  1. What's the big deal here! Brahmana is a job title! --that's all. Senator, Prime minister, King, wife, husband, student are all job titles. If you can do the work expertly then you may be a canidate for the available position --but the most ideal employment is bestowed to canidates by 'higher' authorities.
  2. Andy Ol'dude-ster, Yall is first rate! If you have eyes to see, Behold the hidden mercy distribution.
  3. Cooper: Wow! So David Koresh, Jim Jones, etc., is non-different from Krishna! The Hare Krishnas ROCK! ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: What did you mean? You're kidding Right? The Devas (demigods) are all Brahma's Children, grand-children, great-grand-children & great-great-great-grand-children etc. who populate & supervise to management of the cosmos' mechanics --"superintendants" replete with all the concominant fringe benefits of being God-like in influence and power among the celestial spheres of the upper-planetary systems, far above the north star (Dhruva-loka). :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Any one who pays "false-witness" aka purporting to present esoteric topics [ie: yoga; medicine; law; constuction practices; democratic governance; tourist directions; used car salesman's pitch] without actually knowing what they presume to say --is the ideal recepient for bad-karma of the type that will reap stupifingly absurd re-actions (bad karma).
  4. Don't listen to the other guy, he's obviously a mayavadi. "Whom were u refering and what did u mean from it Mr Kyros?" ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Ramakiran3, You are the Mayavadi. There are 3 checks to prove something as bonefide and true: For something to be true it must be affrimed by three sources: 1 Guru 2 Sadhus 3 Sastra VEDA Vyasa himself compiled the Veda literatures. So why do you protest. Choose your consumer product and then go to the check-out counter and pay your dues. You have used a Avatara-Icon that is babaji, the Guru of Paramahansa Yogananda Swami --who has explained Krishna's pre-eminence. The puranas were originally spoken at different epochs to different personalities who themselves were at different ages when the puranic events transpired --they are historic events in different personalities' life-times. The Ramayana was first spoken by Lord Brahma in 1 Billion Verses --but we don't have the whole story. The down fall is due to animal slaughter-factory as the common-denouminator of social unrest. "If one cant see Krshna in every thing-he cant see krishna at all." This is the teaching of a Vaisnava. This is also what the Mayavadi considers to be just a manifestation of time & circumstance that is meant to further teach a lesson --but Krishna was here on earth 5,000 years ago and has left the pre-western history records to boast of his (Krishna's) potency & pastimes that can be understood when the dark-ages pass. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: PS: A Mayavadi is a school of Vedic transcendentalist that summises that moksha/mukti/liberation/salvation/enlightenment/heaven/nirvana = an impersonal merging of one's own soul into the void and then remain in that state with out the possiblity of taking another re-birth in the cycle of samsara --This is not Veda Vyasa's same goal & purpose for recording the Bhagavata-Purana.

PETERSBURG, Russia (Feb. 4, 2009) - Two young men — one of them a butcher — have been arrested on suspicion of killing a 16-year-old girl and eating parts of her body, Russian prosecutors said Wednesday.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> The girl disappeared after leaving her home in St. Petersburg for school on Jan. 19, city prosecutor's spokesman Sergei Kapitonov said. He said she was killed that night, and that body parts believed to be hers were found in plastic bags scattered around the city.<o:p></o:p> Police arrested Yuri Mozhnov, a florist, and Maxim Golovatskikh, a street-market butcher and one-time psychiatric patient on Saturday, Kapitonov said.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> The suspects, both 19, knew the victim, and she accompanied them voluntarily to an apartment rented by another acquaintance on the day she went missing, Kapitonov said. Prosecutors believe they drowned the girl in a bathtub.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> "The arrestees said they ate the girl's body parts because they were hungry," Kapitonov said. They told investigators they baked some body parts with potatoes, he said.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> They allegedly disposed of her bagged remains in garbage containers and bodies of water. Bags with body parts were found in at least two locations, he said. 8. 15 ways that companies try to get you to buy, without you even realizing it. Don't Be Fooled Check out 15 ways that companies try to get you to buy, without you even realizing it -- and what you can do to avoid being manipulated. Emerging Marketing Tricks Can't get that jingle out of your head? Then all that R&D money is paying off! Companies are increasingly using "neuromarketing" to sell their products, which gets past the fact that people sometimes give the answer they "think" is right rather than saying how they truly feel. Scientists attach electrodes to subjects' brains to test their physiological responses to stimuli. It's a little like giving a focus group truth serum. Spearheading the groundbreaking research is Swedish globetrotter Martin Lindstrom, whose new book 'Buyology' describes his findings. He shared his knowledge of emerging marketing tricks with WalletPop. The Big Basket Theory Lindstrom says the first lesson companies have learned, particularly supermarkets, is that shoppers will get cautious about spending when their carts are full. How to get people to buy more? Just give them bigger shopping baskets. He says that Whole Foods has found people spending 30% more with a larger shopping cart. You'll also find that a lot of smaller stores, like drugstores, now offer wheeled carts rather than hand-carry baskets, in order to trick people into buying more. The antidote? Only buy what you can carry. Hungry Promotions It's no coincidence that people buy more before lunch and dinner when they are hungry -- and this is not just about food. "We buy more computers, more videos, more of everything, just before we are going to eat," he says. Now that companies understand more about this hunger trigger, which makes people 200% more sensitive to sound and smell stimuli Lindstrom says they will start timing promotions to the hours before meals in retail stores, on TV and radio and even on the Web. This type of campaign works much better than even celebrity endorsements, a high-price gimmick that advertisers have been relying on for ages. The antidote? Don't shop or watch TV right before