  1. Your topic is called, "HH Jayapataka Swami is in critical condition from a stroke". Now, before we have the details about JPS being fully 100% recovered and the critical condition being over you come up with, Everyone should be prepared for death. Better you make an apology!
  2. Is this the appropriate moment to remind the readers of the forum to be prepared for death? No, such behaviour is rather macabre and in bad taste. Guess, we shouldn't pretend of being all knowing but be a little patient and wait till HH Jayapataka Maharaja has fully recovered and there's no subsequent damage due this stroke.

    oh, Bama

IT ALL BEGAN WHEN former State Department chief, Colin Powell, endorsed Barack Obama for president on Meet The Press, October 19 2008. Obama responded by saying, “Powell will have a role as one of my advisers.”Attached to his endorsement of Obama, Powell leaked an Obama-camp agenda about a coming crisis: “There’s going to be a crisis which will come along on the 21st, 22nd of January which we don’t even know about right now!” View Entire Story Here. On the very same day, (what a coincidence!), while at a Seattle fund raiser, Obama’s VP pick, Joe Biden, expanded on Powell’s prediction, by saying that the ‘crisis’ will be one of “international” proportions: “There are going to be a lot of tough decisions Barack’s gonna have to make, including foreign policy. Mark my words, it will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama. Watch, we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy. I guarantee you it’s gonna happen. And he’s gonna need you to stand with him. Because it’s not gonna be apparent initially that we’re right. So there’s gonna be some tough decisions. They may emanate from the Middle East. They may emanate from Russia’s newly-emboldened position because they’re floating in a sea of oil. View Entire Story Here. Then Obama chimed in two days later on October 21 2008: “The point that Joe made is very similar to the one that Homeland Secretary Chertoff made yesterday. This is that whoever is the next president is going to have to deal with a whole host of challenges internationally.” View Entire Story Here. Trilaterist & former State Department chief, Madeline Albright, who supports Obama, agreed with the Obama camp, saying, “Obama will be tested.” <center></center><center>SANCTIONS AGAINST RUSSIA BEGIN </center>AS FIRST REVEALED by historian, political analyst, and Washington insider, Webster Tarpley of Rense.com - a new ruling elite is now in place in Washington. This power bloc is headed by the founders of the Trilateral Commission, David Rockefeller & Zbigniew Brzezinski. Obama is no more than a “blank slate” for this new ruling elite. As the name “Trilateral” reflects, the mission of the Trilateral Commission is to divide the world into three regional super-governments, as an interim step toward world government. As the appellation “Commission” reflects, the instrumentality of a “shadow government” is implied. (More on this soon). <center></center>Brzezinski is a known Russophobe, a maniacal adversary of Moscow. Brzezinski’s agenda is to take control of Eurasia, which Brzezinski looks upon as the “center for global power.” The contender for global power, Russia, (as Brzezinski views Russia), has made significant inroads in Eurasia since the Georgian conflict on 8-8-08. <center></center>Brzezinski is not unaware of the announcement by Russian President Dimitry Medvedev of his Five Points Of Russian Foreign Policy. Medvedev made the Five Points public following Russia’s trouncing of Georgia when Georgian troops invaded S.Ossetia: “A single-pole world is unacceptable. Domination is something we cannot allow. We cannot accept a world order in which one country makes all the decisions, even as influential a country as the United States of America.” View Entire Story Here. <center></center>ON OCTOBER 24 2008, Washington, (translate Rockefeller-Brzezinski), initiated sanctionsagainst Russia’s state-controlled arms exporter, Rosoboron Export. Russia’s foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, responded by saying that “the sanctions imposed by the US on Russia’s state-run arms exporter contravene international law and will harm ties with Washington.” Lavrov concluded his remarks by saying that the US sanctions was “an unfriendly act.” And so my friends — the ‘predicted’ world crisis, leaked by the Obama camp on October 19 2008 — has already begun…
  4. This is being discussed by archaeologists, historians, theologians for years. Upshot, there's no reasonable proof for this theory. It is all based upon speculations and rumors.
  5. Last update: Ratnavali dd: Dear Devotees, Hare Krsna. Please accept my most humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Revati Raman prabhu, the Temple President of Tirupati, AP, India one of the senior disciples of Jayapataka Maharaja is rendering a very important service for the care and safety of Maharaja in the hospital by the ICU. Today under the supervision of the doctors and nurses he approached Maharaja to the pavitram of Tirupati Balaji Deity. While tying the pavitram on Maharaja’s hand Revati Raman prabhu spoke, “We love you so much. Every one around the world wants you. They are all praying for you and sending so many emails.” As Maharaja heard this he opened his eyes looking at Revati Raman prabhu for 2 minutes and raised his left hand pointing to his mouth. The doctors and nurses were amazed and said that Maharaja perfectly understood what Prabhu said and indicated that he was unable to speak because of the tubes in his mouth. This is the most wonderful information for all of us. Thanks to all the prayers of the devotees. The main doctors will be making soon a decision if the ventilator could be removed. Your humble servant, Ratnavali dd

  7. Looks like this medicine does not exist all over India, but at the same time the Indian doctors exactly know that it is the right medicine? If this medicine doesn't exist in India do they have experience to properly administer this medicine concerning side effects, coma patient, liver problems, etc.? Coma patients easily get kidney failure when given the wrong medicine. Liver cannot be strained in this condition either. Better stick to treatment they are familiar with and not to make some experiment with medicine they never use in their hospital dispensary. If they want to give Maharaja this medicine they should also fly in a 100% expert who knows how to properly administer this medicine and how to read the blood test.
