  1. Allergies are almost always connected to adrenal weakness. Strengthen the adrenals. Ginseng, for example. And certain vitamins and minerals, aminos. This is an important point I nearly left out. Treat the adrenals. Though do make sure this applies to you individually. YS, Prtha dd
  2. Regarding Jesus as the only way, those who translated those words in an unbiased manner revealed they translate as one has to follow his method, not that 'he' is the only way, but his method of doing things (like chanting Gods names!). Proper translation is everything, as we all know in the Hare Krishna movement first hand. And fundamental Christians aren't going to tell it the way Christ actually told it. By the way, Christ did not speak Greek, but Aramic. Yet we depend upon Greek-to-English Bibles. I agree that we do not need to Veda-ize all religions. I also feel of the bonafide religions out there (as there are many which are not), that Krishna sent His representative to preach according to time, place and circumstance. This gently elevated the people in general so in time they would come to direct Krishna Consciousness. Though I believe our focus should be on consciousness of Krishna now that we have finally arrived! However, there is always a natural curiosity, and for this reason I post the following link (from these boards) which IMHO, answers a lot of questions: http://www.audarya-fellowship.com/showflat/cat/hinduism/37816/6/collapsed/5/o/1 YS, Priitaa
  3. I don't know that we can speculate on Krisna's mind, but we all know that Prabhupada minded it and was very strict that no one could be doing this and be initiated. Get high and take next birth as a roach or ant or something that karmically it is ok to get high. (Ants get high off sugar.) YS, Prtha dd
  4. I agree with you, Govindaram, in the sense that food is not the only point to consider, and that touching the face can cause the problem. However, I would not say all this talk of food is not good. Food has a scientifically proven relationship to skin problems. YS, Prtha dd
  5. ManuSamhita is not for this age. I know personally one devotee who got into ManuSamhita and Prabhupada wrote him in a letter that if he did not give this up, he would fall down. That in this age it is impossible to practice correclty all the things in ManuSamhita. Therefore certainly the killing of an animal for our tongue would no longer be done correctly these days. Though it is true that in former ages the sacrifice of an animal was for the good of the animal, and not for the purpose of eating meat. However, these were potent priests who could put the body of an old cow into the sacrificial fire and bring it out with a new body. First someone should show they can do that before they think its ok to eat meat. :-) In the age of kali it is the chanting of Hare Krishna that is our saving grace - kalau nasty eva nasty eva nasty eva, gatir anyatha: "In this age of quarrel and hypocrisy the only means of deliverance is the chanting of the holy names of the Lord. There is no other way, there is no other way, there is no other way." ~ TLC 18 Of course, if you eat meat and are attached to it, this debate could go on forever, in which case I dont want to do that. Good luck! YS, Prtha dd

  7. Oh my, more "symptoms" of hypothyroidism. But until I hear from you, I can only make an educated guess. Anyhow, if you eat sugar often and have weight problem you could be causing a form of insulin resistance. That in turn will make extremely difficult to loose weight. It can also indicate that if the hormone "insulin" is off, or even just resistant, so is the thyroid hormone uptake, even if you take meds! Well, that ought to motivate you to give up sugar. And by the way, white flour turns to sugar in the body real fast! ha So there ya go, more motivation. :-) However, beyond intellectual motivation is... you can't just toss the whole thing out or you will just return to the store to buy more, even stock up. You need to replace a bad habit with a good one. So try to figure out what you would enjoy eating instead of sugar. Nothing will be as good as sugar, but there are veggie foods that are still good tasting you can eat in its place. By the way, I suggest protein because often we get hungry due to a lack of protein, or a difficulty with it getting thru (you can be eating plenty but if colon, etc., is clogged, you are still protein deficient. And meat often clogs in this way). You also need to see if there are any emotinal reasons you are eating sugar. If not, then repace it with a healthier food is all. Just ideas and humble suggestions which could be wrong and are only based on your posts so far. Wishing you well. Hare Krishna. YS, Priitaa
