Oh please, let us not use every person who asks such a question to put down Krishna and glorify the Bible. Actually, I am wondering why so many Christians (using term loosly) are allowed to stay here when their goal is to make Vaisnava aparadha (offenses) over and over. Anyway, the Bible has been tampered with repeatedly and that is not hard to prove. Its easy to prove. Very easy. So lets not go there, and I hope some other devotees will respond to Angekela specific question and that fundamental Xtians will not, once again, use a thread on these boards to start more flame wars and offenses to Lord Sri Krishna. To even suggest that this is demigod worsihp shows how little anyone knows about it.

I only have a few minutes, but basically the most important things to do is avoid hot spices because even if you can handle them, they burn the baby in the womb. Avoid sour or bitter foods for same or similar reasons. Eat good amounts of calcium foods which, in addition to milk (liquid religiousity), it is within certain greens and beans. Oh yes, and lots of beans! :-) Vegetarian protein is easier to digest. Avoid soy. Not only can it effect your thyroid (its not uncommon for women to get a temporary case of hypothyroidism after birthing a child), but also the unborn child can be effected by it, and some have been born with thyroid troubles. That is why it has been taken out of baby forumal. Take a multi vitamin and multi mineral pill daily, from a good company or health food store. My favorite is Rainbow Light. Can't think of much else at the moment. Good luck!

Oh, no, not at all. You're just learning as you go. Join the crowd. We all learn from each other. :-)

Angekela, I found where I posted my links, so have copied (even my long descriptions ha), and posted here. --- Christ & Krishna #1 Jesus/Guru, Pictures section (which has NO pictures, sorry) is the topic - Did Jesus wear Vaisnava tilaka?, The Lost Years (Jesus went to India in his youth), Bible is mistranslated, vegetarianism/misc in the Bible, Talks between Srila Prabhupada & Father Emmanuel, "In My Name Only" (& other misc misunderstandings like bread to fish story, the cry from the cross (he never did it), Church alterations, the last supper), Perfect Questions/Perfect Answers, Conv w/Cardinal Danielou & Srila Prabhupada, etc. http://www.geocities.com/priitaa/christ_and_krishna Christ and Krishna, Part 2 – Aquarian Gospel Explains the "Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ" that wouldn't be understood without Prabhupada's books. These excerpts better clarify Jesus at the Ratha Yatra festival, Jesus and the Deity of Lord Jagannatha/Krishna, he debunks the (kali yuga) caste system and any unqualified priests who follow it. Reveals how he learned to heal, his travels in India, etc. Additionally, excerpt from a recent letter by a devotee validating Christ was at the Jagannatha Puri temple, India, Reincarnation in the Bible, 2nd Council of Constantinople Bible changes dates back to 553 A.D. Thank you Govindaram, Glad you liked it. Yes, that is the idea, so the Christians can read, and see the connection between Jesus and Krishna. But how to provide it to them, I only know of registering it on search enginnes, and have done that.

Well, for myself, I did a lot of investigation. I was not born into my religion, I chose it. It had to make sense to me and it could not contradict things that were overall religious. (Things that applied to any religion.) I suggest that you do some research, possibly some comparative religious studies. I have put up a web page on Jesus and Krishna, which includes info how Jesus traveled and preached in every country, including Iraq and Afganisthan. Moslems believe in Jesus just as strongly as Christians but a little differently as he is not their main prophet. Nevertheless, he is sitll a prophet. I was told this by a Muslim. Anyway, my sites show Christ's teachings having a significant connection to India, and how he ultimately ended up living there. Personally I find total harmony with all the religions that you mentioned, or basically with all religions. And I KNOW Krishna is God. But I could give you tons of Sanskrit, where someone else could give you plenty of Aramic texts, and someone else, others. And thats fine. But I am getting tired :-) and much of that is all ready on my site. Ultimately its up to you. There generally are not quick answers. We gotta work for it. /images/graemlins/smile.gif If you want my link, today I posted it under another thread and don't want to be posting it all over the place at one time. :-) But I also forget the title of the thread its under now. If you can't find it, and if you want the url, let me know and I will go get the addy from my files and repost here.

