  1. There is nothing wrong with Dharti Mata, I think the main problems lie with her sons. spaces provided for cultivation are sufficient; capital needed is sufficient; labour required is sufficient; I'm wondering what can be wrong with Mother Earth? On the other hand, from the sons part, what are not sufficient:- 1. insatiable greed 2. lust 3. the need for more possessions 4. the list is too long and still I'm optimistic... Mother earth still has some good sons.
  2. Ok, I'll try my best. But I would like to know what exactly is your matter of concern regarding the friendship with Todar Mal, so that i can focus my investigation.
  3. For Him everyone was his friend, even those who despised him else he wouldn't have become the author of the Hanuman Chalisa.
  4. Srimad Bhagvatam tell us a similar story concerning Maharaj Prthu.
  5. What you should know is the proper definition of Duty. Remember there are many types of action. That what has been described by Krishna in " 47 : ...let not the fruits of action be thy motive" is Akarma. And the example that you've given, i.e., " So say I'm in college and I'm studying for a test.. I shouldnt care whether my effort will give me a good grade on the test?" definately outlines KARMA MIMAMSA. Coming to your example, I may ask you 1 question: What guarantee can you give me that the result is always +ve even if the biggest effort is given. Success or failure does not depend on us. The best thing you can do is to carry your duty expertly without any attachment and of course directed to The speaker of the Bhagvad Gita. I know its a bit wavy but you can do some research work on the term Svadharma.
  6. Joh Hari Ka Bhaje So Hari Ka Hoy... (Kabir Das)
  7. Yes, you are right. But these were not the points that I wanted to outline. All the things that you've pointed out, happen at the initital stage of the self realisation quest. My focal point was post self-realisation.
  8. The critical step is to come out with flying colors for your exams. No one can help you concerning Hinduism if you don't have any focal point because it's really vast. The only logical solution that I can suggest is that you get a copy of Hinduism Syllabus and focus on it, learning materials are easily available via library, net etc. And if you want to discover the Deep rooted riches of Hinduism then it's a different story. You can try Gita Press in the Beginning and when the environment start to become familiar then you can switch to Bhagvad Gita as it is.
  9. If this kartavya is with respect with Krishna then automatically it becomes Bhakti... and so there is no scope to draw any line of demarcation and the same Karvayva is known as Svadharma, that Arjuna practiced with his heart and soul. Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita, there is no difference in the path of a Bhakti Yogi and Karma Yogi (when results are directed to Krishna).
  10. It's a good start but any decision that You'll take should be only after listening to Krishna completely via the Divine Song.
  11. All the scene concerning Bhishma Pitamaha and Mahatma Vidura. And also, when Shakuni Mama told Duryodhana to appoint Bhishma Pitamaha as sena pati with the intention that none of the Pandava have the courage to harm the Grand Sire due to intense affection for Him and Shakuni Mama also pointed out saying, "what lecture can this cowherd boy give to the Pandavas, so that he can raise weapons against The Mahajana." ..........and it's then only the world came to know about the Celestial song.
  12. No line of demarcation should be drawn between spiritual and material life. Till you'll not find yourself at peace in any kind of situation, there is no scope for Renunciation.
  13. So many tongue-twisting equations.
  14. Long but interesting... Thanks.
  15. Correct me if I'm wrong... What I came to know is that the Great Bhakt Haridas Thakur was buried by the hands of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, if it is so then anyways will do.
  16. Neither of them... but due to ignorance.
  17. The vision of this material world depends on the eye of beholder,i.e, according to the level of consciousness that the particular individual possess. For e.g., a materialist will find it a place for enjoyment; for a Tapasvi, it will be a place for sacrifice and for a devotee a place for Hari's seva etc We cannot generalise it, because it was created for all these different purposes... I'll let the different people of different consciousness decide for themselves how they'll like Dharti Mata to be. However the ideal would have been, a place for Devotion.
  18. ...and most importantly by the Grace of the Guru and Sriman Narayan.
  19. The principle Trade Mark of Vaishnavism is NOT about confronting or get confronted with/by other religions. As a matter of fact, it's about harmonising all religions. All that I've said comes not with Gyan but with ViGyan.
  20. My Karma will decide for that.
  21. Glad to hear that. But it would have been even better if we would have shared the same love that he has for his father. But that's another story.
  22. All I know is that he's one of beloved son of God.
  23. Well, the amount invested is not really a concern when provided the return on investment is still higher; and if billions can be invested on movies like Matrix, Titanic and others and why not for spiritual purpose. And concerning clean water, proper nutrition etc.., that is an issue for food for the body and not food for the soul. And if you wanted to outline about the opportunity cost of spiritual investment then also you need not worry because proper utilization of resources (with respect to basic human necessities ) can only happen when the term Svadharma becomes clear to the individual. And also humility and simplicity are the by-products of spirituality and if there is no initiated investment, we cannot even think about them. Last but not the least, any judgement is done by considering the 3 factors, the object itself, time and circumstance. We need technology to infuse spiritual culture to the upcoming generations.
