  1. If you are so ingrossed in the Vipapa Kusumanjali then why would you waste your time in this folly of internet politic's? Just being here involved in endless ranglings is a sure sign that all you say you are receiveing from your studies is absent. The other thing that goes ill together is Ananta das and Srila Prabhupada. Two diametricly opposed preachers delivering a different message. Though I know of no personal comments from Srila Prabhupada on The Babaji, I have heard from Ananta das on the subject of Srila Prabhupada, and it wasn't flatering, to say the least. No, of course I can't make you do anything, if you wish to read these scriptures you will do so. But when attempting to enter a forbiden place care must be taken on your part to leave at the door all other moods of service. Your time here is telling of a person that still maybe has to much attachment to the material world(internet) or why do you not have your head in these scriptures now? Rasa Basa. Your not ready. I'm not going to answer your post any more than this. Hare Krsna, Caturbahu das
  2. Who translated the Vilapa Kusumanjali you are reading? I have a zerox copied manuscript from Ananta das Babaji that I got in Radha Kunda in 97'. If you are reading this then you are compleatly off topic here and miss posting. This thread is not of that mood and you should know better if you are reading such exalted literature. Constantly argueing apples and oranges. Vidhi and Raganuga. And that you are still doing this shows you should stop reading those lituratures. Your posts are the prof of a very elimental neophyte that is above his head, just treading water. Like the rest of us. If you were qualified to read as you say, you would not continue to post these fictitious aguements and would understand the purpose of DVD. Stop reading these books, your not ready yet or you would not react the way you do to this thread. What is my prof of statements made? Been there, done that, recognize it. No srcipture, this is in my heart. Say its black, I do not care. Stop reading the Vipapa Ksumanjali, your not ready. And neither am I, thats how I recognize you. It only took me a month, you are stuck in an endless loop. Because you are not qualified to enter into the intimate pastimes of Radha and Krsna. It takes one to know one. I'm your huckleberry. Your frying. Hare Krsna, Caturbahu das
  3. Hare Krsna Mohonkrsna Do you read Srila Prabhupada's SB? The story is in the thrid canto ch 16 and a very nice read. CBR
  4. Reminds me of how when the devotees first were going to India in the late 60's had changed the 'color' of garb they wore from 'yellow' to now 'white' as the Indians were doing. Prabhupada's responce at first sighting of the newly arrived devotees back to NY was "Who died?" Though He did not like it, the change of color, Prabhupada none the less let it stay as 'white', as concession to unruly disciples. Because they were under the influence of constant change which is Maya's tricks of illusional control, ajustment to a thing that was not broke. Ajusting outside instead of the inside is only the appeance of improvement. This story was told to me by Rupanuga das. Hare Krsna, Caturbahu das Bhakti Raja
  5. Then these devotees in the tape are not in Srila Prabhupada's line? As in A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami? Is there common example of ladies adoping such maner of dress Vedicly? That the inevitable exception to a rule will be put forward, is not what I'm asking. I'm asking about the standard, not the exception. Do not monistic women dress as widow? Hare Krsna, Caturbahu das Bhakti Raja
  6. Is not the question one of formality over function? The 'formality' of initiation into the sannyasa? I'm wondering if I misunderstood the question. I though it was the formality of initiation. Hare Krsna, Caturbahu das Bhakti Raja
  7. Bombay My dear Aditya, Please accept my blessings. I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated 28th January, 1976. The spirit soul is equal in either a man or woman. One who is actually engaged in the service of Krishna, there is no such distinction as man or woman. In the Bhagavad-gita, 6th Chapter, 1st Verse it is stated anasritah karma-phalam karijam karma karoti yah/ sa sannyasi ca yogi ca na niragnir na cakriyah. Anyone acting for Krishna, he is a sannyasi or sannyasini. It is also stated: striyo vaisyas tatha sudras te'pi yanti param gatim. So spiritually everyone is equal. But materially a woman cannot be given Sannyasa. But you should not be bothered because you