  8. U.S. has plundered world wealth with dollar: China paper Reuters – October 24, 2008 The United States has plundered global wealth by exploiting the dollar's dominance, and the world urgently needs other currencies to take its place, a leading Chinese state newspaper said on Friday. The front-page commentary in the overseas edition of the People's Daily said that Asian and European countries should banish the U.S. dollar from their direct trade relations for a start, relying only on their own currencies. A meeting between Asian and European leaders, starting on Friday in Beijing, presented the perfect opportunity to begin building a new international financial order, the newspaper said. The People's Daily is the official newspaper of China's ruling Communist Party. The Chinese-language overseas edition is a small circulation offshoot of the main paper. Its pronouncements do not necessarily directly voice leadership views. But the commentary, as well as recent comments, amount to a growing chorus of Chinese disdain for Washington's economic policies and global financial dominance in the wake of the credit crisis. "The grim reality has led people, amidst the panic, to realize that the United States has used the U.S. dollar's hegemony to plunder the world's wealth," said the commentator, Shi Jianxun, a professor at Shanghai's Tongji University. Shi, who has before been strident in his criticism of the U.S., said other countries had lost vast amounts of wealth because of the financial crisis, while Washington's sole concern had been protecting its own interests. "The U.S. dollar is losing people's confidence. The world, acting democratically and lawfully through a global financial organization, urgently needs to change the international monetary system based on U.S. global economic leadership and U.S. dollar dominance," he wrote. Shi suggested that all trade between Europe and Asia should be settled in euros, pounds, yen and yuan, though he did not explain how the Chinese currency could play such a role since it is not convertible on the capital account. A two-day Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) of 27 EU member states and 16 Asian countries was set to open on Friday. Though few analysts expect much in the way of concrete agreements, Shi said it could prove momentous. "How can Europe and Asia grasp each other's hands and together confront the once-in-a-century global financial crisis sparked by the U.S.; how can they construct a new equitable and safe international financial order?" he said. "The world is waiting for this Asian-European meeting to achieve big results in financial cooperation." 9. Krishna clearly says in Bhagavad-gita that it is the quality of your work what determines your next birth. To be rich without being a devotee of the Supreme Lord Sri Krishna is therefore rather demoniac - asura - and all sinful activities like the killing of other living entities counted together. Such people are crushed in the rollers of Lord Yamaraja. Bill Gates could have easily installed sounds like Hari, Gopal, Rama, etc in his Operation Systems, sounds which cause liberation from samsara. Instead Bill Gates rather supports pornography, intoxication, meat-eating and gambling, all what the internet became today - filth, sinful activity, hellish condition. Donating is defined by Lord Krishna in Bhagavad-gita, according Krishna's standards, Bill Gates' welfare is useless and not helping to spiritualy uplift humanity. Btw Bill Gates stole the name 'Microsoft' from a luxury bed firm. Many say that Bill Gates stole the idea for a graphical operating system and the mouse from Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Computer, who stole the idea from Xerox. As Lord Krishna says, better be a poor but honest streetsweeper than a pseudo, someone who pretends to be something that he's not. But Bill Gates is even worse, he's a demoniac asura, a candidate for hell.
  10. The ontological argument has been a controversial topic in philosophy. Many philosophers, including Gaunilo of Marmoutiers, David Hume, Immanuel Kant, and Gottlob Frege, have openly criticized it. Any suggestion what Vaishnavas say about this?
