  1. Joking apart ... I personally feel Prabhu Srila Prabhupada's writings and krishna's name are enough for a person searching his way out of the darkness of worldly maya... so frankly where is the need for a guru...
  2. We should request the International Organization for Standardization to issue gurus with a ISO 9001:2000 certification Or maybe the Indian Parliament could come up with a "bharat stage 3" for gurus
  3. (Commune = together) (Cation = to do/done) = communication language makes communication possible you have yourself given the answer within your question itself...
  4. in trinidad and some other places hinduism has been seemlessly merged with existing traditions of voodooism and shamanism the "cokee eyes" and "brokoo feet" mentioned by the initiator of the thread is a part of voodooism.
  5. Hinduism is a vast ocean... there is the bright surface which lives in the sunlight and there are dark chasms which run so deep and dark that even the most learned ones fear to tread that path... There is the dark form of vamatantra where Kali is the presiding mother goddess... there are aghori sadhus who are into eating human flesh... and the powers that can be generated by vamatantra are truly tremendous... hinduism has stayed and flourished for only one reason and that is hinduism has a live and let live attitude... we dont try to enforce how a person should worship god... each is free to worship it in his way as per his individual merit... and each will get just deserts of that worship... Tantra does have a way of getting even... and even tantra advices when and where tantra can and should be used. and the advice one would give is that common people should leave tantra alone... it is only for shakti upasaks... who seek nothing out of that shakti...
  6. Every path leads to god... anythign done with total dedication and love can lead to godhood... you have to only look up the story of the sati mahananda... she was a sati same as Uma, Seeta, savitri... Mahananda was a prostitute... yet she lived a very austere life and she accepted any one who came to her as a form of lord shiva... She was a sati because whoever she slept with in her mind it was always lord shiva that she was pleasing with her body...one day to test her lord shiva himself appeared as a beggar with leprosy... (in those days leprosy was a feared damnation) sati Mahanda looked at him and took him into her house... shiva was pleased to see the love that the woman treated him with in spite of him being a leper...
  7. I know it is so unfair.... krishna does everything ... and poor me goes to jail ...
  8. It was another time and another period with a different set of values then those we hold dear today... so i guess it would be difficult to reply as to if Arjuna's decision not to fight was right or wrong, However history is written by the victor... And the pandavas emerged victorious... and thy wrote history. Imagine what the history mythology and all hindu scriptures would have been if the kauravas had won the war...
  9. The kali beej mantra is "Kreem" which is pronounced with a nasal sound very close to kring
  10. interesting thought... next time they take me in for robbery or murder or rape .... i am going to plead to the judge.... krishna made me do it
  11. Read the thread... What i make out is that so many people have so many firm opinions about Gandhi... Some find him good... others find him diametrically opposite... I am not big enough to comment on gandhi the person and the politician... But one thing for sure... it is the making of a great man ...that so many should have diverging firm opinions about one single man ...and should be willing to fight over it 50 years after the man's death... so remember good or bad gandhi was a great man... jai hind
  12. a world where every human was exactly like any other human... in intelligence, looks, physical attributes, opportunities and background would be a world of robots and clones... and god doesnt believe in such a simplistic world... God doesnt believe in a world made by Intel and microsoft god loves to play dice... and individuality has its own unque flavour in gods creation... love this world with all its inequalities... Well one explaination is that each one of us is everything in one of his/her lives, a worm, a bug , a fish, a turtle, a bird, a pig, a handicapped person and a fully healthy human.... etc etc....
  13. Shilajit is a blackish-brown semisolid mass, mainly consisting of a mixture of low molecular weight organic compounds and paleohumus, naturally exuding from steep rocks in many mountain ranges especially in Himalayan and Hindukush ranges of Indian Subcontinent. Today, Shilajit is understood to be a remnant of vegetational fossils that has undergone a high amount of metamorphosis due to temperature, moisture and the pressure of the earth. The discovery of Shilajit is said to be made by some Himalayan tribal villagers, who observed white monkeys (a species of monkey found in the Himalayas) migrate to higher mountains in summer months. The monkeys were observed to lick the semi-solid substance exuding out of rock crevices. Since observing animal behaviors were an important part of healthcare research in ancient times, the villagers attributed the great strength, longevity and wisdom of those monkeys to this substance. Out of curiosity, they themselves started taking the substance and reported a broad spectrum of improvement in their health and stamina. It gave them more energy, relieved digestive problems, increased SEX DRIVE So... Nothing stops a person from becoming a himalayan white monkey
  14. Very True, the story of eklavya is a part of indian mythology... a guru does speed up the process... a enlightened guru can correct your mistakes for he has "been there done that" so a guru does speed up your time... but there are not many enlightened gurus (alive in physical form)... without a guru aquiring of knowlwdge is a painful trial and error method...
