  1. Hi Shvu: ----------------- Personally I see nothing wrong with being non-vegetarian, except for cholesterol and cancer. ----------------- In your opinion is killing of an animal same as chopping a carrot? And slaughter houses as same as chopping vegetable places? ------------------- Confucius says if you touch water, your hand will get wet. ------------------- Dirtier the water, filthier the hand [This message has been edited by ggohil (edited 05-19-2001).]
  2. I am not an expert on Christianity, my postings is based on what I have learned from talking to people of Christian faith. Taking up Christianity would mean adopting following ideas. 1. Fear of God and Satan. 2. Submit out of fear of Satan. 3. Animals have no souls. 4.Only Christians will be saved. This also could mean too bad for people who have no access to Christianity. 5. Offer no explanation why, as to some are born with silver spoon and some are born just to starve and die. 6. You only have this life time to learn to love Jesus so you could to be saved. 3. Ashdeep invited his mother over for dinner. During the course of the meal, his mother couldn't help but notice how pretty Ashdeep's roommate was. She had long been suspicious of the relationship between the two, and this had only made her more curious. Over the course of the evening, while watching the two interact, she started to wonder if there was more between Ashdeep and his room mate than met the eye. Reading his mom's thoughts, Ashdeep volunteered, I know ,"What you must be thinking, but I assure you, Jeeti and I are just roommates." About a week later, Jeeti came to Ashdeep saying, "Ever since your mother came to dinner, I've been unable to find the beautiful silver chutney jar. You don't suppose she took it, do you? Ashdeep replied "Well, I doubt it, but I'll email her, just to be sure. So he sat down and wrote: "Dear Mother, I'm not saying that you 'did' take the chutney jar from my house, I'm not saying that you did not' take the chutney jar. But the fact remains that it has been missing ever since you were here for dinner. Love, Ashdeep" Several days later, Ashdeep received an email from his Mother which read: "Dear Son, I'm not saying that you 'do sleep with Jeeti, and I'm not saying that you 'do not' sleep with Jeeti. But the fact remains that if she was sleeping in her own bed, she would have found the chutney jar by now. Love, Mom" Lesson of the day .....Don't Lie to Your Mother, especially if she's Indian!

    A Joke

One day Pope decides to visit India and asks Sri Krsna to accompany him as his guide. During their visit they come across a prominent Indian University. At the University they notice a diligent student who is about to sit his final exams. Before commencing the exam the student places Sri Krsna’s picture on the desk and with incense and other devotional products performs an elaborate devotional service. The Pope notices Sri Krsna being well pleased with the student’s protocol. At the conclusion of the devotional service the student writes “Jai Sri Krsna” on top of the paper and begins the exam. Bewildered Pope raising one of his eyebrow, turns to Sri Krsna and asks “What does this all mean”. In turn Sri Krsna shrugs his shoulders and said in a plain language “ Not a dame thing if he has not studied for the Exam”
  5. Jai Sri Krsna Same verse (BG 2:24) describes soul as "present everywhere". Can someone explain this? Thank you
  6. Sorry Shvu, just testing. C:\Girish\Krsna-Reduced
  7. Hare Krsna: Hi Shvu: Referring to original context. --- “Just like you refer the Supreme Lord as Krishna, there are others [shaivas] who refer to this same Supreme Lord as Shiva. There are also others who worship this same Supreme Lord in other forms” --------- Yes, but in all cases the Lords face is revealed.
  8. Hare Krsna: -------------------------- “Chandrashekhara Bharati of the Shankara line said, "You don't see the Lotus feet of the Lord. Why are you fighting over what his face looks like?" ----------------------------- This is could only be true if one assumes that Sri Krsna did not reveal himself to anyone since the beginning of the human race. Secondly, I always thought that Sri Krsna’s featured were described in the Vedas.
  9. Jai Sri Krsna: Hi Shvu: --- “Once there was a question about why Matysa, Kurma and Varaha also being Avatars were not worshipped on the scale of Rama. The answer was a fish, tortoise and a boar are simply not as interesting as Rama. Similarly Krishna being the most heroic and dashing of all the avatars of Vishnu, became the most popular. Then some people went a little farther by reversing the direction and said Vishnu himself is an extension of Krishna!” -- I think we are free to see the Lord in a form that most appeals to us, and he will reciprocate accordingly. This does not mean that Lord’s other avatars are any less significant. He takes Avatars as he sees fit for a particular situation. We are free to see him in any way we want, that is his Grace, just like you are free to see the whole scenario as comical situation and hence make fun of it.
  10. Jai Sri Krsna: Dear Viji: That was a nice posting.
  11. Jai Sri Krsna: I think: If the faith was based on visual observance of God, then blind people would never have faith in God. If faith was based on scientific proofs then illiterate people would not have faith. If faith was based on intelligent questioning of one’s believes, then stupid or mentally handicapped people could not have faith. I think, if one endeavors with sincere faith in God, then God will reciprocate with him and show him the correct way. This will happen irrespective of whom one follows or whether one has questioned his believes with intelligence. For no one deliberately follows a wrong person without asking any questions. Everyone from their point of view has made correct observances before one takes up a certain path. The important thing is to surrender first. With the same token God cannot be found if one follows with insincere faith, even under the guidance of a bona-fide Guru.

