  1. Radhe krishna, jndasji, ts nice u have backed ur short reply by a lengthy and focussed discussion Radhe krishna
  2. Radhe krishna, I have posted the reply at a wrong thread. i dont know how to edit it. however let me repost it here. Radhe Krishna,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:" /><o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Shri sathya, Radhe krishna, please understand that the topic of discussion is under Gaudiya sampradaya. What is correct and not correct as such here is supposed to be measured as per the yardsticks laid down under Gaudiya sampradaya.<o:p></o:p> Even under smartha sampradaya to which I belong, where we do Panchayatana pooja daily as nithya karma ( a karma performed as per Bhagavath Agnya as nishkamya karma with out any manokamna), the worship is performed with all ritual sincereties. But again when it comes to Upasana one should be steadfast. My father who is no more was a shaktha upasaka and he was so dedicated that from morning till night he was engaged either in Gayathri japa or Shodasakshari japa or reading of Durga Sapthasathi or Soundarya lahari. The topic of discussion whenever he happens to make with anyone would be shaktha upasana and nothing else. I am under Radha krishna upasana. The interest and dedication which i am blessed by Guru and Radha Krishna Yugala - From morning till night my mind is preocuupied with Shrimad Bhagavatham and Radha Krishna Yugala. It does not at all mean that I have disrespect for devathanthara. But my deep dedication for my upasya devatha. Whether it is dhyana, yoga, Atmavichara or Bhakthi - What is very badly required is focussed single minded dedication. Even if i go to shiva temple what i pray before the lord is - bless me with more dedication in my bhakthi. At a time a person can not focus his mind in the upasana of more than one deity. Even Rama krishna paramahamsa who did upasana of many deities - u should remember that at any one point of time - he did upasana of only one deity. That is because upasana very badly requires focus and dedication and no obstacle by way of distraction. If my views in any way offend u sathya pl pardon me.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> jndasji, Radhe Krishna, I feel although this should not have been ur intention a short reply for a deep subject, looked a curt reply<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Radhe Krishna<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p>

  4. Radhe Krishna is it yasoda tamaya or yasoda tanaya Radhe Krishna
  5. Radhe Krishna, If u can read Hindi, u can get it from Gorakpur press. If u r in South India, u can get tamil translation f the same from kanchi kamakoti mutt. But develop ur knowledge in samskrutham and have english or hindi or tamil version as just a support. Radhe Krishna
  6. Radhe Krishna, Sathya, one thing I agree with u that it is sin to mock devotees. But ekagratha is very badly required for bhakthi. U do shiva bhakthi or krishna bhakthi. Bhakthi is bhava based and from binna bhava u can not reap the fruits of bhakthi. Radhe krishna
  7. Radhe Krishna, There were so many discussions as to whether one has to do shiva bhakthi or krishna bhakthi. As i humbly view the issue, it is very simple. If u r dedicated to Lord Shiva, engage in Shiva Bhakthi, Wholeheartedly. If u r dedicated to Lord Krishna, engage in Krishna Bhakthi, wholeheartedly. Paashupatham, the ekagra shiva matham and Shri vaishnavam, the Ekagra vaishnava matham completely condemns the devathanthara bhakthi. Bhakthi per se, with deviations would not then help u to reap the fruits of the bhakthi. Single mindedness and bhava which are prerequisites of bhakthi marga could never never never be attained if one indulge in devathanthara bhakthi. Radhe Krishna
  8. Radhe Krishna, jndasji, the question of offence could be decided from the angle u look into the matter. If shri shivam is a practicing gaudiya vaishnava, then his acharyas or those who have mastery in gaudiya granthas are the proper people to decide upon this issue. From my point of view, as a smartha, although there is no offense, there is certainly lack of dedication. I am sorry to say this shivam. by this way u r neither a dedicated shiva bhaktha nor a dedicated krishna bhaktha. Ur whole life would be insufficient for u to go through Shrimad Bhagavatham, Bhagavath Geetha and a whole lot of Gaudiya sampradaya grantha ratnas like Brhad Bhagavatha kathamrutham, Ujjwala Neelamani, Gopala Champu, Hari Bhakthi Vilasam, Bhakthi Rasamrutha Sindhu, Lalitha Madhavam, Vidagdha Maadhavam, Shat Sandarba - ..... ..... The list is endless. I dont understand as to how u can even deviate from these amrutha saagara. My humble advice would be instead of spending time on seeing TV serial,(Even bhakthi based) U may better spend quality time in Sat sangha. Radhe Krishna.
