Debbie, If you order canned food or jar food - order a brand that is packaged in the U.S. for example Nirav brand is very good. I had some bad experiences with some that was packaged in India. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif No problem with the papads though. It is good to be back. I went away for the summer and stayed longer than expected and there was no internet. JayaRadhe is at her mother's house to be close to the hospital and doctors. She does not have a computer there and I am missing her daily association very very much! I plan to call her in the next day or so and will let her know that you were asking about her. She is going through a lot right now and she is in my prayers also.

I do that too!! I love to cook them that way - better than fried.

I'm also not opposed to them writing their own books but to change Prabhupada's books or to say that His writings are detrimental to the spread of Krsna Consciousness is a gross offense. I have read many books by disciples of Prabhupada that were wonderful and greatly helped my enthusiasm being right in line with Prabhupada's teachings. I have tried to encourage a few who have not written their memoirs etc yet to please do so that the rest of us can share their beautiful memories of Prabhupada and His teachings and of how it was in the beginning. I have heard that when some of Prabhupada's disciples object to the changes - then life is made difficult for them. No wonder there are so many of Prabhupada's disciples who do not step foot into the temples anymore and do the best they can to serve on their own.

Where and when will it stop? The attitude is "I was not too long ago a meat-eating, drug ingesting, intoxicant addicted demon and now after a few short years I know more and better than my life-long vaisnava spiritual master. Come follow me for I am politically correct". I am sickened by this. It was one thing when the little splinter groups were campaigning for the ridiculous changes but now within Prabhupada's organization!!

I have been in that area and a lot of their tourist economy is derived from the Big Foot thing - they even have a festival!!! Wonder what will happen now. A lot of gift shops are going to shut down.

Also, has every audio ever made of Prabhupada - bhajans, lessons, classes etc etc plus the Complete written works of Srila Prabhupada - all for $98.00. I got the package in record time all the way to the U.S. from Australia. It is high quality and worth so much more than was spent. It is BLISS!!! Hope I don't sound like I am advertising it - but I really do recommend this. I had no problem watching the vcd's on either my pc or my laptop. You can use Windows media player or your dvd.

I don't really know much about this particular situation but my understanding is that when the Muslims invaders came into India eons ago they tore down Hindu temples and built mosques on those spots. Could it be some kind of on-going revenge thing? Prabhupada tells of getting caught in an Hindu-Muslim riot when he was a child and trying to get home.

Apparently psoriatic arthritis is often misdiagnosed as rheutmatiod arthritis. People with psoriatic arthritis often develop psoriasis either before the onset of the arthritis or after. It also causes tendon damage for example I am unable to close my right hand - cannot curl the fingers. The fingers and toes affected take on a sausage like appearance at times. There is extreme exhaustion (and I mean extreme!!) and a feeling of having the flu quite often. It affects the eye sight which is something that is happening to me right now. It can also affect internal organs such as the gallbladder. It is a very rare form of auto-immune arthritis and the treatments are hit and miss. As they say doctors "practice medicine".

Both my father and my aunt (his sister) got TB at the same time when they were in high school back in the early 1940's. It was curable then so it is definitely curable now. Lots of fresh air was part of the prescription then - sunshine and fresh air. I agree follow a doctor's instructions on this one.

Being unable to digest cow's milk - I use soy milk. It is a developed taste for the most part and I really do like it and enjoy having a tall glass ice cold. As for soy cheese - it makes me gag!! literally. Soy burgers are good if made with nice spices but avoid most commericial brands because they use egg and onions. Mostly I stick to just the soy milk and use it also as a milk replacement in reciepes. It is high in protein and low in cholesteral. The high protein count might be what is bad for the infants - not sure.