  13. Hare Krsna: Interesting view, Shvu.
  14. My concern is not with people believing in God or not, but, rather with a universally dismissal of all the feelings one may have about God and treating them as conditioning of mind and so on. The simple fact is, that no one knows what other person feels (relationship with God) or to what degree. Knowing God (unfortunately or fortunately) happens to be a spiritual matter. People may put forward their theories based on experiments or logic, that is fine as long as they understand it is only a theory and not a conclusive fact. Faith is not blind to a person who has established relationship with God.
  15. Hare Krsna I apologize to all the readers if my comments appeared un-necessarily harsh. Girish
  16. Jai Sri Krsna: Dear Animesh: “If they really believe in God, why do they do this?” We know which food is good for us and yet we eat food that is harmful to us, similarly people who believe in God end up performing actions which are contrary to his teachings.
  17. Hare Krsna: Dear Shvu: Thanks for your reply, I will have to thing about what you said. Girish
  18. Hare Krsna: Dear Shvu: Why do you think that people who have surrendered have not questioned their belief. It may be true, that measuring by your standard people may not have questioned their faith enough. But surly how much one questions one’s belief is relative. People you believe in God, do know for a fact that there is God. They cannot prove this to your satisfaction. So on what grounds do claim that people do not know for certain if there is God.
  19. Hare Krsna: Dear Shvu: “.......................... First of all they have absolutely no idea, if there is a God....... .” You keep making statements like above. You obviously have developed the ability to know what is in people’s mind and heart. It appearts to me that you cannot bring yourself to believe in God. That is fine. But please refrain from being an authority on what we feel.
  20. Jai Sri RadheyKrsna: Dear Dasha: I am not a scholar and my mind is too corrupted with Maya to be a devotee. However, I am hoping and praying that one day, with help of blessings from his devotees, the Lord will favor me with his grace. Girish
  21. Jai Sri Krsna: My understanding: In beginning all the activities performed in devotion will be selfish. However, in time with, with help of his Grace, one gradually will learn to perform activities which are selfless. And one will begin to enjoy eternal pleasure in performing these activities.
  22. Jai Sri Krsna: Is a person born in a Brahmin family, necessarily a Brahman, even if he does not practise that particular way of life. I think one is what one prctises, rather then one's birth in a particular religion, cast or family.
  23. Hari Hari Dear Jayasriradhey Thank you for making it clear for me. Girish
  24. Hare Krsna: My understanding: Devotion goes on, regardless of any material or spiritual gain. In devotion, if or when one will develops love for God or Krsna then he will derive happiness and bliss from his relationship with God. At this point, gain or loss of material possession becomes irrelevant.
