  1. Get one!!! An if they got a friend ask them if they might come an see me.
  2. No problem with a little opposition, so long as it draws out the best in us all, not the offensive and defensive worst. I think devotees need to read who they are communicating with and respond accordingly. So long as we realize there's one of Krsna's potential friends within every living entity that He has arranged for us to meet. 'The environment is our friend coming to help us.' Remove all obstacles and allow me the vision to see it as favourable for my nessacary development. Dissolve my illusions, doubts and ignorance of my false ego with the torchlight of your mercy. Show me the way of the compassionate souls that I too may walk in their footsteps. Convince me Radha-Krsna live in the heart of Their devotee. That They are a tangible reality, Let me see them dance in your words and example, and help me to join that great dance, with joy in my heart and true humility in my soul.

  4. Prabhu doesn't 'Fix your mind on Me alone' strike you as an aspiration. Without aspiration how can we advance from our present position. I can understand how Divine Grace may descend to deliver us, but even that will happen thru the effort to fix our minds and hearts on Him, as it appears He, in his infinite kindness responds to our free will making the decision to heed His advice in fixing our minds on Him for that there must be a movement (aspiration)on our behalf to move from forgetfulness to rememberance. Hence the process of Sravanam Kirtanam Visnoh Smaranam, to help fix up our maladjustment. And it must be an aspiration from below where we presently are, to a higher platform of Nistha (consistency) "bhakti not mukti" simply means, do not aspire for anything. This can leave us in 'No where land'. Rather Bhakti begets Bhakti, Thru desiring Krsna one gets Krsna. Just as a beautiful partner has to know you have some affection for them otherwise the relationship just translates as one sided and will hardly be sustainable if the Lord has to do all the work. We are forever aspiring to ever increasing affections for that high and noble Ideal Reality of Love and Beauty. This is the enless life of a devotee. To think we have arrived there, is also a great folly. In the service of the jivas. dasanudas

  6. It seems this is one case of the finite being conquered by the infinite I guess there are some things that the Lord insists He knows better than his Divine servitors. Jagat Prabhu what do you know about the supposed erotic stone carving within the temple? I heard somewhere that Srila Bhaktivinode Thakur had them covered up. If so where did they originate, I'm just wondering if Lord Jagganath objected to Sri Ramanujacharyas changes. Then how did such a change manifest in stone, similar to the Konarak carving?Just curious. [This message has been edited by dasanudas (edited 06-21-2001).]
  7. Now in the spiritual arena Bhagavan Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu came and manifest the fifth dimension which was above and beyond all previous conceptions, but still accommodating them all. Prior to that the fourth dimension was given by Sankaracharyya and the second dimension was given by Buddha. Buddha recognised the existence of the subtle body and concluded that with the dissolution of that subtle body nothing remains. Then Sankaracharyya said, “The subtle body is only a reflection of a further thing, Brahman, which is itself true and eternal, and this world is also a reflection of that. With the dissolution of the reflection, the individual soul dissolves forever and nothing but Brahman remains.” There are in fact so very many differences between the propounders of the main conceptions of reality, and also to a certain extent there are differences amongst their disciples. Sankaracharyya and Buddha both preferred that the ultimate goal be non-differentiated, unknown and unknowable, and they finished there. Do you wish to go there? Elimination of all diversity may be a very peaceful position, a deep slumber, and that is their goal. There are many followers of that creed. But their sacrifice is of a lesser degree than those who dedicate themselves to the higher living plane. Ramanuja said, “There is another world on the opposite side.” This material world is the world of exploitation and beyond that is liberation, brahman or nirvana, but on the other side of that is the positive plane which is purely subjective and full of dedication. That is the fourth dimension, Vaikuntha, the land of Vishnu. Then Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu gave the additional conception, explaining, “Calculative dedication in Vaikuntha is one thing but spontaneous dedication to Krishna in Goloka is another. And the highest ideal is not spontaneous dedication to power and majesty, but to Love beauty.”For this to exist there must be life, and concious units to exchange with. Sankaracharyya said, “All is one, there is no variety.” But Mahaprabhu points out, “If there is no variety, how can the question of unity arise? If there is variety then there must be the question of unity otherwise what is there to unify. So in this