  8. I am speculating here, but it sounds like you have Hypothyroidism? If so, you are right, avoid soy! It blocks the uptake of the thyroid hormone, which in turn will cause you to gain more weight. So, you cant eat tofu, or not much. Maybe a 1/4 cup once or twice a week. Better to just go for the beans. Hypothyroidism requires a lot of protein because that is what the thyroid hormone is made out of, but meat protein is so hard to digest that it is most likely be more difficult to turn into T 4 and especially T3. Without the proper conversion of T4 to T3, there is going to be weight gain. So go veggie! :-) GERD is common in hypothyroid patience. It is often H. Pylori and if it won't go away, thats usually it and requires an antibitoic in most cases. (Take lots of acidopholis with any antibiotic to replace the good stuff it kills.) I would need to know if you have this disease or not before I post anything more. Otherwise I am just speculating at tihs point. Regardless, I hope something I said helps. YS, Prtha dd
  9. If you still have it, as you describe 'red blemishes,' this is suggestive of a Pitta condition. Check that out, and avoid eating hot salty foods for starters. More detail is needed from Ayurveda tho. With that said, try MSM. It is "reputed" to gradually get rid of scars. I can't say but I do know it creates soft skin. But start with low dose, as it may initially hurt the stomach. If it does, skip a day or two, then lower the dose further, and try it again. Usually best to start with 500 mgs and slowly build up, but I am no doctor and claim ALL DISCLAIMERS. Oh yes, its also good for liver, and problems with liver are often related to problems with skin. Hope something helps. YS, Priitaa P.S. I haven't a clue what a "Knock on" effect is. Does anyone else?
  10. And Lord Shiva is the greatest Vaisnava or devotee of Lord Vishnu. YS, Prtha dd
  11. Bill, Thiest has given you a wonderful reply! I just wanted to add, maybe you would be interested in our thread called, "What Do Hare Krishna Devotees Believe about Christ?" Here is the link if it has gotten burried: http://www.audarya-fellowship.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=hinduism&Number=37816&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1&vc=1 Would love to hear what you have to think about it all, tho there is a lot and will take some reading and time. :-) Anyway, its all good. YS, Priitaa
  12. Thiest, I understand what you mean. At first I wasn't too fond of the idea. We have all been taught a certain idea about him and it brings a sense of security, or maybe just for me. But even in Kashmir, where Prabhupada said Jesus went and lived the rest of his life, there was a PBS show years ago of people who claimed they were descendents of Jesus. Everyone in the area knew it too. I also read because Jesus was not a pauper but the opposite, and held a high position, it was his responsibility to make sure his blood line continued. Part of Jewish tradition. Householder life was different than compared to now. Often, they didn't even live with their spouse much, or at least not the hihger class. In the Vedic system too we see the women had separate quarters from the men. Anyway, read the link and think it over. I can't say I have decided 100% about this, but so far there seems to be worhwhile evidence to support it. YS, Prtha dd
  13. Haribol prabhus, Here is an interesting web site that came my way. On it they claim Jesus married and had children. Personally, this would not bother me in the least. I don't find it to reduce his status of pure devotee in any way. After all, look at Bhaktivinode Thakura. But the (fundamentalist) Christians may have a hard time with it. It really takes reading all three pages to get the gist of it, as Jesus followed Jewish law quite strictly! And they are complex. The language barrier doesn't help much either. But this author explains it. After reading it, I would love to hear what the devotees opinions are. If you wish. Thanks. http://www.aquavitic.freeserve.co.uk/lighter/hg1.html YS, Prtha dd
  14. Be careful. Many are allergic to this and dont know it! The reason is that it doesn't give typical 'reactions' such as rash on tongue, etc., but instead a person gets a yucky feeling, often a problem with digesting it BUT not always. Its bad for diabetes or related. Is high in natural sugar that is damaging to many. Some have celiac disease and also don't know it. This is one food that irriates it. I don't have time to get into this but am concerned, so for those who would like to learn more on this topic, do a search and check out: http://www.celiac.com YS, Priitaa dd YS, Prtha dd