are serving on the spiritual platform. I hope this meets you well. Your ever well-wisher, A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami 7/16/7o Letter to Nevatiaji 7. Regarding Swamis and ``Swaminies,'' you have been misinformed. Among my disciples there is only one Swami or Sannyasi, but there is no ``Swaminie.'' Woman is never offered Sannyasa in the Vedic culture. Up to Vanaprastha stage the woman may remain with her husband as assistant or friend without any sex relation, and when a man takes Sannyasa the woman has no connection with him. I am very sorry to inform you that there are some Indian ``Swamis'' in this country who are living with so-called ``Swaminies,'' but so far we are concerned we follow strictly the Vedic principles. Hare Krsna, Caturbahu das Bhakti Raja
  8. Your assumption that conversations with disciples are inadmissable as "teachings to all" and are only relevant to the disciples present is what is bogus. The disciples present were the leaders, who were at that moment AND in the future responsible to convey the instructions given to the rest of the movement, which as we know would include ANY fallen soul who came in earnest from then on. Srila Prabhupada translated the essential scriptures and gave purports. If this was all that was necessary for his society, then why would he ever speak again? No, he speaks we listen and utilize. Bas You say context must always be there, why not include all of the context of how he wanted his movement to proceed? All the statements in his conversations and lectures in which he references what is to be done in his society, you throw out, and say the only context is in his books. You appear to have a very rudimentary understanding of context, logic, and deductive reasoning. If you can't agree that the conversations and lectures are contextual to all questions regarding the guidance of Srila Prabhupada's movement, then we probably will not make sense to one another. Hare Krsna CBR
  9. Because DVD is to help everyone practice devotional service and not just ISKCON or Gaudiya devotees. How do you KNOW who posts here? And what about the 99% who read and do not post? What are they chopped liver? CBR
  10. I was just on another thread and saw someone say 'I believe' I though about that and have to say I only believe what Prabhupada has said. If I have a thing wrong then I change that belief to suit what is/has been reveiled to me a new. I personally have nothing of my own, it is all Srila Prabhupada's. If I have a thing wrong, it can only be undestood that way by comparison to vani, not speculation. I want hard evidence from all the vani of Guru. If you say a thing and can not back it up why would I surrender to you? No, only Srila Prabhupada can correct me. I saw this same resistance to surrender in a conversation from Hari-sauri... 2/14/77 Prabhupada: Chanting will go on. That is not stopped. But at the same time the varnasrama-dharma must be established to make the way easy. Hari-sauri: Well, at least my own understanding was that the chanting was introduced in the age of Kali because varnasrama is not possible. Prabhupada: Because it will cleanse the mind. Chanting will not stop. (end quote) You see Hari-sauri has his own understanding separate from Srila Prabhupada's insistance that DVD be introduced in ISKCON. How could a disciple has a separate understanding? How can any of you? This is the same conversation that Prabhupada says to introduce in ISKCON..... Satsvarupa: In our ISKCON, one becomes a brahmana after a year. It’s not very hard. Everyone becomes a brahmana. Prabhupada: That is due to chanting. That lift very easily. Hari-sauri: Where will we introduce the varnasrama system, then? Prabhupada: In our society, amongst our members. Hari-sauri: But then if everybody’s being raised to the brahminical platform... Prabhupada: Not everybody. Why you are misunderstanding? Varnasrama, not everybody brahmana. Hari-sauri: No, but in our society practically everyone is being raised to that platform. So then one might ask what is... Prabhupada: That is... Everybody is being raised, but they’re falling down. Hari-sauri: So then we should make it more difficult to get... Prabhupada: Yes. Hari-sauri: ...brahminical initiation. After four or five years. Prabhupada: Not necessary. You remain as a kshatriya. You’ll be ha... Hari-sauri: No need for even any brahmana initiation, then... Prabhupada: No, no. Hari-sauri: ...unless one is... Prabhupada: No, brahmana must be there. Why do you say, generalize? Hari-sauri: Unless one is