  11. Prof. M. Sivasuriya, Colombo: Can humanity dispel its animal nature? http://www.island.lk/2008/10/25/opinion2.html Mr. Bertram Perera has posed the above question in the Opinion/Letters page of "The Island" of October 16, 2008. My answer to his query is a definite ‘Yes’ and I have no doubt that it would be the same answer from all right thinking Buddhists and Hindus the world over. All long established religions, Buddhism, Saivism, Brahminism and Jainism - these four being the off-shoots of Hinduism - and also Zoroastrianism, have advocated abstinence from flesh food. Some even regard Hinduism as the ‘mother’ of all the other religions as no one seems to know for certain how and when it originated. So if there is to be abstinence from flesh food according to these religions, it is crystal clear that there should be no ‘killing’ or ‘slaughter’ of animals (which includes fish - a cold blooded animal living wholly in water) for food. Vegetarianism is a direct consequence to the adherence of ‘Ahimsa’ (compassion) and ‘Metta’ (loving kindness) advocated by both Buddhism and Hinduism. I disagree totally with Mr. Bertram Perera that "Man, the animal, has no choice but to remain an omnivore": I would rather state that Man has every choice to be a herbivore like, for example, the elephant, (the strongest animal on earth), the horse (one of the fastest animals), the bull/cow, the camel, the deer, the monkey etc. if he has ‘reverence’ for animal life. I agree with Mr. Perera that "Man’s superior intellectual powers are dependent on the food he consumes", but this does not imply that he should depend on a carnivorous or omnivorous diet. He need not be that to be a world class cricketer or an Olympic champion as revealed for example by Sachin Tendulkar (cricket) and Martina Navratilova (tennis) and Vassily Jirov, former Olympic (1996) Cruiser weight boxing champion. Amongst other notable vegetarians the following may be cited: Charles Darwin, Albert Einstein, Sir Isac Netwon, Plato, Pyhthogoras, George Bernard Shaw, Shakespeare, Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, Aristotle, Seneca, Socrates Rajendra Prasad (the first President of Independent India), Abdul Khalam (a Muslim), the immediate past President of India and (Sir) Paul and (late) Linda Mc Cartney. Even today, the misconception prevails amongst many, that certain people have special nutritional requirements and may have to eat meat, but this is not correct. Being a medical man myself, I would like to categorically state that medical opinion is is currently of the view that there is nothing more nutritious that could be obtained from a carnivorous (flesh) diet than what could be obtained from a well chosen lacto-vegetarian diet and I might add that this is accepted by the World Health Organization (WHO) as well as the American Medical Association (AMA). Let me conclude by quoting Dr. Koshalya Walli: " Meat can never be obtained without injuring creatures and so by injuring sentient beings meat eating is detrimental to heavenly bliss and should therefore be shunned. One should consider the disgusting origins of flesh and the cruelty of slaying sentient beings and abstain from flesh eating. He, who permits the slaughter of animals, he who cuts up, kills, buys, sells, serves it up and eats, everyone is a slayer of animals. Meat cannot be obtained from straw or stone. It can be obtained only by slaughtering a creature, hence meat is not to be eaten." So let us "Live and Let Live" May All Beings Be Well and Happy! Prof. M. Sivasuriya Colombo 8
  12. This kind of kali-yuga wealth is not actual wealth since it creates the darkest hellish condition in his future millions of lifetimes. Someone who doesn't become a Vaishnava right after the auspicious appearance of the yuga-avatar is gliding down into very low position of having to accept millions of abominable births in the lower species. Since Bill Gates is not even vegetarian he is even more severly punished for having the chance to become educated about the law of karma but foolishly rejecting it. In this way he is sinking down into hell and having to suffer 1000 births in hell for every single hair on the cows bodies he supported to be killed. Btw, Venus in Scorpio is the most bad Venus constellation, at the same time his Venus squares Pluto, indicating that in past lifes his Venus was turned into chaos. Therefore, additionally, Venus conjunction Saturn. Ruler of house 2 is in house 5 in square with Uranus what says he might eventually lose everything, since Uranus eradicates illusions which cause material attachment.
  13. Since this is cnjai20's topic first let him comment on what is posted so far. My knowledge is to quote from authority, something what is recommended by Lord Krsna Himself, and not to produce yet another opinion. Since the great acaryas presented so much knowledge to answer our questions it is of course also important to find the right quote. To find the right quote you must have studied a lot. That's what I did. If I would have studied law so extensively like I studied vedic knowledge I would be an University professor by now. But somehow someone who is well-read with vedic knowledge is not considered as anything in the material world. Therefore people also won't respect it when one is posting an adequate quote from a great Vaishnava acarya.
  14. Wish you were right, but when it comes to Krsna's parampara system things look not so clear as you say. We have to find out whom Krsna considers as His representative of the parampara system. Since siksa-guru is of greater importance than formal diksa-guru and presently all Vaishnava leaders quote Prabhupada, Prabhupada is actually the siksa-guru of all of us. This doesn't have anything to do with present Vaishnava leaders. They might be doing first class devotional service. Or some might lacking behind. But since their lecturing is based upon quoting Prabhupada, they actually admit that Prabhupada is their siksa-guru. In other words, 300 years from now you will read in the list of guru-parampara, Srila Prabhupada was siksa-guru of them all, they didn't present a new chapter of refined vedic siddhanta but repeated what Prabhupada presented in his books. Therefore, Prabhupada will show up as link of the parampara but nobody else. May be in future a new powerful acarya will appear who makes a new produce of Prabhupada's work of a lifetime. But presently we can say, they all teach basically what Prabhupada established. Therefore he's the current link, even if presently there are pure Vaishnavas among us - they all base their teachings upon Prabhupada's books. If Krsna also sees it that way, Prabhupada as link to Krsna's parampara system, then as you say, people who don't follow might not know what real light is, but might moving the light switch back and forth in vain. Nothing will happen, they ultimately feel only darkness unless they understand how the parampara is functioning.
