I'm thinking if he goes in the painting he will either be on the sidelines observing, as Maitreya said, or behind a tree where you can't see him at all. Not that I don't want consultation, it's just that I am here with this little picture and see where it's going. I like the baseball cap idea. Maybe with the badge what me worry on it (his body is not gonna show, for sure. He only gets to peek out of the painting, no more. There is a scarecrow with a book in his hand, yet to be titled, a peacock, a small boat with people caught in the inundation (for better or worse? all seems positive from the larger perspective, Krsna's watchful eye), and there is a statue of an angel upside down, being carried away by the flood. There is an eagle too. I think if Alfred makes it in it might be good to have Charlie Chaplin there too. There is a skeleton too. More feedback please. I may be getting carried away in this inundation of images. Anything already there can be painted or pasted over. JR

This logic though contradicts what you are trying to defend. Who goes around asking devotees if they are gay, and what they do in their private lives? We present the teachings, the process, we don't absorb ourselves in what is not our business. And yet Brahma prabhu seems to want to make a POINT of bringing up homosexuality for discussing in sangha situations. Well I say the same thing, and so do others who object to the policy of sanctioning homosexuality. This discussion keeps going in circles because people keep ASSUMING that taking this stance means lacking compassion or acceptance or embracing all into the fold. I personally don't see how the two ideas are equivalent or go hand-in-hand, and it seems like either black and white thinking, or someone doesn't want to admit that they might be wrong. I don't know. But it just doesn't add up, to me. And so it also almost seems as if the underlying implication is that Srila Prabhupada, who is so dear to the all-merciful Mahaprabhu, himself lacks compassion! If there is to be any value in this discussion. can't we all agree to move on from the useless and groundless accusations of heartlessness that some are being targeted with on this thread? And stick with what is the real topic? thanks, Jayaradhe

Oh good. What a relief!
-
Well you can see Srila Prabhupada standing beside that picture of the ship. And Mahaprabhu, well so far there is His spirit there but I will see what happens there. There is a torn piece of headline "Attack on America", and the Mt Rushmore four tumbling down the flood. There are some people chanting, including a Muslim woman in the group. thanks, JR

That about covers Alfred JR. I meant anything else besides Alf. (I have him ready now but don't want to put him where he stands out too much like the star so I'm waiting to see where he fits in. Kind of like me.)

I'm trying to get off this computer so I can work on the picture but as I don't have TV I have been following the news online, video clips and photo galleries too. My radio doesn't tune in so well. It's been like this for days now, since this all happened: trying to get away from the computer.

I love this vision and I see that this thread is also something of a word peace painting for world peace. Here are some other inputs for the canvas one (should have started on a much larger canvas it now seems). Dinadayadri prabhu wrote: "What I would like to see in your peace painting is the Sun and Moon rising simultaneously in the sky in their full-ray potency. I one time had a dream of this soon after attending the first Gaura Purnima festival in Mayapur in 1972. In the dream, all the people were running out of their houses and pointing at the sky at this never-before-seen phenomenon. All the nondevotees were screaming in terror, thinking that the world was coming to an end But all the devotees were ecstatically engaged in glorious Hari Nama Sankirtan because they understood the event was symbolic of the Sun and Moon of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and Lord Nityananda, Who appeared simultaneously for the purpose of destroying the blazing fire of material existence in the hearts of all living entities." Madhavi prabhu wrote: "How bout Lord Caitanya's mango tree Jayaradhe? I planted a mango pip just last nite, thinking of His mango tree passtime!" It seems like each idea that has come up could be a painting on its own, too. Anyway I hope all the moods, if not all the images, come across in the painting. Peace be with you. Jayaradhe

Darshan with Srila Bhakti Vaibhav Puri Maharaj
JRdd replied to atma's topic in Spiritual Discussions
This has been wonderful reporting, Atma! A thread I also hate to let go of. Maybe that tour site will continue with descriptions of the saga? I can see from these pastimes that Srila Puri Maharaj is a true peace ambassador. How fortunate, opportune, for America to have been graced with his presence at this time. (Strange that he departed when he did, too.) Reading all this I see how he is in a sense nondifferent from Srila Prabhupada as he carries his humble loving mood and also loves Srila Prabhupada so much. I feel as if, even by only reading about it, I have had some contact with my beloved guru. Thank you so much for sharing this nectar. ys, Jayaradhe -
Thanks, leyh! I consider it our painting not mine. Latest update is, due to the influence of Gauracandra, it's becoming quite a paste up job; I put in big butterflies, things tumbling down the river/flood, a Native American perring out of the dark, a sun and a moon, The Jaladuta at Boston harbor, the mahamantra, etc. etc., and Murali Manohara playing His flute with His Supreme Mona Lisa smile. May love of God inundate the world NOW. JR