  9. Radhe Krishna, To me it is not material as to whether lord Rama worshipped Lord Shiva or Lord shiva worshipped Lord Rama. Whom u r worshipping. I am worshipping Lord Krishna and that is the beginning and that is the end. These type of controversial issues and engaging urself in those - i am sorry if i am wrong - deviates ur concentration of ur bhakthi. These, i humbly feel would do no good either for a shiva bhaktha or for a rama bhaktha. Radhe krishna
  10. Radhe Krishna, jndasji, Radhe krishna, next to whitelotus, it seems u r my another companion in remembering Shrimad Bhagavatham. Yes, this episode is in dwadasa skanda of Shrimad Bhagavatham. And it was not actual pralaya. It was manasika pralaya. Rishi markandeya (yes the markandeya who was redeemed from yama by Lord shiva, the mrityunjaya, and blessed with 16years of age for ever) when he got darshan of Lord vishnu, asked what is maya for which the lord answered simply with a smile. Back in dhyana, the rishi experienced the pralaya and himself getting being thrown and chcuked in pralaya jala. when helpless, to his astonishment he saw this beautiful balakaa chewing his thumb finger of his leg floating on a leave of vata vrksha. There is a beautiful shloka - outside Shrimad Bhagavatham "Kararavindena padaravindam mukaravinde viniveshayantham vatasya pathrasya pute sayanam balam mukundam manasa smarami" I hope this verse does not need any translation. This is simply a reproduction of the beautiful picture posted above. Thank u thanks a lot Narayanadasa for giving me an opportunity to : 1. Remember the episode from Shrimad Bhagavatha 2. to enjoy the picture of Balamukunda 3. to remember the shloka which my grandmother taught me when I was a child. Very happy, very very happy. Radhe Krishna.
  11. Radhe Krishna, A vaishnavaite, if he go through shiva purana would find umpteen things offensive. Same thing with other Shaiva paksha puranas and Shaktha paksha puranas. Same is true with Shaivaites. If they go through vaishnava paksha puranas they would find upteen things offensive. Now my question is why do u go for cross references. If u worship vishnu, read, Ramayana, Shrimad Bhagavatham, Bhagavath Geetha, Vishnu purana, padma purana and other vaishnava paksha puranas. If u r a shaivaite u read shaiva paksha puranas. Be sincere in ur dedication. That would give u the fruits of bhakthi. In smartha sampradaya, we daily pray that "Aakashath pathitham thoyam yatha gachathi sagaram sarvadeva namaskaraha keshavam prathi gachathi" like the waters of rivers reach ultimately the sea, the obeisance one pays to any and every devatha ultimately reaches Keshava. Radhe Krishna
  12. Radhe Krishna, Radhe Krishna, White lotus, whereever we meet, the topic of discussion becomes knowingly or unknowingly - Shrimad Bhagavatham. But I am very happy about it and I enjoy spelling every akshara from Shrimad Bhagavatham. U would find dwaraka nirmanam in dashama skanda of Shrimad Bhagavatham. After kamsa vadha and annointment of Shri Ugrasena as Raja of Mathura, the city was frequently attacked by Jarasandha. Frequent war means frequent disturbance for the subjects - in spite of the fact that every war was won by the people of Mathura. To have peaceful existence for his subjects, Lord Krishna created Dwarakapuri. After Shri Krishna brought Rukmini from Vidharbha, their marriage took place in Dwarakapuri. With the sankalpa of Lord Krishna, the sad end of Yadavas also took place in Prabhasa Kshethra near Dwarkapuri. The Yadavas under the influence of Alchohol fought with each other and got self liquidated at Prabhasa Kshethra. All these vruthantha, u would find in utharardha of dashama skanda of Shrimad Bhagavatham. Dwarka is also listed as one of the saptha Mokshapuri: "Ayodhya Mathura Maya Kashi Kanchi Avanthika Puri Dwaravathi chaiva sapthaithe Moksha dayaikaha" The cities, Ayodhya, Mathura, Haridwar (Mayapuri), Kashi, Kanchi, Avanthika (Ujjain) and Dwarakapuri are listed in the prathasmaraneeya Mokshapuris. Radhe Krishna