  15. Good point it is basically a psychological operation and people fall for it. Problem seems that the karmis simply degrade to pig's live when having nice facilities. Could be that therefore all this happens, because people are only sinful rascals and simply increase their sinful living when given more opulence?
  16. Bush obviously isn't interested to become a honored president of the United States. OECD report ranks US third worst in inequality and poverty Patrick O’Connor – WSWS October 22, 200, 2008 A report issued yesterday by the Paris-based Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) revealed the United States has the third worst level of income inequality and poverty among the group's 30 member states. Only Mexico and Turkey ranked higher in those categories. OECD states in western Europe, along with Japan, South Korea, Canada and Australia, all recorded better figures than the US, as did central and eastern European states, including Poland and Hungary. The 300-page report, entitled "Growing Unequal? Income Distribution and Poverty in OECD countries," was based on three years of research into the relevant data of the organization's member countries over the past two to three decades. With increased inequality and poverty levels recorded in three-quarters of OECD countries, the report's central conclusion was that "the economic growth of recent decades has benefitted the rich more than the poor." On the US, the report explained: "Since 2000, income inequality has increased rapidly, continuing a long-term trend that goes back to the 1970s ... Rich households in America have been leaving both middle and poorer income groups behind. This has happened in many countries, but nowhere has this trend been so stark as in the United States. The average income of the richest 10 percent is US$93,000 in purchasing power parities, the highest level in the OECD. However, the poorest 10% of the US citizens have an income of US$5,800 per year—about 20% lower than the average for OECD countries." [Original emphasis] These income figures actually underestimate the gulf between the ultra-wealthy and the working class and poor. Wealth inequality is far higher than reported income disparities. A tiny elite layer comprising less than 1 percent of the population has amassed unprecedented levels of wealth over the last three decades through various forms of speculation and financial parasitism. But this wealth, largely concealed through tax evasion schemes and other mechanisms, is difficult for economists and statisticians to accurately measure. The OECD said it recorded income rather than wealth inequalities because many countries do not gather data on household assets and because of other difficulties in comparing wealth between countries. The report noted, however, that available statistics showed that wealth inequality was substantially higher than income distribution in every country. In the US, it was estimated that the top 10 percent hold 71 percent of the national wealth (compared to 28 percent of total income), while the top 1 percent control between 25 to 33 percent of total net worth. The report cited estimates that average income inequality across the OECD was 7 to 8 percent higher in the mid-2000s than in the mid-1980s. "This may not sound like much of an increase," it explained, "but it is equivalent on average to taking $880 away from the poorest 50 percent and giving $880 to the richest 50 percent, although incomes at every level grew over the two decades." The OECD report defined those in poverty as households with an income below half of median national incomes. On this basis, poor people comprise 17 percent of the US population—higher than all the advanced OECD economies and only marginally behind Mexico and Turkey. The US also ranked among the worst in OECD countries in regard to the length of time people remain trapped in poverty. According to the report, in most member states about half of poor people move above the poverty line within three years. But deep disparities were discovered; in Denmark and Holland the "persistently poor" comprise less than 2 percent of the population, while in the US the figure is 7 percent. The US also ranks among the worst countries in "inequality of opportunity." Comparing income levels between fathers and their sons, the OECD assigned member countries an "earnings mobility" rating, with zero meaning the younger generation would earn the same income as the previous one, and 100 indicating no relationship between the two generations' earnings. An inverse relationship was found to exist between income inequality levels and earnings growth between generations. While several countries, such as Canada, Norway, Finland, and Denmark, recorded more than 80 on the earnings mobility index, the US scored just over 50. These various findings point to the deepening class divide that dominates every aspect of American society. They also put paid to the various right-wing nostrums advanced in defence of the extraordinary levels of social inequality in the US. Far from having anything to do with merit or "hard work," individuals' incomes are largely determined by the family and social circumstances they are born into. The OECD report also documented the correlation between higher social spending and reduced poverty and inequality. In Scandinavian and western European countries, social spending on people of working age (such as family benefits) averaged 7 to 8 percent of national income in 2005 and the proportion of working-age people in poverty was 5 to 8 percent. In the US, Mexico, Turkey and South Korea, 2 percent or less of national income was spent on equivalent