For many people's benefit I wrote the Hare Krishna (Krsna) mantra in different Indian scripts. Writing a mantra (likhita japa) is also an important form of sadhana. The first two lines are in Devanagari, the second two in Bengali, the third in Kannada, the fourth in Tamil and the last in Roman transliteration.

In Hindi Eden will be svargodyaan, it is a Sanskrit word. The Sanskrit form will be svargodyaanam. The litteral meaning is Paradise Garden.

What do you mean? Hindu is not a language. Do you mean Hindi, or a language spoken by Hindus like Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati etc?

Nobody worships Kamadava (also called Madana, Kandarpa, Manmatha). You have to practise brahmacarya. Hanuman is an excellent example of a pure brahmacari. I would advise to start worship Ganapati / Ganesha. Everyone can worship Ganesha, also people who are not pure, who are not vegetarian. He is the remover of obstacles. He makes a start in the process of the spiritual path. So everyone who starts a puja begins to invoke Ganesha.

I suppose Trystan is a male. Into what language do you want the translation? In Hindi it would be, Trystan mera pyaar, meri jaan. But I prefer Sanskrit. A good translation into Sanskrit would be: Trystan, preSTho me praaNaashcha me. PreSTha is superlative of priya. Let me know if you want it in Devanagari or another Indic script.

Thiru explained it right. I want to add something. First it is baalikaa (two long a). Almost the same word is bala / baalaa. There is a slight difference. Balika has a little more endearment. It is grammatically a diminutive of baalaa. There are more words to indicate girl. In baalaa and baalikaa is the root for to grow. Balachandra / baalachandraH means the waxing (increasing) moon. Sanskrit words have roots (dhatu). In root in baalikaa is "bal praaNane" (balati). This root means the breathe, to live. Causative: balayati means to nourish.

That is why we cann't marry within the same gotra.

No it doesn't take a lot of time. I just put I-leap (Indian language programme) on, type the name in Indian characters and safe it as a JPEG file. Of course you have to know well the Indian languages, scripts and pronounciation to make a good transliteration or translation. An other important fact is that you have to know how you pronounce the word or name to transliterate, because the Indian and South-Asian schript are purely phonetic.

Ok, I understand. I did also a google of ianthe. So I made three translations. The first word of each of them is in Devanagari, the most common script for Sanskrit. The second is Telugu, also used for Sanskrit but restricted to some areas in the south, and the third is a tranliteration into the Roman script. 1. Litteral transliteration according the pronounciation. 2. Translation of ianthe, which means violet flower into Sanskrit. 3. The Greek ion is entymologically related to the Samskrit wordt ayanam. So I translated like "ion-flower".

Hoe do you pronounce Ianthe? Is it English? I as I in I? a as a in can? do you pronounce the final e?

Allebei is Mike. Uitgespoken als Majk. Het verschil is dat de een Hindi is en de andere Sanskrit.

Je hebt gelijk Guest, maar dan heb je het over Sanskrit. Mike wilde het in het Hindi hebben. De eind-a wordt in het Hindi niet uitgesproken en daarom worden er in het Hindi die streepjes (viraama) niet gebruikt. Als je in het Sanskrit wil schrijven moet je ook een andere ai gebruiken. Twee "klinker-hoofdletters" achter elkaar kan niet in het Sanskrit. In het Hindi wordt die ai van het Sanskrit als è uitgesproken. Hoewel hetzelfde schrift zijn er toch genoeg verschillen tussen het Hindi en Sanskrit. Sanskrit kan ook in andere Indiase schriften (vooral de Zuidelijke ) geschreven worden. Hier krijg je Mike dunner in het Hindi. En ik zal voor de volledigheid ook Sanskrit erbij doen.

Ravindra = Ravi + Indra. Means the king or the lord of the sun. Here is Ravindra in Devanagari schript.

Hier is Mike in Hindi (Devanagari), niet in Sanskrit dus. Hoewel hetzelfde schrift, toch anders geschreven.

Asha / aashaa (both long a) is a feminine word. It means hope. The secondary meaning is wish, desire. In philosophical sense asha means false hope, false expectation. Asha is also a girl's name. See attachment for writing in Devanagari.

There is a major difference between the Western religions (Christianity and Islam) and Eastern religions (Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism etc.) In Western religions there is one true God. one saviour (Jesus) or one last prophet (Muhammad). Other gods are false, are devils. This is called exclusivism. Eastern religions are inclusive. I have a God (ishta-deva) and other gods may be minor gods but they are a form or a manifestion of my God. In the Gita ShreeKrishna said that if you worship other gods, you will come to me. So no false gods. Another scriptural statement is : Vishnoshca hrudayam shivaH, shivasya hrudayam vishnuH. (The heart of Vishnu is Shiva and the heart of Shiva is Vishnu). Different names, forms and ways of worship, but the goal is one. Some western Iskoners with Christian backgroud make the mistake to make a exclusive god of Krishna.

In the Geeta ShriKrishna said: चातुर्वर्यं मया सृष्टं कर्मगुणविभाग्यशः। The four varnas I made on the base of action and qualities. Birth is not mentioned by the Lord. Caste by birth is jati. Jati is human made. Jati is not in our scriptures. So every one can become a Brahmin. And every Brahmin by birth is not automatically a Brhahmin.
