  1. Continuous reality: Wandering in Trance Sometimes He would run away so swiftly that the devotees could not trace Him, especially in the night, when they would lose Him in the darkness. Then, they would all be disappointed, thinking, "Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, our lord and master, has left us!" But suddenly they would hear Him far away, crying, "Krsna, Krsna, Krsna!" in a piteous, wailing tone. Then they would run in that direction and see that He was lying on the ground, crying, kahan mora prana natha murali-vadana kahan karon kahan pan vrajendra-nandana "Where is my beloved Krsna? I can't tolerate His separation. Where is the Lord of My life, who is playing His flute? What shall I do now? Where should I go to find the son of Maharaja Nanda?" In a piteous, heart-rending tone. He was crying. In a bewildered state, with no consciousness of any particular direction. He would say, "Who are you? I'm going to Vrndavana. Why are you disturbing Me?" After nursing Him, again they began to start towards the west, towards Vrndavana. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu continued wandering in trance. But the great attraction of His devotees did not allow Him to go towards the west. Taking advantage of His trance, Nityananda Prabhu somehow coaxingly turned Mahaprabhu's face towards Santipura. It is mentioned in the Caitanya-Bhagavata that beginning from Katwa, they went west until they reached a place near Vakresvara, about six miles northeast of Dubrarajpura, in the district of Birbhum. In Vi-sramatala, on the other side of the Adjai river, there is a place which is observed as the seat of Sri Caitanya. There, they say, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu turned His face from the west towards the east, or from Vrndavana to Santipura. They wandered throughout the remaining evening, and then another day and night. Finally, on the third day, in the evening. He returned through Kalna to Santipura through the arrangements of Nityananda Prabhu, who appeared before Mahaprabhu in the red cloth of a renunciate. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, although so familiar with him, couldn't recognize Nityananda. He saw a sannyasi before Him and thought, "I am going to Vrndavana, and here is a sannyasi in front of Me." He said, "O Sripada sannyasi, where are You going? I shall go to Vrndavana with You. How far is Vrndavana from here?" Nityananda showed Him the Ganges, near Kalna, saying, "Just see, there is the Yamuna." Mahaprabhu said, "Oh, We have come so near the Yamuna!" Then, He took His bath in the Yamuna, singing this verse: cid-ananda-bhanoh sada nanda-sunoh para-prema-patri drava-brahma-gatri aghanam lavitri jagat-ksema-dhatri pavitri-kriyan no vapur mitra-putri "O daughter of the sun: although you have appeared in the form of water, you are most dear to the son of Nanda, who is the spiritual sun. You dispel the sins of all sinners. Please purify this mortal body." (Kavi Karnapura:Caitanya Candrodaya-nataka 5.13) Just before Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu arrived there on the banks of the Ganges, Nityananda Prabhu sent Can-drasekhara to inform Advaita Acarya to come. When Mahaprabhu asked Advaita Acarya, "Is that You, Advaita? How did you know I was in Vrndavana?" Advaita Acarya said, "This must be some kind of joke. Wherever You are is Vrndavana. And it is My fortune that You have come here, near the Ganges.Oh, it is the Ganges?" "Yes." Then, Mahaprabhu, regaining His consciousness of this world, said, "Oh, then it is a conspiracy of Nityananda Prabhu. He has brought Me here to the banks of the Ganges and told Me it is the Yamuna. It is all a hoax! I have fallen prey to His hoax." Advaita Acarya argued, "No, no, Nityananda Prabhu has not spoken any falsehood. You have really taken bath in the Yamuna. The confluence of the Yamuna and Ganges is in Allahabad, and it is mentioned in sastra that the western side is the Yamuna, and the eastern side is the Ganges. Now You have taken Your bath in the western side, so You have taken Your bath in the Yamuna, according to scripture. So Nityananda Prabhu has not told any lie. Anyway, I have come with this new dress for You. Leave Your wet clothes and accept this new garb. I have also cooked something for You. For three days You have been fasting, and today, as a sannyasi, You must take some charity in My house. I am a poor man," he said with folded palms, "but You must come." They took Him by boat to Santipura, to the house of Advaita Acarya. The next morning Sacidevi came, and Mahaprabhu spent about ten or twelve days there in Santipura performing kirtana.