benefits, while 12-15 percent of the working age population lived in poverty. The unfolding financial crisis and the deepening world recession is set to rapidly accelerate the regressive poverty and inequality trends, both in the US and internationally. Oxford University economist Anthony Atkinson published an article, "Unequal growth, unequal recession?," in the OECD Observer magazine to coincide with the major report's release. "The time of its publication inevitably leads the reader to ask: what will happen if the next decade is one, not of world growth, but of world recession?" he wrote. "If a rising tide does not lift all boats, how will they be affected by an ebbing tide? Recession—if it comes—does not sound like good news for those on the margins of the labour force." Juan Somavia, director general of the International Labour Organization (ILO), announced on Monday that global unemployment could next year rise by an additional 20 million people, to a total of 210 million. An ILO press release explained that this figure was derived from UN data, revised International Monetary Fund economic growth rates and recent reports of layoffs in several countries. Somavia also estimated that the number of working poor living on less than $1 a day could rise by another 40 million, and those on less than $2 a day by more than 100 million. He added these projections "could prove to be underestimates if the effects of the current economic contraction and looming recession are not quickly confronted." Earlier this month the ILO director general told officials of the IMF and the World Bank meeting in Washington that "The crisis of the international financial system has grave consequences for enterprises, workers and families around the world. Coming on top of still high food and fuel prices, its effects are provoking a slide into a recession that unless averted by prompt and coordinated government actions could be severe, long lasting and global." He warned the banking and political elite that they had to take action to get credit flowing again quickly "before more serious damage is done to the productive capacity and social fabric all around the world." www.wsws.org/articles/2008/oct2008/oecd-o22.shtml
  17. Prabhupāda:One should not become a father, one should not become mother, unless he or she can save his child from death. This is religious sex life. Suppose you are married. There is sex life. And both you and your wife decide that “Unless I am expert to save my child from death, we shall not have sex life.” This is good sex life. Indian man: It is negation of sex. Prabhupāda: Yes. Otherwise sex life is there in the cats and dogs. If you are going to be a dog? You must act as a human being. This is to act as human being, that “I shall not become a father, my dear wife, you should not become a mother, if both of us are not expert how to save the death of our child.” This is good sex life. If you are not expert to execute this scientific method, that is bad sex life. It is the dog’s sex life. Indian man: Has anybody practiced this type of sex? Prabhupāda: Yes, there are so many. That is the Vedic civilization. Indian man: They have shielded a child from death. Prabhupāda: Yes, many, many. Indian man: An example. Prabhupāda: An example, that first of all you know how you can save the death. Indian man: I do not know. Prabhupāda: Ah, if you do not know that problem. (Prabhupāda is laughing) Indian man: That is the biggest problem. (laughing) Prabhupāda: That is. Indian man: The body comes, then the soul. But that part is, I don’t… Prabhupāda: First of all, you have understood that unless you are capable of training your child not to die, you should not become a father. First of all, you have to accept this principle. Then how to save the child from death, that is next question. Let us go step by step. Your question was what is the good sex life, the answer is given here. Indian man: Answer is very complicated. Prabhupāda: Not complicated. The answer is… But how to become expert to save the child from death, that is another science that you should know. If you want to stop your self… [break] …no need of a child to whom you have to give your care to make him, to raise him in such a way, if there is no such need, then there is no need of sex life. If you enjoy sex life for sense enjoyment, that is atrocity. That is atrocity. That is Vedic civilization. Because before sex life we have got saṁskāras, garbhādhāna-saṁskāra. The purpose is there, that “I shall train my child how to stop death. And the child must be so good that he will take my instruction.” And therefore garbhādhāna- saṁskāra. So without garbhādhāna-saṁskāra, one who enjoys sex life, he is the most sinful. Not that “Whenever and wherever I like and with whomever I like I shall have sex life.” It is all sinful activity. Therefore Kṛṣṇa says dharma aviruddhaḥ kāmo ’smi. Sex life which is not against religious principles, that I am. So if we try to understand this one verse, we become self-realized. Similarly, each verse of Bhagavad-gītā is like that. Indian man: Such a supreme knowledge is there from our superior authorities. This knowledge is, we are not even able to follow. Prabhupāda: Yes. That’s a fact. Therefore people are coming out like cats and dogs. But here is Bhagavad-gītā. If you are guided by Bhagavad-gītā, then it is all right. But this question, next question you’ll say that “How I can save?” That is answered in Bhagavad-gītā. How you can save? Now you say. You tell me what is that verse. How you can save your child from death? Indian man: By realizing, by giving an education. Prabhupāda: No, you try to quote the verse, what is the way. Indian man: (laughing) I am a small fly before yourself. You are the ocean. I am a drop. Prabhupāda: No. You are not fly, you are experienced. Therefore I am trying to explain. Find out this verse. Tyaktvā dehaṁ punar janma naiti [Bg. 4.9]. Punar janma naiti. That is continuation of life. Tyaktvā, everyone has to give up this body. And one who gives up this body but does not accept another material body, he has no more birth and death. Tyaktvā dehaṁ punar janma naiti mām eti [Bg. 4.9] You have to find out this. Read it. Girirāja: janma karma ca me divyam evaṁ yo vetti tattvataḥ tyaktvā dehaṁ punar janma naiti mām eti so ’rjuna [Bg. 4.9] “One who knows the transcendental nature of My appearance and activities does not upon leaving this body, take his birth again in this material world, but attains My eternal abode, O Arjuna.” Prabhupāda: Very simple thing, that you are part and parcel of God. God is eternal. So if you understand God, then you become eternal. Just like your father is very rich man, but you have left your father. You are loitering in the street. But as soon as you understand your father, “Oh, I am the son of such and such person. He is so rich! Oh, I haven’t got any necessity.” Then you become rich. Go back home, back to Godhead. Mām eti. “He comes to Me.” Someone is there. You must know your father, and you must go back to father. Then there is no question of suffering. Very simple thing. Now what is the purport? Girirāja: Purport. “The Lord’s descent from His transcendental abode is already explained in the 6th verse. One who can understand the truth of the appearance of the Personality of Godhead is already liberated from material bondage.” Prabhupāda: Yes. He is already liberated. When one understands Kṛṣṇa properly. Then. Girirāja: “And therefore he returns to the kingdom of God immediately after quitting this present material body.” Prabhupāda: That return to God is eternal. Suppose I am your guest here, so you may provide me for some days, but I cannot expect that you can provide me for all the days. That is my mistake. But if you go to your father’s house, there is no question of. He takes. That is the required. Go to your father. Mām eti. Therefore this is the way of eternity, that you understand who is your father and you go back to Him. Then his life is successful. And who is the father? Indian man: (laughing) Not the body. Prabhupāda: (laughing) Not body. It is in the Bhagavad-gītā. Find out this verse. Sarva-yoniṣu kaunteya sambhavanti mūrtayaḥ, tāsāṁ mahad yonir brahma ahaṁ bīja-pradaḥ pitā. He is the father. Girirāja: sarva-yoniṣu kaunteya mūrtayaḥ sambhavanti yāḥ tāsāṁ brahma mahad yonir ahaṁ bīja-pradaḥ pitā [Bg. 14.4] “It should be understood that all species of life, O son of Kuntī, are made possible by birth in this material nature, and that I am the seed-giving father.” Prabhupāda: This is all very easy to understand. Mother means from whom the child is coming, is it not? That is mother. Everyone knows. So you see this whole world, wherefrom everything is coming, you see, practically, gross knowledge. I see a plant is coming from the earth. A tree is coming from the earth. And according to evolutionary theory… Not theory, fact. The dehāntara-prāptiḥ. When his plant life is finished, he takes another body, insect life. So the mother is the earth. That’s a fact. I am eating the things which are… Jīvo jīvasya jīvanam. I am a life. I am taking either grain or I am taking flesh, the material is supplied from the earth. The animal also, he is also eating the grass. That is coming from the earth. The earth is the mother. That is a fact. Now we should be intelligent, that simply mother cannot beget a child. There must be father. So who is that father? The answer is here. Ahaṁ bīja-pradaḥ pitā. So where is the ignorance? Indian man: This is Brahman. Prabhupāda: And again. Kṛṣṇa says aham, why do you interpret in different way. Indian man: Now this indication is… Prabhupāda: That means you make purposefully complicated. The father is saying, “I am father.” Then why you are bringing this meaning, aham means… Indian man: No, it’s that “aham” is indicated to Who? The physical posture of Kṛṣṇa which we know or the…? Prabhupāda: Why do we say like that? Why? (shouting) Why you are bringing physical concept He is a person, He is saying. Why do you say physical, material, and this and that way. He is father. Indian man: Because He is saying, we should accept it? Prabhupāda: Yes, you accept. Accept, Kṛṣṇa is in your front. And why should physical, metaphysical and chemical? Kṛṣṇa is a person. A person says… Indian man: Earth is mother… Prabhupāda: Yes. And He says that “Earth is mother, I am the father.” You have to understand it. That yes, earth is mother, because everything is coming from earth. But who has given the seed in the mother? That Kṛṣṇa says, “I am giving.” Sa asṛjata sa īkṣata. This is Vedic version. And He says personally. Indian man: As you say earth, mind accepts immediately. But… Prabhupāda: But if your mind cannot accept, your mind cannot accept, that does not mean the things will change. You should know that you are a fool. You do not know. Indian man: I accept. Prabhupāda: Yes, then as Kṛṣṇa says you accept it. How the father has given seed to this earth? That is not your business. You try to understand… Indian man: (indistinct) Prabhupāda: Because you are trying to understand in your own way. Indian man: Trying to understand in my own way? Prabhupāda: Yes. Just like you beget a child, you give seed. The seed of the child in the womb of your wife in a method, you know that. Therefore you are thinking, “How it is possible?” You do not know that God is almighty. He can beget children in