  1. Lets not judge or chastize anyone we can't get details from. It appears they are doing what they know. And when they know better, they will do better. We can use these boards to help adivse such sincere seekers a better way to advance spiriutally. Dear poster, Sravanam Kirtanam, start with hearing and chanting the holy names: Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krisha Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare. In this age of kali - it is the best way to get out of the material world and go back to Home, back to Godhead. Maya S, I hope you will forgive our one godbrother here and notice the rest of us want to help you in any area you wish to inquire about. If you would like some books to read, here are two of my favorite links: http://www.asitis.com That one is a pure or unaltered version of the Gita. and http://www.krishnabook.com This one is Krishna Book or 10th Canto of Srimad Bhagavatam in lovely story format. (Admin5: edited to restore one of Pritaa's post by including it in one of her other posts.)
  2. Sorry, I just read all the posts and realized my question had all ready been asked. I had not read all of them prior to posting. Still, I'd like to know more about whether or not its Reiki, or similar.
  3. Haribol Janardana prabhu, This sounds like a form of Reiki, not exaclty the same thing, but very similar. Is it?
  4. Thank you Thiest, I was taking this for a while and then quit. Glad you put some info up about it, cuz thats what keeps me taking my various supplements. This is a good one too.
  5. Oh on the contrary, both are good, very good! /images/graemlins/smile.gif Once we realize we are in illusion, we can start to come out of it. Real liberation for the devotee is not liberation, but to serve Krishna! So the more we do that, the more choice we get to make.

  7. Haribol prabhu, I typed it all up into a long document which I haven't felt up to pulling up, since it takes a lot of memory, but I think I read it in Nalini's new book, and I also read it on varoius jyotish elists I am on, including GauraVani's or the GV list.

  9. I_L_K, To be able to make a choice 'is' freewill. This is why I want to talk about it. Seems many grey areas. I like the cow theory myself. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

  11. Yes Thiest, tho I suspect from posts I have read he is new, which is a compliment. Just .... remember what it was like 20 years ago or so, everything was so exciting and enlivening! In the beginning Krishna wraps a blanket of protection around you to make you strong. Then over time He takes it off and ya have to be able to do more on your own. Its maintainence 20 plus years later, or the ability to do so, that needs to be taken into consideration too.
  12. What kind of question is this, can you see Jesus. Do you EVER read Prabhupada using such arguments? It is not by what we see, but what we read in shastra. So, support your point of view from shastra, not this 'can you see' stuff.
  13. L.E. You bring up a good point - which brings to another topic - freewill. How much freewill do we really have? /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/grin.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif

  15. hahaha Oddly enough, when living in the ashrama and it was encouraged (or forced lol) to get less sleep, I tried to slept in until 4 AM and refused to get up a minute sooner, as I wanted more sleep. (And got yelled at alot for this, but I didn't care, I was tired!) Whereas now I get chronic insomnia, and part of the reason may be, as you have posted, I worry I am wasting time in sleep, or think about something I need to do, etc. ha But just see how much more powerful choice is. Tho its important to get 'enough,' as I recently heard how insufficient sleep can lead to serious heart trouble.
  16. Yes, it is sad indeed. I met him just before I became a devotee and he preached to me a little. About a year or so after I moved in the temple, I went to P.R. (I did not stay very long), where I bumped into him. A pleasant surprise. I have not seen him since, but to find this out was the opposite - not pleasant. Someone emailed posts he had written which were pretty intense! If this is a sign of intelligence, I dont want it. What kind of intelligence is that. So his current opinions or beliefs are clear from his posts, but at the same time, things can turn around. I have known devotees who completely left, even became inimical, later to give that up. Still, we should pray for him to be able to open his eyes. Oddly enough, his books may still be considered bona fide because, as he has said himself, he knows what devotees believe and what to write about. So I wouldn't through his books away, tho not sure I'd buy any new ones until he wakes up.

