both

and, yes, absolutely positive

:)

moshin was the term east coasters coined fer slam dancing..the first people to use the term are either attributed to agnostic front, er bad brains..both in 1980 er 1981

when you were in NYC, you moshed in the pit...

on the west coast, you slammed, skanked, er did the huntington beach shuffle, depending on wot year it was, er wot part of the west coast..

moshin moved ot the metal scene a few years later....

Hey, this is "real" CA and we have REAL trees and I may be inland a tad now but I was living on the coast that is shaking, rattling and rolling for the last week or two. Fact of the matter is my ancestors have been there for 10,000 or so years. Why, my family even sold the city the land for its first graveyard <g>

And, we didn't vote for Schwartzenazi! Further inland where their brains have been polluted by the winds sailing up the valley from Sacrapimento are some of the dimwits that voted for him!

produced much better stuff solo than with Black Sabbath, especially

with Randy Rhodes and Zakk Wylde. IMO Black Sabbath were much

better with Dio, although of course, Dio is excellent with his own

band - we are booked to see him again in October. I've been to

Black Sabbath concerts, with Ozzy and with Dio. They were both

good, but I enjoyed Ozzy for a sort of 'original' band thing - Dio's

performance was much sharper. He can't help being small, and I

don't think that should be picked on.

hes back performing with them now and again, but as he recently said

in an interview ( or mumbled ), the reason that they have not

released any new stuff together is because nothing they can come up

with is a patch on the old Sabbath stuff. A nice sensible sentiment

I think, I mean look at Motley Crue!!!!!!! ha, ha, ha, ha,

I couldnt disagree more,...ah well we will just have to agree to disagree.

I think that Sabbath lost some of their individuality when the rest of them were plotting to chuck Ozzy out ( Technical Ecstasy days ), and certainly didnt regain it without him. The first four Sabbath albums are the definitive collection for me. I can still remember the first time I heard the tolling of the bell on the first Sabbath album many years ago, they were unique.

I do however agree that Randy Rhodes was an amazing talent, and even though most of Ozzies first two solo jobbies were O.K., they lacked a certain something for me, and the rest of his stuff was even worse( a bit like Alice Cooper when he booted the band out ).

Just an old b*stards opinion

IMO Black Sabbath were much better with Dio, although of course, Dio is excellent with his own band - we are booked to see him again in October. I've been to Black Sabbath concerts, with Ozzy and with Dio. They were both good, but I enjoyed Ozzy for a sort of 'original' band thing - Dio's performance was much sharper. He can't help being small, and I don't think that should be picked on.

Sorry Peter, but Sabbath without Ozzy?!!!? nah not for me, fancy thinking they bring in that dwarf to replace him!....Any hoo, hes back performing with them now and again, but as he recently said in an interview ( or mumbled ), the reason that they have not released any new stuff together is because nothing they can come up with is a patch on the old Sabbath stuff. A nice sensible sentiment I think, I mean look at Motley Crue!!!!!!! ha, ha, ha, ha,

I think you're memory is a little faulty... the "Liberator" was one of the best special effects on TV at the time (OK, it pales into comparison with modern TV, but they didn't have computers back then) - way better than anything that programmes like Star Trek had to offer. The actors were generally highly regarded, and have mostly had very successful careers with the RSC - not something that you can say about "bad" actors. And the script and setting, at least at the start were very imaginative. OK, the original plot has been replicated numerous times by later programmes - but at the time it was unique.

It was a family favourite, and I believe rather popular all round at the time. As I said before, I think the acting was just in a tyle typical to British telly at the time.

I presume it came from the pogo stick, and it is jumping up and down. I think over here slamming and skanking are not the same thing. Slamming is what is says - slamming into each other, with pinballing being similar, but I thought skanking was dancing in a similar style to that in the Madness videos. My daughter had several years fairly recetly as a ska etc. fan, and the dancing they did was skanking. I feel almost totally certain she wouldn't slam dance cos she's not very big, and is not the type.

i'm not very big either....

come on..does the name fraggle conjure up images of gigantism?

as fer skankin..yeah..there is a ska version of skanking as well

if you have a month, i could break down all the differentiations of all the dances.... Jo Cwazy Jun 21, 2005 10:30 AM Re: Re: North Wales holiday

Re: Re: North Wales holiday

pogoing started in the UK circa 76

slamming is accredited to the Socal scene circa 79-80(and all its other names...skankin, etc)

the appelation of moshing is a east coast term....NYC especially....about 80-81 peter hurd Jun 21, 2005 10:00 AM Re: Re: North Wales holiday

Here we are headbangers, moshers, metalheads, thrashers but not hessians or heshers.

Re: Re: North Wales holiday

it somehow goes back to the Germans, but how it originated i'm not sure

it was just the term everyone called heavy metal fans back in the 80's..

i'd never heard it until like 83, and that was in SoCal...

by 86-87 it was common pretty much everywhere overhere...

heshers were generally the ragged long haired heavy metalers, who wore denim...

as opposed to glam metal

er black metal

er death metal

etc and so forth.... Jo Cwazy Jun 19, 2005 12:16 PM Re: Re: North Wales holiday

bu why? what is the basis?

Hi Jo

> hessian

I thought he was calling us Germans (i.e. from Hesse), but I'm as confused as you are as to why!