His own way, but you are thinking in your own way, that “I give birth to a child in this way. How is that He is seed-giving father and earth is producing?” Because you are thinking in your own way. Indian man: I have to think in my own way. http://causelessmercy.com/t/t/761222r2.poo.htm Room Conversation with Indian Man His Divine Grace A. C. 18. When being asked, why animals have no soul, people usually have no reasonable answer. Instead they come up with all kind of confused explanations like, there is only biological life within animals. This is of course a very foolish understanding, since animals have so many similar qualities like human beings. In fact modern science more and more discovers new findings how animals have a great deal in common with human beings. New Muslim Vegetarian/Vegan Society formed in UK This welcome new venture was launched during the Young Indian Vegetarians 1995 annual picnic in Hyde Park. Its president, an active supporter of the National Alliance For Animals and a vegan of many years standing, has subsequently received inquiries from all over the world, including a sultan in Saudi Arabia. For further details contact: Rafeeque Ahmad, 59 Bray Towers, 136 Adelaide Road, London NW3, UK <hr size="1" noshade="noshade">Islamic Duty of Compassion Towards Animals In view of the welcome news of a Muslim Vegetarian/Vegan Society and the recent contributions from other major religions to these pages, we reprint just a few of the following Islamic teachings on the duties of Muslims towards their fellow beings (with apologies for any orthographical inaccuracies). <center>"The Holy Prophet Muhammad (S) was asked by his companions if kindness to animals was rewarded in the life hereafter. He replied: 'Yes, there is a meritorious reward for kindness to every living creature'." (Bukhari) STATUS OF ANIMALS All creatures on earth are sentient beings. "There is not an animal on earth, nor a bird that flies on its wings - but they are communities like you." (The Quran, 6:38) PHYSICAL INJURY "The Holy Prophet (S) forbade the beating or the branding of animals. Once he saw a donkey branded on its face and said: 'may Allah condemn the one who branded it'." (Muslim) ANIMAL BAITING AND BLOOD SPORTS "The Holy Prophet (S) forbade the setting up of animals to fight against each other." (Abu Dawud and Tirmidhi) "The Holy Prophet (S) condemned those who pinion or restrain animals in any other way for the purpose of target shooting. (Al-Masburah and Al-Mujaththamah)." (Muslim) CAGING "The Holy Prophet (S) said: 'It is a great sin for man to imprison those animals which are in his power'." (Muslim) VIVISECTION There are numerous Islamic laws forbidding vivisection (Al-muthia) on a live animal. IBn Umar reported the Holy Prophet (S) as having condemned those who mutilate any part of an animals body while it is alive. (Ahmad and other authorities) (S) stands for 'Salam', meaning 'peace be upon him'. </center>
  19. Thanks for clarifying. Let me translate this so my Joe Public brain can understand. Mujibar earned some money and built a house. He considers to connect his house to the electric power supply. In the village pub someone tells him that he would do it really cheap. This man looks like to run the cable but doesn't know how to actually get connected to the supplier of electric energy. Instead he tells Mujibar to give him some money and to move the light switch back and forth. Mujibar moves the light switch all day but no electricity is reaching his place. Finally Mujibar concludes electricity is something bad, something that doesn't work, becomes frustrated and loses his faith. In the village pub they tell him, what is also stated above, chose another. But why not go to the authorized electrician in the first place? A genuine spiritual master doesn't need to be an academic, but as soon you are initiated by him you know 100%, initiation business completed, I'm connected with the powerhouse of the parampara, no need to look somewhere else. How can it be otherwise?
  20. Thanks Mr. Ahmadi, thanks for your kind invitation. This is my point I'm making after having read your latest post at your blog, the Supreme Absolute Truth, the Complete Whole, can never be less than His creation. The Complete Whole, or the Supreme Absolute Truth, is the complete Personality of Godhead. The Complete Whole is not formless. If He were formless, or if He were less than His creation in any other way, He could not be complete. The Complete Whole must contain everything both within and beyond our experience; otherwise He cannot be complete. Following your request, copy/paste of your latest article:

  22. Good point, it is said, eko vai narayana asin na brahma na isano napo nagni-samau neme dyav-aprthivi na naksatrani na suryah: "In the beginning of the creation there was only the Supreme Personality Narayana. There was no Brahma, no Siva, no fire, no moon, no stars in the sky, no sun." (Maha Upanisad 1) In the Maha Upanisad it is also said that Lord Siva was born from the forehead of the Supreme Lord. Thus the Vedas say that it is the Supreme Lord, the creator of Brahma and Siva, who is to be worshiped. In the Moksa-dharma Krsna also says, prajapatim ca rudram capy aham eva srjami vai tau hi mam na vijanito mama maya-vimohitau "The patriarchs, Siva and others are created by Me, though they do not know that they are created by Me because they are deluded by My illusory energy." In the Varaha Purana it is also said, narayanah paro devas tasmaijatas caturmukhah tasmad rudro 'bhavad devah sa ca sarva-jnatam gatah "Narayana is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and from Him Brahma was born, from whom Siva was born."

