  1. Radhe Krishna, "Swaha" is a shabhdha utilised while giving an Aahuthi while performing a havanam although there are exceptions where it is used in other circumstances. One should hear very intently as to how it is pronounced. Normally it is pronounced in a swara called "Deergasvaritham". Radhe Krishna
  2. Radhe Krishna<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:" /><o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> The complete krishna katha is found only in Shrimad Bhagavatham. To be precise, as per Shrimad Bhagavatham, Shri Krishna had 16008 wives. Starting from the vivaha of Rukmini, Shrimad Bhagavatham narrates in details the Ashta Mahishi vivaha. Shri Krishna married the first eight wives in the eight types of vaidika vivaha approved in scriptures for Kshathriyas.<o:p></o:p> In the 61st Adyaya of Dashmaskanda, it is described that the 16000 ladies married shri krishna.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Tathra Rajanya kanyaanaam shatsahasradhikayudham<o:p></o:p> Bhoumahathanaam vikramya rajabhyo dadhrushe hairhi 33<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> tam pravishtam sthriyo veekshya naraviram vimohithaha <o:p></o:p> manasa vavrire abheeshtam pathim daivopasadhitha 34<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> You will not find every incident in the avataraa of Shri krishna in every puraanaa or epic. But that can not be the basis for considering or not considering the incident, my dear friend shvu.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> in the adyayas following, Shri Narada comes to see how shri krishna performs gruhastha dharma with all the 16008 wives and become astonished at shri krishna taking 16008 forms performing Deva pooja in one house, Agnihotram in another, Punyahavachanam in another house and so on and so forth.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> The episode of shri krishna taking 16008 forms and performing gruhastha dharma in all the 16008 households - similar to what one could find in Raasaleela - taking that many number of forms as to that many number of Gopis in Raasa - These are amaanushya leela. Ofcourse, one can describe these episodes in a vedantic way - from Advaita, Vishishtadvaita and dvaita purports. But one need not even attempt to get any thread from these episodes for day to day mundane chores of humanbeings simply because these are Amaanushya leela.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Radhe Krishna<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p>
  3. Radhe Krishna, In this type of situations, it is easy to preach about science rather than feeling the problem faced by the sufferer. The midway is the best to approach. There is nothing wrong in meeting a psychiatrist and get therapy or medicines. But yes, ghost is a mystery . Those who were haunted by ghosts know how they suffered. I heard about these things in a few of my friends houses. Stone falling. Cloths laid for drying suddenly getting fire. It would be very difficult to explain these things scientifically. Since, I regularly read Shrimad Bhagawatham, my prescription would also be from Bhagawatham. In Bhagavatha mahatmya from padma purnana, you have the episode of Gokarna vruthantham. His brother Dhundukari, an evil person was killed by his concubines after he was looted of all his wealth. He become a paisacha. Here one should note one important thing. People long to get Darshan of Lord Krishna. It is very difficult to get darshan of lord. Even it is very difficult to get darshan of any Devatha. Same is true with Bhuta preta pisacha. Like God or devathas give darshan only to those who are qualified for that - so is true with these Bhuta preta pisacha. They give darshan to those who are supposed to get it. Those who can help these miserable beings to get rid of their paisacha avastha. Or those week souls whom these ghosts can exploit. Dhundukari appeared before his brother and told him his story and prayed for liberation from pretha avastha. Gokarna asked suryanarayana about this. He was told even 100 gaya shraddha can not liberate his brother. He was adviced to do Bhagavatha sapthaha parayanam. So did gokarna conducted Bhagavatha saptaha and Dhundukari got vimochana. My dear friend, If you yourself can recite Shrimad Bhagavatham in sapthaha krama, that would be the best prescription. You need not worry about offense of mispronounciation. Because it has been clearly mentioned in Bhagawatham that "Yasmin prathishlokam Abadhyavatyapi" God still loves his Bhaktha reciting Shrimad Bhagavatham. Or There is another prescription again from Shrimad Bhagavatham. Narayana Kavacham - I think it is in Shashta Skanda. I dont exactly remember the adyaya. I would post you in the next one. You can recite this Narayana Kavacham also. This would protect you from these miserable happennings and also give you peace of mind and bless you with more krishna Bhakthi. Meanwhile never hesitate consultations with doctors. May Vamshidhara bless you with peace to enable you to concentrate on Krishna Bhakthi. Radhe Krishna.