How would Srila Prabhupada have reacted to the terrorist attacks?
JRdd replied to leyh's topic in Spiritual Discussions
Maybe I can help Sudevi. Just today I happened to be checking out half.com, which sells books for half price down to practically nothing, in conditions ranging from acceptable to like new, and saw several of those books there. Good luck in your search. ys, Jayaradhe PS Still holding that maha for you, just have to remember to go get your rmail address again in my inbox. -
Hare Krsna dasanudas, I too am stunned but just as I had to spend the evening making garlands when Srila Prabhupada left us, I felt compelled to put some of my feelings into this collage. Yes it is unfathomable, simply tragic. Which park? You mean Golden Gate? I can't make it the ten+plus hour trip. Even up here the churches are all holding prayer and meditation gatherings. My daughter and I did our own last night before Kanea. Since the world is opening their hearts to this horror, this is such a perfect time for the collective power of prayer to take place. Our intentions can avert war and spread love of God all over the panet. aspiring to be of service, Jayaradhe

I am very interested to see what anyone has to say about the following editorial by a Canadian. I gave this thread the same title the email had. FW: the United States.....a very interesting editorial > > > > THE UNITED STATES > > This, from a Canadian newspaper, is worth sharing. > > America: The Good Neighbor. > > Widespread but only partial news coverage was given recently to a remarkable editorial broadcast from Toronto by Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian television commentator. What follows is the full text of his trenchant remarks as printed in the Congressional Record: > > "This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the earth. > > Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts. None of these countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States. > > When France was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up, and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it. > > When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the United States that hurries in to help. This spring, 59 American communities were flattened by tornadoes. > > Nobody helped. > > The Marshall Plan and the Truman Policy pumped billions of dollars! into discouraged countries. Now newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent, warmongering Americans. > > I'd like to see just one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplane. Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tri-Star, or the Douglas DC10? > > If so, why don't they fly them? Why do all the International lines except Russia fly American Planes? > > Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or woman on the moon? You talk about Japanese technocracy, and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy, and you get automobiles. > > You talk about American technocracy, and you find men on the moon -! not once, but several times and safely home again. > > You talk about scandals, and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everybody to look at. > > Even their draft-dodgers are not pursued and hounded. They are here on our streets, and most of them, unless they are breaking Canadian laws, are getting American > dollars from ma and pa at home to spend here. > > When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both are still broke. > > I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I don't think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake. > > Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I'm one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one of those. > > "Stand proud, America! > > This is one of the best editorials that I have ever read regarding the United States. It is nice that one man realizes it. I only wish that the rest of the world would realize it. We are always blamed for everything and never even get a thank you for the things we do.I would hope that each of you would send this to as many people as you can and emphasize that they should send it to as many of their friends until this letter is sent to every person on the web. I am just a single American that has read this. > > I SURE HOPE THAT A LOT MORE READ IT SOON. > John Fernald > Principal Hardware Engineer > Cisco Systems, Inc. > Chelmsford, MA 01824 [This message has been edited by JRdd (edited 09-12-2001).]

Dear Talasiga, I have not been personally hurt by anything you have said. Peace, Jayaradhe
-
Dear dasanudas, well the disease is mutual, thanks! I will for now read with relish what you have to say here for I have been just hanging in here waiting for someoone like you to come in and speak the straight sauce or I mean the pure nectar. Dear Chris, I am sorry for being impatient, but my impatience was not with you. I stand aside for now and will focus on my Peace Painting today. If you or anyone else has any inputs I would like to hear. So far we have lots of water, for rebirth and regeneration and washing out the dirty stuff, collagey headlines, people from all ethnics gathered together with arms raised singing God's glories, hearts and flowers, a dove, and...? Mr das is an artist, of the heart and hands, maybe you have an idea to add. Pray for world peace and for people to take this wake up call for all it's worth. love, Jayaradhe

Personally I don't feel like posting here anymore as my words seem to fall on deaf ears. That's okay, no personal offense taken, I'm only telling what I have learned from my maha-bhagavat great spiritual master Srila Prabhupada. I just feel a little sad about it is all, but I also know that Krsna will lead the sincere hearts to the right places, and I feel you are among them and I wish you well, Chris. I remain from here-on-in as Observer, Jayaradhe