  24. India chases China to the moon S. Murari – Reuters October 22, 2008 India launched its first unmanned moon mission today following in the footsteps of rival China, as the emerging Asian power celebrated its space ambitions and scientific prowess. Chandrayaan-1 (Moon vehicle), a cuboid spacecraft built by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) blasted off from a southern Indian space centre shortly after dawn in a boost for the country's ambitions to gain more global space business. "What we have started is a remarkable journey," G. Madhavan Nair, chairman of ISRO, told reporters. The operation is ostensibly about mapping the moon, but the mission comes on the heels of China's first space walk last month, when Chinese astronauts were feted as national heroes. India does not want to fall behind in an Asian race to space that could have technological and military implications. There is disquiet in the West that China has military ambitions in space, with developments like anti-satellite missiles. India's national television channels broadcast the countdown to the launch live. Some scientists thumped their chests, hugged each other and clapped as the rocket shot up into space. Greeted with patriotism in the media, the launch appeared to have distracted India from an economic slowdown, collapsing stock prices and outbreaks of ethnic and religious violence. Perhaps remarkably in a nation where hundreds of millions of people live in poverty and millions of children are malnourished, the cost of the mission has scarcely been questioned. "Destination Moon ... Historic Day For India" blazed one TV channel on its screen. Barring any technical failure, the spacecraft will reach the lunar orbit and spend two years scanning the moon for any evidence of water and precious metals. A gadget called the Moon Impactor Probe will detach and land on the moon to kick up some dust, while instruments in the craft analyse the particles, ISRO says. A principal objective is to look for Helium 3, an isotope which is very rare on earth but is sought to power nuclear fusion and could be a valuable source of energy in the future, some scientists believe. It is thought to be more plentiful on the moon, but still rare and very difficult to extract. India's project cost $79 million, considerably less than the Chinese and Japanese probes in 2007 and ISRO says the moon mission will pave the way for India to claim a bigger chunk of the global space business. ISRO scientists visited temples to seek the blessings of Hindu gods before the launch, and afterwards some expressed relief that rain had held off until the rocket was in space. "The rain gods have been kind to us," Madhavan said. For many proud Indians, the launch is another notch in the country's global ambitions. India recently signed a civil nuclear deal with the United States, making it a de facto nuclear power. "I'm very proud," said Sunil Tambe, a taxi driver in Mumbai. "It means India can do these big projects and I think it will also benefit us because there will be more information and we can learn new things." In April, India sent 10 satellites into orbit from a single rocket, and ISRO says it is plans more launches before a proposed manned mission to space and then onto Mars in four years time. "With China forging ahead in the space field, India cannot afford to lag far behind," wrote security analyst Ajey Lele in The Indian Express. ISRO is collaborating with a number of countries, including Israel on a project to carry an ultra-violet telescope in an Indian satellite within a year. It is also building a tropical weather satellite with France, collaborating with Japan to improve disaster management from space, and developing a heavy lift satellite launcher, which it hopes to use to launch heavier satellites by 2010. India has launched 10 remote sensing satellites since 1998, has several broadcast satellites in space to control 170 transponders and has also launched light-weight satellites for Belgium, Germany, Korea, Japan and France. www.independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/india-chases-china-to-the-moon-968841.html
  25. Chandrayaan-I successfully put into earth's orbit Font Size Agencies Posted: Oct 22, 2008 at 1159 hrs IST Sriharikota (AP), October 22: : Heralding a new era in the country's space programme, India on Wednesday successfully launched its first unmanned moon mission, Chandrayaan-1, becoming the sixth nation to undertake an odyssey for exploration of lunar surface. The home-grown PSLV-C11, ISRO's workhorse launch vehicle, placed the spacecraft into a transfer orbit around the earth exactly 18.2 minutes after a textbook lift off at 6.22 am from the second launch pad of Satish Dhawan Space Centre in this island in the Bay of Bengal, 100 km north of Chennai. The joy of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) scientists knew no bounds as the 44.4 metre tall four-stage rocket majestically soared into the sky, capping their four years of toil for the first-ever mission that would travel beyond earth's orbit in the country's forty-year-old space programme. "The launch was perfect and precise. It was a remarkable performance by the PSLV. The satellite has been placed in the earth orbit and with this we have completed the first leg of the mission. It will take 15 days to reach the lunar orbit," a beaming ISRO Chairman G Madhavan Nair announced. President Pratibha Patil, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha L K Advani congratulated the space scientists on the successful launch. When the spacecraft finally reaches its destination at 100 km above the moon surface after a series of manoeuvres over the next two weeks, it would signal India's arrival in the league of nations -- the US, Russia, European Space Agency, China and Japan which are already involved in lunar exploration. India's last tryst with moon came way back in 1984 when Indian astronaut, Squadron Leader Rakesh Sharma, travelled to space along with two Soviet cosmonauts. The focus now shifts to ISRO's telemetry, tracking and command network (ISCRAC) at Payenya in Bangalore, which will be the country's nerve centre for tracking and controlling Chandrayaan-1 over the next two years of its life span. Chandrayaan-1 carries 11 payloads, including two instruments from the American space agency, NASA, which will assess mineral resources, map the polar regions, look for ice deposits and prepare a three-dimensional atlas of the moon and prospect the lunar surface for natural resources. Coming after 44 years of its maiden rocket launch from Thumba in 1963, Chandrayaan-1 will also look for possible uranium deposits on the moon as India sets out to augment its energy capacity through international bilateral nuclear pacts.