a meal. Bring in the Band Using sound to sell products used to be about playing soothing background music in stores, but not so anymore. Retailers are learning that people respond strongly to sound stimuli, so they will be playing specific kinds of music to push products. Lindstrom conducted a test in a wine store. When the store played Italian music, people bought more Italian wine. When they played French music, people bought more French wine. "When you asked people why afterward, they had no memory of music playing, they just said, "oh, I felt like an Italian wine," he says. The antidote? If you don't want to be tricked, pay close attention to your surroundings. Gee, You Smell Terrific Smell stimuli is just as potent on shoppers, so in the future, retailers are going to go way beyond just potpourri. "The sense of smell is incredibly powerful, the sense really seduces us a lot," says Lindstrom, who has done many tests of smells being pumped into stores. In one hardware store, the smell of fresh cut grass made customers think the staff was more intelligent. In an appliance store, he pumped in the smell of an apple pie and the sales of ovens and fridges went up 23%. The antidote? Beware if you walk into a store and are hit with an odor. Show Me the Pasta Putting sound and smell together works even better, says Lindstrom, and that's why he says you'll see a lot more live food demonstrations, particularly in super markets. You can already see this at chains like Wegman's where chefs cook food like pasta out in the open. "The senses work much better together than apart," he says. "What we learned from our study is that 2 + 2 equals 9. If you see and hear certain things, you will taste the feeling if those messages have been sent in the right way." The antidote? Stick to the quiet canned food aisles and you may be able to avoid temptation. Virtual Taste Test We're still a long way from smell-o-vision, but Lindstrom says TV and the Web can get across taste pretty easily and marketers are becoming more sophisticated at the task. "If you hear the sizzle and water in the background, you can activate the sense of smell," he says. Advertisers are learning to create ads with these sounds, so look for more burbling Web ads in the future. The antidote? If you don't want to be enticed, keep your computer on mute. Ding, Dong, Time to Buy! Neuromarketing owes a deep debt to Pavlov, who showed how people can be conditioned to respond in a certain way to a stimulus. The gold standard these days is to have some distinctive "bell sound" that makes customers jump up and hand over their money. We will be subjected to repeated sounds as they try to create one of these iconic sounds. Lindstrom did a study in his home country of ffice:smarttags" />Sweden on the sound that the most popular ice cream truck makes. When people heard the sound on TV, they grabbed their money and ran out in the street to buy from the truck. The antidote? Don't keep cash available for impulse purchases. A Non-Generic Response As more consumers turn to store brands in this tough economy, marketers are having a tough time creating brand loyalty and positive brand associations. People are just more interested in price. Some companies will resort to cutting prices, but Lindstrom cautions clients against this. "You are discounting your brand image," he warns. "Companies will start to use other tricks," he says, "Like combining with other brands, like buy a Coke product and you get a free snack product." That way, you get a reward for buying the brand name. The antidote? To make sure you're getting a good deal, compare the prices of all the items you are buying, and make sure you actually want the bonus item. Luxury Mini-Me's Luxury retailers are suffering deeply in this bad economy, as even high-earners are cutting back. Stores like Saks and Bloomingdale's are offering deep discounts for the first time, up to 70% off in some departments. One way that these brands will recover, says Lindstrom, is to create products with a lower price point. Affordable luxury is still luxury, though, so the way to cut the cost of items is to make them smaller. Can't afford a Coach bag? Maybe buy a change purse. "They will also be creating bags with more practical purposes so that now people can justify the purchase," he says. The antidote? If you can't afford it, then don't buy it. The Envelope, Please! In Lindstom's book, 'Buyology,' there's a whole chapter explaining why sex doesn't sell. But scandal does. Abercrombie & Fitch, which had its catalog banned in 2003, is one of his key examples. "We are going to see a lot of provocative stuff, they will need to provoke so much that they will create headlines," he says, and other stores will follow suit in trying to create a media buzz and push the envelope. "This is the same way Benetton is surviving," he adds, "And this is Madonna's strategy as well." The antidote? Pay attention to circulars rather than headlines to make your shopping decisions. Gaming the System "TV is a dying medium," says Lindstrom. Even product placement in movies is not working. The hot place to advertise now is in video games. The reason it works better is that the brands are placed in context and players are able to interact with them, rather than the passive display in the midst of a ton of other stuff on TV or movies. "I was playing Second Life one night," Lindstrom says, "And it was 6pm and suddenly I arrived at a Pizza Hut. I clicked on six different pizzas, ordered one, typed in my credit card, and soon after there was a knock on my real door. The antidote? Keep your credit card in your wallet while you play. Friend Finder The combo of mobile phones and GPS is another new frontier that marketers will be exploring. Lindstom says that he was in <st1:country-region w:st="<st1:place" on=""><st1:place w:st="on">Tokyo</st1:place></st1:country-region> recently as part of an experiment. The application on his phone found one of his friends nearby and rang him up. The message said, "Your friend is nearby and Starbucks would like to sponsor your meeting." A map appeared and 90 seconds later he was in the cafe, his friend was waiting for him and they both got free cups of coffee. "This is very different, it integrates itself and makes sure the brand is the hero of the story," he says. The antidote? Never sign up for any marketing product that can track where you are in real time. Smash It Up Every year, companies spend millions to re-do their logos or change the design of their packaging. Lindstrom says this practice should come to an end if companies are smart. "It's a waste of money," he says. "Brands are about much more than just a logo." The lesson that companies are starting to learn is that they need to create "smashable" products – those that you would know what it is if it were smashed into