  1. Thanks Thiest, Great find! While its not exactly what I was looking for, it was a good read. I had never read that one before, and I've found quite a few of them! Guess there are always more hiding somewhere. And some say (uh hum - clearing throat ha) Prabhupada only wrote a paragraph about Jesus. Not so. There is quite a lot to be fond in his writings that will be referred back to for the next 10,000 years. Also, Mohamad was a satyaktavesha avatara. There are many, they roam this planet, and help human beings come up to a level where they can eventually discover Krishna. Anyway, am getting off topic so thanks for your offer. If you find anything that reveals what planet Christ descended from, as well as what one he returned to, that would be great. But its ok if you can't find it. These things are not easily located. YS, Prtha dd
  2. So, are you stating that what Prabhupada said in the above quote by Thiest is wrong? Prabhupada is wrong and Christian Bible is correct? Please clarify. Thank you. YS, Prtha dd
  3. Haribol, It is wonderful to have been born into a family that knows Who God is. The requirement to take initiation does not become any lesser, except for those born in Vrndavana. Prabhupada did say those who took birth in Vrndavana do not need to take initiation because Krishna is their guru, but also that it does not apply to anyone else. Taking initiation is more than just being born in a family who teaches you God is Krishna, it is surrendering cent per cent to the pure deovtee spiritual master. It is washing toilets if he asks you to or dressing up clean and first class for a preaching engagement if he asks you to. Its about learning how to live with many others in the ashrama and finding our false ego is bigger than we thought! And its about getting up at 4 A.M., chanting all our 16 rounds before the sun rises, listening to class, etc., and then spending the rest of the day preaching or somehow or other absorbed in Krishna katha. It is about making an official maybe etherical connection to the spiriutal master for all of eternity. I know a devotee who was born in Vrndavana, India. Her name was Sunita. (She has since left her body.) She did not need to take initiation, but for whatever reason, she still did. Maybe because she previously had another guru and wanted to make sure she connected to Prabhupada 100%, tho this is total speculation on my part. But it is one concern I see with many who are Hindu, tho I do respect Hindus. However, in some cases there are other guru's on their altars from other lineages that we are not sure are pure devotees. Let me clarify, I have no problem with other gurus from other lineages, simply they must be qualified and most do not even know how to check for qualification. I know Prabhupada was very strict that we should not worship a guru who did not meet up to the standard and was not a pure devotee. Then there are other shastra read, and too often there is a difference in philosophy between Prabhupada's translations and therefore teachings teacihngs, and those of other 'authors' or even gurus. In any case, these are my understandings of Prabhupada's instruction on this matter - that everyone, with the exception of those born in Vrndavana - need to take spiritual initiation. I hope this helps answer your question. YS, Prtha dd
  4. Dear Prabhu, I am in hopes that there is some misunderstanding. Tho I will agree devotees should not become obsessed with this, but nor should we become disrespectful of a pure devotee who is not given the recognition he deserves as a Vaishnava due to the fact that he had a different mission and had to hide his true beliefs. As for the Bible, even the nondevotees know it has been severely tampered with. Not very many take it seriously anymore. Enough, but gradually its being revealed that man has tampered with it. Therefore we cannot speculate on what kind of God was originally being spoken of. As for the N.T., Jesus was a Vaishanva and so would only preasent a loving God. Anything else that is said is bogus. I do not accept that Prabhupada lied to us merely for (religious) political reasons. Especially when he spoke over and over and OVER about Jesus. AND he not only said it in lectures, but in our scriptures, which will go on for the next 10,000 years. I doubt he was lying in Vedic literature. Also, there are many quotes that prove the Bible has been changed. Words like "table" have been conveniently translated as "meat." And many others. I have no sentiment about the Bible, and have had to ask myself if I have sentiment over Christ. Here's a real quick test for devotees: If you can only choose one, Krishna or Christ, (or Prabhupada or Christ), which one ya gonna pick? I picked Krishna/Prabhupada, everytime, hands down! So other devotees can test themselves in this way if they are concerned with sentimentality. After that, preaching who Christ really was and is, can help bring others to Krishna consciousness! My research has convinced me that his original teachings are nothing like that which the current churches preach. Even they had to be strict vegetarians to call themselves a "Christian." Now the Christians say those who are vegetarians are Pagans. So lets show them who are the real Pagans, and preach the truth. In this way many will have their interest sparked in Krishna consciousness. And of those who don't, at least we will have a better world to live in! Here we are in agreement. I am wondering how you know