incredibly beautiful? By comparison Western women and their attire are so drab.
  19. Yup, proof positive of the stupidity of the 'Christians'.
  20. Perhaps evil is the external manifestation of enmity towards God; whether that be a demon for His pastimes or our falling to a posture adverse to His desires.<font color="#dedfdf"> [This message has been edited by gHari (edited 02-23-2002).]
  21. I was fortunate to be able to sit by my mother's hospital bed, chanting in her ear while she spent her last times in a coma. Had she been awake, she would never have tolerated it. A couple of months ago, various limbs of my body started to go numb. I began considering that I might leave. No anxiety; just regret that I haven't really preached nicely. Always putting it off; just like I missed thanking Prabhupada - then he was gone. It seems to have helped me with my attachment to my son, and any desire to enjoy the toys seems to have left as well. I think the only real preparation is surrender. As devotees, we should be expert in helping our parents approach this position. We know there is no other way; and maybe in the final times they will be more receptive than ever to hear us sing our song, that song we love so much.<font color="#f7f7f7"> [This message has been edited by gHari (edited 02-23-2002).]
  22. How so? Well, the whole thing, but as an example, Christ became part of Christmas again in Bogota. Everywhere. My Australian and American associates looked like absolute demons in the presence of the continuous carols and celebrations. My 'buddies' looked down on the pious 'peasants', as they raced to the bar after work. I tried hard not to show my absolute contempt for them, but eventually it had to be apparent, even to such dull creatures. I guess, overall in a word, it would be renunciation.
  23. Dark side = maaaaaaaaya; light side = bhakti. Big demons = Jaya and Vijaya had some 'bad karma from offending the Goddess of Fortune' and got themselves booted out of the spiritual world for a while. Saddam, Genghis, Osama, Adolf? No guesses here. Are we talking original sin, Hyranikasipu, Osama, S-s-satan, Banasura, s-s-s-sex or maybe heroin? Sorry, all questions; no answers.