pieces. "The best example of this an iPod, you can't find a logo on it, and yet you know it's an iPod," he says. The antidote? Pay attention to your surroundings -- even cartoons can be devious, like 'Wall-E' being one long ad for Apple. Do It for Me One of the sneakiest marketing tricks is having customers do their advertising, product development and other outreach for them. Lindstrom says this will go far beyond the gimmicks that companies use now of fans creating their own jingles or commercials or even creating fan blogs to get out the word. He gives the example of a cosmetic chain in <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Japan</st1:place></st1:country-region> that has an online store where users are vigorous about posting reviews. The real-life store stocks only a few items at a time on shelves, and these are rotated based on what's popular on the site. The antidote? Give the most weight to your own opinions, rather than anonymous users out there, who may or may not be on the payroll of the companies. Life Is a Small Box of Chocolates Americans may love their Big Box stores and buying in bulk, but Lindstrom says a sea change is coming where the marketing trick will be to offer fewer choices instead of more. People's brains respond better to fewer choices. He did a test where he was giving women a box of chocolate with 20 options. They would pick one. When the box offered just six items, they picked three. "We buy more the fewer options we have," he says. "Somebody has to choose. We look and aspire, and so you will see stores offering fewer products and changing them out more often." The antidote? Order what you want online or make a list before going into a physical store so you buy what you want.<o:p></o:p>

  10. Acid - Alkaline Balance for Optimal Health<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:" /><o:p></o:p> There are a lot of books out these days that recommend making your diet more alkaline to improve your health. While I do think acid-alkaline balance is important in a person's diet, I always find these books a bit odd, because many of my past health problems stemmed from being too alkaline. <o:p></o:p> I started testing my urine pH years ago before it was "trendy" to do so. In my case my urine pH was out of the normal range on the alkaline side of the scale. Other family members had the same problem. When I switched my family to a more acidic diet, our bladder infections cleared up and both of my children's adult teeth started coming in all of a sudden. I suspect that previously my children had been suffering from delayed dentition because their bodies didn't have the right nutrients, or perhaps their bodies were not able to absorb the right nutrients to form their adult teeth, due to a lack of stomach acid. I noticed many of their allergies and chronic sinus and ear infections also cleared up as their diets became more acidic.<o:p></o:p> ————————————————————————————————-<o:p></o:p> Researchers from Japan found that ovariectomized rats fed a low-calcium diet had better calcium absorption when the rats were fed on a diet containing 1.6% vinegar (a very acidic substance) for 32 days than when fed on a diet without vinegar.<o:p></o:p> ————————————————————————————————-<o:p></o:p> So for the last ten years or so I've been a firm believer in the value of acid - alkaline balance in the diet through first morning urine testing. I know a lot of traditional Western doctors feel this isn't helpful, but these are the same doctors who were putting my kids on endless cycles of antibiotics for years that did more harm than good. So I do feel in situations like this it is better to trust my own judgment than to blindly follow authority figures' advice, especially when that advice has harmed myself and my children in the past with unnecessary drugs with nasty side effects. Urine testing is inexpensive, easy to do, and seems to help with health issues based on my personal observations. I can't think of any downside to having my urine pH in the normal range. Listed below are the correlations I've noticed between health issues and out of range urine pH with myself and other family members. When the urine is too acidic, my family seems to also have many many of the following conditions: High blood pressure Headaches Acid reflux (heartburn) Acid indigestion Hot flashes Night sweats Heat rashes Motion sickness - (I think movement sloshes the excess acid around in the stomach making people more easily nauseous) Muscle pains Insomnia Cold feet and hands In Ayurvedic (traditional Indian) medicine, an overly acid condition is associated with a pitta dosha. After taking my son to endless traditional and holistic Western doctors, we found the answers to my son's sweaty head at night and stomach aches on the Internet in Ayurvedic web sites. He fit the pitta dosha descriptions perfectly, and the recommended diets to balance a pitta dosha put him on the road to recovery. (The traditional yoga diet, which emphasizes a diet high in fresh fruit and vegetables, tends to be an alkaline diet.) When the urine is too alkaline, I've noticed the following conditions seems to develop: Bladder infections Allergies get worse More colds and sinusitis Diarrhea / upset stomachs Athlete's foot fungus Night sweats Itchy skin Mold allergies Muscle pains Headaches Please note most of the above lists are not taken from any books or studies - they are just my personal observations of what happens to my family when their urine pH gets out of normal range in either direction. I think when we don't have enough acid it makes it easier for bacteria and fungus to thrive, hence the onset of bacterial and fungal related conditions. So I certainly don't agree with most of the popular books out today that everyone need to be more alkaline. There is a condition called alkalosis that can occur when body fluids become overly alkaline. Medical symptoms of alkalosis include muscle twitching, spasms, lightheadedness, confusion and tremors. However, being too acidic seems to have it's own issues, including a condition called acidosis. Among other symptoms, metabolic acidosis can lead to a loss of calcium. In a 2006 study, researchers in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com<st1:country-region w:st=" /><st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Sweden</st1:place></st1:country-region> found that an acid load in the human body can also cause a loss of renal magnesium . This could contribute to a deficiency of Mg which can lead to conditions conditions such as migraines, osteopenia, osteoporosis, and mitral valve prolapse. Many holistic doctors recommend saliva or urine testing to determine your pH levels, but I've personally never found any correlation between health issues and saliva pH. Urine pH is the one measurement I've found most helpful.