world we are to make our proper adjustments, we have come here for that. The Vaisnavas want higher sacrifice, living dedication and tolerance for the central Personal Truth that is a reality in each vaisnavas heart. That truth we see as a person, and with His own will that He can include whowever he wishes within it. We shouldn't be envious. We must admit that and sincerely surrender to Him, if we want to have entrance into His world. But he is knowing our heart more than we know ourselves. NECTAR AND POISON. Dedication to Krishna is nectar and exploitation of this material energy is poison, and what the followers of Sankara and Buddha want is the middle position, where everything is harmonised into death, the plane of cessation of difference, freedom from suffering. That is brahman-nirvana, the final peace, devoid of trouble where all are buried in eternal slumber. If you prefer that you can go there. But what you find in this world is the reflection of the original whole, perverted into exploitation. On the other side is dedication. In the group of servitors practicing pure dedication, even their quarrel becomes beautiful. Whatever is found here is found there totally. Try to understand this general principle. A poison may be utilised as medicine when applied properly. The mayavadi (impersonalists) cannot find any harmony in difference, they can only find harmony in the conception of non-differentiated Brahman consciousness. They cannot keep up the beautiful harmony in variety held by the vaishnavas. Rather they consider that everything must be merged, homogenized into one, to solve the problems of the world, for there to be freedom from pain. Other than that they have no solution, but only disturbance. With the qualifications of humility, patience and forbearance, with no tendency to seek self-glory, but rather to glorify others and honour their respectable existence, we can live happily with our neighbours and the whole environment. Mahaprabhu has given this solution to us and we are to equip ourselves in this way. Why should you think your neighbour to be undesirable? You are not to complain against the environment but you are to control yourself and come to the proper understanding. With proper adjustment you will find everything to be harmonious, the desired land of your life. At home you shall find everything. Srila B.R.Sridara Maharaj

  12. Hilarious!! I didn't think scientists read science fiction novels maybe that's where they get all their other inspirations, seems ya gotta come up with a new scheme these days to keep the gullible financing their endless fantasies. Oh for Gods divine intervention in every way, it's all becoming a little too indigestable. Next thing they'll be pairing up Mars and Venus to have perfect little venarsian offspring.
  13. Krsna condones the 'death penalty' that He put in place along long time ago. Fortunately for us He also condones the 'Life benediction' which He also dishes out on occasion, thru his other self and that big golden heart.
  14. I'm not sure I even know what you mean. There's nothing up my nose other than maybe a little crystalized mucous shrouding the shrinking grey matter.
  15. Pheww that saves some posting. It's much better read complete.
  16. Here is a small excert from Sanatans Goswamis Brhad Bhagavamrtam as requested. To get the full picture one must read this transcendental jewel systamaticly as it describes all the levels of God realization.I will try to post some further chapters to express these progressive steps to divinity. Here it is starting from Maha devs glorification of the residents of Vaikuntha. Mind you it is difficult to single out small parts of whole. 42 O best of Lord Krishna's associates, don't think I am the object of His mercy. Know that the residents of Vaikuntha are the actual objects of His very great mercy. 43 Renouncing everything material as if it were only a clump of grass, with great devotion they worship their beloved Lord Krishna. If all material benefits and yogic perfections come before them, they will not look at them, even from the corner of their eye. 44 They who are free of all pride may go to that realm of Vaikuntha, which is beyond the three modes of material nature, free of all fear, eternal and full of transcendental knowledge and bliss. 45 Their forms already eternal and full of knowledge and bliss, the devotees there do not worship Lord Krishna to attain eternity, knowledge, bliss or opulence equal to His. 46 Happy with devotional service to the Lord, protecting the devotees and preaching devotional service, they travel as they wish. 47 As, in the forms of birds, trees, and other creatures, They eternally serve the Supreme Lord in many ways in the realm of Vaikuntha, they seem to mock the souls merged in impersonal liberation. 48 They gaze at the delightful Supreme Lord Hari, whose lotus feet are massaged by the goddess of fortune. They enjoy blissful pastimes in His company. 49 The great glory of Lord Krishna's mercy is eternally granted to the residents of Vaikunthaloka. Where else may that mercy be placed? 