5. Chapter 3. Karma-yoga TEXT 39 avrtam jnanam etena jnanino nitya-vairina kama-rupena kaunteya duspurenanalena ca SYNONYMS avrtam--covered; jnanam--pure consciousness; etena--by this; jnaninah--of the knower; nitya-vairina--eternal enemy; kama-rupena--in the form of lust; kaunteya--O son of Kunti; duspurena--never to be satisfied; analena--by the fire; ca--also. TRANSLATION Thus, a man's pure consciousness is covered by his eternal enemy in the form of lust, which is never satisfied and which burns like fire. PURPORT It is said in the Manu-smrti that lust cannot be satisfied by any amount of sense enjoyment, just as fire is never extinguished by a constant supply of fuel. In the material world, the center of all activities is sex, and thus this material world is called maithunya-agara, or the shackles of sex life. In the ordinary prison house, criminals are kept within bars; similarly, the criminals who are disobedient to the laws of the Lord are shackled by sex life. Advancement of material civilization on the basis of sense gratification means increasing the duration of the material existence of a living entity. Therefore, this lust is the symbol of ignorance by which the living entity is kept within the material world. While one enjoys sense gratification, it may be that there is some feeling of happiness, but actually that so-called feeling of happiness is the ultimate enemy of the sense enjoyer.
6. Hare Krishna! ..Not sure how you prepare to cross the Indian Ocean prabhu!
7. "What if Lord Shivas devotees ask you the same question in reverse? What is Lord Krishna without Lord siva" I meant both ways prabhu
8. Hare Krishna I don't think it's a crime to love Krishna and His devotee! "Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva as supreme and as same" I think the above is achieved when you have a higher understanding of Krishna and His devotee.. Srila Vyasadeva - incarnation of Krishna knew this.. But maybe some Lord Siva devotees forget about Krishna? So then it remains that whats Lord Siva without Lord Krishna
9. Haribol! /images/graemlins/laugh.gif
10. HK This is my opinion, SP was/is a pure devotee with the highest love for Krishna (prema), there was nobody present on the Earth then who could match his devotion as he was an Acaraya from Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, he has many disiples capable of initiating-Supersoul willing to help.. Since the chain of disiplic succession is still unbroken, there has to be another Acarya somewhere on this Earth at present...only Krishna can guide you to him.. Could somebody clarify this without going all 'ritvik' on me /images/graemlins/wink.gif
11. HK I was thinking will Mahaprabhu desend again to this material world in this present age of kali? I came across a site a while back with a timer on it saying something about it, but I can't quite remember /images/graemlins/confused.gif Haribol!

20. ---- You should chant the holy name of the Lord in a humble state of mind, ----thinking one-self lower than the straw in the street, ---- you should be more tolerant than a tree, ----devoid of all sense of false prestige, ----in this state of mind you can chant the holy name of the Lord constantly. /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/smile.gif
21. HK Well..most people may or may Not!..go to the temple just to bow down before the Lord, most with material desires..like I used too, but then I started to question, why is this person God and not me?..and then I did not have the Gita to read, so I was watching Mahabarata serial when Krishna instructs Arjuna, I watched so many times trying to understand and I asked Lord Krishna to maybe(?) instruct me somehow (sorry about the life story!).. anyway because of my reading the Hanuman Chalisa everyday, I had more attraction for Lord Sri Rama, so I read the Ramayana (3 big books), which was very nice, and then I maybe desired to read the Gita, and I received a copy from my uncle..The moment I picked it up I could feel that it would change my life, I read really fast (my right eye wouldn't stop flickering for 2 whole days) and I think at one point I was even thinking of Krishna in my sleep (I sure I was Krishna Conscious for a day?!)..but then maya comes and attacks you plus I have no spiritual master yet, but I pray everyday.......Haribol & Happy Feasting!
22. HK I think the devotee building the site was aware of demi-god 'worship', but the site is aimed at Raganuga bhakti, so he may have thought it obvious that people coming to the site would know what Hindu worship meant... because to tell the truth Hindus are so used to going to the temple, that there destination to the Vaikuntha planets must be assured as they have witnessed deity worship time and time again...Haribol & Happy Fasting!
23. HK I got this from a new web-site Yugal .com Different religions take you to different destinations: Christianity -- You will go to heavenly planets (inside this universe) Islam -----------You will go to heavenly planets (inside this universe) Buddhism -----You will go to Nirvana (Brahman) empty space outside of universe - loosing personality If you worship- Sri Sri Radha-Krishna you will go to Goloka Vrindavana /images/graemlins/laugh.gif /images/graemlins/laugh.gif /images/graemlins/laugh.gif Haribol!!
