  1. So we are transmigrating from one body to another. There is evolution. jalaja nava-laksani sthavara laksa-vimsati krmayo rudra-sankhyakah paksinam dasa-laksanam Because in the beginning the whole planet was covered in water. The water is drying up and gradually land is coming out. So therefore in the beginning the aquatics, jalaja nava-laksani. So the aquatic animals, they are 900,000 species. Jalaja nava..., sthavara laksa-vimsati. Then trees and plants and herbs and grasses and so many, they are 2,000,000 forms. Then krmayo rudra-sankhyakah. Then insect life, reptile life, 1,100,000. Then paksinam dasa-laksanam, then birds, varieties of birds, 1,000,000. Then pasu, four-legged animals, 3,000,000 types. Then manusah catur-laksani. Then human form of life, uncivilized and civilized, that human form of life 400,000. So in comparison to the lower species of life, we are very small quantity. Together there are 8,400,000 species of life, living entities. The evolution process is from one body to another, another, another. In this way, when you come to the human form of life, it should be utilized for full knowledge about our eternal life. That is the opportunity. And if we don't take this opportunity, if we live like other animals--eating, sleeping, sex, and fearfulness, ahara-nidra-bhayam--but we do not care to understand what we are, what is God, what is our relationship with God, then we are missing the point.
  2. What yaar!! No one willing to help the_great one?? Gauracandra, Tarun, gHari, leyh, shashi, Avinash, Rati, skeptic??? No one?? Hellooooooo!!
  3. I was just imagining what the world wd have been like, if there was no religion at all!! Isn't that the predictions of Kaliyuga? Jijaji EXPOSED ------>>> THE AGENT OF KALI. Jijaji, you are trying to mould us as agents of kali, by your new philosophy....
  4. No variety, no spice, no cucumber.
  5. Abhi bows, no cucumbers needed - Sinora rejected my first class idea.
  6. The Lord says that he descends to establish the dharma, in every yuga. But we see that Lord Krishna descended at the end of a yuga. If he had to establish the dharma, he shd have come at the beginning of Dwapara. Did Krishna come to establish the dharma for Kalil Yuga? Someone cd help me with this question. Hare Krishna Abhi
  7. A genuine doubt I have, re Advaitha. Somebody can kindly throw light on this. On one hand we say, "Everything is Brahman". On the other we say, "This world is an illusion". My argument now is: If everything is brahman, this world is also part of that everything. Then how can this world be illusion? Isn't it contradictory to say the world is brahman and illusion at the same time?
  8. "panditah sama darshinah" == "apanditah bedha darshinah"
  9. I don't see how birth control is a mid-between. It aids free-indulgence. Its just a catalyst for free indulgence. Having sex ones a month is helpful for controling the free indulgence. I feel its a safe midway. But again, all this is bordering hypocrisy from the point I stand. I cannot preach to anybody to not have sex or have controlled sex, while my own mind itself is boiling abound with sex desires. This, for me, is something desirable but unattainable, at this point of my spiritual evolution. But nonetheless, we continue chanting in faith, "rupa raghunatha pade rahu mora aasha..." your fallen, lusty servant!!!
  10. Hey, Why not remain there for sometim?. Mahaprabhu has send you there, for a ptcr purpose, and his purpose is, TO PREACH KC. Be agile while meditating, there is one soul trapped somewhere out there, and he wants to get this dear devotee back. Meditate with your eyes open and this soul will slowly get attracted to you. On the other side, keep your association strong by reading and posting here. Gaura premanande hari hari bol!! Shashi, i cooked up this idea in my mind just to pls you.
  11. So it happened. We all went for the team dinner. As I said - an Indian Restaurant. (We are so used of calling Restaurant as Hotel in India, so don't get confuse in case I have used it interchangeably). I asked the waiter bravely (after reading all these posts), "do you have anything vegiterean without onion and garlic?". I was hoping he wd say no and I cd eat some fruits as usual. To my surprise, he said yes, mixed vegetables specially for you, without onion and garlic, we shall prepare. "So be it", I replied (thinking this was Krishna's merciful plan to feed his pure devotee). And when he brought it, hold your breath... guess what. It had all nice vegetables.. like paneer, capsicum, tomatoes, potatoes.... AND A LOT OF MUSHROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMS!! My foot. This was anti-climax. Finally I settled down with Roti and Dal(which was free of all this). For me such parties happen once in a maybe 6 months. I just go along with it, and slip out with some excuses ones in a while. Anyway, I make my preferences very clear, and I have seen people accepting it.
  12. All this sounds interesting to me. I never heard this.
  13. All this sounds interesting to me. I never heard this.
  14. Krishna manifests himself in different ways. For people who cannot be fully satisfied by KC, they sometimes take shelter of non-KC jokes/activities from time to time. But since they have tasted Krishna, they cannot leave Krishna either. Gradually they become purified by the association of the holy name and will no more care for other jokes/activities. We cannot demand that only 100% pure devotees shd join this forum. Then there wd be only one Sataswathi here.