  15. Haribol, First allow me to commend you on your serious interest in developing love of Krishna! That alone will save you from many problems. Now, when it comes to healing someone else, while there are things you can do to encourage them, ultiamately it is their choice. I suppose I would need more information before I could give good advice because it would depend on whether you are the child or spouse or roomate or friend, etc. But basically, you can tell them how you feel about their drinking, then if they are actually alcohoics, leave some 12 step pamphlets around the house. Even that, they may be too sensitive to. One problem we have all had as new devotees, tho its somewhat of a good problem but needs to be kept in check, is that due to our initial overzealousness, we blow people away. ha So, my suggestion wouud be NOT to mention Krishna or God or religion at all, in case they get mad and start to take it out on Him. If you know they won't get mad, thats different, but too often we end up labeled "fanatics." Its true tho, that you need better association. I would suggest starting small steps toward what you can do to become independent of those who aren't interested in Bhakti Yoga, and until that can be achieved, change you life in a way that is better for you. Such as, change your schedule so you will be around them less, spend more time in your speace or room, etc. and less with them, go to the library instead of hanging out with them, etc. You don't want to hurt their feelings tho. This must all be done with much care. And the bottom line is that what works to resolve this problem with one person may not work for another. Therefore it is good you asked here. That way many can give you a variety of advice. From that, you can select which best suits you as well as your individual situation. In the meantime, chant Hare Krishna and be happy! :-) YS, Prtha dd
  16. Thank you prabhu. I wish it were in the folio so I could use dates, etc., but oh well, this is good. YS, Prtha dd
  17. Thanks prabhu. Especially if you can find a date or locale of conversation. This is a very good story beause we always hear how we should not donate to unworthy causes as they misuse the money, and other reasons. This probably would still hold true but it needs to be balanced, and sane. I had always thought it made us look like hard hearted cheap skates when we didn't give a little something to one in need, tho I simultaneously agree we shouldn't give them money to buy meat. Its hard to know where to draw the line, but the story was in India, so maybe the person was a vegetarian. Maybe. YS, Prtha dd
  18. Wonderful story! Thakn you for sharing it. YS, Prtha dd
  19. Mahaksa prabhu, please don't go back to your read only mode! You have much good info, and besides, I have some questions. :-) I had also read that Jesus came from a very wealthy family, similar to kingly, and that this is one reason he could travel so freely for preaching purposes. He could afford it. A godsister once told me that the Three Wise Men with their gifts did not really arrive until Jesus was a toddler, maybe 2 or 3 years of age. I never knew Pilate's wife was Christs follower, but am not surprised either, as I read that Pilate did everything he could to stop the crucifixion, so at the least, I understood him to be favorable and possibly more. There is even a quote from Prabhuapada somewhere, and I put it on one of my sites, suggesting this. That is, he never mentions him by name, but by position. Who is this? I was under the impression that Herod was the guy pushing for crucifixion, and many MANY Jewish rabbi's as well. Who or what are Sanhedrin? Regarding Peter, this would not surprise me, as I read one of Christ's disciples (and I "think" it said Peter) was jealous of Mary Magdaline. Though I read that by others of the times, she was given a post similar to that of Queen, and was highly respected. So maybe he took it that extra mile and downright hated her. Though am startled to read that Paul actually murdered the followers of James and Thomas! If you have any info on that, would be interested to read it. I have read, repeatedly, that Paul changed Christ's teachings, his very words, in order to convert others. That he extremely lowered the standards. But it seems he may have also done it for political reasons. Sad. I once heard that the Biblical verse that says "take my yoke," that Christs original words were "take my yoga." Does anyone have evidence of this? Thanks for your wonderful post. Glad you liked my web site. I still need to work on it, to update it, tho am realizing that may be an ongoing service. YS, Prtha dd
  20. Would NOT bring up to them, would NOT. Me and my typos! :-) YS, Prtha dd
  21. Haribol Thiest, I suspect there is some misunderstanding of my original post. It was not a recent post I replied to but from the very beginning of the thread, so the topic may have been different than current ones. I had not read the current ones. I was under the impression that the poster was asking about Diskha and not Siksa. Yes, I agree initiation can take place in the heart. My concern is that I have seen many who claim they have a qualified guru and that they themselves are following, but aren't, yet think they are doing the same thing as those who have taken vows or dedicated thier lives to Srila Prabhupada. That's all. I agree any qualified individual or lineage is fine or that formal initiation takes place in the heart, etc., only that there is something ethereal or spiritual that takes place during initiation, something we can't feel or touch or see, thus even if initiation took place in the heart, it is often self evident by one who has genuinely considered themselves initiated. They would be living the lifestyle too, of a surrendered disciple. Hope this clears things up. YS, Priitaa
