  1. WOAAH!!1 by the way you've been talking on this forum I would've at least guessed you were in your late twenties or thirties. Also, that guru that came to your house was he an actual initiating one? I tried to invite the master I know but he says he can't. He's not allowed relationships outside of ashram or something. We couldnt even cook his food.
  2. Also, being vegetarian is not something one should feel proud about. It is no great achievement. It's more or less a moral/ethical/spiritual obligation as we learn from the Bhagavad-Gita.
  3. Hmmmmph, *gasps*. As to what you were saying about about all this ovo-lovo-pesco-wovo vegetarian types, I really can't understand how the term has become so diverse. Either you eat meat or you don't. I think a possible reason for the advent of all these bogus terms is the fact that many people feel a great sense of pride in adopting the term 'vegetarian'. So yeah, you'll find people saying "Oh yes I am vegetarian, I don't eat chicken or cow, but I eat fish and egg" - apparently fish aren't cute enough for these people, so they eat them. What is the need in creating new terms for people who will only eat meat of a certain kind? They're all meat eaters, so wouldn't it make things much simpler if we went back to using the traditional terms "non-veg" and "vegetarian" to differentiate between a meat eater and non meat eater? Look at this way; all kinds of meats are readily available in supermarkets, a pescetarian doesn't exactly have to apply great effort on his part to make sure his food meets pescetarian standards. If in a restaurant a person orders fish the chef isn't going to assume he's a pescetarian and prepare his meal in some elaborate way, and nor would the chef prepare his meal any differently if he had been told by him that he was pescetarian. So what justice does the term in itself do apart from provide somekind of false prestige to the persons name? The term is pure fluff in my opinnion. I could go on further but I won't, as then it will turn into an even longer and sillier rant.
  4. Thanks for the great words theist, they were a big help. I've looked at the egg vegetarian thread and I've forwarded that link to the vegetarian society based in my country.
  5. Yeah I had a big problem with the customer services representative. They kept telling me about all these lacto vegetarian, all these different types, I had no idea what on earth she was talking about. I figured it was people just being loose with terms for example saying they're vegetarian but eat fish. I told her egg was a potential chicken embryo. And that by eating this i've sanctioned the killing of a potential chicken. She told me i didnt understand. Maybe I don't. But it's caused me grief, for compensation she's sending me vouchers. Gahhh. But anyhow, I'd like to see what else is in this product, does anyone have a link to a list of all the ingredients? I'm going to write a letter to vegetarian society to see if anything more can be done in compensation. Everybody boycott Sanitarium products
  6. Hare Krishna could someone please link me to the list where I can find the ingredients that are derived from animal flesh? I just bought some vegetarian burger patties and have just realized it's got egg white in it. I need to find out what actually is in this. thanks
  7. Yes, you can read whenever you want! Finishing the entire bhagavatam set in 7 days is an incredible goal. Please let us know if you manage to succeed in it!
  8. Thanks bhaktajan, you've made me want to read to him, If i'm allowed I'll ask a brahmin what are some good passages to read. Unfortunately he won't be able to eat. He was a problem with digestion. Some of tube of his isn't working. CCC, that was a very nice story. I would like to pass in a similar way to the grandmother. Or at least, fully submerged in thoughts of Krishna.
  9. Thanks skippy for sharing your personal insight, you've motivated me to actually try and be present as long as he's there. CCC, I want to chant, I want to give him japa, and I can so long as other family members, namely my grandma or mother would allow me to do so.
  10. That sounds so beautiful, you have a wonderful family.
  11. Thank you all for your kind words. I just visited him, he is either going to be released tomorrow or there will be some serious condition. At present they don't know the cause. A pandit visited him today and recited some mantra. I would like to give him japa beads, but I don't know if other family members would appreciate that.
  12. Hare Krishna everyone, My grandfather is sick in hospital, he may be near death - I don't really know, but It seems plausible as he is old. And I did happen to have a dream featuring crows a week ago. Though this is really mental speculation, apparently a dream featuring that element refers to death. I would like to give him some nice advice, do you think suggesting that he chant the Maha mantra in his present remaining/available time is good? I know he is very religious, so he may be doing things - I think they had a pandit go in and visit him, so maybe they're doing something good already.. Though this situation is very difficult for my parents, I seem to acknowledge within myself that though this is sad, sickness and death comes with the body. And Krishna did speak a lot on this matter of death. So I have a philosophical bearing in regards to tolerating such things. Maybe saying that makes me sound horrible - I just don't feel that terribly shaken to be honest. Death will come to everyone close to me and I will grieve, maybe, - but internally I understand that this all part of the material worlds nature. So please fellow devotees could you please suggest to me some good things to do or advise my grandfather in? I would suggest him to read something, but I don't think he's very able to do such a thing. Thank you, Gauranga !
