  1. Funny and sad at the same time.

Last night on 60 minutes(a news show here in the US)4 young Muslim teenagers at a Islamic school in I believe New York, were asked if they thought the 18 year old suicidal murderess from Palestine reached Paradise after her blowing herself up in Israel. They all thought she had done the right thing and was in Paradise.

These people are on the far side of insanity.

  2. Harvesting Gauracandra, they call it harvesting. They are perfecting the art of harvesting, that's all.

They already can patent living organisms in the form of bacteria thanks to our morons in the Supreme Court. Now they will just work their way up the biological chain until they have patents on some'thing' close to humans. But there will be a certain percentage of animal genes in the 'product' so they can still claim that its not human and establish ownership.Slavemasters of the 22 century.

This world is slipping fast deeper and deeper into the nether regions of hell.

  3. Seven comes up lot in the Bible it seems.Seven mountain passes before Eden.Seven candles before the throne(Rev.)

As an armchair speculator I wonder if these don't symbolize the opening of the main chakras before God realization.

Flat plateau is a nice image for the non-dual state.

  4. Forgivness is the best revenge.Somebody wrong you?Forgive them and teach them a lesson they will never forget.

You should not forget either. No need to make the same mistake twice.

Eye for an eye is just. But it tends to keep you revolving in the wheel of law."Do unto me sucker, and I'm going do you back"."I'll get you someday" means you may have to take another birth to find them. And we all know birth is not healthy for us.Takes a toll on our sense of wellbeing.

  5. So true.Fear seems ever present.

He alone is fearless who has given up everything.

If one has simply renounced everything without being sustained by positive attachment to Krishna, could there be a lingering fear of reattachment to that which has been given up?One wonders.

  6. From what I understand the Kar Sevaks, coming back from Ayodhya, had been very denomstrative at every station prior to Godhra.

It seems someone tipped off the Muslims at Godhra and they were waiting for the train. That accounts for the large number of Muslims in the area ready to attack.

After that we have all read about what happen in Gujarat with the Hindus burning and killing hundreds of innocent Muslims in their homes.

    Its just madness.

"The account of RSS militants causing trouble for Muslim vendors in the train station as being at the beginning of the whole trouble strikes me as likely to be the truth."

Not challenging the major ideas in your post but this last line needs rethinking in my opinion.

The Kar Sevaks were chanting Jaya Ram etc. at various stations and one can easly picture these "kirtans" being fanatical and challenging in spirit rather than coming from real bhakti.

But if I remember right a mod of 1000+ Muslims gathered at Godhra and burnt 58 people alive in the train car in response. That is the real madness here.

I mean, were the vendors stoned or lit on fire?

I may be reading more into your statement then is there, but it sounds to me like you may be blaming the victims.

Sorry if I misunderstood your intention.

  8. I see movies.Monsoon Wedding was a rather light film compared to all the dark energy stuff that that is out there. For me it was a little glimpse into what I suspect is more present day India vs.the image I have built up into my mind from reading old texts about the Vedic age.

Didn't she also direct Kama Sutra?Uuh..not that I saw it or anything.

They have become known as the Yada Yada's, due to their always chanting the same wherever they go.

The group dynamic.A blessing and a danger. We can draw strength and support in numbers, but we must be cautious to not just become sheeple and allow others to do our thinking for us.

Somehow even while excepting the help of the larger community, and adding to it ourselves,we must remember that we die alone. We must become so determined that even if we are the only person on earth to execute this process we will keep going.

The danger is that many will want just a social grouping experience. We must remain alert to the imperative nature of of these teachings.

    jijaji,

I don't find an inherent problem with the rules and reg's.There are most often very good reasons to accept them.I must question my motive for practicing them though.

Pretention is my arch enemy.Discovering one's one's real motive is not so easy.

  11. Funniest thing happened just after I started this thread.I sat down and started flicking through some channels on the TV.I stopped when I hit and old Star Wars movie, The Empire Strikes Back.