  15. hinduism is a religion which is one of the oldest living religions in the world. its origions are undated but are believed to be linked with the evolution of mankind in the religion. there is no single founder of this religion but there are those who have breathed life into it from time to time. there is no single teaching per se it is basically a way of life... or a collage of various way of lives. there are various practises... the brahiminical practices which believes in vegetarianism... rituals and chanting... the shakta practices whch worship the mother goddess (shakti - energy) the tantrik practices which believes in worshiping human sexuality and powers which unleash therein. the aghori practices of worshiping of the bhutas(ghosts) along with practice such as eating human flesh... it is a strange thing how all these practices can be a part of hinduism but they are accepted as a inherent part of hinduism...
  16. The mahavidya sadhanas are a part of tantrik hinduism and tantrik buddhism i pickedup a link from the net hope it suits ur requirement http://www.siddhashram.org/s19981155.shtml
  17. earplugs are for ears alone. in bombay u will realise that the sound levels are so high that you can hear the sound of the traffic from your feet .... in fact i have a sound resistant meditation room and it still doesnt suffice
  18. We all realise that Saudi Arabia considers IRAN as a more direct threat then Israel... we also see that Saudi Arabia is hiking prices of oil... they have the maximum muscle power in OPEC. The americans would have found it mush easier to hand the iraqi government in the hands of the shia majority post saddam. it was saudi arabia which didnt want a shiaite rule in iraq... I think it is riyadh and not tel aviv where the puppetmasters are (to American middle east policy)
  19. Well which nation is above reproach... In politics everyone is dirty... and if the USA is paying israel 30 Billion over 10 years then it is not out of any great magnimity... It is only because more than 50 % of the money in the USA is from the jewish lobby. Why is the US not so magnanimous when it comes to funding of poor african nations... Personally i feel that the israeli government is too week to compell USA to do anything... in fact israel as a nation has been created and is being sustained by the USA to push its agenda in the middle east. and if anyone is pushing the USA to do or not to do anything at the moment it is the SAUDI led OPEC which seems to be pushing up the oil prices and blackmailing the US follows its desires on the nutralising shiaite IRAN.
  20. Truely the religion has "dispersed" as u rightly put it.... however let me remind u that this "dispersal" has happened inspite of them keeping a steady line Popes From Peter till date... this line of popes has been in stringent adherence to the guru shishya parampara and still look what has happened...
  21. one question dear friends .... tell me about EKLAVYA.... when the real master wasnt present Eklavya learnt the finest form of archery merely from a stone idol and when the real master did come into his life it was only to take the thumb (and his skill) away.
  22. मां सर्वसंपदा देहि देहि seems to be the right form... however this mantra will need to be said before a picture or statue of the goddess laxmi that u are praying to... generally a laxmi mantra will be of the form "om shreem. maa laxmi sarvasampada dehi dehi"
  23. As i had said kundalini is the apex of physical and mental tapasya and is not the same as kundali whereas kundali is a part of vedic astrology and yog can be of various types depending on the the position of planets in your chart... Gaja Kesari Yoga (jupiter and moon) Such people would earn a lot of name and fame in life. A quality of generosity would also be associated with them. Pancha Mahapurusha Yoga- (5 planets) wealth, name and fame Ruchaka yoga: (mars) Bravery and arrogance. Bhadra yoga: (mercury)orator/writer governing business Hamsa yoga: (jupiter)he would never get in trouble. Malavaya yoga: (venus)loving and supporting wife, good businessman with expansion skills Shasha yoga: (saturn)profound and deep thinker. makes a person cold and calculating.
  24. Well two options... neither seems nice... either mata ganga felt lust... Or param pita brahma lied... between the frying pan and the fire... So i would chose to accept indulekhaji's statement and let it be at that... However today seeing the pollution that mother ganga has to face i come to a realisation that kaliyug is truly upon us... how we humans defile a river which is the symbol of eternal purity...