particularly... Prabhupada: Yes. Hari-sauri: ...inclined. Prabhupada: Not that a sudra man is by force become a brahmana. You cannot improve. That is not possible. But even if he remains a sudra and does accordingly, he will get the same position as devotee. Sva-karmana tam abhyarcya sam... He’ll get the perfection. At the present moment the idea is: if one remains a sudra, then he cannot get perfection. No. Even a sudra can get perfection provided he does the work of a sudra perfectly. Hari-sauri: For Krishna. Prabhupada: Therefore why a sudra artificially should be a brahmana? Let them, let him remain a sudra, and if he follows strictly the rules and regulation of sudra, he’ll also be as good as a brahmana. The same example: Just like head is as important as my leg. It is not that because it is leg, it is less important than my head. And if you ask the head, “Do the work of a leg,” it is impossible. And if you ask the leg to work as a brain, that is impossible. Let him remain brain, let him remain leg, and do your duty and you become perfect. (end quote) The problem is everyone has their own understanding and not what has come from Srila Prabhupada, you were all tricked into being servents of the sinister movement that is opposed to the explanations from Guru's mouth and books. Having your own belief is still keeping a part of your heart separate from surrendering fully to the authority greater than you, Sri Guru. This is the problem, you have not fully surrendered and still have keep something back for yourelf, like Hari-sauri in the above conversation. Or show how I have understood these conversations wrong. Hare Krsna, Caturbahu das Bhakti Raja
  11. Hare Krsna Beggar Yesterday as well as today we still have in place of Srila Prabhupada's vani a sinister movement. I recognized the DVD instructions day one reading BG. It wasn't untill I came in contact with ISKCON that it was drilled into my head, just like you, that we were not to follow these books as writen. We are all going to be brahman. Didn't happen! Prabhupada says in these conversations that there exists a general fallen condition, so now we would embrace DVD inside ISKCON. Not for outsiders, but amoung our members. Prabhupada says like that, means 4 varnas, 4 asramas... SB 8.2.30 purport Our Krishna consciousness movement has actually declared war against the illusory energy, in which all the living entities are rotting in a false understanding of civilization. The soldiers in this Krishna consciousness movement must always possess physical strength, enthusiasm and sensual power. To keep themselves fit, they must therefore place themselves in a normal condition of life. What constitutes a normal condition will not be the same for everyone, and therefore there are divisions of varnasrama—brahmana, kshatriya, vaisya, sudra, brahmacarya, grihastha, vanaprastha and sannyasa. Especially in this age, Kali-yuga, it is advised that no one take sannyasa. (end quote) Where is Prabhupada saying 4 regs, He is not saying here. and if we take all the DVD conversations, which there are many more than just 1 or 2 we can see 4 reg in never said. And when asked where Prabhupada says...... 2/14/77 Hari-sauri: Where will we introduce the varnasrama system, then? Prabhupada: In our society, amongst our members. (end quote) My God man, are all of you people deaf, dumb and blinded to Srila Prabhupada? A monkey on the street can understand to do inside ISKCON. Introduced in our movement, 4 varnas and 4 asramas as previously discribed. I do not see 4 reg spoken here. Prabhupada forgot? In all the recorded conversations on DVD? No, You missed the point to behave within DVD regs. You do not have to preach this, I will. If someone is to be laughed at, I will take it for you. I will preach, in my name. Go ahead and laugh. I will have the last laugh. 'He who laughs last, laughs best' But I would wish not to laugh at all and just get on with some movement instead of the stagnation we have in America. Another thing is all you big schalars have as of yet to show how I have missunderstood these conversations by using these same conversations as evidence and saying you this is what should be the understanding. No. Why? Because I have it right as said. Hare Krsna, Caturbahu das Bhakti Raja