  13. I feel so overwhelmed with all the material I need to read. I'm only on the first canto of the Bhagavatam and I've got so much more to read! It's good though hehe. I'll get there slowly but surely (hopefully), so long as I organize how I spend my time in the days correctly.
  14. Well I guess, technically the reason behind me developing an understanding of God and becoming a devotee is really God's mercy/will. However my fancy story is... A couple of years ago I ate some psycilocybin (mushroom) and my consciousness and thought became so elevated I couldn't help but percieve God's prescence everywhere. The experience was so strong I even thought I was some kind of special messenger haha. During the experience I was developing visuals of Shiva etc, but afterwards I just read the bhagavad gita and everything unfolded for me from there. So yeah, now it's no longer a question of belief for me. I don't believe in God. I know he exists. Just like I don't believe in my mother, I know she exists.
  15. Please transfer all of your money into my bank account and hand over your women if you have one Please try to comprehend seperate consciousness, it's crucial that you understand.
  16. He is a cheater. And a child molestor. Most importantly, he's not God... Wow what a jerk he must be to actually proclaim to people he's God.
  17. Thanks very much. Does Gaura Purnima just last for one day? Or does it end after sunday?
  18. Hare Krishna everyone, first I'd like to apologize if this is the wrong forum to be posting such a question. Today in New Zealand is Gaura Purnima. I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me how many days this lasts for and also what is the actual day of holi so i can notify my parents. Different sources are saying holi is on a different day. Thank you all
  19. Lol, vedesu's reply is awesome. But AncientMariner, accidents happen. You've just got to try and be careful. We're kill small living beings constantly. Try and think about just how many you kill walking down a path. Just chant Hare Krishna, it'll be ok. Once when I was at an ashram I was cleaning some vegetables - because they don't spray their vegges I need to make sure they're thoroughly cleaned. Anyhow, I thought I had killed a tiny bug so I had mentioned to the brahmacari because I was little sad. He had told me what I just told you. Accidents happen, you've just got to try and be careful. Don't worry. Just chant and be happy
  20. It's bizarre how the illuminati is featured in these titles.
  21. Wow that painting is magnificent! Do you know of any web pages where I can find quality Krishna pictures?

    Life

Very nice words. What a pleasent thing to read at the start of my day.
  23. Maybe you didn't understand the prescribed literature? These problems you have are answered very clearly in the books. Maybe you didn't understand? It is quite advanced reading. However, If you sincerely want resolution in regards to your predicament read the bhagavad-gita. Every single supposed problem you have is explained in the Bhagavad-Gita. Your understanding of karma is completely wrong. You say there is good karma and bad, but where is Krishna? You need to understand the very reasons we have karma in the first place. You propose that if someone wants to lose weight they should go to the gym rather than pray - forgetting entirely that not even a blade of grass moves without the sanction of Krishna. This is why I am questioning your understanding in the first place. It seems as if you have a very westernized/christian concept of whatGod actually is and how he works. You're trying to figure it out according to your own personal whims rather than absorb the knowledge from the authoritative sources. Or you just don't get it all togehter. In this case I wish you all the best in your next life. Without a clear understanding of how this science operates of course one would turn away from Krishna. There are so many things you've listed which are just plain wrong. I personally am baffled as to how one can claim that Krishna is not, or Krishna is like this without even understanding from proper sources in the first place. Suppose you're a computer engineer and that i'm a horticulturist and I come and tell you what is involved in your field, how to do your job etc which you've clearly studied/examined/followed. It's ridiculous - you'd be thinking this idiot claims to understand what I'm doing without any qualification or actual understanding. So my dear friend, in conclusion I am not sure exactly what the purpose of your rant is and why you have even bothered as all these people actually have a concise understanding of the philosophy. I can honestly find no merit in any of your words, but I sympathize in your respect because I too was in a similar position. Without doing the research and willing to learn I had just submit to the apparent easier path. Oh and of course I claimed the path to be the superior one, though it was just animal life. Anyhow, please have a little decency in this forum from now on before you attack Krishna please. Or at least cultivate the proper knowledge first. Why don't you try to disprove the existence of consciousness/soul before you try disproving Krishna. You atheists love to cut that step out. Do not forget; By the laws of material science God is not the only thing that doesn't exist... All the best redsox, I'm sorry if I came off too strong in this message. I'm merely trying to stress emphasis on the literature that explains your problems. If you'd fully read/understood it and then explained why you didn't like it that would be something else. Instead you're stating how it is based on personal whim.
  24. lolz I wish you all the best in future. I must add though, all those problems you have that are resulting in your being confused; there are explanations/answers in practically all of the prescribed literature as to why things are a certain way or taking place in a certain way. In particular your problem with not being able to percieve Krishna's form with your material senses... This has been explained countless times. But yeah, I can see your very fixed in your new found opinnion so I'll leave it. By the way I think red cross is actually a christian organization. Most of those charity/humanitarian things are organized by christians.