  13. Radhe Krishna, Dear friend, who quoted about Godhead. I would suggest a simple correction. Its understandable that u consider Gopiprananatha as the God above all. But If that is the spirit, I do not agree with the contradictory approach of Godheads and demigods. Whether it is impersonalism or monotheism - God is one. It is not like as such there are a band of gods and he has a head. If u see from the purport of Bible or Koran - what u call demigods in Vaidika religion - what u have as angels or jins in Bible or koran - u have devathas (sorry i dont agree with the description - demigod). If u accept a tatva as god - all else are devathas. You can not simply add the suffix of God to devathas. (This I am explaining from a monotheistic view point). Devathas are just another species like human beings who are superior to humans. There are many species like devathas, Gandharvas, Kimpurushas etc., Bhagavath shabdha can be attributed to only one only one and only one. If u apply the suffix "God" to devathas u r not just pumping up their status but downgrading the status of "God". And to call Lord Krishna as "Godhead" is a further downgradation of the supreme Lord. You are like making him a leader of band of gods. Radhe Krishna
  14. Radhe Krishna, Dear smartha guest, while exchanging ideas with others, please maintain the smartha hallmark of humility. Yes, I agree at times due to blatant baseless attacks one may loose patience. But still patience is the bhushana which were shown by smartha bhakthas like thyagaraja, Shridhara Ayyawal, Marudanallur Sadguru Swamigal. And if u think that a person could not comprehend the vedic purport, never never never go on explaining what is vedic purport. And please never say bhakthi is for ignorants. Because, the three great purushas I have mentioned and Bhagavannama Bodendra who established bhakthi through vedic purport were not at all ignorants but prakanda vidwans. Whether in Bhakthi marga or in Atma vichara, what makes us different from other vaidikas is our steadfast adherence to smruthis - which are Bhagavath Agnya. I have seen vaidika vaishnava sects web sites wherein the acharyas are requesting their sishyas not to miss the performance of nithyakarmas. It is a sorry phase that people in the name of doing bhakthi - krishna bhakthi - blatantly defies Bhagavath Agnya. But I am happy there are souls still available to remind people to obey the orders of the lord. Radhe Krishna
  15. Radhe Krishna, Thank u jndasji. The basic prerequisite in worship of God, be it Karma marga, bhakthi marga or Gnana marga is development of Atmagunas. This includes Sincerety, honesty, patience, vinayatha, Soulabhyam, Sousheelyam and other Atmagunas. In the life and time of all bhakthas u would find the these shining qualities. Be it, the six goswamy sishyas of Mahaprabhu, Shri Thyagaraja, Kabir, Rahim, Raskan, Eknath, Thukaram - u name anybody - u would find their lives filled with shining qualities. Lord Krishna expects his bhakthas - Mahaprabhu trained his sishyas - in nurturing of good qualities. It is not important whether one is doing shiva bhakthi or krishna bhakthi - it is very much important as to how one is engaged in bhakthi. only nurturing of good qualities would give Chitha shudhi and only on Chitha shudhi one can attain the lotus feet of Lord Hari. Radhe Krishna
  16. Radhe Krishna, Dear Yogkriya and dear guest, this is the thread where discussion is taking part about Shrimad Bhagavatham. It would be nice if u contribute something in that direction. Who is superior to whom may be discussed in someother thread. Pl dont deviate from the topic of the thread. "Sankethyam paarihasyam va sthobam helana mevava" In Ajamilopakhyanam, the greatness and simplicity in chanting the name of Lord Hari is explained. Even if some soul chants the name in the pretext of calling someone or if a person utters the name of Hari even by way of ridiculing some one or chants the name while doing housecores and chatting inbetween - still the merciful lord blesses his devotees efforts - atleast to chant his name.