  12. Your as wrong as wrong can be Mahakasa. These conversations are very explicit in the explanations of DVD for ISKCON, would you care to site the portion that you think is miss understood? Twice Srila Prabhupada was asked about 4 regs and both times He said 'except' 'It is just like sex in marrage for procreation. And all through our books the same thing is explained about these varna regs. You think because you and the rest refused to impliment DVD that the words are of no use now? No. Instructions still stand for anyone to follow inspite of the detractors. Hare Krsna, Caturbahu das Bhakti Raja
  13. The contention is not that we shouldn't write our thoughts and realizations. It is the writing of transendental literature, like finishing SB after Prabhupada's samadhi. Or the qualification/authorization to translate and give commentary to the works of previous acharyas. An article for BTG is another thing and welcomed as we can see Srila Prabhupada encouraged this. Not the other. Hare Krsna, Caturbahu das Bhakti Raja
  14. Hare Krsna Guest------ Your question assumes that the devotee is offenceless in stature and cent per cent surrendered to Krsna. 'As they surrender unto Me' is the opperative consideration. Because he might be engaged in as much mental concentration on sex life as the service at hand. Mostly we use the lable of 'devotee' and it is not that the person 'is' a devotee by the true definition. We are mostly mixed and conditioned. Not pure, hence prone to fall over and over. A pure(100%) devotee does not fall and is under full protection. We are not of that status yet. We need all the help we can get. SB. 8.2.30 purport In the fighting between the elephant and the crocodile, the difference was that although the elephant was extremely powerful, he was in a foreign place, in the water. During one thousand years of fighting, he could not get any food, and under the circumstances his bodily strength diminished, and because his bodily strength diminished, his mind also became weak and his senses less powerful. The crocodile, however, being an animal of the water, had no difficulties. He was getting food and was therefore getting mental strength and sensual encouragement. Thus while the elephant became reduced in strength, the crocodile became more and more powerful. Now, from this we may take the lesson that in our fight with maya we should not be in a position in which our strength, enthusiasm and senses will be unable to fight vigorously. Our Krishna consciousness movement has actually declared war against the illusory energy, in which all the living entities are rotting in a false understanding of civilization. Especially in this age, Kali-yuga, it is advised that no one take sannyasa. asvamedham gavalambham sannyasam pala-paitrikam devarena sutotpattim kalau panca vivarjayet [Cc. Adi 17.164] (Brahma-vaivarta Purana) From this we can understand that in this age the sannyasa-asrama is forbidden because people are not strong. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu showed us an example in taking sannyasa at the age of twenty-four years, but even Sarvabhauma Bhattacarya advised Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu to be extremely careful because He had taken sannyasa at an early age. For preaching we give young boys sannyasa, but actually it is being experienced that they are not fit for sannyasa. There is no harm, however, if one thinks that he is unfit for sannyasa; if he is very much agitated sexually, he should go to the asrama where sex is allowed, namely the grihastha-asrama. That one has been found to be very weak in one place does not mean that he should stop fighting the crocodile of maya. One should take shelter of the lotus feet of Krishna, as we shall see Gajendra do, and at the same time one can be a grihastha if he is satisfied with sexual indulgence. There is no need to give up the fight. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu therefore recommended, sthane sthitah sruti-gatam tanu-van-manobhih. One may stay in whichever asrama is suitable for him; it is not essential that one take sannyasa. If one is sexually agitated, he can enter the grihastha-asrama. But one must continue fighting. For one who is not in a transcendental position, to take sannyasa artificially is not a very great credit. If sannyasa is not suitable, one may enter the grihastha-asrama and fight maya with great strength. But one should not give up the fighting and go away. Hare Krsna, CBR
  15. Hare Krsna Anadi The violence is the continued dissuading sadhikas to Srila Prabhupada, even after so much evidence presented for us to follow DVD. CBR
  16. Anadi, Anadi, anadi, so violent. The more you speak, the less relevant you are. Dimestore philosopher, the subject DVD is completely irrelevant to the your postings. Or is it your postings are irrelevant to the subject of DVD. I get those mixed up. Hare Krsna, Caturbahu das Bhakti Raja
