I have seen Mandi being mentioned in various astrology softwares. Some mention it some don't but I haven't seen any utility. What is Mandi? Why is Mandi used? Why is it not used widely? Also I have a doubt with Asc and Lagna. Asc is the point from where we calculate the 1st house but then what is lagna? Why is lagna different from ascendent? I know these are basics, but I'm a novice and would appreciate if it can be explained. thnx Ayush

Hi Rahu in Lagna alone without any beneficial aspect will surely give bad face, lower jobs, problems in life etc. Since Rahu is concerned with foreign land, it also makes a prime stand over foreign travel, foreign interests, sometimes even looks of a foreigner or thinking / personality. I remember once you mentioned in the forum that your chart is so very similar to another native, where you both are overseas and working and the native was under Kaal Sarp yoga, if I can recall properly. Do write in how your Rahu MD has been yet, and how much influential you are with foreign cultures. I'm sure people can learn many a things from this discussion. I've also read somewhere that Rahu in Cancer and ketu in Capricorn is the worst position for them. But Rahu's fall is in Gemini so I ain't sure about it. Hello Everyone, How are the effects of yogas formed by malefics? Is it negative or yogas don't have much to do with the planet being benefic or malefic. Like if Hamsa Maha Purush yoga (Jupiter exalted or in own sign) is formed, but Jupiter is a malefic for the birth ascendent, then what is the outcome of the yoga? Also if kaal sarp yoga is formed in a chart, but Rahu and Ketu are benefically placed, then what are the outcomes? Thnx Ayush

Dear Ananth, If you read BV Raman's Astrology for beginners, it will give you enough idea how Vedic Astrology works. Next you pick another book on bhavas and there would be several combinations, like if Sun is in 1st house then this will happen. In this way you can do predictions. But a prediction like that is not an indepth one. Astrologers here like USR Ji, Deepa Ji, sasisekaran and a few others have practised t his science for a long time now. When they look at Sun in 1st house they see its malefic or benefic, they see type of house its airy or earth or water sign, then they look for strength, and many more. This is just the beginning of the analysis. Later dasas are checked which shows what happend and will happen at what time. What are the chances of an incident happening, ect ect. So reaching that level takes time and regular practise. I started studying astrology on one summer vacation in 2001, and till now I don't even know how to use Navamsa while analysing a chart. This is beacuse I was never consistent. Although now a days I've been learning a few more things than ever specially from this forum. Finally I would advise you, don't get into predictions unless you have learnt the science of astrology widely. A Little Knowledge is always a Dangerous Thing. wbr Ayush

You will surely go wonders in your life. Your chart says that. I'm not sure how strong your Neech Bhang Raj Yoga is. There are two Neech Bhang yogas in your chart and it looks good. Ask good astrologers in the forum they can clarify how strong your neech bhang raj yoga is. wbr Ayush

The subject of the thread felt more like the Bajaj Pulsar or some other bike advertisement always saying I'm God and stuff. Well good thoughts there hindustani. But moksha is something which one gets by himself. Its a complicated topic for me to touch base with but with simple thought all I say is, by doing something good to a dying soul in any of the ways, one can satisfy his/her own soul. My maternal grandfather had a very bad fate and he died of alzeimer's disease last year. My parents took care of him and even I did it at times. Another confusing aspect is Vimsottari mahadasha. Under Rahu + Mercury dasha, I enjoyed great social life. And since August 2003, i.e. Rahu + Venus my social life has been very bad. At times it even went difficult for me to get along. How could this be explained with a combust mercury. Thnx Ayush

I have deeply combust mercury in my chart. If a planet is combust it looses the physical properties but has a stand over mental properties. I have Virgo Asc ruled by Mercury, which is placed in 2nd House Libra with Saturn and Venus. No doubt combust mercury gave me very good communication skills, intelligence (which people say), and to some extent affection to astronomy/astrology and mathematical sciences. Physically, I'm lean and have a fairly attractive look, although my skin is sort of oversensitive which I presume a deeply combust mercury clarifies. But I'm gifted with a good personality. So a deeply combust mercury with the ascendent's lord being mercury, how come I have a good personality, as it is a physical properly. Another explaination could be required about my weak memory which is a mental property but sometimes I can't remember words but yes I can recall incidents.
