Hi Nikki

> I wasn't big into Sabbath after Ozzy left either.

Well you should try some of the Dio stuff... particularly Dehumanizer. If

you don't expect the same Sabbath sound, then you might enjoy them... I

reckon that the singer of Sabbath has always been the main influence for

their sound... Ozzy's solo stuff is an extension of what he did in Sabbath,

Dio's solo stuff like-wise, when Ian Gillan was with them they had a Gillan

tinge...

Hi Fraggle

I didn't mean you missed out on doing anything like going to concerts

or having fun - I just meant sharing some things with your dad - but

from what you say, I understand.

Brian Howe replaced Paul Rodgers from 1986-1991. In 1991, Steve Walsh took

over, and in 1994 Robert Hart. Not sure if he's still the singer, or even if

they're still going!

Hi Peter

I agree the black album was their last good album. We saw, just once,

an extended video to the Unforgiven, on Headbangers Ball. Every time

we saw it afterwards it was a shortened version. It was weird though.

I reckon the Tool videos are the best ones - especially the ones for

Intoxicated (?) and Prison Sex (?).

You may well do... but since you've not seen a photo of me, you wouldn't know who I am... so I can easily avoid buying cake... I'll just claim that I'm Ephraim Gadsby, and you'll never know. :-)

Hi Peter / Nikki

I've only heard it once - must have another listen. I can't think of

all the tunes involved, but Timo Tolkki does a good solo which I think

sounds like Paganini, in fact I'll have to go through some of the cds

to see which ones have this type of solo.

I think they last toured in 2003, if I remember correctly. They still have

an official site up but there isn't much there.

I agree,

it would to be a natural thing, if both parents and children

like the same kind of music. that is a good coincidence.

but my seven year old just announced that he likes country music!

I cannot get over this, I will never like country music!

it is just tooo corny for me. sorry.

but, alas,

I have to accept him, he is his own individual. I just don't want to

be in the same car when that music is on.(don't tell him)

It cannot be! I used to work at the Metropolitan Opera House!

this was two and a half years ago, I left to have the baby.

I did not realize this at the time, but I was beginning to have the

personality

of an opera snob, because, I hung out with opera snobs, which

I realize makes me ugly, but know I am not like that,

opera can be enjoyed, without being a snob.

In the UK I have noticed that the audience varies with each genre of

rock or metal. Death and black metal audiences tend to be very

gentle affairs, as do prog rock/metal ones. The hardcore metal

audiences are more energetic, and the melodic/aor audiences can be in

between. The only time I've been hassled was at a Magnum concert -

but my guess is it was some whippersnapper who thought I shouldn't be

up the front - still - that's where I stayed.

HI Anouk

There was a time when I liked country music - we used to listen to

the country music programme on the radio every Thursday evening. Now

I can't listen for long. There are only two types of music I can't

stand, the first being rap, and the second the wailing sort - Whitney

Houston, or the girl wailing in Pink Floyd.

Hi Jo

That's what I hope to be for my son and his friends. I want them to

know that they can always turn to us for help no matter what the

situation. And in turn we promise not to jump to conclusions and to

try to remain relatively calm.

But Jo you must admit that sometimes Peter is...

;)

(sorry, couldn't resist!)

I do know what you mean though, it is that natural motherly instinct

to protect and defend our child(ren) at all costs.

I think Fraggle meant more from a cultural stand point that it was

strange to him. Most teens in the US want nothing to do with their

parents in a public setting. It's a peer pressure / independence type

thing.

I do have to say though that I know Peter is well aware of how you

would protect him if need be. In fact I mentioned to him offlist that

Fraggle or I may not let him leave the states and he pretty much said

that we would then have to contend with you and it could get ugly. But

you must know at that point I said that we would keep you too!