I can't help you music wise (tho I am sure others here can), but I have a devotional web site which I put together shortly after George left this world. Sort of a tribute to him, and good for us too, cuz so few out there really know details about his devotional side. Anyhow, if interested, here is the url: http://www.geocities.com/priitaa/InspNewsL/fortysix.htm Hope you like it! /images/graemlins/smile.gif P.S. to others who knew her: I still find it a little difficult or odd to read posts by JayaRadhe. Wonder if anyone else does.

Oh my gosh prabhu, this woman and I use to go at it regularly, because she is not the least bit humble and has such deep envy for Srila Prabhupada! SHE wants to be the guru. Did you know she has students? Once she mentioned it, so I said, "Oh, you have students." She became so proud. I made some comment in return but I forget what it is now. Nevertheless, she is on a mission to knock down Prabhupada as well as his entire movement. I too have said someone needs to do something about her, but no one does! I could not do it alone at the time, and can't get into it now at this time. I do hope, however, you find someone to help you with this if still into it. Or that someone out there just starts doing it. As she is saying horrible, offensive things. She even told me she met Prabhupada and that he was nice, but only ordinary man. How the heck would she know? She is so puffed up, coupled with fault finder, Krishna Himself could stand before her and she would only see an ordinary man! But this is the nonsense she has been spreading around the net for years. My encounter with her was sometime in the late 90s, and she was all ready going at it big time. And now 03, she still is on her mission to make us loose credibility. Thats what its all about, trying to discredit us. And I think she has some influence at least in the Hindu community, and with some New Agers who might otherwise want to hear higher truths than she has to offer. Ok, thats my two cents on this. I agree with you something needs to be done about her, possibly a few devotees to organize and follow her around the net and defeat her countless offensive posts about Prabhupada, but no one wants to do it, and I all ready paid my dues. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

The Hare Krishna devotees, such as myself, believe that Krishna is the One Supreme God, Buddha is an incarnation of Krishna who advented to stop meat eating in the name of the Vedas, and Mohammed was sent by Krishna to preach to an assigned group of people and elevate them so in time they could come to the level of accepting Krishna consciousness. Jesus too fits in this (last) category. And that's the short answer. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Bhaktavasya, thank you for sharing that story. Quite captivating. I know a devotee who I guess I should leave unnamed for now anyway, but she told me personally an incredible story how Lord NrsimhaDeva saved the life of one of her unborn twins. Since it was such an incredible story, I asked her to tell it to me again years later, just to make sure I hadn't misunderstood. And I hadn't. But years have passed and I again dont recall details, so don't want to write what I dont remember. (Devotees really need to put a book together on these things!) Anway, what she told me was that she was in labor with her twins, and one was dying. It was not "iffy." Not maybe it will die, maybe it wont. The baby was clearly dying. She started to pray, and suddenly had a vision (yes, thats what I said, and she said, and she's not the crazy type at all!) of Lord Nrsimhadeva. From this vision she knew that the baby who was dying would be protected by Him, and therefore live. And it did. And that baby (a girl) is now grown and married.

More good advice! Thank you. Devotees are the place to look. I feel sorry for Guest. It sounded like she (?) is getting some help now.

WOW That's such a good idea! And great advice! I think I'm gonna save that to hard drive somewhere. Thanks!

Jesus in Kashmir, Mary in Pakistan!!
Priitaa replied to abhi_the_great's topic in The Hinduism Forum
xxvvii, I can't tell if you are interested in the truth, or attached to something you all ready believe. If you want proof of the shroud (which is not what I base everything I say on, by the way), I can give you a site to prove it. But if you want to look at that site under the pretense of wanting the facts, but really looking to prove here, and to yourself, its what you said all along, and thus maintain what you believe at all costs, then no sense going any father with this. And please dont misunderstand, I am not being disrespectful or mean mouthed to you, I intend this in the best way. Simply I have had experiences on this forum where someone pretends they want to hear or see something but they are not being honest with me. Unfortunately it now comes down the line to you. -