  15. say what, I am going out for a corporate team dinner tonites. Our boss has flown in from USA. Luckily, dunno why, the dinner is arranged in an Indian Restaurant. But they have both veg and non-veg and drinks too. The good thing is that it won't be as bad as last time when they took us to a sea-food restaurant. They brought in junping shrimpls to show that the food is real fresh. Yuck!!! I couldn't bear the smell and atmosphere. For myself I ordered plain vegetables. Kept munching for a few minutes... but the smell started becoming more and more unbearable. When I felt I might vomit sitting there, I excused myself as if I remembered some urgent work and ran home. The smell was worse than shit... I cd not imagine till then that people can eat all this rotten stuff. Wish me good luck tonite!
  16. Bcos hinduism is not a narrow idea, which claims, "there is only one way and that is ours". Bcos hinduism does not consider god has lost his ability to procreate after having one son. Bcos hinduism does not teach us to kill a person bcos he follows another path. Bcos hinduism teaches to respects all the living entities, including animals and plants as the children of god. It gives the true meaning of being merciful. bcos hinduism can cater to the material and spiritual needs of any person on any level of spiritual evolution. Bcos hinduism is simply a way of life, where one naturaly & gradually developes to the highest level of pure love of god. Bcos hinduism is able to absorb into itself all the cultures of the other religions and bring abt harmonious existence. Bcos hinduism does not demand that you have to destroy the photos or dieties of the gods you were worshipping if you want to become a hindu. Bcos hinduism beleives that everyone is equally entitled to claim salvation, and surrender to the Lord.
  17. Yes, the same rules cannot be applied to all the masses. There are people with the mentality of Brahmanas, they might consider the body worthless - and its ok (but few are hypocrites). Those with the mentality of Kshatriyas, they shd be encouraged to develope the body and learn martial arts and politics & management. Vaishyas shd learn management and business. Shudras shd develope skills like computer programming, manufacturing etc. which are greatly useful for the society at large. All 4 stratas shd be positively encouraged to acheive a peaceful material life and an exciting spiritual life. Wow, I am dreaming about a Varnashrama University!!
  18. mmaranr, Brahma was also confused, when he was born. He was instructed to meditate, and in the end he came out knowledgable. We need to keep faith in one process or other. Apply our mind to it, and see if it helps us answer the various questions. We need to follow a process, then we get the results. Yoga is such a process which allows us connect to the Lord. All questions will be answered. And yes, faith is required. Cheers Abhilash
  19. I was very heavy in my previous postings earlier, but nowadays have moderated myself following leyh's advice. If we inspect Indian history, we can see that the Hindus clinged together when they knew that the Muslims wd go all out to kill them. It made Hindus stronger, as a grp, in one-way or other. I am sure this is positively working again on the Hindu psych, the atrocities by the muslims. Its bringing them together. Maybe its bringing the world also together - A COMMON ENEMY - ISLAM!! Coming back, what really disturbed the faith of the Hindus in their religion is the projection of science and technology as higher than religion, seeing the sophisticated White Sahibs following a different religion. The style associated with the Western kind of religion. The schools, hospitals and charity work which they dedicate with fervor - all has acted on the hindu minds. Among other things were also the projecting of Hindu form of worship as aboriginal and the conspiracy to rewrite the Hindu scriptures by Max Muller and the Aryan Invasion theory. Actually there have been intellectual conspiracy to destroy the religion, thanks to the strong Acaryas who kept on appearing to pull it back again and again. Strategy 1: By using force, we make Islam stronger and come together. India will invite global denouncing and trouncing. Strategy 2: It is not very Vaishnavic, but I feel there is a planned mispropaganda and misinformation being spread about Islam. Indeed there are enough weapons the Muslims have given the world to use against them. It depends on how a shrewd person can use these weapons to disect the religion, piece by piece. Patience and planning will succeed to a great extend. The churches are using this strategy of slowly poisoning the masses against their own religion and culture within and opening schools and hospitals without as their strategy. It has worked wonders in India. Again, this is more possible in a loosley knit hindu society than a tightly knit Islamic society. I wonder why Mahaprahu himself did not destroy Islam... maybe he wanted to leave the service to his servants or maybe he just wanted us to preach to them intelligently. I go for the latter after reading the feedback from most Vaishnavas. Killing all muslims cannot guarantee any new peace era. Someone will always be there to disturb. But, when it comes to the question of protecting ones religion or ones family or ones country, one can slay such an agressor and still not incur sins. We need to develope Vaishnava Kshatriyas, well trained in use of weapons and martial arts, who can protect the society from external attacks. They shd be adept in politics, economics and diplomacy too. There are even plans to assasinate the Sankaracharya of Kanchi and his security had to be increased. This is the state of affairs!! I am not sure how much place does peace have, I am not personally convinced of peace alone as a strategy. The first strategy shd be non-violent in portraying Islam as a religion lacking in all fronts - philosophically, intellectually, practically. Afterall, all the pain they take is to enjoy with 72 virgins and 28 boys in jannat!
