1. Actually the right nomenclature for "The Man" (and I worried numerous times last night about having possibly been offensive here) is

OM VISNUPAD SRILA BHAKTIVINODE THAKURA

Gauracandra is da' Prawboo for sure. He is certainly the man, but when I see the awe Srila Prabhupada has for Srila Bhaktisiddhanta, and then heaped upon that is the respect Sarasvati has for his father, then I see that Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura is "The Man". The Man responsible for giving me Everything. gHari (Hoping to counteract any offenses)
 2. Great stuff as usual from The Man. His perspective is always so liberating. Thanks for the link, Gauracandra Prabhu. I will read it many times.

 4. Beemer, This might be a good thread for them to get used to us. I'm from Canada, that huge country above the United States. It seems you three may be from far away. Video games do produce great reflexes and eye-hand coordination, but eventually after that is achieved it gets like the same old thing again and again. I know - I used to earn my living creating video games in the early days (mid 80's). My son was 14 and he thought I was a god. He would come to work with me and test the games I had programmed. I must admit that it was the most fun job I ever had. We're both over it now; he got onto a skateboard that same year and now at thirty he makes his living flying through the air like Garuda himself on a skateboard. But enough of games. I think it will prove very interesting to find out how young folks see life nowadays. I look forward to hearing from your sons, Beemasane das. Now after all this intrigue, they had better start posting soon! Hare Krsna gHari
 5. Envy of Krsna, manifesting in attachment.
 6. Has anyone else wondered whether this was a jihad incident? Was the taxi driver Muslim? Did he purposely send the passenger side of the vehicle into a tree at high speed? They say he fell asleep, but I only fall asleep after maybe ten hours non-stop on the road. Please excuse me if this speculation seems inappropriate.
 7. Ha ha ha. Well-presented, the punch line, it was, Yoda. Punch picture, to be more exact. I keep expecting a similar suspense breaker in the battle of the Vedic transmigration of the soul versus evolution from ooze theories. But I fear that truth may be buried even farther down.

 10. Here are a few quotes from various sources about the soul and the spiritual body:
 11. Indian lady: Is it better to chant the Hare KRSNa mantra loud or is it better hide the mantra? PrabhupAda: As loud as possible.
 12. How's this for coincidence: I couldn't remember the nature of the second poster I had painted at the church that day. Now, in the translation of that last Bhagavatam shloka, it magically appears.

I AM GOD'S GOD IS MINE

Acintya! [This message has been edited by gHari (edited 04-01-2002).]
 13. In SB 6.16.41 Srila Prabhupada notes one weakness which will eventually topple a religion. Therefore we should emphasise this aspect and make it the strength of our basic promotional structure:
 14. Yes indeed. I am envisioning a spread sheet with Gauracandra's secrets to successful religions in one column, then a column for the Gaudiya's approach, then a third large column for brainstorming new ideas. Each aspect we discuss, I can see how clever Lord Caitanya and Srila Prabhupada have been in their application of Gauracandra's principles. Even sanatana dharma and varnasrama become clearer and so logical when analysed in this way. Keep up the good work. I think we are getting even more out of this exercise than merely a new face-lift.
 15. At Ratha Yatra a few years ago, for the first time I reached out and touched the lotus feet of Prabhupada's murti beside Lord Jagannatha. In my mind I asked that I could serve him nicely on the internet. He held onto my hand for at least fifteen seconds. It seemed forever; he was so kind. I hope this is what I am doing on this forum.
 16. The URL for glorifying Sri Caitanya is: http://geocities.com/caitanyamahaprabhu There is even a 46 volume biography there. He may well be the greatest Vedic scholar ever to emerge in Bharata.
 17. Attracted to both? Then you need the philosophy of Sri Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu from the fifteenth century (sometimes spelled Chaitanya). His idea was that God is simultaneously one and different from all that is.

 20. Dear Beemasane, I seem to remember that those wearing Tulasi neck beads go directly to the Kingdom of God when they leave. I'll try to find the quote that gave me that lasting impression later. gHari [This message has been edited by gHari (edited 03-17-2002).]