  11. Acid Reflux Diet<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:" /><o:p></o:p> Many people take over-the-counter antacids for a quick ease of acid reflux, but for most people, a proper diet is the best solution for overcoming acid reflux.<o:p></o:p> Acid Reflux Diet Myth<o:p></o:p> Myth 1: Drink milk A lot of people try drinking milk to ease acid reflux before sleep. But often, milk ends up causing acid reflux during sleep. To understand the whole situation, we have to realize that the problem roots from eating too much at dinner time. Eating a big meal at dinner causes excess stomach acid production. Drinking milk could be a quick fix to the acid reflux problem. Unfortunately, milk has a rebound action and would eventually encourage secretion of more stomach acid, which causes the acid reflux. To solve the problem, try adjusting your diet by eating a small meal at dinner and have a small snack such as crackers before sleep.<o:p></o:p> Myth 2: Avoid coffee, citrus fruits and Spicy food We have been told for years that coffee, acidic fruit as well as spicy foods can aggravate acid reflux. Therefore, we should avoid these in our daily diet in order to reduce acid reflux. A recent study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine in May 2006 showed that none of these myths hold true. Researchers from the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comStanford University </ST1:P</st1:place>found that the only two behavioral changes can reduce symptoms of acid reflux - eating less and elevate your head while sleeping.<o:p></o:p> Acid Reflux Diet<o:p></o:p> First of all, try to eat small, frequent meals instead of three big meals a day. Small amounts of food each time would exert less workload on the stomach and therefore requires less acid secretion for digestion. Make sure to include foods that are high in complex carbohydrates in each meal. These foods, such as rice, breads and pasta, are able to tie up excess stomach acid and are often easy on the stomach. <o:p></o:p> Avoid high-fat meals such as those from the fast food chains. High fat foods will remain in the stomach longer, thus causing the need for more stomach acid in order to digest them. <o:p></o:p> But remember, don't overeat! Eating too much of any foods will stimulate the stomach to secret more acids for digestion. <o:p></o:p> Avoid or limit alcohol. <o:p></o:p> Maintain upright position during and at least 45 minutes after eating. <o:p></o:p> Try elevating the head of bed six to eight inches when lying down. <o:p></o:p> Don't think that beverages just quickly flow through your stomach without affecting acid production. Surprisingly, a lot of beverages stimulate acid secretion such as beer, wine and pop. The worst of all is beer. It could double your stomach acid within an hour.<o:p></o:p>
  12. Balancing Your Body by Understanding Alkaline and Acid Forming Foods Foods are generally categorized as acid or alkaline based on the residue they leave in the human body after they have been metabolized. Often there are fad diets that recommend people eat either all acid or all alkaline foods to solve one disease or another. In reality, it is probably healthier to strive for a balanced middle ground of alkaline and acidic foods. A variety of health problems can occur when the body is either too alkaline or acidic. When the body fluids become too acidic, a condition called acidosis develops. Conversely, when the body fluids become too alkaline, alkalosis results. Foods are determined to have either an alkaline or acid forming potential based on their pH values. (The word pH comes from the chemistry formula for calculating the concentration of hydrogen ions present in a substance. pH refers to the "power of Hydrogen.") A pH of 7 is neutral. Foods with an alkaline ash have pH values above 7. Foods with an acid ash have pH values below 7. Pure water has a neutral pH of 7. In general most grains, dairy products, meats, seeds, legumes and nuts tend to have an acid ash. Most fruits and vegetables tend to have an alkaline ash. Cooked foods tend to be more alkaline than raw foods. Many holistic practitioners believe that modern Western diets generally are too acidic for good health due to a lack of fruits and vegetables. They often stress the importance of modifying one's diet to achieve a better acid-base balance. However, it is generally not a good idea to assume your diet is too acidic just because that is a common problem in the general population. There are many factors that can influence the human body's pH levels. People who drink a lot of mineral water, take mineral supplements or eat highly a lot of alkaline foods such as dandelion greens or potatoes, may have an alkaline levels that are too high. Many holistic health practitioners recommended that people buy a special type of pH paper that can be used to test pH levels based on urine or saliva samples. Foods such as orange juice and lemon juice are acidic in their natural state but turn alkaline after they have been metabolized in the body. As such, for dietetic purposes they are usually considered to be alkaline forming foods despite being acidic prior to consumption. Most fruits are alkaline except a few that include cranberries, plums and prunes. These fruits are classified as acidic because they contain acids the body can't metabolize.