Luke is in Jedi training, running through the woods with Yoda on his back who is imparting ageless wisdom as they go.Yoda says "No more will I teach you today" and they stop. Then Luke senses an unusual and cold spot in the woods. He feel it forboding.Yoda tells him to enter. He asks'What is in there"? Yoda replies"Only what you take in with you".Luke enters and comes face to face and does battle with the figure of Darth Vader. He takes his head off with his light sabre. The mask covering the figures face suddenly explodes off and he see his own face under the dark mask, lying there dead.

A classic 'I've seen the enemy and the enemy is me' scene.

To have spiritual awakening is no easy or common thing, so seekers gravitate to a tradition that clams to possess the 'Highest' or most intimate or most secret teachings etc etc etc.

This is simply a SUBSTITUTE for realizing the 'TRUTH' itself.

It's like 'Fundy Christians' who say all ya gotta do is 'BEIEVE'...

This is a subject in and of itself. It is not limited to just those who align themselves with the "most esoteric".I have been very aware of myself doing this in many ways.I like to think of myself as an ardent seeker of the truth.

The fact is on a couple of occasions when I got a slight glimpse of some aspect of the truth it also involved my recognizing my own utter hatred,( yes hatred) of that reality.

I envy Krishna to the core.

Somehow I have become cornered by this philosophy.Birth and death sucks.Absorbtion into the impersonal Brahman is clearly not the best option.

So I am left hearing and chanting in a half-hearted way at best hoping to lessen my suffering in some way, while I come to grips with the reality that I am the eternal subordinate energy of Krishna and am meant to be enjoyed by Him.

It those words 'subordinate' and 'enjoyed'that are causing me grief.

So at this level it is like I am hiding from Krishna(and myself)by pretending to myself that I am a true seeker of God.I have also noticed a tendancy to increase my external sadhana at times to actual block this realization.

What a game.It is also a pyschological defense mechanism. If we focus too much on our own inner darkness too soon, we would just suffer a nervous breakdown.

I feel like a cornered rat.

  13. I have another question.I will offer them up one at a time from time to time so it is easier for me to absorb.

During the eight different phases of the day does a practioner have eight different meditations that they perform in conjunction with those times.

I am having a hard time conceiving of how this practice could fit into our modern world. Is it not just for babaji's?Or at least those who are able to dedicate the whole day to this cultivation?

  14. Jagat, I have been reading that thread as you post and will go back and read it more attentively.

It seems my inability to concentrate long enough on the subject so far points to my lack of qualification for practicing it.Or would that be lack of greed? Posted Image

  15. They would never say that. Back then, there was a strong tradition of polemics. There were rules and according to rules, the loser had to convert over to the winner's System. This is how a new founder would bring in promiment personalities from other camps into his own. This is how Shankara defeated Puurva Mimaamsa. This is also how Raamaanuja and Maadhva laid foundation for their traditions. This being the case, if Advaita was not founded on sound logic, it would have vanished long ago, under the criticism of these two schools.

I would say that since debates have been going on for centuries, and the opposing schools still have ardent proponents, someone is not admitting defeat.

Why say the Advaita school is founded on sound logic and not say the same for the dualist perspective?

The idea that I am not equal to the Supreme Being in the sense that I can be overwhelmed by maya due to my eternal infitesimal and dependent nature is far more logical than saying I am everything that is (God)but have only forgotten the fact and now am in need of seeking salvation to be free of maya's rule over me.

Exactly what will establish this? Will quoting from some specific source achieve this? Please let me know.

No quote will be effective for us in such an absolute way as we may accept different interpretaions or explanations of their meaning and intent.

Just your own words would suffice.

    Hare Krishna

  16. I don't think the universe has a purpose. Neither do I believe that our life has a purpose.

If you really believed this statement then why do you continue to try to understand what is around you? That effort shows purpose. The purpose behind questioning is to understand.Ask yourself why you want to understand.Wherefrom that inner urge to know?

Even on a grosser level you continue to eat, showing a drive to continue to survive. That is also purpose.A primal innate need to be.

So purpose is obvious. Now the question we must ask is, "What is our highest purpose".