There's a time to be tolerant, and a time it would be maya to be tolerant. Especially if their children are picking on yours. However, at a certain point it is even an insult to Srila Prabhupada, so you can't let them do that. Of course, you dont want to go from one extrme to the other. I can't say exactly what you should do, but from guru to children, and even self/soul, this should not be tolerated. Its one thing to walk down the street and someone makes fun. Its another when its your next door neighbor. I remember when I lived in the Portland temple, the neighbor directly nearby hated us. I don't recall the details now, but I clearly remember they did all sorts of mean things, from making sure they bar-b-q'd dead cow during our Sunday feasts near our fence, to much worse, some bordered on illegal. The devotees tolerated and tolerated. Then one day this one devotee who had a very quiet nature but also had inner strength, was outside watering the roses. Again, I forget what triggered this, but the neighbor did or said something wrong. The deovtee was fed up. She took the hose and turned it on them, full force. LOL /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif Interestingly, they never called the police (after all, they had a long list of unlawful things they did to us too, and much worse). All the devotees chuckled. We got to experience a little relief. (Many had to walk past their house regularly to get to the temple.) Oddly enough, these neighbors backed off a bit! Not totally, but it showed. Sometimes people dont respect those who don't put up boundaries. They think it means we are wimps. But dont do what she did. ha We were lucky, you may end up otherwise. However, what your neighbors are doing is illegal and you might want to document (write down on file cards with dates) anything they did that fits under the category of 'harrassment' and anything else at all. Better yet would be if there was a mediator, but thats unlikely to happen. Again, I can't say what the solution would be here, but I do know that those who think we are weird have their own set of fundamental 'mentall' issues, and it does them a favor to set up boundaries. And yes, be considerate with your music, if you rise early be a good neighbor, etc. But I got the impression you do all these things. As far as changing the clothes we wear, maybe its part of my training to preach, but I wear whatever I put on for that day, and if someone doesn't like it, let them move to a communistic country. ha Wearing devotional clothing in public is a form of preaching. However, if a devotee is not strong or not comfortable enough to do like this, and becomes too insulted when wearing them outside, etc., it's ok to wear regular clothing. We all must do whats best for our soul. Sometimes I 'make sure' to wear nondevotee clothes is going to a dentist for example. I want good care! :-)

Anything which can be done in an hour they drag on for years
Priitaa replied to a topic in Spiritual Discussions
This is an interesting test, and helpful, but I'm not so sure that answers which come in the form of numbers are always the best way to go, or that the test would work for devotees often enough. For example: " 6. In conducting my activities, I do not consider traditional wisdom." Much of what Prabhupada taught us is contradictory to traditional 'wisdom.' Such as, giving women gayatri and thread and making them priests, and there is more. or "21. I am constantly dissatisfied with my position in life." Those who chant Hare Krishna, this mantrra also means to have all material happiness taken away. So it is not uncommon to find very good natured devotees who are very unhappy with their position in life, which has less to do with materialism and more to do with the touch of Krishna's, or Srimati Radharani's hand in their life. "1. I am straightforward in my dealings with other people." Many devotees have long ago learned, due to either religious prejudice, things that happened out on sankirtana, or even with other deovtees who were not so honest, that when dealing with a dishonest person, do not reveal your mind! "10. I am good at using willpower to achieve goals." And we know many a temple president or other 'authority' who did so! hehe However, other points could certianly help devotees: "8. I usually feel discontented with life." Alot of devotees feel this way. For some, it can be impersonalism (especially temple devotees, tho its not that if one is a temple devotee they 'must' be acting this way. No.) Others just have emotional issues they never looked at and often dont want to, but its stemming over into their daily life and they dont know why life is so unworkable. This does not make them a bad devotee, just bad at relationships. "23. When things are tough, I often bail out." This is a common problem, from temple authorities to relationships. "33. I often feel fearful." Many devotees experience fear when they are in maya. In that case, this would be a good thing, as long as its not immobolizing or damaging. "55. I often act violently towards others." Now thats a big one devotees should start looking at. Especially with all the woman and child abuse, but men also abuse men! Or bully them, rank and pecking order. I remember one 'teacher' from another country who came to america, was not getting along with this Indian young man, and he hated him so much he physically attacked him! So it goes on with men too. We need to turn inward and start asking 'why the violence?' Of course, I know, and you probably know, but when a person is violent, they generally are oblivious at the time. I didn't mean to tear all you wrote apart and was just haivng a little fun. /images/graemlins/smile.gif I think its a good test in general. Just some things fit the devotee, and others don't. -
shiva, I appreciate this. Especially because I actually started with the very same link from the thread: "Did the Hindus Help Write the Bible." Tho I found it interesting and contained many 'possibilities,' it still left too many questions unanswered. So these extra links you have provided have given me a direction to investigate. Thakns.
