Hare Krsna, To become Krsna conscious one should do a few simple things..... /images/graemlins/laugh.gif As you showed knowledge of chanting, and said you were not able to chant 16 rounds. If you chant even one mantra you are doing good, one mantra with out offence may be enough. So just try to chant purely, and frequently. You dont always have to chant the Holy name on beads, you can chant it while walking down the hall to the next class. If others think you are strange "talking to himself" and you dont like it then chant in your mind. Every embodied soul has to eat also, that must be made into an offering for Krsna. There is ways to offer food to Krsna that can be found out. Then you are associating with Him when you eat offered food to Krsna. Prasadam. One must come to the Mode of Goodness to develope Love of God. Find out what is the Mode of Goodness and try to be on that platform as much as possible. I am writing this with out much instruction i realize. But i would reccomend to hear from our Founder/Acarya to get more instruction. Prabhupada has very much information on how to become Krsna con. and how to get to the mode of goodness. Perhaps to His Back to Godhead Magazine and read what he has to say there. Or get some of his books if you do not have them already. It may be hard to keep the mind interested in reading or hearing from Prabhupada especially at 16 but it must be done. When one is sincere then gradually you become more and more enlightened. I started in my teens and still now in my 40's there is much difficulty, but i have gotton a small taste and know that i cant give up. Sorry i could not give more time to this, just keep going. Pray to Krsna and chant frequently read and hear from Prabhupada offer your food try to be on the platform of goodness.Associate with others on the path towards Krsna and dont be cheated by trying to be unmotivated. Hare Krsna, You have spoken quite nicely,above,i noticed after going back to read through more carefully. I think my "problem" with being overly eager towards Prabhupada's unique position is caused from the past. I want to relate a story from my past without using names... While doing my service a bunch of years ago, i was asked by my guru (the one who gave me spiritual name<not bhakta chris> and at the time was called a "zonal acarya") to do something for him to aid his health. What he wanted (i thought using my expert<in my field of service> opinion) would be disruptive to the souls in my care. I told him to wait untill it was less disruptive towards those souls to get what he wanted. This somewhat displeased him and he wrote me a letter on official "zonal acarya" letterhead.(although we lived under same roof).In the letter he said he could not understand why i was not letting him have his way. And that if the guru of another disciple in another temple was asked to get such and such he would do it immediatly. And i had no doubt of it because my father was "into" my Krsna consciousness at that time and would visit me once and awhile. Once on a visit he brought me to the temple where my guru compared my attitude with the other guru and disciple. There i was shocked to see the poor care given to the souls under the care of that disciple and guru as our counterparts. And after seeing the very unexceptable care given(under the standards i was given by Prabhupada's direct servant)i realized that i made the right decision.For they really did not care to be the best at their service(for Prabhupada)just be the best at "suckin up" to their unpure guru. And perhaps unthinkingly or subconsciously after that i made a decision to go through the daily worship and adoration of my guru but to keep Prabhupada as my main Master. Then as i was able to associate with Prabhupada more and my guru less i realized that i only wanted to hear from Prabhupada. And try to please Him, by my service, using His standards and not cast off my name giving or initiation guru, but always stay digilent and chaste to our Sampradaya Acarya,A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami above all others. And again,sorry if i have offended or spoken wrongly, i am only sometimes on the path and mostly lost in the dark.

If i said something that was mistaken(no surprise)please forgive me. I felt bad after posting some after the poll for guru, and wanted to retract or change a word. I did not mean to try to say that Prabhupada was better or more or that His Godbrothers are less or not good. Anyone who enlivens Krsna consciousness in our hearts i think is our 'guru'. I have had a difficult time with 'gurus' of the past.The one who gave me spirtual name, the one who had lusty feelings for me, the one who hid in a car with another to hide what they were saying,etc.etc. Then after all these years i came back to Prabhupada or came to Him after knowing him for so long. And i have found so much depth and urgency in His message, that my appreciation gets the better of me. Yes i may have been taught wrong or been part of those who were not unmotivated. HareKrsna, What is the repentence for Nama Aparada(offence to the Holy name)it is to go back to the Holy name and try again with more consentration. The Holy name absolves ones sins and the sins created by offence to that Holy name. One can only Chant as purely as one can and advance by following closely to the regulative priciples. As i remember about kalki is that He comes at the end of Kali yuga which started 5000years-/+ and will come in 10,000+/-?years from now. Hare Krsna Prabhu, I am a "weekend warrior" as the BBT has listed my results for book distribution. Lately my distributions of Bhagavad-gita Collier/Macmillan edition have been at local librarys.And they are loving it! (so am i) And hopefully (no question) Prabhupada is also happy with it. Also i have been distributing other smaller books to those who are intested (friends family).Those books are ones that are just sitting on shelves around the country and are advertised on "ebay". I have been able to get "authorized" editions from when Prabhupada was still here to keep the editors in line and not changing things. Hari Bol Prabhus, I am "bhaktachris" and have found great inspiration through the Hare-Krishna.org web site similar to this one. I live far from devotees in a very rural state and use these sites for Sat Sanga. I am a "cow herd boy" from the past,present and future (on this planet) as my main service. I am also a "weekend warrior" for book distribution for Bhaktivedanta Swami's ORIGINAL books. As well as raising a Krsna conscious daughter. I have a question...... what are the "demographics" of this group? I found at Hare-Krishna.org that they are mostly followers of Prabhupada and they also think the GBC is doing a good or very good job. Mostly from America or Britain,Canada. Can any one answer? Kasyapa Muni did not falsely declare himself to be jagad-guru, although he actually was jagad-guru because he advocated the cause of Vasudeva. Actually, Vasudeva is jagad-guru, as clearly stated here <vasudevam jagad-gurum>. One who teaches the instructions of Vasudeva, Bhagavad-gita, is as good as vasudevam jagad-gurum. But when one who does not teach this instruction -- as it is-- declares himself jagad-guru, he simply cheats the public. Krsna is jagad-guru, and one who teaches the instruction of Krsna as it is, on behalf of Krsna, may be accepted as jagad-guru. One who manufactures his own theories cannot be accepted; he becomes jagad-guru falsely. ...Adi7.64...Srila Rupa Goswami, however, has explained that jagad-guru properly refers to one who is the controller of his tongue, mind, words, belly, genitals and anger. Prthivim sa sisyat: such a jagad-guru is completely fit to make disciples all over the world. Madhya 18.207....In India there are many Mayavadi sannyasis known as jagad-guru, although they have hardly visited the whole world. Antya7.12....Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura explains that unless one is directly empowered by the causeless mercy of Krsna, one cannot become the spiritual master of the entire world <jagad-guru>.One cannot become an acarya simply by mental speculation. The true acarya presents Krsna to everyone by preaching the holy name of the Lord throughout the world.