  4. Radhe Krishna, Even where smruthis are followed for performance of shroutha smartha karmas, manu smruthi is not adhered to since manu smruthi is not applicable for kaliyuga. So there is no question of invoking the same . Radhe krishna
  5. Radhe Krishna, jndasji, Radhekrishna,Hope you would agree that the reference to "Amedhyam" is a general reference and from this you deduce that it includes "meat". There are texts which specifically give instructions for avoiding meat eating. Is there any reference in this regard in "Hari BhaKthi vilasam" Radhe Krishna
  6. Radhe Krishna, Yes, I too have great respect for Bhagawath Geetha, containing of words spoken by shri krishna. But basically its a uttara mimamsa grantha - A pure vedantic grantha. As such, I feel one need not refer to Geetha for mundane things. Meat eating has something to do with your lifestyle. The dos and donts of lifestyles are governed in a detailed way by smruthis for those who look upto them for performing their shroutha smartha karmas. Smartha, Shrivaishnava and Madhwa sampradaya people refer to Aapasthamba, bodayana, Ashwalayana, Drahyayana and katyayana smruthis depending upon their shaka of veda. The issues which are not covered under these are sometimes referred from smruthimukthapalam. For Gaudiya Sampradaya vaishnavas - I think - (They may please correct me if I am wrong) - Hari Bhakthi vilasam gives what a vaishnava should do and should not do. Radhe Krishna
  7. Radhe Krishna, Radhe krishna, narayanadasaji, If my guess is correct - are you from Andhra Pradesh and belong to thenkalai. I need another clarification which I raised in "Shrivaishnava" thread regarding vaishnava lakshanam. Once I heard in pravachanam of Mukkur lakshmi nrusimhacharyar about vaishnava lakshanam. The quote was in tamil "Kokkai pol iruppan, Kozhiyai pol iruppan, uppai pol iruppan, ummai pol iruppan" For this also you please get clarification from your saha vaishnava friends Radhe Krishna "
  8. Radhe Krishna, I need not get into the shoes of anyone else to say that God is one and only one. Upanishad very clearly says : "Sa Ekaha; Saya evamvith" You take any theistic school of India. They steadfastly believe in oneness of God. Although, advaitins believe in formless God, again they indicate to "Advitiya Brahmam". The one and only God. You take, Shrivaishnava, Madwa, Pashupatha, Shaktha, Gaanapathya, Soura - to whom they refer to as "God" may differ - but there would not be any difference in the fact that they refer only one vaidic deity as "God". Its not like as if you have a band of Gods and they have a head. you can refer "Aanandavalli" of Taitriya upanishad where the ladder from manushya to brahmam is narrated. If God is the supreme power, there can not be any prefixes or suffixes. What you refer as demigod,(rather demigods) I steadfastly say they are not at all gods. They are devas. They are as perishable like you and me with only the difference of age. If you can live for hundered years, they have a higher life. Then how can you call them by any yardstick as "God". God is one; only one he is omnipresent he is sath chith ananda. By referring Devathas as demigods, you are unnecessarily increasing their status and by referring "God" as "Godhead" you are downgrading him. Radhe Krishna
  9. Radhe Krishna, The importance of the shabdha "Maa" is explained in two Shri vidya granthas. 1. Lalitha Sahasranamam 2. Devi Bhagavatham The first nama among the 1000 names of Lalitha Mahathripura sundari starts with : "Shri Mathre namaha" In Devi Bhagavatham You would find the following shloka : "Ya devi sarva bhuteshu matru rupena samsthitha namas tasyai nams tasyai namas tasyai namo namaha" Meaning obeisances to the divine mother who is present in everything in the form of mother. And as you also find the nama "mathre namaha" comes first among the 1000 names of devi - You would find what force the "Maa" shabdha has got. Radhe Krishna
  10. Radhe Krishna, What I meant was I do not know it. But as for my knowledge goes the "Peria thirumozhi" of shri vishnuchitha is full of "Shrimad Bhagawatham". In that case there must be reference about this leela also. If you can enquire from your saha shrivaishnava bhakthas - I may get insght to how this was described in Naalayira divyaprabhandam. Radhe Krishna