50 In that place is only a wonderful, blissful, eternal flowing stream of pure love for the Lord and sankirtana and a host of devotional activities. In that place there is not anything other than this. 51 Ah! The happiness of impersonal Brahman does not equal a very small portion of half a drop of the great wonder that is the glory of that nectar ocean of the bliss of pure devotion. 52 Vaikuntha, its residents, and everything within it are the greatest object of the transcendental love and mercy of Lord Krishna's lotus feet. 53 The glory of the opulent residents of Vaikuntha, who are all the objects of Lord Krishna's mercy, is much greater than any glory I may possess. How will it be possible for me to describe their glory? 61 Because they drink the nectar of pure devotional service to Lord Krishna, and because they thus forget everything of the material body and the great host of things in relation to it, they have forms of eternity, knowledge and bliss, even while they stay in bodies made of material elements. 62 They patiently wait for the time when they will enter Vaikuntha to enjoy transcendental pastimes with the Supreme Personality of Godhead Himself. 63 The devotees I have described are all my superiors. They are very dear to Lord Krishna. They are the special object of His mercy. 64 Sri Parvati said: Of these devotees Laksmi-devi is the most dear to Lord Hari. She is the queen of Vaikuntha and its residents. 65 By her sidelong glance one may attain powers and opulences like the demigods who rule the various planets. By her mercy one may attain perfect knowledge, renunciation, and devotional service. 66 Even though many sages like yourself worship her with great reverence, she ignores you all, and chooses her beloved Lord Narayana instead. Even though Narayana is indifferent to her, she worships Him and performs severe austerities to please Him. 67 She eternally resides on His handsome chest. A faithful wife, she follows her husband in all His incarnations. 68-9 Sri Pariksit said: His heart trembling with great happiness, Narada Muni called out, "O husband of Laksmi, glory to You! O master of Vaikuntha, O Lord Hari, glory to You! O realm of Vaikuntha, glory to you! O residents of Vaikuntha, glory to you! O Laksmi, O beloved of Lord Krishna, O queen of Vaikuntha, glory to you!" 70 Narada rose to go to Vaikuntha and meet Laksmi. Understanding his plan, Shiva took his hand, stopped him, and said: 71 Sri Shiva said: "O sage whose memory is defeated by the wish to meet Lord Krishna's beloved, do you not remember that the Lord now lives in Dvaraka on the earth?" 72 Lord Krishna is the original Supreme Personality of Godhead and Rukmini is the goddess of fortune, Maha-Laksmi, whose plenary portions are the consorts of Lord Vamana and the other incarnations of the Lord. 73 Rukmini, the original goddess of fortune, eternally serves the two lotus feet of Lord Krishna, the original Personality of Godhead. 74 O brahmana, sit down, and I will whisper a great secret in your ear. Please listen with great faith. 75 Prahlad, whose fame as a great devotee is spread throughout the entire universe, is more dear to Lord Krishna than your father, than me, than Garuda, and all the other devotees, and even than the goddess of fortune herself. 76 Have you forgotten the words of the Supreme Personality of Godhead? Do you not remember this verse in the Puranas (Srimad Bhagavatam 9.4.64): 77 "O best of the brahmanas, without saintly persons for whom I am the only destination, I do not desire to enjoy My transcendental bliss and My supreme opulences." 78 Neither I, all the demigods, or even His own transcendental forms are as pleasing to Him as His dear devotees. Who can properly glorify the devotees? Another excerpt further on, continuing with Hanuman in Ayodya. I wish I could post it all but it would take up a lot of space. 89 Sri Hanuman said: O Supreme Personality of Godhead, O Lord overwhelmed with love for Your devotees, O Lord whose transcendental activities attract your devotees' hearts, this is the way You act. 90 It is my great good fortune that in the middle of the sons of Kunti (the Pandavas) is my dear younger brother Bhimasena. 91 Out of kindness and friendship the Lord gave His own sister in marriage to Arjuna, who carries a flag whose insignia is a likeness of me. 92 Without the transcendental mercy of they who are very dear to the Lord, the loving service of the Lord's servants will not be successful. That service will not bear any good fruit. 93 O best of the devotees, O most dear favourite of the Lord, let us go there to see them. 94-5 The transcendental opulence, sweetness, and wonder that is very difficult for Brahma, Shiva and the other demigods to understand, that increases the love of the devotees, and that had not been revealed when the Lord appeared in Ayodhya, is now displayed in Mathura and Dvaraka. 96 Sri Narada said: This sweetness and opulence is not manifested even in Vaikuntha, what to speak of Ayodhya. Rise! Rise! Friend, let us quickly go there. 97 At that moment Hanuman became as grave as the ocean. He reflected within himself for a moment, sighed, bowed down, and then said to Narada: 98 Sri Hanuman said: It is right for us to go to see and serve the most dear devotees of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. 