Hare Krsna, All respect to the Gurus of the world. But i must correct. Jagad Guru means "World Guru". And we all know that the only one who was able to make the Hare Krsna Maha Mantra a "House Hold" name in every "Town and Village" was A.C.Bhaktivedanta. Perhaps some other guru has taught after Him(around the world) but since the "60's" the only one who can hold the literal title of "Guru Of The World" is the one who fulfills the literal meaning of the word Jagad/World Guru. Of course Krsna is the Original Jagad-Guru. However Prabhupada did say that any guru advocating the teaching of Vasudeva is a Jagad Guru

As there are offeses against chanting the holy name, similarly, there are offenses in dhama, that in the dhama one should not perform any sinful activities in the dhama. In the dhama, if you chant Hare Krsna mantra, then it increases thousand times. Similarly, in the dhama, if you commit offences it increases thousand times. So dhama, one should be very careful not to commit any sinful activities. Illicit sex, or intoxication, meat-eating and gambling--these are the sinful activities. So Vrndavana-dhama, aprakrta dhama. Those who are attached to visaya, sense gratification, they cannot see what is Vrndavana. They cannot see what is Vrndavana. Hare Krsna /images/graemlins/grin.gif i do not know much but i am coming to understand that A.C.Bhaktivedanta is this world's guru or Jagat Guru. How to know this? If you go up to the population of this world and ask them,"Have you ever heard of the Hare Krsna mantra" a majority of them will answer "yes". The Guru in spiritual matters gives the disciple his Mantra. A.C.Bhaktivedanta spread the Hare Krsna Maha Mantra to every town and village (of the world). He also explained that in this world there are 2 kinds of people....the cheaters and the cheated. The one who accepts A.C.Bhaktivedanta as Jagat Guru is a very small minority of the population. But although the majority does not accept this, still he has given the Maha Mantra to "every town and village" I work amongst regular people in my rural state in america and when i ask if someone knows the Hare Krsna Maha Mantra they always say yes. And many times they will be able to chant it properly too! Only one soul was able to do this (with the help of His faithfull) and that Soul was A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami or the real Jagat Guru. Try for your self, ask if the population knows of the Hare Krsna, or if they know of another mantra. The Hare Krsna mantra will win out in the world population.

The Sanskrit word avatara literally means "he who descends." One who descends from the spiritual universe into the material universe through his own will is called an avatara. In India there are examples like Haridas Thakura, Prahlada Maharaj. And Western countries also, Lord Jesus Christ, he is saktyavesa- avatara, God's son. bhakta chris thoughts.... A nitya-siddha is one who is eternally Krsna's associate, an expansion of Krsna's personal body, whereas a sadhana-siddha is an ordinary human being who, by executing pious activities and following regulative principles of devotional service, also comes to that stage.

From the Srimad Bhagavatam we get Knowledge from the last Yuga or time cycle (like seasonal changes<winter/KALI YUGA> previous Yuga was Dvapara-yuga/fall) There are 4 Yuga cycles same as Earth year with 4 seasons. Bhagavatam tells of each Yuga along with its associated Avataras. And Transcedental Knowledge of Krsna and His associates on earth taking part of their pastimes during the last cycle of Dvarapa, which ended at Bhagavad-gita time, which came at the end of the last yuga (Dvapara) 5,000+/- ago. And again when the (as predicted<the holy name/maha mantra>lord chaitanya) Hare Krsna Maha Mantra was "brought to every town and village of this planet" Started by Bhaktivinod(first to print pure bhakta Knowledge in english) then Bhaktisiddhanta (increase direction towards "spreading the holy name to every town and village")Bhaktivedanta successfully "spreads holy name to every town and village" fulfilling His Gurus instructions. Transcendental Knowledge or Shastra is Timeless and Unchanging like God and is passed down through hearing (we are forgetfull) so in Kali Yuga (now) we need books, where previous Yugas they did not rely only on them. And Prabhupada in simple english translated these most ancient of books and others too. Simple english yes, unmotivated transparent via medium of this very old knowledge. God, the Individual and Every thing related to Them makes for a lot of Transcedental Knowledge. I for one love this site for it allows discussion in a setting that is less intimidating than face to face. I have made many mistakes in my 45 years as a soul in an american man's body. And have great difficulty speaking with others. But here i can be accepted or rejected it does not matter. And it inspires me to think about the Philosophy and read about the Philosophy and write about the Philosophy of Srila Prabhupada. And if corrected my ego will not rear up as when talking face to face. So bring on the masses we need to talk about things related to this most wonderful movement which Prabhupada made.