  17. Radhe Krishna, Hi, shivam and JN das, i belong to smartha sampradaya, where we do panchayatana puja. But in spite of it, Sagunopasana devatha is one and only one for the purpose reaping the fruits of bhakthi. In devatha upasana, Ekagra bhakthi is very much required to completely surrender urself at the feet of god u worship. Although puja is offered to all the five deities viz., Shiva, Vishnu, Ganesha, Surya and Durga, when it comes to upasana, we steadfastly surrender ourselves to the one God who is the upasya devatha. Plus the upasana marga also differs depending upon the upasya devatha. For example, those who engage in shaktha upasana are very much invloved in manthra sadhana and go in the route of ashtanga yoga. This is the most difficult path which requires very dedicated efforts. Even a small slip would give immense harm. Mispronounciation of manthras are not left lightly. In Upasana of Shiva and Vishnu Bhakthi is the upasana marga. Again, only from a smartha platform one does shiva bhakthi with bhakthi as the upasana marga. In all other Shiva upasana margas, again the content is manthra saadhana and yogabhyasa which are very carefully followed and are very difficult in this kali yuga. In vishnu upasana, the path is very simple and is totally bhakthi based. Innumerable bhakthas cutting across so many sampradayas have worshipped Lord Rama, Lord Krishna and his other incarnations through bhakthi marga (Although there are also examples of great saints who have attained lord vishnu through yogabhyasa and manthra saadhana). Here lord takes care of every soul who even once wish to reach the lotus feet of God. Mispronounciation of God's name in nama japa is not frowned upon by Lord Vishnu. When valmiki did his rama nama japa as "Mara Mara", god lovingly took it as "Rama Rama". Such is the simplicity in vaishnava bhakthi upasana. Furhter, in Shrimad Bhagavatha, it is explained that a person who reads the grantha in a fashion "Yasmin prathishlokam Abadhyavatyapi" meaning even if a soul recites Shrimad Bhagavatha, by reading even every shloka with mispronounciation lord krishna lovingly accepts the efforts of his devotee and bless him with exalted krishna bhakthi. The same with rama bhakthi. But in nutshell "Ekagra Bhakthi" is very much very much very much needed which ever god u worship. Radhe Krishna
  18. Radhe Krishna, There need not be any confusion. You should be steadfastly worship one god. This does not at all mean u have disrespect for another. If u worship a god - it means a very deep thing. U should recite holy granthas. do nama kirthan. do japa. engage in satsanga. if u engage in this systematic way, u would find ur concentration completely submerged in the worship of only one god. Be it shiva or vishnu. to worship one god and maintaining ekagratha in worship would only give u fruits of worshiip. then teleserials. i am sorry these are highly commercialised and does not give proper purport of any purana. rather than wasting ur time in viewing teleserials, read holy granthas. if u engage in krishna bhakthi, read Shrimad Bhagavatham, Bhagavath Geetha. If u r a ramabhaktha, read Valmiki Ramayana. But for one thing, maintain ekagratha. Worshiip one god and with dedication. All else are devathas. U need not indulge in nindha of other devathas. whenever u happen to go to a temple of other devatha, pray that u get bhakthi of ur god. Radhe Krishna
  19. Radhe Krishna, Hi white lotus, I dont know anything about u. But one thing I find very much common - passion for Shrimad Bhagavatham. I am so passionate about the Grantha. Do u recite it regularly. It is a wonderful experience to recite Shrimad Bhagavatham. Every word and every shloka in it is nectar. If it is said that that Shrimad Bhagavatham is Lord krishna himself what to speak of the grantha. And are u worried about mistakes committed while pronouncing the shlokas. It is explained in Bhagavatha itself "Yasmin prathisholkam abhadhyavatyapi" Even if u pronounce each and every shloka with mistakes, the dear lord still loves it. Radhe krishna
  20. Radhe Krishna, Ravilochan,Radhe krishna I am writing back to insist just one point. As already penned, i dont know whehter u have out and out gone through shankara Bhashya. I am a krishna bhaktha. As I told already, I am so from a smartha platform. Now just admit swearing upon the most loved krishna (if u love krishna) whether really u have gone through thoroughly the shankara bhashya at the first instance before starting comments on that. Next, first of all know what a smartha mean before ever commenting shankaracharya is not a smartha. This is simply blasphemous. The phenomena which differentiate shankara from ramanujacharya and madhvacharya is apart from philosophical differences his steadfastly sticking on to smruthis and not prescribing anything in addition to smruthis as have been done by the other two aacharyas. And this aspect brands us as smarthas although Shrivaishnavas and Madhvas also follow same set of smruthis. Coming to ur question of why no soul here is specifically answering ur out of context quotations - it is a waste of time. Atleast if u discuss - not debate - advaita, vishistadvaita-dvaita - there would be some sense in that. Then ur bluff that sthothra granthas composed by shankara was not of his. This is creating sensation and nothing else. Some time back there were such sensational nuisance by saying that Uttara kanda of Ramayana was not penned by Valmiki and the Dwadasa Skanda of Shrimad Bhagavatha was not at all there and this was latter addition. Ur argument about Shankara Sthothra granthas fall in this category. If at all u r krishna bhaktha, discuss krishna bhakthi. Radhe krishna