  13. Health Suffering from Acidic Diet?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:" /><o:p></o:p> An Over-Acidic Body May Prompt Weight Gain, Fatigue and Osteoporosis<o:p></o:p> When acidity and alkalinity are not properly balanced in the body, the breakdown may cause a myriad of chronic health problems that can be remedied with proper diet.<o:p></o:p> Fat is an acidity problem in the body’s cells, tissues and organs. So are fatigue, allergies, arthritis, osteoporosis and countless other common chronic diseases and maladies.<o:p></o:p> So says a growing legion of physicians and researchers, including New Biology author Dr. Robert O. Young, who writes in The Alkalarian Approach to Optimal Health that people suffer allergies, gain weight and lack energy because of overly acidic diets.<o:p></o:p> “Our bodies were designed to be healthy, slender and energic," he says. "Over-acidification interferes with life itself, leading to sickness and disease."<o:p></o:p> Take Obesity<o:p></o:p> Dr. Young believes the toxins produced from an overly acidic, oxygen-deprived body may contribute significantly to the growing problem of Americans being overweight.<o:p></o:p> He says the body creates fat cells to carry acids away from vital organs as a way to prevent these acids from literally "choking organs to death." Left unchecked, toxic acids with high pH levels corrode body tissue, leading to various ailments.<o:p></o:p> “Fat is saving your life,” he writes. “Fat is actually a response from the body to an alarming over acidic condition.”<o:p></o:p> Fatigue <o:p></o:p> Fatigue is probably the most major symptom or complaint of an overly acidic body. Toxins produced from the acidic environment reduce the body's ability to absorb minerals and proteins.<o:p></o:p> In turn, the production of enzymes and hormones is weakened. The result is fatigue, poor endurance, an inability to add muscle tone, and general weakness, Dr. Young says.<o:p></o:p> Osteoporosis<o:p></o:p> Don Colbert, M.D. bestselling author of Living Divine Health (Siloam, 2006), agrees that an overly acidic body environment can contribute to all sorts of health problems, including everything from arthritis and cancer to osteoporosis, which is one of the most significant health problems in America today.<o:p></o:p> Because of an overly acidic diet, he says, “Approximately one out of every four females and one out of every eight males over fifty suffer from osteoporosis."<o:p></o:p> Foods that help preserve the amount of calcium in our bones are alkaline foods. They include most fruits and vegetables, millet, almonds, apple cider vinegar, garlic, lentils and soured dairy products such as low fat yogurt.<o:p></o:p> “Your diet should probably consist of 50 percent alkaline-forming foods or higher and 50 percent acid-forming foods or lower. If your diet includes a lot of acidic foods, begin now to make changes that will protect your body from bone loss and disease," Dr. Colbert says.<o:p></o:p> What Causes Acidity?<o:p></o:p> Dr. Stuart Zoll, D.O.M., A.P., who runs the Center for Preventative Medicine in Boca Raton, Florida, writes in How to Optimize Your Health (distributed 2007) that a diet high in acid foods such as red meat, pork, processed meats, corn and peanuts, bagels, pastries, rolls, sugar, chocolate, candy, deserts, fried foods, carbonated soft drinks and dairy products causes acid wastes to build up in the body.<o:p></o:p> How does a person know if they're overly acidic? Tissue acidity can be determined by measuring the pH of the blood, saliva and urine, he says.<o:p></o:p> He recommends the best ways to treat acidity in the body include herbal and homeopathic drainage formulas to stimulate the liver, kidneys and lymph systems. Also he tells his patients to increase water intake, increase vegetable intake, increase exercise, try digestive enzymes when indicated, and "have more fun and pleasure in your life."<o:p></o:p> Ideal foods for a balanced acid/alkaline body are brown rice, oatmeal, all fresh vegetables, lemons, chicken and turkey, soy products, most fish (especially those high in omega 3 fatty acids such as salmon, trout, sardines and herring), olive oil, avocados, flax see oil, salads, seeds and most nuts.<o:p></o:p>
  14. Naturally improving your pH balance<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:" /><o:p></o:p> The most important aspect of this is to understand that you must make the proper nutrients, vitamins and minerals available to your body when it needs them. At Women to Women, we call this optimal nutrition, and in this day and age you need to work a little to get it. Here are some ideas on how to balance your diet and support healthy digestive pH levels.<o:p></o:p> Take a high-quality daily multivitamin like the one we offer through our Personal Program. This will offset any nutritional gaps and insure that your body has the reserves it needs. The right supplement should contain essential vitamins and minerals, including calcium and magnesium. In addition, I recommend an essential fatty acid supplement, and a good quality probiotic can help the body absorb the minerals that are all-important to your bones. <o:p></o:p> Fill your plate with fresh vegetables, particularly the dark green leafy kind. Add fresh lemon or lime to foods and beverages as a flavor accent. Enjoy plenty of fruit between meals. Again, foods which are fresh, organic, and deeply pigmented or brightly colored are the kinds that benefit you the most! <o:p></o:p> Consider boosting your diet with “green foods” or “green drinks,” which contain the pigment chlorophyll in abundance. The plant world’s equivalent of the hemoglobin in our blood, we can thank chlorophyll for generating all our food (except perhaps fungi!). It works in the body as a strong detoxifier and immunity–building agent. Foods that contain high levels of chlorophyll include the algae Spirulina and Chlorella and the juice of wheat grass and other sprouted grains. These foods offer high levels of other micronutrients as well, and their neat packaging can be especially helpful for those who lack time to prepare whole balanced meals or people recovering from illness. <o:p></o:p> Watch your red meat intake, and keep your servings of the acidifying proteins down to 4 oz per meal (the size of a deck of cards). <o:p></o:p> Avoid refined carbohydrates whenever you can, including sugar, and emphasize the “whole” in whole grains. Eliminate all processed foods, particularly those that contain partially hydrogenated oils (trans fats). <o:p></o:p> Clear the digestive slate with a gentle detox plan, like our Quick Cleanse, to get a better reading on how your diet — and pH — are affecting your sense of well-being. You may be surprised at how well you feel! <o:p></o:p> If you suffer from IBS, acid reflux, or regular heartburn, consider testing your pH. Remember that you may have too little acid in your stomach, not too much. Don’t just assume that an acid stomach means you’re too acidic. <o:p></o:p> Chew your food slowly and thoroughly. Enjoy every bite! <o:p></o:p> The beauty of balance<o:p></o:p> The subject of body pH may be having its 15 minutes of fame — and if it helps you to tune in to what’s going on in your body and eat a healthier diet, I’m all for that. Indeed, there are some people who are extremely sensitive to fluctuating pH levels and need to take serious action — but you won’t know until you find a good healthcare practitioner to guide you. And even then, pH is only one piece of the puzzle. To my mind, pH is a helpful indicator of overall balance in the body. But it’s just the tip of the iceberg, and no amount of trendy drinks or diet plans will make it more than that.<o:p></o:p> That being said, paying attention to your pH is one place you can begin to make a positive change. If it feels like a good place for you to start taking better care of yourself, I encourage you to do so. From there, it’s my hope that you will continue to listen to your body and help it find balance on all fronts, including your hormones, your emotions, and your lifestyle.<o:p></o:p>
  15. Theist: ' religion without philosophy is just sentiment and philosophy without religion is mental speculation.' What does 'religion' mean in this context? :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: 'religion' in this context means: Taking ones own meager labor as all-in-all ... without higher knowledge of purpose & intention. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: bija: . . . It's done" or, "I'm a genuine first-rate guru extrardinaire, par-excellance" ---this is so glorious. See Prabhupada as he stays somber and dignified just when He should be effervescent with jubilation & revelry. These moments of SP own personal 'a sense of great accomplishment' is hidden in his face & deportment. --remember that Video tapings were rare just as his appearence at any venue was, especially an Iskcon temple its self, since SP traveled so much in the formulative years of Iskcon's youthful years.