  11. Radhe Krishna, Once I heard in shri Mukkur Lakshinrusimhacharyar's pravachanam about vaishnava lakshanam. The quote was : "Kokkai pol iruppan, Kozhiyai pol iruppan, uppai pol iruppan, Ummai pol iruppan" - I remember it was a very nice explanation. But Unfortunately do not remember the complete purport. Could any shrivaishnava narrate this so that i am blessed Radhe Krishna
  12. Radhe Krishna, Tantra takes one to the vama marga which is not viewed well in sadhu sampradayas. The best way of leaving something is by way of sticking on to something else which is good. You are already blessed with krishna bhakthi. The following things would surely help : 1. More dedicated chanting 2.reading more krishna bhakthi literature as prescribed by your sampradaya 3.last but not least - try to be in the association of krishna bhakthas who share their experience of krishna bhakthi Radhe krishna
  13. Radhe Krishna, Narayanadasaji, Radhekrishna, It shows that you come from a Sampradaya full of rasikas. Shukacharya says in Bhagawatham - "Pibatha Bhagawatham rasamaalayam muhurahorasikaha bhuvi bhavukaha" Shri krishna is everything for everybody - ofcourse But for me he is rasikagraganya. Do you remember any paasuram of "Vishnuchitha" which describes this beautiful leela? I would like very much to share that with you. Radhe Krishna
  14. Radhe Krishna, Kulapavanaji, Radhe Krishna, your answer - question contains answers. That much time as krishna deems fit would be necessary depending upon the past and present karmas. Vinasham - if i understand it correctly - sort of destructin of body. Since, Krishna's attention is to the soul - it is the question of time - as to how many births the soul is supposed to take - to reach the lotus feet of lord. Again a question for which lord knows the answer better. Radhe Krishna
  15. Radhe Krishna, And subodhini was not a commentary on Bhagawath Geetha but Bhagawatham. Primarily it was a commentary on Dashama Skanda Radhe Krishna
  16. Radhe Krishna, This has been discussed threadbare in Gaudiya discussion fourm. Bangli @ jijaji, gaurhari, Angrezi and so many persons discussed it over there. Sobodhini was not composed by Shridharacharya but Vallabhacharya. Whatever it is, Shridhariya Vyakhyanamm on Shrimad Bhagavatham is the oldest and most referred vyakhyana. Radhe Krishna
  17. Radhe Krishna, Plus Pancha Geetham - Viz., Venu Geetham, Gopika Geetham, Yugala Geetham, Pranaya Geetham and Bhramara Geetham and Raasa Panchadhyayi - sweetest among sweetest. Radhe Krishna
  18. Radhe Krishna, Smarane sukam. 1.That on being born having shown his chathurbuja to devaki vasudeva and then appeared like any other manushya shishu 2.Poothana Moksham 3.Shakatasura Bhanjanam 4.Thrunavartha moksham 5.Agha bhaga prana vimochanam 6.Navaneetha choram 7.Kalia Narthanam 8.Brahma vimohanam 9.Gopi Vasthrapaharanam 10.Govardhanodharanam 11.Yagnya pathni udharanam 11.Rasaleela 12.Maalakaraanugraham 13.Kubjaanugraham 14.Kuvalaya hatham 15.Malla chanoora Bhanjanam 16.Kamsa Vadham 17.Dwaraka nirmanam 17.Rukmini parinayam / Ashtamahishi vivaham 18.Pradyumna Aniruddha vivaham 19.Narakasura vadam 20.Rukmini pranaya kalaham 21.Kuchelopakhyanam 22.Uddhava sandesham 19.Kuchelopakhyanam 20.Santhana gopalam 21.Antardanam I have left many leelas which I could not remember instantly. Every leela from the time he gave darshan to Devaki Vasudeva till he disappeared at prabhasa Kshethra are sweet. One can again and again read them hear them enjoy them. "Vaama bahu krutha vaama kapolo valgitha bruradhararpitha venum Komalangulibhirashritha margam gopya irayathi yathra mukundaha" Radhe Krishna
  19. Radhe Krishna, Yogkriya, Radhe Krishna. If you are really interested in Shiva Bhakthi, it would be better - instead of simply reading the Hindi translation of Shiva Purana - Read the Moola Grantha of Shiva Purana in entirety. Repeat it as many times as you can. That would open so many windows. But this would be helpful if you are in Bhakthi marga in Shiva Bhakthi. Radhe krishna