  17. This purport is no more relevent that the author. None. He also said that Kirtananda was a pure devotee in one of his purports. People like him are going to the most abnoxious place in the universe as per Sri Isopanisad verse 12 purport. If you like it then by all means. Hare Krsna, Caturbahu das Bhatki Raja
  18. But I couldn't resist posting these 2 verses after reading them.......... TEXT 39 TEXT avritam jnanam etena jnanino nitya-vairina kama-rupena kaunteya dushpurenanalena ca avritam—covered; jnanam—pure consciousness; etena—by this; jnaninah—of the knower; nitya-vairina—eternal enemy; kama-rupena—in the form of lust; kaunteya—O son of Kunti; dushpurena—never to be satisfied; analena—by the fire; ca—also. TRANSLATION Thus, a man’s pure consciousness is covered by his eternal enemy in the form of lust, which is never satisfied and which burns like fire. PURPORT It is said in the Manu-smriti that lust cannot be satisfied by any amount of sense enjoyment, just as fire is never extinguished by a constant supply of fuel. In the material world, the center of all activities is sex, and thus this material world is called maithunya-agara, or the shackles of sex life. In the ordinary prison house, criminals are kept within bars; similarly, the criminals who are disobedient to the laws of the Lord are shackled by sex life. Advancement of material civilization on the basis of sense gratification means increasing the duration of the material existence of a living entity. Therefore, this lust is the symbol of ignorance by which the living entity is kept within the material world. While one enjoys sense gratification, it may be that there is some feeling of happiness, but actually that so-called feeling of happiness is the ultimate enemy of the sense enjoyer. Bg 3.40 TEXT 40 TEXT indriyani mano buddhir asyadhishthanam ucyate etair vimohayaty esha jnanam avritya dehinam indriyani—the senses; manah—the mind; buddhih—the intelligence; asya—of the lust; adhishthanam—sitting place; ucyate—called; etaih—by all these; vimohayati—bewilders; eshah—of this; jnanam—knowledge; avritya—covering; dehinam—the embodied. TRANSLATION The senses, the mind and the intelligence are the sitting places of this lust, which veils the real knowledge of the living entity and bewilders him. PURPORT The enemy has captured different strategic positions in the body of the conditioned soul, and therefore Lord Krishna is giving hints of those places, so that one who wants to conquer the enemy may know where he can be found. Mind is the center of all the activities of the senses, and thus the mind is the reservoir of all ideas of sense gratification; and, as a result, the mind and the senses become the repositories of lust. Next, the intelligence department becomes the capital of such lustful propensities. Intelligence is the immediate next-door neighbor of the spirit soul. Lusty intelligence influences the spirit soul to acquire the false ego and identify itself with matter, and thus with the mind and senses. The spirit soul becomes addicted to enjoying the material senses and mistakes this as true happiness. This false identification of the spirit soul is very nicely explained in the Srimad-Bhagavatam: yasyatma-buddhih kunape tri-dhatuke sva-dhih kalatradishu bhauma idyadhih yat-tirtha-buddhih salite na karhicij janeshv abhijneshu sa eva gokharah. "A human being who identifies this body made of three elements with his self, who considers the by-products of the body to be his kinsmen, who considers the land of birth as worshipable, and who goes to the place of pilgrimage simply to take a bath rather than meet men of transcendental knowledge there, is to be considered as an ass or a cow." Hare Krsna, Caturbahu das Bhakti Raja
  19. Where is the offending statment to NM? Pretender? so mild. Still amoung family and not so offensive as to stand toe to toe with NM, coming to the same conclusion. As I would say to an older brother I was calling BS to. Family! Not for you! You have said. Anadi DVD is not for you, apperantly, you are all ready cent-per-cent pure. So leave this DVD to those still entraped in the tight snare of Maya that need some mechanical/material help. The help is coming from Guru in the form of DVD. You are doing your level best to dissuade the sadhikas from adhereing to guidence from Srila Prabhupada to fix their failings in execution of pure service. STOP IT. It is menacing/misleading the disciples of Srila Prabhupada. You are vilolent! This subject is not for you. You are the one in a million, not the rest of us, we are fallen and need DVD to help make the way easier. Hare Krsna, Caturbahu das Bhakti Raja