  16. Theist [Post #7]: "... past karma is greatly dimished when they (followers) surrender to the guru. Jesus employed the same principle on a world wide scale, one that streches over 2,000 years. You are very right that the Christians have wrongly emphasized Christ dying for their sins while ignoring what He told His disciples as He was going to be crucified, "Pick up your cross and follow Me". The ones that do that are the real Christians and their sins were forgiven and incur no new ones by following Christ's teachings. They are maybe 10% of those that claim to be Christians. I offer them all respects." :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: I agree. Therein lies hidden the contemplative mellows which we secretly yearn for -- "Pick up your cross and follow Me" -- out of hapless exasperation"? No. Of Christian follows [other than secular layman of the congregation] I have long been of the opinion that true followers of Christ were priests/monks/clergy who submitted all thier endeavors in "devotional service". There is a rasa [mellow] that has been lost to fringe members of Iskcon and/or anyone who lived a contemplative life for any length nof time and now . . . lives outside the temple walls, for whatever reasons. We all idealise the quiet life --even if we only have glimpse just bits of such a idealic way of life, within the regimen of a religious order --we pine for the time and place we were once in and/or we be again one day. Can you believe it? Souls born with the fortune to know tapasya & penance & still miss out on the chance to gain 'tranquility' in ideal setting(s) living a life of high-thinking & simple-living. 17. BTW, Theist is correct in his presentation --it is not a new nor original concept. All cosmic affairs are preformed by plenary portions of the whole. Theist is fully read on these topics** and it should be a challenge for any one to speak contrary to him without doing their home work. Remember most of us are awake only 16 hours per day and most of that is pre-occupied with just a short burst of concentrated effort per day--it takes years of study in any field to get it all sorted out. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: The tendency to offer advise when one is actually not thoroughly informed is commonplace --yet such a tendency is dishonest and is an act of propagating data that is 'for all intents and purposes' not verified to the best of ones judgement --such acts accrues undesirable karmic re-action [it is similar to paying 'false witness']. The best way for chaos to flourish is for good men to invent any old thing in lieu of authentic scholarship. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: The only thing to avoid is digressions of any sort--"keep on task" while discussing/requesting investigative scholarship work. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: doshas? 18. RE: bhaktajan said, "Jesus was not vaisnava --but he was sent by Visnu" theist Posted: Vaisnava means servant of Vishnu. So to say Jesus was sent by Vishnu to do service --for Him and yet that person is not a Vaisnava makes no sense. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Keep calm already why don't you!! It's a play on words that is meant to be self-correcting [not self-denying]. Avatara's do Vishnu's work by spreading the 'dharma'. Avatara are not famous for appearing to message Vishnu's feet. They are known as leading ground forces into the heat of conquering samsara. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: BTW, maybe you haven't had a spoon full of spirolina today, yet. 19. Well Jesus, is indeed, considered an AVATARA who came to teach lessons that where invaribly apropos to the epoch of his appearance. The personalist/theist school of Hindu religious traditions define God as an Absolute entity endowed with the energetic source of all of the varigated creation and cosmos en toto and unlimitedly --yet still being an Absolute entity unto himself as transcendaent to his own self-born emanating variety of material & spiritual names, places and things throughout the cosmos including the very 'space' inwhich the cosmos inhabit. IOW, God maintains his own 'personage' as the prototype [and also, his personage' is the "goal/mystery of life"] of all other forms of conscious living entities/beings. The lessons of life lead one toward a beloved 'personage' until one learns the etiquette that qualifies oneself to be admitted entrance to his audience. Birth after birth --lessons after lessons --until the notion that there is a 'Supreme Personality" known as the God head. To know such a personality [ie: ones own 'father'] one must approach the mother and thus be told directly who ones own father is. Any other circumstance is proof of past misconduct that accrues the dis-advantage of having to seach out the 'truth' on one's own re-cognisance.

