Acutally there are several ideas Prabhupada gave on this 6 hour concept, and something in the back of my mind, a memory of something about -- a little more if necessary is all right. Sorry, no quote. I remember seeing zombie-like devotees (and I was one ha) who would only sleep 6 hours but needed more, whereas some were fully rested after slightly less. Mostly, you have to find how many hours your body requires for sufficient rest, and then do that, because if you are half asleep during saddhana or the rest of the day, your not giving it your all and could even wind up in a car accident, etc! But the trick here is to be honest within, and not try to go along with our mind when it tells you more is required but it actually wants to sleep in for sense grad. /images/graemlins/smile.gif Not hard to figure out tho, as its simply about honesty.

Thiest, Not sure if that was to me or the other poster, but from my point of view, I dont go after those who wont understand or would make offenses. I was referring to those Christians who come here to our message boards: we agree with them that Jesus is pure or whatever, then they turn around and slander Lord Krishna. I am kind of fried with that, and also think in a way, maybe we are egging them on unintentionally of course, but talking to the fundamentalist xtians on these boards appears to make them think they are making some progress converting us, until they find out otherwise and make offenses. Just an opinion, which can change.

There was never any controversy. Don't know where you are getting all that from. Repeatedly he uses the word "shaktyaveshavatara " in relationship to Christ. Over and over and over and over. If this is hard for you to accept, please own that, but there was never any controversy. If so, then show it to me and I will change my mind. I need to see a conversation or quote about said controversy regarding Christ's position as shaktyaveshavatara. And whoever is telling you Srila Prabhupada recognized Jesus as Vishnu-tattva had better supply a quote on that too, cuz he has never said such a thing. I would need proof, and I dont think there is any. Just some 'devotees' speculation, not Prabhupada's facts.

Good point Thiest! I agree with you there.

I think what bothers me is that we always show respect to Jesus Christ, shaktyaveshavatara, while most (not all but in general, most) Xtians show much disrespect and sometimes blasphemy to Krishna. We are quick, when we see a post against Jesus, to rush in and stick up for him, and I am no exception. But too many Xtians are quick to say horrible things about Lord Krishna, so I often wonder if there is a better way of dealing with this. Mostly tho, I am tired of the double standard where they get who they believe in honored, and we get who we believe in attacked.

L.E., Thank you for this. On a personal level I appreciate it. In general, I am not sure how I believe about prayer in public school, only becuase they focus on that prayer to be one of Christianity and not other faiths, certinaly not ours. I remember when I was in about 6th or 7th grade, they stopped saying an offical prayer over the PA system and just gave a moment of silence. Now this I find agreeable and promote. That way there is no religious prejudice and even Hinduism and Hare Krishna's can quietly pray to Krishna where no one can criticize. Even the removal of the 10 Commandments in front of the courthouse, I had mixed feelings about it. Some religion is better than no religion at all, yet one of those commandments is "thou shalt not have any graven images." Of course, we know what that really means, but they do not, as they don't have enough knowledge to understand the difference between a concocted, made up 'graven' image, and a genuine murti or Deity of Krishna based on shastra. But I do get a little fearful that in time all religion will fade from this country since its mostly Christian, and then all havoc will break loose. Unless we start preaching again, but those times of brining in large numbers of new devotees to join the temples thru sankirtana have changed. At least for now. So I am not sure what my opinion is on all this for the moment. Would like to hear others feedback on it so maybe I could see various perspectives.

WOW What an interesting story! Thank you for sharing it. Well, the loss of so much $ may be a little frustrating for a while, but the older you get the less important that money will be to you, as you will see more and more you received the greatest treasure - Krishna! /images/graemlins/smile.gif And you are all ready on that track. How fortunate anyone is to learn Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

Haribol prabhu, I would so much want to believe this. Unfortuatnely too many such diseases, or even just problems along these lines, are considered something to be ashamed of, therefore no one reports them. I would love to be wrong, but there is no way to get statistics on what is not revealed. Its kali yuga on the entire planet and the only way out is to chant Hare Krishna. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Avinash prabhu, Sound like you are doing all the right things, giivng her good advice and avoiding her other times. Try not to let the opinions of co-workers get to you. You don't see them offering to marry her. ha And marriage is a life chocie to be made by that person alone, no one should judge someone else who doesn't want to spend the rest of life with a particular perosn they dont want to spend it with. Nah, you're right, they're wrong. /images/graemlins/smile.gif And thanks for your kind words about my posts. One day I hope I dont mess up, ha, but I'm only human. Trying to get beyond that tho. :-)

His words as a pure deovtee are always perfect. Madhava and Ramanuja do 'not' disagree with his words. I asked for references from Prabhupada devotees and from Prabhupada's books. This was not intended to be an ISKCON/Hindu arguement as you seem to use every opportunity on these boards to bring up. I suspect you are the same man who brought up the topic and then argued with me over ISKCON not so long ago. Just as you didn't understand what I believe then, I can see by your reply you still don't. You are once again 'educating' me on things I all ready know. So please, lets not get into that cycle. Matter of fact, as soon as I figured out what type of reply it was, all I bothered to read was the first bit quoted above. I did not go any furhter and will not get into any more lenghtly heated debates you enjoy creating over ISKCON hatred (even when ISKCON has not been the topic) or any other kind of hatred either. Hate breads hate. Not interested in associating with those whose minds are filled with hate. I am asking for replies from those who actually belive Prabhupada is a pure devotee. Therefore, if any are out there who believe Prabhupada is a pure deovtee, and have time to give some quotes from his books, I would love to hear from you. If too busy, thats ok too. Just clarifying "who" I was posting to. This is not about debate. I just want the information to give to someone. So please, no offense intended to any Hindus.

Actually it was me who wanted such information, tho specifically from Prabhupada's books, which I do not consider sectarian. But I appreciate your attempt to help. Unfortunately I find it a little confusing. I can't tell what Prabhupada said and what are your comments. Am wondering how you can delete someone elses post.

LOL LOL LOL Good one. You didn't scare me LE. I looked so weird as a teenager! You are more brave than I am cuz I wont even give my description! ha But later, that changed, as it did with you too. Which is why I'm telling him not to evalute his looks at this point in his life, because there are many loooooooooooooong awkward teenage years of the body developing and moving and altering all around, until it finally becomes an adult. And I agree with you, just look at what those movie stars and rock stars do! Some of them are ugly or close to it, yet they work with it. Tho also, just cuz they have (or are suppose to have) a unique personality, most don't care about their looks anyway.

Well, ok then, but if you want help, you must reciprocate and post answers to the people who give you advice. Otherwise, how is anyone to know you are not pulling a prank if you post, then never reply? So, if you are willing to do reply, there are many wonderful devotees on this forum who are more than happy to help you, but you must get involved. So far, both myself and living entity have given you good ideas, and this is the next step. If you want change, you cant reject every single idea. You have to take action.

First I want to thank you two for your quotes and various contributions. These will help! What about the Hindus who want direct shastra, or something found within Vedic text and not purports? Does anyone have anything from Prabhupada's book like that? If not, thats ok, I appreciate the help I have all ready been given. Of course, if so.... /images/graemlins/smile.gif