  22. WOW I never thought of it that way. Thank you! Sometimes I wonder if Christ is a bit of a shiksa guru over devotees, helping us to somehow or other preach, as well as to remain steady or keep on endeavoring in our Krishna consciousness. After all, we finally got his message, that God is a person and (his secret message), God's name is Krisna, so to chant Hare Krishna and be happy. Just my speculations. Might as well post my third and last site on Christ and Krishna because its a little different. (I realize folks can get there thru my other ones, but most don't click around.) On this third site I give evidence of Christ mentioned in various religious scriptures of the world, explain the 'real' Promised Lands, Christ living in Kashmir India, etc. I took some Shroud info from it and used that in a previous post, above. But there is more shroud info on there. And for those who say Prabhupada only spoke the way he did about Christ for political religious reasons, or whatever reasons, on this site I have a part of the MahaPurana's, specifically the Bhavaisya Purana. This was NOT translated by Prabhupada yet we see there is mention of Jesus there. So he was prophisized by the Vedas and not Prabhupada playing mind games, or political games, etc. http://www.geocities.com/priitaa108/christ_and_krishna_pt3.htm YS, Prtha dd
  23. Not sure if this is exactly the one I sw it in, but it runs a close second: I would agree that it is enough to know Jesus is a shaktyavesa avatar. Not sure if time matters, or am thinking about how it is linear and spiritual planets and spiritual people are not linear - can cross over time in the wink of an eye. ha Tho they also may not. For them its choice. Or an instruction they follow. Yes, sticking to Bhakti yoga will ultimately answer everything. Oh, Radha-Krishna lila, now that's something I would bring up to Christians either! YS, Prtha dd
  24. Haribol Thiest, Thank you for this quote. Wonderful! Yes, I understand what you mean that although this is a planet in the materal world (heavens), since satktyavesa avatara/Christ is there, it is Vaikuntha, or a type of Vaikuntha anyway. Tho various things have been said regarding where he came from and where he later went to. I read Prabhupada said he went to the Spiritual Sky, tho your point could be what he meant. Then again, not. <sigh> Guess there are no clear answers on this, but oh well, its a start. I am unsure if the rest of your letter was aimed at me or ummmm 'someone else,' so I won't say much. I think the only thing that crosses my mind is that if devotees didn't preach to me because I was a Christian, I wouldn't be here now! And that's a scary thought! Matter of fact, at least half the movement wouldn't be here if we didn't believe in preaching (clarification: sharing or talking) to Christians. Tho I do feel we should not shove anything down their throat, or anyone's for that matter. I suspect what you are referring to is that we should not preach to Christians who are completely closed to Krishna C and maybe would even become offensive if we did. That makes sense. But we can still give them prasadam! :-) YS, Prtha dd
  25. I want to take a little time to clarify my position on Jesus. First, I understand that most of us, when we hear the name "Jesus" or "Christ," our mind immediately returns to our days at Sunday School or church, or the Bible, etc. We are still somewhat contaminated by their mis-teachings of Christ's teachings, which they shoved down our throat. One of those mis-teachings is that they own Christ, that if one accepts Christ they are immediately a Christian. But no one owns pure devotees. No one owns satkyatavesha avataras. If I can be given just a little of your time, I hope to prove, or at least increase the possibility, that Jesus was a devotee of Lord Krishna. I would also like to point out that I only use the Bible when it agrees with Prabhupada. When it contradicts, I do not accept the Bible. I must start with the shroud. Now if folks don't believe the shroud is that of Christ, what I am about to say will be pointless to them. So here's some basic proof, then you're on your own. :-) Some insist the shroud was the cloth that covered the body of Christ when he was removed from the cross, while others insist it's a fake. More facts are needed. First and from the point of view of the Shroud as a fake or intended replica by a trickster, one must note that the Shroud is in 3-D. This is a very important point, because even if it were a replica, such a replication would have been made long ago, as the Shroud has been scientifically proven to