  22. "If you really love her you will let her go because you would truly want her to be happy. Otherwise, your love isn't love at all." ................................................................................................ SURVEY SAYS: Bhagavad-gita: "One who restrains his senses, keeping them under full control, and fixes his consciousness upon Me, is known as a man of steady intelligence." "While contemplating the objects of the senses, a person develops attachment for them, and from such attachment lust develops, and from lust anger arises." "If you really love her you will let her go because you would truly want her to be happy. Otherwise, your love isn't love at all. But a selfish type of possesive obsession." "From anger, complete delusion arises, and from delusion bewilderment of memory. When memory is bewildered, intelligence is lost, and when intelligence is lost one falls down again into the material pool." "There are three gates leading to this hell—lust, anger and greed. Every sane man should give these up, for they lead to the degradation of the soul." "One tries to satisfy his lust, and when he cannot, anger and greed arise." "The man who has escaped these three gates of hell, O son of Kunti, performs acts conducive to self-realization and thus gradually attains the supreme destination." "Their acts are against the scriptural injunctions and are not beneficial for the people in general. Actually, they act out of pride, false ego, lust and attachment for material enjoyment." "When lust is unsatisfied, it turns into wrath; wrath is transformed into illusion, and illusion continues the material existence. Therefore, lust is the greatest enemy of the living entity, and it is lust only which induces the pure living entity to remain entangled in the material world. Wrath is the manifestation of the mode of ignorance; these modes exhibit themselves as wrath and other corollaries." "If, therefore, the mode of passion, instead of being degraded into the mode of ignorance, is elevated to the mode of goodness by the prescribed method of living and acting, then one can be saved from the degradation of wrath by spiritual attachment." . . . But a person free from all attachment and aversion and able to control his senses through regulative principles of freedom can obtain the complete mercy . . . ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: allow providence to clue you in to being prepared when duty falls in your lap, bhaktajan

SB 12.6.50:<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:" /><o:p></o:p> "Çréla Vyäsadeva separated the mantras of the Åg, Atharva, Yajur and Säma Vedas into four divisions, just as one sorts out a mixed collection of jewels into piles. Thus he composed four distinct Vedic literatures."<o:p></o:p> PURPORT <o:p></o:p> When Lord Brahmä first spoke the four Vedas with his four mouths, the mantras were mixed together like an unsorted collection of various types of jewels. Çréla Vyäsadeva sorted the Vedic mantras into four divisions (saàhitäs), which thus became the recognizable Åg, Atharva, Yajur and Säma Vedas.<o:p></o:p>
  24. Vyasadeva personally wrote the Vedanta-sutra under the instructions of Närada, his Guru Maharaja (spiritual master), but still he was not satisfied. That is a long story, . . . The great sage Vyasadeva saw anomalies in the duties of the millennium. This happens on the earth in different ages, due to unseen forces in the course of time. The great sage, who was fully equipped in knowledge, could see, through his transcendental vision, the deterioration of everything material, due to the influence of the age. He could also see that the faithless people in general would be reduced in duration of life and would be impatient due to lack of goodness. Thus he contemplated for the welfare of men in all statuses and orders of life. He saw that the sacrifices mentioned in the Vedas were means by which the people’s occupations could be purified. And to simplify the process he divided the one Veda into four, in order to expand them among men. Formerly there was only the Veda of the name Yajur, and the four divisions of sacrifices were there specifically mentioned. But to make them more easily performable, the Veda was divided into four divisions of sacrifice, just to purify the occupational service of the four orders. Above the four Vedas, namely Rg, Yajur, Sama, and Atharva, there are the Puranas, the Mahabharata, Samhitas, etc., which are known as the fifth Veda. Sri Vyasadeva and his many disciples were all historical personalities, and they were very kind and sympathetic toward the fallen souls of this age of Kali. As such, the Puranas and Mahabharata were made from related historical facts which explained the teaching of the four Vedas. There is no point in doubting the authority of the Puranas and Mahabharata as parts and parcels of the Vedas. In the Chandogya Upanishad (7.1.4), the Puranas and Mahabharata, generally known as histories, are mentioned as the fifth Veda. SB 8.24.54: Sukadeva Gosvami: When Satyavrata had thus prayed to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who had assumed the form of a fish [matsya-rupa avatara; which occurred just before the 7th {Vaivasvata aka Satyavrata ~SB 2.7.12} of 14 Manus lifetime --we are presently in the 7th Manu's lifespan], the Lord, while moving in the water of inundation, explained to him the Absolute Truth. The Supreme Personality of Godhead thus explained to King Satyavrata the spiritual science known as sankhya-yoga, the science by which one distinguishes between matter and spirit [in other words, bhakti-yoga], along with the instructions contained in the Puranas [the old histories] and the saàhitäs. The Lord explained Himself in all these literatures. From the heart of the topmost demigod, Brahma, came the subtle transcendental vibration, and from this subtle sound vibration arose the syllable om, greatly potent and self-luminous. Using this omkara, Lord Brahma created the original Vedas and taught them to his sons, Maréci and others, who were all saintly leaders of the brahmana community. This body of Vedic knowledge was handed down through the disciplic succession of spiritual masters until the end of Dvapara-yuga, when Lord Vyasadeva divided it into four parts and instructed various schools of sages in these four samhitas.
