  1. Thank you Maitreya. I was searching for this myself and was happy to find it posted here when I came back.
  2. Although you are entitled to your opinion I started this thread based on the glory of Srila Prabhupada's writings and teachings. I did not start this thread for it to become another offensive thread of mundane garbage. Please take your opinion elsewhere. This is not the time nor the place to post this.
  3. This was on another forum site and thought it should also be posted here. Srila Prabhupada asked the devotee, 'can you quote the verse?' They could not. Srila Prabhupada said, "Just see - you are not reading my books. You have to read my books and you have to study and learn my books just like a lawyer learns the law books. You must know everything chapter and verse. If you do not know, how will you teach these men unless you know my books. Every day you have to read my books. Do you know that every day even I read my own books? Do you know why I read my books? I read my books everyday because even I learn something new when I read them. Do you know why I learn something new when I read my books? Because these books are not my books - I do not write these books. Every morning when I sit here to write my books Krsna comes personally and he dictates to me what to write, so I simply take dictation from Krsna and I write these books. Therefore when I read them even I learn something."

    VNN?

I came in here this morning to as the same question!! I haven't been able to access vnn since yesterday.
  6. I would like to see at least that part of the show - when will it be on again?
  7. A couple of years ago a man moved in next door to where I used to live - he had a wild mustang (horse) tattooed on half of his face! This guy was 60 or so years old and it looked like it had been there a while. The art work work was nice but....eew - the pain!! Also, I knew this woman that her whole body was tattooed - all except her face, hands and feet - I mean solid tattoos like printed fabric. Again, nice art but why?
  8. I kinda curious about the tatto thing too. I am not inclined to puncture myself with needles. Just curious - especially after seeing some of the Krishna youth with their tattoos. Good one Maitreya - tattoo tilak on your face! Glad you are joking! ouch!
  9. In light of the presidential florida vote fiasco - waco reno probably figures that she has the best chance of winning there.
  10. I was just coming back in to express the same concern. Also, with the issue of images on sarees - at some point in the wearing the images will either touch the floor, be sat on or witness offensive actions ie the bathroom or whatever else might be going on in around us. I too will not wear these type of garments.
  11. It's not easy being the town idiot! I think I feel another divine revelation coming on!
  12. Actually, you will be burning off calories before and during the cooking process. It takes energy to gather the ingredients and then all that stirring - well... you burn off half a pound before you even eat it so guess what? You don't gain anything!! Disclaimer: this applies only to the cook - all others will gain according to input. [This message has been edited by livingentity (edited 09-02-2001).]
  13. Com'n - everybody knows that cream, whole milk and sugar do not make you fat!! This is obviously a low-cal receipe - right Gauracandra?
  14. Now you got me thinking about burfi and saffron pudding - and guess what there is no store out here in the sticks!! aarrrrrrrrgh!!!
  15. This sounds like it would work also with variations; for example sub the saffron for a few drops of rose essence. Any other ideas?

  17. Taliban targets international aid groups -- NDTV Correspondent Sunday, September 2, 2001 (Kabul): Foreign aid workers who were expelled by the Taliban for allegedly preaching Christianity in this devoutly Muslim nation and left Afghanistan on Saturday morning reached neighbouring Pakistan late on Saturday. On Friday, Afghanistan's hardline Islamic rulers shut down the US-based International Assistance Mission (IAM), which began its work in impoverished Afghanistan in 1965. Almost 50 workers -- mostly Americans were expelled. IAM, which operates eye hospitals, clinics and food-related programs throughout the country, had been nervous for some time now about the Taliban's investigations. IAM's foreign and Afghan workers said they were worried that they would be the next international aid group to be targeted. Many of the Afghan staff of IAM had been staying at home, fearing arrest by the Taliban. The international aid organization SERVE, which operated shelter and health-related aid projects, was also closed down. The latest action against relief groups comes as Taliban prepares to try eight foreign aid workers: two Americans, two Germans and four Australians, for allegedly spreading Christianity among Afghans. The jailed workers, who were working with Shelter Now International, were arrested nearly a month ago, along with 16 Afghan staffers. The penalty for proselytizing Christianity in Afghanistan is jail and expulsion for a foreigner. For an Afghan though, the penalty is death.
  18. Well, this guy was Ronald MacDonald! Have you ever seen his website?
  19. Exactly, who could argue with that sweet little baby hand! Anyone who ever considers abortion should be shown that picture.
  20. I cannot tolerate football because of the past trauma of watching a grown-man (my step-father)reduced to a screeching maniac every Sunday afternoon! I sort of thought the same thing about the birth-control thing - it actually seems that tv would give people ideas! Not to mention the cost! Go figure!