be extremely old. Even the nonbelievers accept this. Therefore, with our all of our modern advancement in technology, our camera's only record light variations and intensities of reflected light, whereas the Shroud contains distance information within it. There is no camera or photograph having the ability to record distance from film to subject. Add to that, if someone were to try to paint a replica, it would be literally impossible. An artist always steps back from their canvas to view what they are doing, if it's turning out as desired, etc. This means removing oneself by one - two meters for accuracy. Since the image on the Shroud is revealed by standing a significant distance, an artist would require a paint brush that was abnormally long (cumbersome) AND the ability to hold it firm to paint very fine lines on cloth (not smooth canvas), as the Shroud contains distinct detail. Furthermore, 'album' has been scientifically proven in area's where scourge marks occurred, so our medieval trickster would need to include serum albumin as part of the paint, which only shows up under ultra-violet light, thus invisible paint. What to speak of the lack of medical, anatomical knowledge at the time. The Shroud is completely, medically accurate. --- The list goes on. Next, is it possible that, due to preconceived ideas the person of the Shroud was all ready dead, most (though not all) scientists have a problem with how the Shroud image was created? Therefore, this throws off their scientific data. (Please note, a dead body doesn't bleed!) Thirdly, we can note that the markings on the Shroud correspond to specific descriptions in the Bible about the beatings and persecution of Jesus Christ. Since Prabhupada said Christ survived the crucifixion and moved to Kashmir India, this gives the crucifixion credibility. What follows are summaries from examiners of STURP or "Shroud of Turin Research Project." Devotees who all ready believe it was Christs shroud may wish to skip this part & scroll down, as its rather sad and gory. BLOWS TO THE FACE - The Shroud reveals swelling under the right eye, swelling on right cheek, etc. The same as Biblical descriptions of the soldiers abuses upon Christ, bludgeoning his face. (Matthew 27.30) WHIP - The person in the Shroud had over 29 whip marks on the back and front of his body, some on the chest, but especially notable in the shoulder and back areas, indicating that this person was facing the column while being scourged. There are no marks on the forearms indicating that his arms were tied above him. The markings are characteristic of Roman flagrum - an instrument of torture, and it was a horrid instrument at that. Approximately 60 strokes from scourging (120 wounds) are visible on the Shroud. (Matthew 27:26) BLOODIED WHIP MARKINGS - At that time, one who was to be crucified had to carry their own cross to be crucified upon, causing the whippings to next become more bloodied. On the right shoulder of the Shroud there is blood from a wound of 10 x 9 cm. (Matthew.27:32) BLOODIED FRONT and BACK of HEAD - There is blood on the head area of the Shroud, especially on the front and back of the head, thus thorns. Remember, not all who underwent crucifixion wore thorns. This was specially made for Christ - to humiliate him. (Matthew 27:29) NAIL WOUNDS - While many think Christ had nails through his palms, it was later discovered he had them through his wrists. Makes sense, as nails through the hands would not be strong enough to hold one up and could cause ripping/breaking, then the person would fall off the cross. The Shroud has nail wounds (blood) spurting from the wrists area's. Three nails - one for each wrist and one nail through both feet - are blood stain evidence of the Shroud. (John 20:25) KNEES & LEGS - Both knees have wounds (from carryingg a cross?); the right one is worse. (Jesus fell three times before he reached Calvary.) The Shroud also shows knee damage similar to that of falling - as one would have after going limp when removed from a cross. However, there were no injuries found on the upper or lower legs of the person in the Shroud; also according to the Bible there were no injuries to Christ's legs. Which, by the way, was unusual. (John 19: 31-37) HEART & RIGHT SIDE- A thin line on the shroud shows where blood from the nail wound in the right hand flowed along the right arm when the hand was un-nailed. Dead, dry blood does not run. Thus, another piece of evidence that Christ's heart was still active when he was lowered from the cross. In addition, the Shroud provides further proof where the lance the Roman soldier used to test Jesus as dead. Stains of blood show the lance pierced the right side of the chest between the fifth and sixth rib of the Shroud, with blood marking on the Shroud at an angle of twenty-nine degrees, revealing an oval wound like a sword or lance would make. This means that the lance passed close to the heart but did not damage