Well you pick arguments that don't exist dear friend, for you seem to assume that some are burying their heads in the sand; this based by you on evidence of their desires to chant or pray. Yes, at Cambodia times prayer increased no doubt, and may I say that as it is the nature of the conditioned soul to become easily, well, conditioned, or used to his or her environment and situations, their Tower gets shaken now and then by the Power behind the Tower, and this reminds us yet again of the immortality of this frame we have placed ourselves in, and reminds us of the urgency to spread the glories of Sri Nama far and wide before too many more among us die. So there is great sorrow but there is also great morrow if we make the most of it. And as for chanting, you must be well-versed in sabda brahma so perhaps can easily envision the rippling effect of even just one uttering of Nam on this planet, and the tree really does make a sound even if no one is there to hear it. I don't understand repeated contention-seeking when peace is so much easier. I myself prefer to find our common center than assume we have none. This isn't some competition or mundane wrangling we're trying to do here. This site was created for the purpose of sangha, engaging ourselves and each other in Krsna katha and okay sometimes exercising our ability to debate or see through a sticky issue, but to find faults where they are not relevant or evidently true is simply a waste of time and I think our clever minds and devotional hearts can come up with better things to do, don't you? best wishes on this day of reminders of our spiritual natures, Jayaradhe

Again thinking along the same lines, it is a painting but I thought of pasting in pictures but the headlines, yes, that's a good one. This could get very interesting! I will sketch it tomorrow and post it to give an idea of the payout, for more advice or changes, etc. Peace, Jayaradhe

Came to give latest update on the peace project. The canvas is now all covered with colour and I am ready to paint on top of that too, where need be. So far what we have is a large rushing river-like wave starting small and top right and filling most of the bottom front of the painting. There are suggestions of people with arms raised dancing at the top of the wave, where the water is coming down clean. The background (we are thinking along the same lines, GC; yes, not to make it just happy but show the contrast) is painted dark, in patches of blues and reds. There are leaves starting over in the left upper corner. The dove isn't there yet. Now someone has asked me to put in Lord Chaitanya's mango tree. She says: "That tree story reminds me of the way Prabhupada describes that the more the devotees distributed fruits from the storehouse of love of Godhead the more it was filled up, and also the stories of prasadam up to the neck..." thanks, JR

Thanks, got it, wrote it down. Dove, I will have to look for a picture of an olive branch. Water yes! An inundation! That can be the main theme with the devotees chanting. And yes of course all creeds, I actually almost finished a painting like that of many from all over the world, following the procession. This will be a worldwide Jagannath type party. I think the dove will stand out large, as if it is closer to the viewer. I can kind of see it, wish I could paint it but let's see what we do together. ys, Jayaradhe Great inputs!

I am starting a Peace Painting today, and invite your inputs. It will be a collagey type thing I think, and so far someone has suggested a harinam party dancing through the rubble. I want to put lots of flowers. any other ideas, bring them here. I don't care who you are. (not making promises about agreeing to the subject matter though) Jayaradhe
-
This is simply amazing, Krsnacandra prabhu, that all those people had contact with the Holy Names and the Vaisnava devotees such a short time ago! Krsna is so kind! I am starting a painting in a few minutes, a peace painting, and would like inputs now, wil keep chekcing here, of if you want me to paint something in it. Now is the time for us all, regardless of disagreements, come together for World Peace, however we can. So far the input I got was someone envisions a harinam party chanting through the rubble. Myself, I see a lot of flowers. This will be a hodgepodge or collage type painting. JR

I am not in New York talasiga, are you? And there is no way to get there either, even if I was physically able to do such a journey right now. You would rather I do nothing? A smile relieves a heart that grieves (in the words of Mick) A stitch in two saves nine but bandaids neither patch the heart nor reach the soul and though neither shall we neglect Harinam goes beyond respect One wonders why the bard picks at nits like a dignified monkey (in Vrindaban ) Perhaps he flows with yuga times but now is time to chant-- Tell me, what are YOU doing? I am about to start a Peace Painting (yes, I believe art plays a strong part too, besides, relief work and chanting, silly me, thinking culture is important in society) and would like feedback. If anyone wants me to paint something for them in it let me know. JR
-
Not condemning you prabhu. Just saying how Ii feel, just as you are. JR
-
Honey, this passes over some heads like a 747. Why do you try? All glories to Srila Prabhupada, our loving and liberal acharya. JR P.S. Why don't we all chant and pray extra today?

Well if self-reflection is indeed in orer here, prabhu Valaya, then maybe you should scroll back and look at your post previous to this latest one. At least MC is direct. Peace, Jayaradhe