  18. I have a quote on one of my web pages, and if you want I will find it and get it exactly, but its in relationship to someone saying the Jews are the Yadu dynasty, to which Prabhupada replied that that Krishna took the Yadu dynasty back with Him and no one can be related to Krishna thru blood. He went on like that. So lets not make it look like Prabhupada had a prejudicial preference toward any one sect. Prabhupada has said many things. The one really favored is the deovtee who follows his instruction the most. And recently I have heard Satyaraja is not so much believing in Krishna or Prabhupada anymore, that he made some comment he merely knows how to write the books and its a form of income for him, but he doesn't always agree with what he writes! Tho to a degree he may still be somewhat of a devotee, but he has really fallen away.

  20. Oh L.E., I do think it is very interesting and very telling. I like it and on a personal level, agree. We are the open minded ones, with such great faith in our fellow man (or woman) that we tend to so trustingly believe as we honor all prayer to God, that is what they mean too. Especially in public schools which are not parochial school systems but intended for 'everyone.' So this is my concern, not the other. I think they, once again, mean only Christian prayer should be allowed in the public schools, etc., and not even Jewish, what to speak of Buddhist, what to speak of Hinduism, or the Hare Krishna deovtees. But the fact that prayer in general is not allowed, this concerns me and I am glad you posted what that student wrote! It shows a decline in religiousity in general, which I find as a real concern. We need to pick up our bookbags again! /images/graemlins/smile.gif (And I was awful at skp. ha But I recognize it as important.) I do agree that silent prayer would be a good idea.
  21. L.E. I couldn't agree with you more! Matter of fact, I agree with all you have said so much, that rather than say anything, I have simply made sure to quote you. Every bit of it is so true.
  22. Well, there ya go. Exactly what I suspected. He said it was all about making his decisions based on God, and others feeling supported to do the same. But its all about making decisions based on "his" understanding of God which is only Christian, and no other religion is respected. As far as us not 'being here' when this country was founded, he should read those laws more closely and without bias, because actually this country was not founded on Christianity but on religous freedom. So I don't know that the original forefathers fathers would agree with him. They may not like our religion, yet it appears they honored all religion of choice. The wording they went out of their way to make sure to use was very open minded and included any religious belief, not just Christianity. I suspect its the result of all the prejudice they experienced. Anyhow thanks for this. I had not known he made such comments.
  23. You took the words right out of my mouth L.E.! So true.
  24. "No I was just speaking in general. Yeah we have to be very careful. They usually aren't even listening when we respond. We think we can change them and they think they can change us." Yes, we are both thinking we can change the other. ha "I'm fried also." Thanks for saying that. Thought I was the only one who noticed what they do to us here. "I am also fried with the hindu fundementalist" LOL lol Sorry, that made me laught. But I realize it is a serious comment. Actually, thats why it made me laugh. Cuz its acceptable to point this out about other religions, but not something so close to home. So, that needs to get cleared. "who offend Christ in some sort of perverted retaliation." What they dont get, or some don't want to get, is that what is currently being preached as modern Christianity is not what Christ preached, so they need to separate Christ from their feelings of Christians. They are deviating. Even one movie, I forget the name, it said something like: "If Christ did return, he'd go to the Hare Krishna temple." LOL Even they 'get it' that Christ preached something different than modern day Christianity. "At that point their is nothing but creeper killing going on." Exactly. "Philosophical discussions and disagreements should stand but when someone starts in with the aparadha they just just be banned. I think its a tightrope walk for the moderators. If they are too quick to ban someone from posting we complain. If too slow we complain." haha Well, I think the minute they make the slightest indication of an offense to Prabhupada or Krishna (incarnations, etc), they should go. But I do realize what you are saying. "I think we just have to be personally very careful on what we read. That is hard though with all the nameless guests." Yes. It did not previously bother me when there were nameless guests cuz they were devotees. But now they are those of other religions who want to insult and hide. Also now, even some devotees are doing like that. I wish there was more control over these nameless guests who dont have the courage to sign who they are to their words. "Hare Krsna I do regret losing Myra. Maybe she will come back around for a converstaion." I didn't really know her, but I suspect she left because she disagreed with our religion was wanted to be respectful too.
