Welcome Susi,

I used to live in Franklin, Maine, on Hog's Bay, equidistant between

Hi Susie, you sound like a very energetic person. Nice having you with us.

What's growing in your garden now? I have a huge area of pansies I rescued

from the drugstore. They were outside on a rack and almost dead. I talked to

the store manager and he said, take as many as you want, I'm going to trash them

since we forgot to water them. These things are giant and not one looks the

same, so many colors.

Looking forward to your posts and let us know if you have any recipe requests

or questions.

Welcome :) Whereabouts in Iowa? My G'pa was born in Tama and I spent

Ew gross. That stuff is so gross. It's no wonder they don't like

that. I am a hard core vegetarian and my bf is a carnivore some of

the ways that I get meat out of his mind and feed him healthy stuff

like beans is do twists on his old favourites. For example we both

love Mexican, so refried beans are a great way to dress it up for

nachos, fajitas, taco's, etc. My mom also makes a spegetti sauce

using fake ground-beef which is pretty good. I also put chickpeas in

salad's and either chick peas or kidney beans in a stew. Just get

creative if they see you are working really hard they will have to be

at least a little supportive which gives you more time to look up more

recipes. Try picking up a vegetarian cook book too (I recomend Betty

Croker.

Good Luck!!

Hi, I'm Sue and just joined the group...thanks! We are slowly converting

to

vegetarian meals with 2 or 3 each week for supper. It is a slow process

since meat has been a big part of our lives thus far. I am hoping to

incorportate some of your great recipes into our menus!

Hi, April from Pa. I am Sue from Ga. My husband and I are not completely

vegetarians yet, but we are working on it. And ours is mainly for health

reasons, although when we walk the dogs in the morning, we go past the

pasture with the cows. Uh...we talk to them everyday. It would be pretty

hard to eat a burger or a steak since we moved to here.

Welcome to the group.

Hello everyone. I just joined the group in hopes of getting more

information about the vegetarian lifestyle. Also I am looking forward

to learning about vegetarian cooking, mainly for health reasons. My

fiancee and I are not vegetarian, but I am trying to incorporate

vegetarian meals in our diet. We do have a few good friends that are

either vegetarian or vegan. Thanks in advance for all the great recipes

I will be trying. I already have a vegetarian recipe that I will be

making on Sun for my coworkers. Maybe this will lead to a new lifestyle

for us.

Sue,

Thanks for the welcome. Glad to hear I am not the only one who is not

completely a vegetarian. We have a lot of farms around our house, so

I also talk to the cows, and other farm animals. I esp love talking

to my ducks. We have quite a few families of ducks that come into our

yard for some food and a rest. They all eventually get named. I

thought I was the only one who talks to the animals. My neighbors

think I am nuts.

Thanks, Audrey, for suggesting such a fantastic site. I've put a link

in the LINKS section of the list website, in the RECIPES link file,

rawfood/links/recipes

and I plan to start working my way through the recipes there right away.

BTW, for newbies and all others: On the list website:

rawfood

we have OUR OWN FANTASTIC COLLECTION OF RECIPES contributed by members

over the years, or found in my own travels across the internet.

Recipes found at other websites which offer recipes free for the

downloading are so annotated, to allow you the opportunity to visit

interesting sites and find even more recipes (as well as keep the

owners and authors happy)

Happy browsing!

Hi Kristin,

I created this easy recipe when my dentist told me to hold off on leafy salads

becsue of a TMJ problem.

Chopped Salad

5 each broccoli and cauliflower florets

1/4 small onion

5 baby carrots

1/2 red bell pepper

dressing: 1tbsp olive oil

1 tsp apple vinegar

1 tsp raw honey

Chop first four ingredients in food processor until pieces are very small

(almost like a tabouli). Empty into salad bowl. Shake dressing ingredients in

small container and pour over salad. Garnish with kalmata olives and a few

pieces of chopped tomato and cucumber.

Enjoy

Welcome!

The files section of this group has some excellent recipes. My favorite is

cashew " cheese " and I think its found under nut pate or some thing like that.

It was originally posted by Tommie (jerusy), which should help you narrow it

down to the right one.

It is super easy, super fast, and tastes yummy!

Another place that I visit often for ideas is Judy's blog

www.mawintheraw.blogspot.com

Her recipes tend to be a bit more complex, but tasty.

Hi Gymmie

Welcome! I have to ask - what's it like being vegan in Texas? I'm sure the view we generally get of Texas in the UK is a bit warped, but it always seems like the sort of place where vegetables aren't generally considered food... so, I'm intrigued as to whether our long distance perspective is anywhere close to reality?

I saw your myspace. It looked cool.

i did a myspace for myself, but I only have one friend, Tom

I haven't found a good picture of myself to put up and the graphics