  21. Radhe Krishna,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:" /><o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> You have given a nice quotation from dwitiya skanda of Bhagavatha, whitelotus. Every Akshara, every shloka of Shrimad Bhagavatha is nectar.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Shrimad Bhagavathakyoyam prathyakshaha krishna eva hi<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> meaning Shrimad Bhagavatham is Lord Krishna himself<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> I use to recite Shrimad Bhagavatham in a cycle of two ekadashis and also am writing the scripture. Every time i complete my cycle of recitation, I start it with new vigour. The more and more u read it - the more and more windows open. it is an experience to cherish.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> take this from kunthi sthuthi<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> "vipadaha santhu tah saswath tatra tatra jagadguro<o:p></o:p> Bhavatho darshanam yatsyat apunarbhava darshanam"<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> kunthi prays bhagwan, bless me with difficulties. Becuase whenever I am in difficulties I can not but remember u. If getting dfficulties result in rememberance of u then I would welcome difficulties.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Pibatha Bhagavatham muhuraho rasikaha Bhuvi Bavukaha<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Radhe Krishna<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p>
  22. Radhe Krishna,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:" /><o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> The name of lord shiva is clearly mentioned in Yajur Veda. In the middle of Shri Rudram you would find the verse "Nama Shivayacha".<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Shri Veda Vyasa only compiled and divided the vedas for the purpose of proper implementation of the same in performance of yagyas. Every major yagya is performed with scholar from all the three vedas each one of them having separate roles in the performance of yagyas.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> about a 100 shakas (Branches) of yajur veda only one is available now. of about 1000 shakas of sama veda only 3 is availablel now. about a 100 and odd shakas of rig veda only 1 is available now.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Veda vyasa did not compose the vedas but compiled them.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> A clear study of vedas would reveal that not only shiva, <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> but Shiva, Vishnu, Ganesha, Surya, Shakthi all of them find repetitive references in vedas.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Regarding puranas - in Every purana, (puranas written as per purana lakshanas all of which should be available in every purana - one among them is shrishti varnana - how the universe and living beings are created) - there are details about the creation<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> All the puranas composed by veda vyasa who is an incarnation of lord vishnu.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> It is said that <o:p></o:p> "Vyasaya vishnu roopaya vyasa rupaya vishnave"<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> From the puranas composed by Veda Vyasa - depending upon the purana one takes for interpretation - one can comfortably argue that Shiva or Vishnu or Ganesha or Surya or Shakthi or Even Skanda has created the world and all the deities including those other than the main deity of the purana.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> In shiva purana it is shiva who has created everything including lord vishnu<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> In Vishnu Purana it is lord vishnu who has created eveerything including lord shiva<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> likewse it goes.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> So who created whom is rather a matter of interpretation and depends upon the tool of interpretation.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Radhe Krishna<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p>
  23. Radhe Krishna, Ravi lochan, Radhe Krishna I dont know whether u r penning ur arguments from a vaidic or avaidic platform. prima facie it appears that u r pennig from an avaidic platform. cause u could not even comprehend what a smartha mean. For your kind information all the three mathacharyas from south india, viz., Shankaracharya, Ramanujacharya and madhvacharya are all smarthas. Still even today people bound by these basic philosophies are smarthas bound by the smrthis they follow. it may be even that annangaracharya swamy and me falling under the same smruthi. To say shankaracharya as not a smartha, is bluff and it is so out of ignorance. Ignorance is bliss. If u think sugar is bitter go on arguing as such no power on earth can convince u. and these success and defeat - if u see the history of debates there were many times the basic three philosophies debated and many persons debating from different platforms faced sucess and defeats. It would simply mean that the person putting forth a strong argument succeed and person putting forth weak argument gets defeated. nothing more nothing less. To say a philosophy is defeated is foolishness. Even after adishankaracharyas defeat of greatest bhudhist Nagarjuna, bhudhism still lives. debates are for vidwans who are well versed in both the philosophies. I can say (with honesty) that I am neither well versed in Advaita nor Vishistadvaita nor dvaita nor even krishna bhakthi which is my basic domain from the platform of a smartha. I do not know about u. Neither I wish to make pre conceived notions about that. can u honestly admit that u have out and out gone through Shankara Bhashya. or is it another cut and paste attempt. I have already gone through this type of cut and paste argument in gaudiya discussions. There u can find quotations from authorised guadiya granthas wherein u would find Mahaprabhu calling himself "ami mayavadi". would u dare interpret this to establish that mahaprabhu was an advaitin. selective misquotations would never prove the facts Radhe krishna
  24. Radhe krishna Nice topic. very nice quote from shuka sthuthi Radhe Krishna
  25. Radhe Krishna, I am not a member of ISKCON. But I have regards for Shri ACB for the services he rendered to humanity and krishna bhakthi. but coming to relationship between christ and krishna, these things can be better explained through Bible and Shrimad Bhagavatham. In 59th or 61st Adyaya of Uttararda (I dont now exactly remember the specific adyaya), the names of sons and grandsons of Lord Krishna are clearly mentioned. I am sorry I wont add one or reduce one from that and in that I dont find the name of christ. Thats the end of the matter for me. I dont know whether in Bible whether there are any positiv reference to Lord Krshna. Radhe Krishna