  2. That's united we dance funny thing what kirtan does to your body, what to speak of the mind and soul.
  3. :confused I don't even go to Dharma Mela I experienced too much insult to those I dearly try to love there.I see some of these forums a little like temples and if those I have regard for are not given proper honor, then I don't feel comfortable going back there. I did go as far as the door but was told it would take a day to enter, so I thought it may have passed by then. Anyway prabhu it sounds like you are one a'those sensitive new-age guys, or maybe old-age guy, or even one of us no-age ????? God likes me when I work (just like m'wife) But he gets bluer if I don't work, but He loves me when I sing. Cheers. \o/\o/ 0 0 / \/ \ [This message has been edited by dasanudas (edited 09-22-2001).]
  4. There is an old Irish saying that "If you see a two headed pig on the road don't tell anyone." The ability to percieve things differently than others marks one as different. Too funny, too true janus!!! I appreciate your serious depth also.
  5. "I Must Run To Vrndavana!" After the function of sannyasa was finished, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu became mad. "I must run to Vrndavana," He thought. "I have given up all connection with this world. I have no attraction for it. I must run to Vrndavana to exclusively engage Myself in the service of Krsna." In trance. He began to chant a verse from the Srimad-Bhagavatam where Krsna gives a description of sannyasa to Uddhava. This verse was spoken by a tri-dandi-bhiksu, a mendicant. Mahaprabhu quoted this verse, thinking, "I have accepted this garb of a sannyasi for this is favorable to My spiritual life. Now, no one in society has any claim over Me, and I will be able to exclusively devote Myself to the service of Krsna. I am going to Vrndavana with no other engagement or connection with anyone." In this way, in ecstatic madness He began to chant and dance. Kesava Bharati Maharaja embraced Him, and both guru and disciple joined together, chanting and dancing. At that time Mahaprabhu spoke the verse of the brahmana who, in the last stages of his life, took tridandi sannyasa and had to tolerate the torture of society in different forms. He said: etam sa asthaya paratma-nistham adhyasitam purvatamair maharsibhih aham tarisyami duranta-param tamo mukundanghri-nisevayaiva "The previous great sages have accepted and shown the path of sannyasa. I have now accepted that very form of life. Now, leaving everything aside, I shall run towards Vrndavana. There, taking the name of Mukunda, Krsna, I shall cross over the ocean of nescience. Crossing over this maya, I shall reach Vrndavana and fully enter the service of Krsna" The dress of a sannyasi is meant only for an external adjustment, but the real thing is to serve Mukunda. And so, with this verse. He suddenly started towards Vrndavana from Katwa. Near the banks of the Ganges, He entered the jungle thinking, "Now, My duty is to reach Vrndavana as soon as possible and there, in a solitary place, I shall sit and chant and sing the name of Krsna." Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu ran towards Vrndavana and entered the jungle before evening. And Nityananda Prabhu, Candrasekhara Acarya, Mukunda Datta, and Jagadananda pursued Him through the jungle. Sometimes while running He would suddenly fall on the ground and begin to cry, "Krsna, Krsna!" Getting up suddenly. He began running—without any apparent direction—to the north, east, west and south.SSM Gauwa pwemanadi harrriii bol! Nyyyyyy anyone for a Vrndavan lassi? There's a place near Bunki Biharis that has xquisite product. Don't miss it, nor BB's dharsan
  6. Keep 'em coming Arvind Prabhu, we hear you. [This message has been edited by dasanudas (edited 09-22-2001).]
  7. Vewy scarewy Mel made me rethink my childhood bedtime stories. This reminds me of a song by a little known Poet-singer of the 70's called Tim Buckley. He put one album out called 'Happy Sad' Where he expressed in one song 'The movies pave a chaos tale' which I keep getting replays of all the time. Basicly it is something Srila Sridhara Maharaj stated that, "if you can think it within your consciousness, it is possible" Then when I see all these movies that are released to take us on a white knuckle ride thru terror, is it any wonder that some naive or maladjusted minds in some faraway land can't differentiate between reality and the movies. So you have cliffhangers trying to defy gravity hanging vertically upside down, only when imitated in reality you just fall to the ground DOA. And because in movieworld they're running out of themes to push the edge they cook up bizarre tales to take the audience one step further over that edge. Maybe what some western filmakers in their fertile imaginations don't understand is the mind of some little Arabian boy who may have been brought up in the desert on a volatile mix of hashish and poppysap, child molestation, and Arabian nights. Could translate into some horror story when fuelled by the misconception of martyredom and the promise of virgins in heaven. Of course western culture if you'd call it that, isn't that far removed from this either. As Srila Sridhara Maharaj has told 'Your world is in your mind" It all rests in consciousness, this is why we are advised to fill it with the beauty of Krsna and Mahaprabhus ways. Hare Krsna. Scarewy prabhu!
