I think that Sabbath lost some of their individuality when the rest of them were plotting to chuck Ozzy out ( Technical Ecstasy days ), and certainly didnt regain it without him. The first four Sabbath albums are the definitive collection for me. I can still remember the first time I heard the tolling of the bell on the first Sabbath album many years ago, they were unique. I do however agree that Randy Rhodes was an amazing talent, and even though most of Ozzies first two solo jobbies were O.K., they lacked a certain something for me, and the rest of his stuff was even worse( a bit like Alice Cooper when he booted the band out ). I've been to Black Sabbath concerts, with Ozzy and with Dio. They were both good, but I enjoyed Ozzy for a sort of 'original' band thing - Dio's performance was much sharper. I think that Sabbath lost some of their individuality when the rest of them were plotting to chuck Ozzy out ( Technical Ecstasy days ), and certainly didnt regain it without him. The first four Sabbath albums are the definitive collection for me. I can still remember the first time I heard the tolling of the bell on the first Sabbath album many years ago, they were unique. I do however agree that Randy Rhodes was an amazing talent, and even though most of Ozzies first two solo jobbies were O.K., they lacked a certain something for me, and the rest of his stuff was even worse( a bit like Alice Cooper when he booted the band out ). Slamming is what is says - slamming into each other, with pinballing being similar, but I thought skanking was dancing in a similar style to that in the Madness videos. My daughter had several years fairly recetly as a ska etc. fan, and the dancing they did was skanking. I feel almost totally certain she wouldn't slam dance cos she's not very big, and is not the type.
