I am sure that Sri Ramakrishna glorifies bhakti to attain mukthi in most fronts. He does also point out that one can maintain ones individuality only in bhakti and only for the sake of worshipping the Lord. But the bhakti he mentions is not towards impersonal brahman but towards a form, viz kali, durga, krishna, shiva, vishnu etc. Sankara mentions panchopasana, the worship of 5 dieties before attaining the impersonal moksha. In one article I read Vivekananda saying that there are 2 ways to mukti: 1 is by becoming humble by the perfomance of bhakti. There he compares maya to a net. By becoming humble one becomes smaller and smaller and can escape the maya-jal, the net of Maya, by escaping thru the net. Like how a small fish escapes the fishermans net. These class of philosophers chant - dasoham dasoham (i am the servant). But Vivekananda used to chant Sivoham (I am that Siva). This is the second way he outlines to overcome Maya's effect. In this method we grow bigger and bigger and bigger like Siva and the net of Maya is too small or insignificant to capture us. According to him, both are ways to attain mukti finally. So, my question to you is what is your final aim? Is it bhakti or mukthi? For a bhakta, mukti is not needed. He is already liberated in this very same body. They threatened many times to kill our great acaryas like Rasakinanda and others. Today after so many years the Hindus want a few of (the many 10,000s of) their own temples back. Ayodhya, Mathura and Varanasi are the 3 main ones which the Hindus are demanding back. All these temples were previously desecrated by the Muslim rulers and a mosque built on top. Ayodhya is Rama Janmabhoomi and Mathura is Krishna Janmabhoomi. Varanasi is Lord Shiva's favourite place. It is said that there is a mosque which is standing where the Hindus beleive that Lord Krishna was born. The prison cell of Kamsa's country. A mosque is proudly standing above this underground cell. It is just nasty that the muslims still hold such positions after knowing the importance the Hindus attach with such holy places. Its just sheer defiance. A challenging posture. As I view it, there is no locus standi for the Muslims in such cases. There is no need for a court verdict to take so much time. A mosque shd always be outside the dham. As an ISKCON devotee cd we bare the feelling of Muslims coming over and demolishing our temple and building a mosque above it? It is not wrong to understand that the Lord is infinite and impersonal. It is possible by following the path of Advaita Vada. The Advaita Vadis consider the form of the Lord temporary and worship it as a means to an impersonal end. They understand that ultimately everything is impersonal and the material world is an illusion. Here also the bhakti is towards the person, but in the end they deviate from Bhakti to Mukti. The goal is never bhakti. The Vaishnavas surely differ here as you have already noticed in the previous answers. If you feel an attraction for understanding the impersonal feature of the Lord thru Sanatana dharma, I encourage you to read more and research more deeply. The books from Ramakrishna, Chinmaya and others can guide you in that direction. But for getting pure bhakti read Srila Prabhupad's book, there is no other alternative, no other alternative, no other alternative. Especially Srimad Bhagavatham will be most helpful in developing bhakti. Hare Krishna Abhi

Talking abt advertisements. Once HH Kavicnadra Swami mentioned that, McDonalds(or Burger King not sure) were once showing in an ad targetted at children, how children were playing around and then going into a garden and plucking beef burgers on a tree. They are trying to imprint in the mind of children and general viewers a serene image of how beef burgers are made. They are trying to portray how natural a food it is, by hiding the cruel slaughter of cows. These advertising companies do a lot of psychological study before coming out with ads. And the innocent children who see this ads are easily bought in. They also want beef burgers!! abhi

Many innocent people die, like in Gujarat. It happens, and it will happen again and again. As the collective backlash karma of Islam unfolds we might witness terrible cruelty, i'm afraid. Thx gHari & Avinash, Now you realise what made me cranky, and pull the daggers at poor leyh. Sometimes we feel very peaceful, bcos we think everything is OK. Ignorance is certainly bliss. But when the truth stares one in the face, sometimes we take painful decisions although it might be against our very basic nature of being peace loving. We lose the ability to be just that simple hearted person we always tried to be. We prepare our mind to face any consequences, in the process we end up being rough and tough. The way leyh is speaking, I also used to. There was a time when I was thinking that all is simple and straight forward. Slowly by associating and reading, I have become little mature at times!! Avinash, I do agree that there are muslims who are not fanatics, but they are lesser than fanatics who are non-muslims. I have had muslim friends who were very very close to me, 1 who have stayed in my hse (where my parents are initiated devotees in ISKCON) and ate in my hse and studied together during exams. I have visited their home too. I know there are non-fanatics, but I don't feel they are many like my old friend. Should they be converted? No, if they allow the peaceful propagation of KC, why shd we bother them. But, if they are hell bent on converting India into an Islamic state, certainly we shd overpower them. The majority are in the second category. If they oppose the building of Ram temple, they shd be driven out like Sankara drived out out the Budhists. Good luck Abhi

leyh My request to you is that you stop using Krsna and Srila Prabhupada to justify your barbaric views. Same words can give different realisations to different peolpe at different platforms of evolvement. So you need to bear my openness and frankness and understanding. If not, then ther is a problem with your understanding, so kindly cool it out. Is a dictatorship a practical solution? Would it miraculously remove the hatred from the hearts of those who engage in violence in the name of Hinduism and Islam? If sweet talk does not work, then give gifts, then threaten and if threatening also does not work, then punish. But if the very existence of Hinduism is challenged, then don't waste time, talking sweet words and trying to act as if there is no hatred. Lets be practical. leyh baba, I am not against a tolerant solution for tolerant people. We need to be tolerant when we see that the oponent is worth it and we need to be cunning when the opponent is a jackal. Srila Prabhupad never taught us to be humble and be cheated. For protecting dharma dirtatorship is needed at times. I am surprised you were not reminded of Krishna when he gave the clarion call to kill all the miscreants for the sake of dharma. My only concern is that dharma shd be protected, Vedic sites and Vedic community needs to be protected. If it needs a dictator mentality, I am for it. I feel its not intelligent to lie low after years and years of suffering under brutal rulers. I do not want to leave in a bharata bhoomi which will be ruled by the mlechcha rulers again, where there is no freedom of practicing sanatana dharma. And hundreds of murtis in Vrindavan and Mathura and all over india are slashed by barbarians. There is no reason to remain cool, when I think of these atrocities.