  20. Human prosperity flourishes by natural gifts and not by gigantic industrial enterprises. The gigantic industrial enterprises are products of a godless civilization, and they cause the destruction of the noble aims of human life. The more we go on increasing such troublesome industries to squeeze out the vital energy of the human being, the more there will be unrest and dissatisfaction of the people in general, although a few only can live lavishly by exploitation. The natural gifts such as grains and vegetables, fruits, rivers, the hills of jewels and minerals, and the seas full of pearls are supplied by the order of the Supreme, and as He desires, material nature produces them in abundance or restricts them at times. The natural law is that the human being may take advantage of these godly gifts by nature and satisfactorily flourish on them without being captivated by the exploitative motive of lording it over material nature. The more we attempt to exploit material nature according to our whims of enjoyment, the more we shall become entrapped by the reaction of such exploitative attempts. If we have sufficient grains, fruits, vegetables and herbs, then what is the necessity of running a slaughterhouse and killing poor animals? A man need not kill an animal if he has sufficient grains and vegetables to eat. The flow of river waters fertilizes the fields, and there is more than what we need. Minerals are produced in the hills, and the jewels in the ocean. If the human civilization has sufficient grains, minerals, jewels, water, milk, etc., then why should it hanker after terrible industrial enterprises at the cost of the labor of some unfortunate men? But all these natural gifts are dependent on the mercy of the Lord. What we need, therefore, is to be obedient to the laws of the Lord and achieve the perfection of human life by devotional service. The indications by Kuntidevi are just to the point. She desires that God’s mercy be bestowed upon them so that natural prosperity be maintained by His grace. Hare Krsna, CBR.
  21. What truth are you saying has been usurpt? Are you a supported of slaughterhouses? CBR
  22. First we convey an idea, then devotees take it up. Unless and Until devotees take to this DVD, where is the question of others? One has to come before the other. Luckly you and the other dissenters are not the only readers. First devotee must take the instruction to show how it is done. On line right now is a practical test and people like you have been resistant from the begining of this thread. If the idea is not embraced then action will not take place. The idea has been assimilated, now let us wait and see how a neddle becomes a plow. You are the test, or you are being tested now. Your reactions to this thread is a test. How will you fair in the eyes of Guru or parampara? Those whom curtail imbiding this DVD will be judged harshly me thinks. Who was a help and who stood in the way. Srila Prabhupada's Godbrothers did nothing to help Prabhupada come to the West nor did they at all support/help this flegling ISKCON mission get off the ground. But when it folorished, they wanted recognition and position from it. The real test is Guru, shastra and sadu. All match. Testing done. It is not up to us to say a thing is or is not good after Prabhupada has spoken. We are not authorities of the parampara. Srila Prabhupada is, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Prabhupada is, not whether you or I fail at a given task. That is not the test. Your posts never have relivent shastra, in context or subject. Where does it say in Srila Prabhupada's books that there is testing whether Prabhupada's order is right or wrong? And if we fail to execute or produce fruit from that order, then Prabhupada's order is now wrong? Hare Krsna, Caturbahu das Bhakti Raja
  23. Best to work with devotees, but many times that proves difficult. So why not anyone then? Yes, one can work for a non devotee. 'Education' meaning? No matter. Sure a job is a job unless it is like a slaughterhouse! Why is selling Hong Kong paintings a scam? Because there is lieing? Grow up. But low sell high. It is rudimentry. Vaishyas are not brahmans, they lie to make profit, it is done in every selling type business. This is not a scam! And not against our principles. Hare Krsna, Caturbahu das Bhakti raja
  24.