what Jesus looked like? Where is your evidence or quotes? I have more to say on this but first would like to see if you know something I dont, in which case, please enlighten me! Prabhuapda DID say Jesus was a pure deovtee. He said many things about Christ. I must be honest and point out that it appears you are only giving power to the quotes you like, and not giving a balanced picture. I dont think anyone here is challenging if Lord Caitanya is more powerful or if Christ is more poweful, if Krishna is more powerful or if Christ is more powerful, if Prabhuapda is more powerful or Christ is more powerful. ETC.You get my point. I think we all agree Christ and Christianity are not the highest, but we also agree that Christ was a pure devoee, had a specific mission from Krishna Himself, and no one should make offenses to him. YS, Prtha dd
  5. Haribol Theist, You helped me once before to locate a letter for my web site. So now I am bothering you again. :-) Only if you can find this of course. Anyway, what you said above, I am currently preaching to someone who has asked me this very question. I have "heard" a variety of answers explaining what planet Christ descended from. But no proof. Here they are: 1-From Siddhaloka, a place in the heavens. 2-From DhruvaLoka, where he also returned. A genuinely good Christian will go there and from that place, Christ will preach to them about Krishna. 3-From the Spiritual World. I also read a quote where Prabhupada said Jesus returned to the Spriitual world. Can anyone out there give any proof/Prabhupada quotes, on any of these? Which one is true? Or a combination may be true? I really need quotes. They will also go onto my web page if they apply. Thanks! YS, Prtha dd
  6. Dear Bhaktavasya, PAMHO. AGTSP. I read with great sadness how your second son did not come out of it (the Schizophrenia) and something came to mind I felt I should share with you, or anyone else for that matter. I do not claim it is always the cause, just one that is often not known about. I also have not read the rest of the posts. I once took a book out of the library due to severe allergies. In it was one chapter giving a very convincing correlation between Schizophrenic attacks and various allergies. Now, this may sound too easy, and as I said, its not always the case. Though anyone who has had allergies knows it is not easy to find out EXACTLY what a person is allergic to. With that said, I mentioned this book to a frined of mine who also has a child with schizophrenia. Surprisingly she told me that when her child would get attacks, she noticed (with hindsight) it happened when around a mildewy, moldy basement, or bear the chemial chlorine or other chemicals, including some harsh laundry detergents, and household cleansers (Ajax would be one example). It can also include food to, or fabric, nearly about anything. Just, this is something to consider. I don't have the title of that book because as I mentioned, it was from the library. But I may be able to find it out, maybe, if anyone is interested. If this helps, it is an old book put out by PREVENTION or RODALE. Maybe it can be back ordered at their web site, tho the library is worth a try. Again, there are many reasons, be it karmic or whatever (and really, its all karmic, be it the disease, allergies or even cures or potential solution, even partial), but I am not going into the cause here. Just want to offer the little help I might have. YS, Prtha dd

  8. LOL LOL Even the movie industry has heard of it. ha It use to be an inside joke. I guess it got around. Actually, MGM use to be close to the LA temple. Within walking distance. I remmeber. And a bit beyond it was Universal Studio's if I'm not mistaken. But that was years ago and they have both moved now. But I think that's an old movie you mentioned, so it may have found its way to them. Sometimes devotees worked for them, like with art, etc. And as extras. Then there was that California air. ha Glad I moved. YS, Prtha dd
  9. You know what they say, if Jesus ever retruend, he'd go to the Hare Krishna temple! :-) Anyway, the Promised Land is not where most think it is. It's in Kashmir, India. (Bracing self for big debate. ha Not in the mood tho. Haribol.) YS, Prtha dd
  10. Thank you Thiest prabhu, I am going to put this letter from Prabhupada on my web page. It will be great for preaching, because when more and more see the connection between Christ and Jagannatha, other connections will also be made, and it can help bring around Lord Caitanya's movement! At least, thats my hope. YS, Prtha dd
  11. Forgive me, but I just could not let it go. It needs to be cleared up. First, I do not believe that slavery was supported by the Vedas, tho that's another topic, somewhat. As I understand it, Prabhupada is pointing out facts, that slavery is what happened in America, not that he is saying it is good America did it this way. Though he does say the black sudra's were causing disturbances, but there are white sudra's and they also cause distrubances. I am sure he would not omit them, they just were not the topic. So I next notice he points out no one bothered to train these black folks. They just threw them out into the world and said "good luck, you're gonna need it." So he would prefer they be trained properlly to become first class men. That was not available, so at least take care of them. But mostly here, he was showing that this is what came about, maybe even by nature, cuz the (very