  8. Your words have just inspired a vision of a starving mystic dancing around a fire in the Aussie red heart to the pulse of the digeridoo. Chanting "make my koans koanea" We know you have your laptop with you Tal. We'd never talk behind your back mate it's unCanadian, can't speak for the Aussies tho!
  9. Dear Mr Valaya I sympathize with you if you were a victim of ignorance in the Viet Nam homecoming. That's not my point If America claims to be truly democratic it should just recognize the choices of those who don't wish to engage in the conflict and let their own concience be the judge, not the environment that may crucify them for it. There are many ways to serve this cause, prahbu you could get a job as a pastor giving spiritual solace, wisdom and strength. Many men of God empower soldiers on the battlefield with resolve and true grit to face the enemy, with God overhead and assurance within. I understand that is what you are about here so go for it mate, Krsna did. Don't mistake where I'm coming from. I emphaticly agree on the thrust of the mission. I have a few reservations on some areas of detail, but its not my call. And I except the leaders decisions to route 'em out by the root, I even accept there may be many civilians lost in the process, but it must be brought to a head, for everyone concerned. We, like America down here in Oz are being ravaged within, by aggressive covert agenders and many of our naive residents don't understand the far reaching effects of this misconception. But they're having to do a crash course in reality of late.
  10. Question: Does the burning bush talk thru the prophet or the prophet talk thru the burning bush?

Just as it's hard to keep RadhaKrsna concealed in the pristine heart of the devotee, so too no secrets can hide in a heart of Truth. For very long anyway.
  12. When will we ever all wish well of each other and get on with the life we seemed to have lost. I know for a fact that there are a number of Srila Govinda Maharajas disciples that work within the Rainbow network Prabhus. They have done a lot of ground work in attracting them to Krsna Consciousness which most of them have a natural affinity for, many I find are far more spiritually developed than many within the KC fold. Quite a few have taken Srila GM dharsan (You know what they say the rainbow leads to) and some have even taken initiation from him. They see themselves as warriors of the heart, and fight a different war trying to preserve the environment so our soldiers might still have a ground to fight on. And just because they look for the loving alternative, doesn't automaticly make them an enemy of the state. The majority of them are true vegetarians, and they don't blow up abatoirs or anything else that i know of. They represent a symbol we all could benefit from, the end of the hard rain of body parts, many devotees have served their apprentiships in these camps before taking full time to KC, and Srila Prabhupad gathered his troops from the likes of these people. They are generally mad about kirtan and will stay up all night chanting if someone starts one. I find them as ideal candidates for Bhakti just as Srila Prabhupad did. Many of them are extremly talented, and very enlivening to be with. I don't know what their agenda is, but i don't think they are trying to undermine anyones morale to fight terrorism in all its insidious forms, they abhorr it like most of us. And I respect their choice not to fight, like Uddhava, as much as I do the choice to fight for righteous causes like Balaram. Yours in the service of the devotees and the Jivas dasanudas

  14. We look forward to your return from the 'burning bush', and sharing with us what it tells you. What if it asks you to stay for a month?
  15. Nice little treasure trove of quotations BV the real work is in practicing them. May we all find the strength to practice what all the great souls are imploring. I need to be constantly reminded from the guidance of the higher loving agents lest I listen to this conflicting mind. Hare Krsna
  16. Damn!I just lost a two hour compilation that had all the answers to solve the whole worlds dilemna. Oh well looks like we'll have to struggle on for a while longer. If anyone sees it floating in cyberspace, submit it for us. Thanks.
  17. If only there was more of this attitude there wouldn't be terrorists in the first place. We can all turn quite terrible when we don't recognise the beauty within.
