Yep - they've finall done a new series after 16 years... although no US TV station has brought it - if you were in Australia, Canada or Korea you could see it, but apparently not the US! Guest guest Report post Posted June 7, 2005 Hi Nikki It's a new series - updated. Christopher Eccleston is the Dr and Billie Piper his assistant. It is very good. It has kept a lot of the original Dr Who feeling, but has better 'monsters' and effects. On the Dr Who list all the Americans are really sad that it's not being shown in the States. Caada has it (sensible people) and I believe Australia is either showing it or going to. Guest guest Report post Posted June 7, 2005 It seems to be an ideal location for filming. I liked the water fall/building whatever it was. I'm getting cross with the pheasants who keep walking all over my newly planted annuals. Guest guest Report post Posted June 8, 2005 Hi Nikki (With a note to anyone who doesn't want to know about the new Dr Who to look away now) > So is it any good? How " new " is it? Sometimes they re-make things > and you wish you never saw it. Does it have any of the " old " > enemies? How do they look? > C'mon, tell me! I want to know. I HAVE to know! OK, keep calm... I think it's excellent - nicely scary in places (particularly the little boy looking for his mother), a bit of humour, generally good traditional Dr Who, but updated a bit - better special effects, moves a bit quicker than some of the old stories. They've had one episode so far with a Dalek (and I gather that there will be Daleks in the last two episodes, which haven't yet been shown) - the " new " Dalek is very similar to the old, but has a rotating gun section, and much more effective weaponry (and can sucker people to death)... and it has a nice levitation technique that was only briefly seen in the original series. And they had Autons in the first episode, but that one was a little rushed as they were introducing a whole load of new characters. The only other hint of " old " enemies was the head of a cyberman in a museum. (Although there's rumours that Cybermen might be back in the next series). Guest guest Report post Posted June 8, 2005 Hi Nikki Very new - they finished filming it a couple of months ago, and have just started another series for next year. It is quite updated. The Dr is wearing a leather (unfortunately) jacket with a black jumper under it and jeans - Rose, the assistant, wears what every 28 year old wears and has long blond hair. The Daleks have appeared in one episode so far and have been updated - they now look threatening and a bit scarey. We have had Slitheens, who kill people and live in their skin while trying to blow up Earth for scrap sales, ghosts, and an Empty Child.