mundane) nature of man is to lord it over someone eventaully, (unless such persons become spiriutal of course), as the caste system tends to manifest even so-called naturally & in every single society, however inappropriately when people don't know the higher methods. (Though without a date reference, I don't know for certain Prabhupada said all this.) The reason Prabhupada opened temples and initiated black sanyasis IS because he does not believe in slavery and the material caste system, but in something much higher. Now, on to more of what Prabhuapda is saying here. A common misunderstanding many devotees have is the difference beteen VAD (varanasrama dharma) and the highest, most transcendeanl science of Krishna consciousness. They often mix one with the other. VAD is the caste system. Prabhupada said this. I have the quotes. :-) However, that was not on the top of his list. He did not come here to start VAD but to start transcendental Krishna consciousness. Now, to help some along, he sometimes would say to start a DIFFERENT 'type' of caste system, but he would simultaneously say we are not able to do it, that it is impossible for us to achieve. Anyway, that was secodary interest of his, not primary. But to elaborate, what kind of caste system was he talking about? Actually, what Prabhupada wanted was not really caste at all. It is different from what most readers think of as 'caste.' First, Prabhupada repeatedly states that ANYONE can elevate themselves to the highest level in what he is speaking about. No one is doomed to be a life-long sudra, for example. Next, when Prabhupada is speaking of controlling sudra's, we forget we are living in kali yuga and everyone is basically now a sudra, even if they dont like to admit it. :-) So what will they do who have this much control over someone? Exploit. Whereas in the real DIVINE varanashrama system, the persons "in charge" of sudra's were either pure devotees or running a close second. That is entirely different, and resulted in genuinely helping them. But in this day and age, most devotees can't handle maintaining the basics of their own life, what to speak of someone elses. Therefore, no one should think they have the right to control or supress anyone, regardless of birth or so-called caste or initiation. I could go on about this, as I have done through research on it, but will close for now. All I can say is Prabhupada is not thinking or speaking in the ways we are. Therefore sometimes his words appear one way to us, when he actually had something much higher in mind. And what was more important to him is that we all become Krishna conscious and go back to Home, back to Godhead. THAT was his mission. YS, Prtha dd
  12. I realize this is an old post, but I 'bumped' into it by accident, and that was good because it may offer something helpful in my research for my web page. Therefore I ask you, as I never before heard that Prabhupada boycotted this temple, do you know when it happened? Can you tell me more about this? Are there any quotes? Any info would be apprecicated. Thanks. YS, Prtha dd
  13. JayaRadhe sent me, via email, that photo too! Of the home altar she made from papermache! I couldnt believe how lovely it was. The colors were bright and stood out so nicely. She was sooooooooooo talented! An artist, for those who don't know. She painted first class pics of Krishna. Anyway, should anyone ever relocates the photo of her home altar, I sure would like to see it. Maybe it could be posted here, if found. YS, Prtha dd
  14. Oh, that's ok, Gh. At this point, I'm not sure which devotee belives what. ha Moslty, I am just trying to figure out what 'I' believe about who Jesus is. But you make a good point. Not to bicker to such extreme degrees but instead find something in common. YS, Prtha dd
  15. Ok. Only that when you say something is "wrong," that is different from saying it is "simple." But let's just say this clears it up. Thanks. YS, Prtha dd

  17. By the way, there is also mention of Jesus/Isa in the Bhavisya Purana, part of the Maha Purana. It's in Sanskrit. He says he came as the savior of the mlecca's. He says this over and over. He was clear on what his (difficult!) mission was. And they tried to kill him for it. Just see. Anyway, it is there, in our scrolls too. YS, Prtha dd

  20. I suppose one can never say 100% for certain that Jesus was a vegetarian, simply because we weren't there and can't ask him. Although im my opinion of approximately 98%, I believe he was. And even then, if he did eat meat, it was only in an emergency. Yet I suspect he was so mystical that such a problem never arose. He knew yoga. Besdies, when challenged on this point (that Jesus ate meat), Prabhupada said that Jesus can do that, he is powerful, "He can eat the whole world." :-) Prabhupada next said we are not to immitate and can't compare ourselves to Jesus, but must instead follow, because Christ has ordered: "tho shalt not kill." Anyway, for those who want to see some proof that Jesus was a vegetarian, Biblical word changes to make it say 'meat', he never distributed or ate that fish!, as well as other info (he may have worn tilaka!), etc, view my web page: http://www.geocities.com/priitaa/christ_and_krishna.htm YS, Prtha
  21. This is one of the best threads ever. Such transcendental nectar about our beloved Srila Prabhupada! And he always says something to give us genuine hope! How lucky we are. Thank you leyh, and please keep it up. Haribol. YS, Prtha dd