  20. Radhe Krishna, Sumedhji, I really like the way of your quoting from the puranaas. I would like to make a small correction. Prasthanathrya consist of Bhashya to three literature viz., Dashopanishad, Brahma Sutra and Bhagawath Geetha. All the three Achaaryas belonging to the three basic schools of philosophy viz., Advaita, Vishishtadwaita and Dvaita - Shri Shankaraacharya, Ramanujacharya and Madwacharya wrote commentaries on these three. And none of them wrote any commentary on Vedas. Radhe Krishna
  21. Radhe Krishna, Yes. Vinashaya cha dushkruthaam. I have come across an interesting purport in this regard which I give below. In the above sentence why instead of "Vinaashaya Dushkrutham" it has been mentioned "Vinashaya cha dushkrutham"? It has been explained as below. God actually give opportunity to people indulging in "Dushkrityas" to correct themselves. If the errenous souls correct themselves God does not go for "Vinasham". Had it been "Vinashaya dushkrutham" - It would have been getting rid of all Dushkritya prakruthees. Since it had been "Vinaashaya cha dushkrutam" - Vinasham - only if errenous souls dont rectify themselves. Radhe Krishna
  22. Radhe krishna,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:" /><o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> There was no question of showing any inferiority. I just gave out information as much I know in the context. Scriptural knowledge that was taught to me clearly says wrong pronounciation give bad results. The father of Vruthrasura conducted a yagnya with a wish that he gets a son who can kill indra. Alas . The pronounciation was correct but there was mistake in the swara. That resulted in such a bad manner - rather than getting a son who could kill indra - he got a son who was killed by Inrda.<o:p></o:p> But - But - But - Yes - sincerety and dedication is above anything else. That is strictly between you and your upasya devatha. My father was somachara shaktha upasaka. And I am advicing you in this background.<o:p></o:p> Shakthi upasana consists of somachara and vamachara where vamachara is condemned by vaidikas but it is practiced by a good lot of people. There are many shakthi manthras like Navakshari, Baala, Panchadasakshari, the top of above shodasakshari. In any traditional system, the manthras are not sent by post or stored in computer but are provided to shishyas by Guru through initiation. My humble advice would be that you meet a Guru who would properly help you in this regard.<o:p></o:p> The best way to cry to "Maa Kali" is just to cry "Maa". The single syllabied word "Maa" is such forceful that I am sure that the jaganmatha would answer your cry and properly guide you in the shrividya upasana. I have seen in Calcutta kali mandir many darshanaarthis simply crying "Maa". May Jaganmatha bless us all with bakthi.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Radhe Krishna<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p>
  23. Radhe Krishna, Krishnadasji, Radhe krishna, U may please contribute what u learnt from Bhagavatham. The short meaning of what is described about Shri Hari from 45 to 49 shlokas of ashtama Adhyaya of chathurtha skanda - The ever youthful lord Shri Hari always presents a pleasing look. In his four hands he has Shanka, Chakra, Gadha and Padma. He has decorations from head to toe. Once a person who sees the beautiful roopa by nirvyaja krupa of krishna he can never stretch his mind outside the roopa lavanya. And how Bheeshmacharya praises lord? he says being at sharatalpa (the bed of arrows) - Hey! lord! for the purpose of fulfilling my pratigna - that I would see to it that I would provoke krishna to start applying his arms - You got down from the ratha unmindful of your angavasthra falling down from your body with a posture of applying your chakra - I remember this roopa. See the contrast - a Gnyani like Narada describing the Roopa Lavanya of Bhagawan - And a Kshathriya - Naishtika Brahmachari - Bheesma - describing and enjoying Bhagawan. I feel he is everything to everybody. Radhe Krishna
  24. Radhe Krishna, Do you mean translation? Radhe Krishna
  25. Radhe Krishna, Is there any person who has completely read Hari Bhakthi Vilasam. I happened to read a few chapters from this nectar. I got a print of Moolagrantha. Could I get an English translation of entire grantha? Radhe Krishna