  25. "ISKCON" —the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, has many facets to it purpose for existing. In my opinion the real primary reason for the existence of ISKCON is to spread the fame of "who is this Krishna ". Krishna Consciousness is all about the Supreme Personality of God, Krishna . It is not: International Society for "ISKCON" Consciousness. But only adherents of ISKCON's ashrams are trained to be able to spread the news of "who is this Krishna ". Historically the pattern is thus: The life force is an 'active' entity—thus the different creatures each possess 'life-force' , thus they are all animated and conscious. We and all other living beings enjoy via: eating, sleeping, mating and defending—this is the status quo of 'life'. All forms of life pursue these 4 categorical goals, day after day, life after life indefinitely since the beginning of time. The world based on the laws of duality, so invariably there are opposing forces imposed against us. Therefore birth, death old age and disease are gross manifestations of these laws of duality. So, all living entities are enjoying but they also are suffering—it really occurs but it is also just a temporary passing event in the passage of time. As we pursue absolute and consistent happiness we are always paying our karmic bills with more and more hardwork—this is the 'status quo' due to the laws of duality manifest as a type of 'Murphy's Law'. The ironic outcome of our actions in this material world form a vicious circle—it always seems inescapable—except for spiritual aspirants. Muslim Koran: assisted those to rise above nomadic existentialism. Judeo-Christian Bible: teaches duties for gradual attainment of happiness—-and when Jesus rose from the dead it taught that we are not the body but spirit soul. Buddhist sutras: Hindu born reformation with lessons in discarding ones own ego and thus repeated births. Indian Vedas: pre-western history replete with all the traditional yoga systems practiced by the maharajas and sages of antiquity. Modern history records nations engaged in the culture of enjoyment followed by war followed by enjoyment followed by war ad-infinitum. So, those who seek after a higher purpose [or escape from the mundane] surrender unto God. In the above mentioned scriptures God is represented as an Impersonal-Void, as a mysterious spirit, an old man, and finally as Krishna , an eternal youth. But nobody cares for such pursuits. Most eras are full of people seeking pleasures at all costs right up to the moment of death. This ethos is due to being uneducated [from an early age] in the rules of yoga. This is where Iskcon comes into the picture. The members of the Krishna Temples around the world are learning [albeit, by instructors comprised by every and all people living at any particular time at any particular temple rather than an "official teacher of novices"] all of the ultra orthodox authentic, bonefide traditional ancient Yoga practices as they were originally were practiced in ancient times. 'Nirvana' is not an eternal state of being, it is temporary and requires very unattractive austerities all in pursuit of the 'void'. The glaring light of the 'brahmajyoti' is also not an eternal destination and refuge for the spirit soul—this is what is sought after by the 'impersonal' school of thought of Hindu spiritualists, famously written in the metaphysics of the 'sunyavadi' or 'mayavadi' philosophies. If the guru cannot describe Godhead, in detail, then the guru is an impersonalist for who god has no form and thus the guru is classified as an atheist. Unfortunately, good deeds are good only in so far as they keep one in good graces, yet still in the line of karmic fire. Here's a very-very esoteric verse from the Vedas: SB 7.6.4: Endeavors merely for sense gratification or material happiness through economic development are not to be performed, for they result only in a loss of time and energy, with no actual profit. If one’s endeavors are directed toward Krishna consciousness [bhakti-yoga], one can surely attain the spiritual platform of self-realization [krsna-prema]. There is no such benefit from engaging oneself in economic development. SB 7.7.23: There are two kinds of bodies for every individual soul—a gross body made of five gross elements and a subtle body made of three subtle elements. Within these bodies, however, is the spirit soul. One must find the soul by analysis, saying, “This is not it. This is not it.” Thus one must separate spirit from matter. PURPORT As previously stated, svarnam yatha gravasu hema-karah ksetresu yogais tad-abhijna apnuyat. An expert in the study of soil can find out where gold is and then dig there. He can then analyze the stone and test the gold with nitric acid. Similarly, one must analyze the whole body to find within the body the spirit soul. In studying one’s own body, one must ask himself whether his head is his soul, his fingers are his soul, his hand is his soul, and so on. In this way, one must gradually reject all the material elements and the combinations of material elements in the body. Then, if one is expert and follows the acarya, he can understand that he is the spiritual soul living within the body. The greatest acarya, Krishna , begins His teachings in Bhagavad-gita by saying: dehino ’smin yatha dehe kaumaram yauvanam jara tatha dehantara-praptir dhiras tatra na muhyati “As the embodied soul continually passes, in this body, from boyhood to youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death. The self-realized soul is not bewildered by such a change.” (Bg. 2.13) The spirit soul possesses the body and is within the body. This is the real analysis. The soul never mixes with the bodily elements. Although the soul is within the body, it is separate and always pure. One must analyze and understand his self. This is self-realization. Neti neti is the analytical process of rejecting matter. By expertly conducting such an analysis, one can understand where the soul is. One who is not expert, however, cannot distinguish gold from earth, nor the soul from the body. SB 7.7.51-52: You cannot please the Supreme Personality of Godhead by becoming perfect brahmanas, demigods or great saints or by becoming perfectly good in etiquette or vast learning. None of these qualifications can awaken the pleasure of the Lord. Nor by charity, austerity, sacrifice, cleanliness or vows can one satisfy the Lord. The Lord is pleased only if one has unflinching, unalloyed devotion to Him. Without sincere devotional service, everything is simply a show. PURPORT: Prahlada Maharaja concludes that one can become perfect by serving the Supreme Lord sincerely by all means. Material elevation to life as a brahmana, demigod, rsi and so on are not causes for developing love of Godhead, but if one sincerely engages in the service of the Lord, his Krsna consciousness is complete. This is confirmed in Bhagavad-gita (9.30): api cet su-duracaro bhajate mam ananya-bhak sadhur eva sa mantavyah samyag vyavasito hi sah “Even if one commits the most abominable actions, if he is engaged in devotional service he is to be considered saintly because he is properly situated.” To develop unalloyed love for Krsna is the perfection of life. Other processes may be helpful, but if one does not develop his love for Krsna, these other processes are simply a waste of time. dharmah svanusthitah pumsam visvaksena-kathasu yah notpadayed yadi ratim srama eva hi kevalam “Duties [dharma] executed by men, regardless of occupation, are only so much useless labor if they do not provoke attraction for the message of the Supreme Lord.” (Bhag. 1.2.8) The test of perfection is one’s unalloyed devotion to the Lord. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:" /><o:p></o:p> Iskcon represents the theistic school of The Hindu Vedas.