99 The sweetness of great mercy the Lord displays now is greater and more profound than what He had shown in the past. 100 The supremely charming and wonderful waves of the Lord's present transcendental pastimes have bewildered even the most learned and intelligent of the sages. 101 Even Brahma, the father of you and your exalted brothers, the grandfather of all the worlds, and the original teacher of the Vedas, is bewildered by these pastimes. 102 If even he becomes bewildered, then what can be said about unintelligent monkeys like myself. You can easily understand the Lord's activities, but I fear I will commit an offense. 103 The Lord's wonderful transcendental pastimes increase the love and devotion of the devotees. These pastimes are the final destination of they who repose all their love in the Lord alone and in no one else. 104-8 I pray that for Lord Ramacandra, whose heart is naturally soft with sincere compassion, who is honest and righteous, who has taken a vow to accept only one wife, whose face and eyes are always bowed down with great humility and shyness, whose good character delights the world, who is the monarch of Ayodhya City, who is the greatest of all kings, who is served by Sita and Laksmana, who is the elder brother of Bharata, who is the dear friend of Sugriva, who is the ruler of the monkeys, who is the shelter of Vibhisana, who holds a bow in His hand, who is the son of Dasaratha and Kausalya, and who is the great king of the Raghu dynasty, may my devotional love always increase. 109 I shall simply stay here, gaze at the Deity form of Lord Rama, and drink the nectar of His pastimes. 110-1 When Lord (Krishna), out of His great mercy, may call me to give me the great transcendental happiness of the opportunity to serve Him, will He, out of love for me, show me the form (of Lord Rama) that is more dear to me than life? 112-3 When the Lord reveals Himself as Ramacandra I shall go to Him at once. Now you please go to the Pandavas, and in their palace see the Supreme Brahman, whose transcendental form is like that of a human being, who is full of transcendental bliss, who is beyond the touch of the words and thoughts of the sages, who is very charming and who is a great jewel mine of the sweetnesses of wonderful transcendental pastimes. .
  17. While it is true Allah and Krsna may well be one and the same person as is Lord Rama and Yarweh. but still we will find oceans of difference in their various potencies. This is the all accomodating understanding of a vaisnava yet unfortunately we rarely find it in many Muslems and many Christians. Below are the qualities of a vaisnava if only we could exibhit such ornaments of the soul for others: sei saba guna haya vaisnava-laksana saba kahana yaya, kari' dig-darasana. krpalu, akrtadroha, satyasara, sama nirdosa, vadanya, mrdu, suci, aki-cana. sarvopakaraka, santa, krsnaika-sarana akama, niriha, sthira, vijita sad-guna mitabhuk, apramatta, manada, amani gambhira, karuna, maitra, kavi, daksa, mauni. All these transcendental qualities are the characteristics of pure Vaisnavas, and they cannot be fully explained, but I shall try to point out some of the important qualities. Devotees are always merciful, humble, truthful, equal to all, faultless, magnanimous, mild and clean. They are without material possessions, and they perform welfare work for everyone. They are peaceful, surrendered to Krsna, and desireless. They are indifferent to material acquisitions and are fixed in devotional service. They completely control the six bad qualities: lust, anger, greed, pride, illusion, and envy. They eat only as much as required, and are sober. They are respectful, grave, compassionate, and without false prestige. They are friendly, poetic, expert, and are silent: that is, they do not speak whimsically. (Caitanya-Caritamrta Madhya 22.74-76)
  18. Mrtyuh sarva-harascaham udbhavas ca bhavisyatam"I am all devouring death" We can't possibly conceive Krsna's energies nor should we truly wish to, as He is eternal and states how He remembers all those previous incarnations he has had, but we can barely remember what we did yesterday. We may be able to understand a little like this. If you see a movie in 1970 and then there is a remake of it then you are somewhat familiar with the plot and the outcome. Maybe different actors are playing the various roles, but the story line is already known to the director. Simularly the director can steer and shape the movie in any way He wishes. If He favours one hero to be victorious at the expence of so many villains that is in His power. So many different pralayas have come and gone in eternal time, and we may well have played in many of them, but due to Krsnas kindness He wipes the slate clean, and things appear as thru the eyes of a child evernew, everfresh. Whatsmore Krsna doesn't desire for us to see Him in such awe and reverence rather as a simple friend or companion. This benediction comes thru the process of Bhakti. Krsna is truly the friend of all friends to have as ones mate. [This message has been edited by dasanudas (edited 06-13-2001).]