  20. You want to bribe me?? I am the Yamadhootha - the gate keeper.
  21. sex!! wallah!! My frank opinion is there are many people who are sex fanatics and anti-sex fanatics. Both of them meditate so much abt sex. When the mosquito bites, smash it and itch it. Life goes on. If the desire of sex is there, get married have sex, enjoy it. Don't pretend. don't pretend to be liberated. This itch is there, and enjoy the itch. I do not see any easy way out of this. Neither am I pretending to be far away from this itch. But when I read SP's words that it shd be avoided, once a month etc., certainly I do feel guilty. In this guilt, I pray to Krishna. "Dear Lord, my master has adviced me, but somehow, I feel unable to control this itch, pls pls be merciful give me the strength. I am very fallen, a useless wretch. KRISHNAAAAAAAAAAA" These words from SP makes me feel very humble and utterly useless as a disciple. And that is the proof of an Acarya's word. It brings one in the right frame of mind to engage in devotional service. The breaking of his words are not due to arrogance or a rebelious attitude, but due to certain inabilities that one is bound by the material modes one has aquired. But its no reason to go away from the lotus feet of Guru, nor to stop devotional service - its all helpful in developing ones consciousness if understood in the right spirit under able guidance. Why are people so much adamant on finding fault in my Master? You have to accept a spiritual master, and like him and serve him, if you have to understand the worth of his words, and how it can act on a disciple. Theoretical understanding can help in finding faults. Though I do admit that I am still theoretical in many concepts and activities of SP, I beleive that its relevance will be revealed at the right time. Different peole have different capacities. One has to take to spiritual life, with a lot of patience. What one person can easily acheive easily might not be so easy for others. So, I might shout on the top of my voice, everyone shd listen to SP and have no more sex. Sex is an itch, its a guarantee of half way to Goloka. But what is practical, what is the majority? The majority are people with a deep craving for sex life. If we want to see all our god-brothers and nephews and neices advance gradually, it wd be good to encourage them to get married. Excessive preaching to control sex-life is a hindrance, but mature understanding of sex life needs to be given. This is my 2cents on so much of SEX SEX SEX talk. We cannot reach a conclusion as in many cases like arguing against Advaitha. Hare Krishna Dandavats Sorry, if I talked more than a nephew shd. 22. na janam na dhanam na sundarim kavitam va jagadeesa kamaye mama janmanee janmaneesvare bhavadad bhaktir ahaituki followers - don't want, money - don't want, sundari - don't want, oratory/poetry - don't want. Only want bhakti birth after birth. This is the sublime message which gives bhakti more importance than any other material possessions. Birth means sufferings for the self, even this suffering is insignificant when compared to the spiritual blissed derived in bhakti. For me bhakti is loving service which is exchanged with a person. Unmanifest and bhakti don't go hand in hand. Maybe a nice philosophy, but not practical. What chaitanya gave more than Madhva was madhurya bhakti. What chaitanya gave more than Krishna was, the practical demonstration of complete surrender compared to the theory stated in Geeta (mam ekam sasranam vraja). Nothing *left out*, I ever heard of. Chapter 4. Transcendental Knowledge TEXT 3 sa evayam maya te 'dya yogah proktah puratanah bhakto 'si me sakha ceti rahasyam hy etad uttamam Since you are my bhakta, .... Ch12.2 yuktatama - most perfect!! There is perfect, more perfect and most perfect. Pls educate me, I can be wrong, if there is such a praise rendered by Krishna to anyother forms of yoga. TEXT 47 yoginam api sarvesam mad-gatenantar-atmana sraddhavan bhajate yo mam sa me yuktatamo matah And of all yogis, he who always abides in Me with great faith, worshiping Me in transcendental loving service, is most intimately united with Me in yoga and is the highest of all. For me bhakti rings thru and thru. I can also see what you see in the Geeta, and its also there. Gita is like the milk which can satisfy the heart of all the calves - the jnani calf, the yogi calf, the bhakta calf. Sometimes one calf may push another in their greed to suckle even more, we can tolerate all this pushing in a brotherly spirit.
  23. Logically it is possible for Veda Vyas to write the Bhagavatham as Suta speaking it. This provides a feed-back to the source, to doubly ensure that the content and essence is not tampered. A complete, homogenuous, home-grown SYSTEM. Its impossible to counter or understand or perceive how the world was in Dwapara Yuga. We might prove to be great pundits giving logical arguments. But we fail to recognise that our argument are based on our perceptions of the present world. And we are trying to extrapolate or inerpolate it to some other time, som other space. Hope we come up with a fast solution on how exactly the Mahabharath was fought!! WE ARE THE MOST INTELLIGENT, WE CANNOT BE WRONG!!