it, thus the "blood and water" John describes that flowed from the wound could not have come from the heart. However slightly, the heart was still beating! Had the lance pierced the left side, it would have struck the heart. But through the right, it missed it. The Bible describes a lance put through the right side of Christ. (John 19:34) The height of the person of the Shroud is 6 feet tall and he is of Jewish decent. -------- Moving on....... JESUS WAS A VAISNAVA * THE SHROUD HAD TILAKA! - Scientist Paul Vignan noticed in the Byzantine painting, a mosaic of the Holy Shroud of Turin, there is a "V" mark down the center of the forehead. Of course, this could be the artists perception. However, they were very strict followers of Christ and unlikely to concoct anything. But Mr Vignon had an opportunity most of us will never have. He was an official exmainer of the Shroud! Allow me to quote: "Researcher Paul Vignon, noticed "on the forehead between the eyebrows of this work a starkly geometrical |_| shape....When he turned to the equivalent point the Shroud face, there was the same feature, equally as geometric, and equally as unnatural because it appeared to have noting to do with the image itself.......... Ian Wilson, The Shroud of Turin - The Burial Cloth of Jesus Christ? (1978) "Artists have copied certain characteristic details, technically known as Vignon markings, after the scientist who analyzed fifteen of them, such as a transverse steak across the forehead of the Shroud image, a V-shape at the bridge of the nose, two curling stands of hair in the middle of the forehead, a hairless area between the lower lip and the beard, and so forth. In some of the earliest copies...as many as thirteen of the fifteen details are discernible." ~ Noel Currer-Briggs, The Shroud and the Grail - A Modern Quest for the True Grail (1987) * THE SHROUD HAD A SIKHA! That pretty much sums it up. There is a tuft of hair coming from the center back of the head from the Shroud that is longer than the rest. * JESUS TRAINED AS A BRAHMACARI IN JAGANNATHA PURI - I think many devotees all ready know this, but often they don't understand the A.G. (Aquarian Gospel), so I have explained it on my web page in Krishna Conscious terms. Regardless, we must not throw out the fact that Jesus was trained as a Vaisnava of Lord Jagannatha for years! AND Prabhupada has said Jesus was a student there! (Previously quoted.) One devotee wrote me the following email: "There are inscriptions on stone at the Jagannatha temple attesting to the presence of Jesus there. ... One Prabhupada devotee told me he personally saw these inscriptions." * CHRIST WAS A VEGETARIAN - While this doesn't exactly prove he was a Vaisnava, coupled with the rest it is very supportive, and especially it disproves the current King James, etc., Bibles that are being accepted as the original words of Jesus. They are not. Much has been changed. Anyone desiring to see some of those changes, especially about vegetarianism, let me know and I will post some here. However, why would a 12 year old boy freak out (for lack of a better word) when entering the temple and seeing the slaughter and sale of birds, if meat eating was a way of life for that child? He must have been a vegetarian! Prabhupada Quote: "It is said that Lord Jesus Christ, when twelve years old, was shocked to see the Jews sacrificing birds and animals in the synagogues and that he therefore rejected the Jewish system of religion and started the religious system of Christianity, adhering to the Old Testament commandment "Thou shalt not kill." ~ Srimad Bhagavatam, 7.15.10 P * SAKTYAVESHA AVATARS ARE EMPOWERED - No one can do what they do, and they often are big preachers. BIG preachers. Jesus did not preach only in the countries mentioned in the Bible. He went on traveling sankirtana :-) going from Israel/Jordan to Damsascus, then Nisbis also known as Naisibain which is slightly above Iraq. Next on to Iran, Herat Afganisthan, Pakistan/Taxila, Sringar and finally to Kashmir India where he settled down and lived out the rest of his life. And this is just a summary, probably leaving out the smaller palces. In any case, the average person can not travel all over and preach this widely! What to speak of how his life was threatened in more than one place, yet he continued to travel and preach. He *had* to be empowered. We must also understand that his specified mission as a Saktyavesha avatara may not be one that pleases OUR senses, because we all want him to preach about Krishna, myself included. But what would YOU do if Krishna gave you the instruction of preaching morals and goodness, gradual elevation, about God in general but NOT to preach about Him, or at least not openly or to all. After all, they tried to kill Jesus for the little bit he all ready said! IMHO I suspect Christ did tell his intimate disciples about Krishna. Some of the Byzantine paintings of his disciples also have tilaka! YS, Prtha dd