  19. The Lord and His devotee manifest for two basic reasons one is to defeat atheism the other is to establish Theism. In this jungle of illusions there are various souls who made the wrong choice to come here and play God but amongst them are some who have realized their mistake, and now wish to establish a loving relationship with the Lord in person, but there are still those who try to devert these changing souls back to their misconception or keep them there. This tends to conflict with a devotee who is endeavouring to work on behalf of that one they have received Grace from, their conviction sometimes manifests in a number of ways that are seen sometimes hard as a thunderbolt and other times soft as a rose, depending on the opposing force. There are so many subtle degrees of illusion even including thinking one is a devotee that has the Absolute Truth in their clutches, and this can cause some distasteful encounters. For every thesis there can't but be an antithesis in this world of polarity. But for the synthesis of the Truth to manifest places like these forums exist. We all agree it would be nice to see civil, sober and honorable exchanges in all transactions of the heart, and hopefully that's the way they will remain with your help. Ananga are you sure you haven't had a little peek at the responses.
  20. "The spiritual master opens my darkened eyes with the torchlight of transcendental understanding."
  21. To sin on the strength of the Holy name is an offence against the Holy Names, the only one we are fooling is ourselves. It may be the beginning of the saving process. But for real salvation one has to act on it, by following the will and instruction cent per cent of our saviour, our heart and soul becomes purified to make us befitting candidates to enter that divine world of love and devotion. My observation is that those who are truly saved feel in humility that they are no where near saved. And vice-versa.
  22. Just a tangent to this thread, but that last story reminds me of one of the most mangy dogs who would visit Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math every day to scavenge the remnants of the devotees leaf plates that they discarded in one huge compost pile. This one dog in particular would even fight all the others for the mercy and afterwards would go around howling and wincing like it was in it's death throws, to the sound of the kirtan. Nothing anyone ever did to remove it would phase it. It was so diseased the devotees didn't dare touch it. One day it was conspicuous by it's absence, and low and behold he was discovered stretched out in full dandavats at the feet Of Sri Sri Guru Gauranga Gandhava Govinda sundarajui no longer breathing. Who can understand the way of mercy?
  23. During their investigation, researchers found a few people who engaged in both sexual intercourse and marijuana use just before their heart attack, but not enough to scientifically determine whether the combination of the two further increased the health risk. Not the most noble consciousness to be caught in at the time of ones exit from this material world. They say first impressions are important but then so are last impressions.
  24. Don't worry mum, alls well that evolves well.
  25. I love Nityanandas, Haridas' and Jesus example of mercy, of giving love for hate, compassion for injustice, and I think it has all been exhibited for us all to change our hearts, it's the highest ideal and we fully agree that it is the answer to make an ideal environment for us all to feel safe and loved. But it isn't in place, it's a nightmare, and we're aspiring in our meagre way, to make some small change thru presenting these examples to that warped misconception, as best we can. How many martyrs need to lay down their lives to the fanatics that believe they themselves are actually the martyrs. Unfortunately there are players out there like the Kazi, Pilate and Lekta who don't play by the book, they are blocking the movement of divinity. And the jails are getting too full of them, so what to do, turn them loose on society again? These people are not taking to the sankirtan movement prabhu, altho maybe I'm an exception. Only hypothetical prabhus, but if your Gurudev (not that he ever would be) was in that building, how would you feel? If we see it all as the will of Krsna then He must be condoning such an act, and likewise the execution, if it has come to pass, nothing moves without His will they say, except all those with their own free will. This takes me into the Mahabharat and the inconceivable. Big subject.Just a few other angles, appreciate your angle Audarya prabhu.
